Your welcome. I hope you found the video helpful. When you go to eat find the chef and ask what you can eat, chances are they will offer to make you something delicious.
My husband and I are going on RC cruise very soon so this was super helpful! I am most nervous about vegan breakfast since my husband loves big breakfasts I wish they would add tempeh bacon or something.

for me breakfast was the worse. YOu might ask for avocado toast a head of time. I just stuff myself with oatmeal till lunch comes along. RC is a classy cruise line. Carnival is budget line

MDR main dining room is better, but glad you are taking advantage buffet area
Yeah, we just don't like to sit down and wait so long, but I do regret not trying the vegan menu.
. I just want to say everyone should do videos like this, not just to help fellow vegans but all the cruise lines.
Get to know the head waiter and tackle the head cook when he comes out of the galley. I meet head cooks and pastry chefs at meet and greets. (or at "elite" parties, just find someone to invite you) Not many but I have few great dishes... hopefully more in the future.
Be pleasant and do not be shy.
I just found out the RC Vegan menu was taken out. I hope they kept the good recipes. ( they tried, I give them A for effort._) Maybe, not enough people order it. Most cruises, there's only a handful of passengers claim they are veg/vegan..
If u can afford it, go try this vegan adventure.....someone cooking and cleaning for you is great.
as a last resort, try to dig up your food at the buffet.
Do it as a positive scavenger experience. It's extra work but we are still the 3%.
I like the MDR even though I have to sit down 1 hour to get my food.
I cruise out of WEst Coast many staff know what vegan is. For those who don't know, it's our opportunity to educate them. It doesn't take much time with a smile. The head cook needs to have better signage, especially if they cook the same thing over and over. New staff will how to answer our questions. I find the buffet chefs at 3 RC cruises refuse to make the Indian Veg dishes VEGAN. It seems like they follow the same recipe adding cream, butter!! I write to RC all the time to suggest Vegan meals as a common denominator. They can decrease their food expense by not adding seafood, meat, cream, cheese etc.. These food items are the most expensive ingredients purchased.
again, let's all share our vegan experience... and post some videos too!
I eat early at 5:30pm or 6pm to get faster service or you have to sit 1 l/2 hr at least for your meal... yes, some people like that but not me.

We usually cruise with Carnival and the options there keep getting better for the most part. They have added vegan cheese at the pizza station, burrito station and for the vegan burgers. The brand ambassador has also mention on his facebook page that they will be announcing their official MD Vegan menu soon! I have seen it on one ship so far, it had the most delicious vegan carrot cake. Oh and our most recent cruise we met a chef in the buffet area that cooked vegan for us a few times.... best vegan fettucine alfredo ever!

I’m so happy I ran across this. We’ll be on this ship in July. My husband is plant based and I’m mostly vegetarian. I was impressed to see that they looked out for y’all and brought special items to your table. We plan on eating every meal we can in the MDR. We cruised on RCCL in 1999 and thoroughly enjoyed the dining room experience.

the language barrier was a challenge! trying to figure out what was vegan. when i asked the crew member pointed to the steak. Often times people get gf and vegan confused, also i dont want to eat only rice a beans the entire time

Do you remember if the steamed veggies were oil and salt free or not? I’m a very simple healthy eater and for health reasons I don’t eat salt or oil - so my goal is to eat from the salad and fruit bar and request steamed oil free veggies.
Sorry, I don't remember for this ship specifically because I've been on several cruises since then. Some just steam the veggies, and some add oil and salt. I, too, prefer just steamed without oil. I want to say this ship did have oil on the green beans though.

When you say talk to the chef, do you mean the supervisors walking around or actually the chef who makes the food?
Most of time we just asked the people walking around working in the dining areas and if they didn't know they would go ask a chef.

Do we have to request specifically for these options? And who among the staff has all the dietery info?
If you are at main dining you let them you need a vegan meal and they prepare it for you but it might be chefs choice. You can let them know in advance that you will need a vegan meal chefs choice every night if you want. At the buffet we just asked those working in that area what was vegan and if they didn't know they would go ask the chef and come back with a list of what we could eat.Many times the person working behind the buffet food would know if something was vegan or not though. Certain staff got to know us and would bring us vegan desert from the main dining to the buffet as well so that is something you could ask for.
even though if it's free, meat eaters won't even try the vegan menu, when RC had it.
Stinks RC is doing away with the vegan menu, but at least Carnival is adding it.

Cant go along with this. It’s like they just handed you a bunch of sides. If this is acceptable, that’s sad, this is trash. They could at least partner with vegan companies and vegan chefs instead of handing you leftover sides and eating the same rice and beans and cheap veggie patties every day. I do that at home why would I pay to go on a cruise to eat like that when everyone else is eating fancy. They need to accommodate more. I’m surprised they left the vegan option out but it probably doesn’t make any money for them so they don’t care.

I’m sorry but these vegan options are pathetic. Bunch of steamed bland vegetables, veggie burgers, and fries. Looks like I won’t starve but definitely won’t be eating well.
