Matt, you nailed it! It is so easy to check in if you do just a few things to prepare. I always print out documents like Set Sail Pass and have it inside my passport. I also check in using the app and have as much of it completed before we get to the ship. One more thing which you mentioned that is really important. As soon as you gain access to the ship go directly to your muster station and check in, bam you're done and ready to party! Our last cruise on Explorer from the time we entered the terminal until we completed check-in, boarded and checked-in at our Muster Station was exactly 16 minutes. Thanks for a great video. Bill
We all remember the snail check-in process of yesteryear. A long snake like line do to the individual check-in process. Imagine 4000 people trying to check into a hotel. When you finally got to a customer service person you filled out a health questionnaire, showed your ID, Credit card, set sail.pass then they took each person's picture and then you waited for your sea pass card. Then back into another line to get on the ship. Took hours to get on the ship especially if the coast guard was doing an inspection. Now, 15 minutes and were at the pool bar!!! Awesome🤣🍸
I had a nightmare situation once in those yesteryear times. The port of Galveston was shut down for fog. The cruise ship couldn’t even park until noon and still had to disembark. We were packed in the terminal like sardines and there was a line outside a mile long. I didn’t even get to my room until 10 pm. It sucked so bad.
We recently sailed from Galveston. I watched your videos on boarding day a few months ago. The process was much quicker than I expected. We were onboard the ship within 12 minutes after entering the terminal. Thanks Matt!
Great Viedo. I'm a seasoned cruiser and a retired travel agent. You hit all the points that a first time cruiser as well as a seasoned cruiser should know. The checkin process is very quick. Easier than the old days.
Thank you so much for making this video! This will be our first time cruising with Royal Caribbean and I’ve been stressed out about how the check-in process might go for us. Your video has put my mind at ease😊
This was an amazing video for my wife and I, who will be going on our very first cruise ever for our 20th anniversary. We were super nervous but videos like this have helped us feel a little more confident. We did purchase The Key for our Royal Caribbean trip on the Adventure of the Seas, so knowing about those blue signs answered a big question I had. Thank you!
we just got off Monday from Mariner and it was our first cruise since 2017. I was very impressed how they have streamed lined the check in process. it was a full cruise and we did not have to wait to check in. From parking to on the ship maybe 30 minutes.
Just got back from The Harmony of The Seas cruise. It was much easier than it use to be checking in, etc. Little lines for security and it was a nice process, took maybe 30 minutes before we were on the ship.
Hi Matt I was really stressed about this process, watched this video three times prior to our sailing. I did the online first exactly on the first day it opened. We went thru without any problems. Within the hour we had our muster drill done. Thank you for the walk thru. This was our first cruise with Royal Caribbean.
We appreciated your check in video. At midnight, as soon as check in became active about a minute later, I immediately selected the time. My first available was 11:30am (which I was told is the earliest for this sailing), so I selected it. After completing the rest of the check-in, it wouldn't let me submit (no longer accepting 11:30a), so I had to select 12:00pm and then immediately did the check in for my wife who only had 12:00p available. I called RC and was told that my checkin was actually 11:30a and my wife's 12:00 (apparently all the 11:30a check ins were already filled...that quickly). The RC rep emailed me a confirmation that mine was 11:30a and that my wife could go with me at the same time. So I printed that email. But the website is still showing my check in as noon. I'm glad I called and escalated (the first rep didn't understand).

The app based muster drill is wonderful! We always do that the morning of embarkation and then our very first stop on the ship is our assigned muster station. We also always arrive at the port city the day before embarkation. But we typically find an area hotel with a "Park and Stay" package. Sometimes those hotels offer a shuttle either included in the package, or for a modest additional fee. Many of our sailings are out of Port Miami, where presently parking rates for a typical cruise are $25 + tax per night! Off-site parking is usually much less expensive, but of course requires finding transportation to the pier. Still, our experience has been that we save more than enough parking off-site to cover the cost of a rideshare or shuttle to and from the pier.
I would also suggest if your flying take an early morning flight, less likely to get delayed and canceled and if it does get canceled you will likely have other flights you can take later in the day.
I was totally amazed at how they did the check in…. It was a total cluster f^#% at terminal a in Miami when we got there… I thought for sure that it would be a total nightmare…. 15 minutes later I had a drink in my hand on the pool deck…. I’m still confused on that since with the Key we are guaranteed (I thought) any check in time we request. Would you be able to clear this up for me, please and thank you. 😊

Just to be clear, it's ok it's ok to get there early to park just don't go through security/enter the terminal until your boarding time? I have a 12:30 boarding at Port Canaveral and I'm now nervous about the parking situation!
We just returned from a 8 day cruise on Odyssey of the sea's and check in was so simple and smooth. Our check in time was at 1:30 and we arrived at the ship at 11am and was able to check in with no waiting. Odyssey is my new favorite ship! So beatiful and clean!
Went on Mariner of the Seas last year and it took over 5 hours to board. All the elderly people were passing out and no place to sit. Im not taking about in the terminal but on the ramparts walking on
Everytime i try an ckeck in on the app its down because everyone is blowing it up to check in and we have to go online and do it to get an early check in time....last 3 times.
Ok so im checking in my wife and i both... Can i check us both in together for the arrival time or do i have to do one at a time and do the arrival time twice!

Hi Matt, if two people are sharing a cabin, can both do the check in process on the app using their own payment card? Or does the person that booked the cruise need to process all info for both? My first cruise...does it show?😊 Thanks!!
I never hear mention about when and how you get access to your cabin - where do you get your key and when will you know you can go in your room - I also want one of the wearable bands where do I get one ?
From my understanding, they will announce over a PA when the rooms are ready. Then when you go to your room there will be a card outside your door. That is the seapass card you will use to get into your room. The bands can be purchased at guest services.
How can I complete the Health Questionnaire before boarding ( on board 20/04/23 , normally one day before will send reminder notification and email but dint receive )? I can't seem to access the Royal Caribbean app and receive any reminder or email from Royal Caribbean.
Our grandson is under our reservation. Can our daughter, who is under another reservation check him in as long as she know his reservaton number? That way she can enter all his info and request his embarkation time at the same time as the rest of her family and not with us grandparents ? She lives in another state.
Very helpful, thanks. One question. It appears our ship time is an hour different from local time at the port, which clock is used when boarding the ship?
I booked the key and was under the impression that we got to board the ship first as one of the perks so didn’t need a check-in time! First ever cruise so no idea what we are doing! What if I can’t get a 10:30am time, would they still allow us on the cruise at that time because of the key? My first cruise 14 night transatlantic from Barcelona on the enchantment
My understanding was the same! I thought once I have this Key I get an early boarding automatically. I was aware about check-in opening, but ignored it, because why check-in so early. And now I found this video and this is the first video, which explains, WHY you should have checked in early. Thanks to the narrator, of course. But I wish I had this information in advance.
I have purchased the Royal airport ground transportation to the port. When doing the on line check in what time do i choose for check in? I haven’t received information what time they will be taking us from the airport.
I cannot get the app on my Google Pixel 6 phone. I even have had the head IT guy on the ship look at it, then went to the Verizon store. No luck! So, don't assume everyone can get the app 😞
Well if you live in state where the cruise is leaving from time can choose later time I know most cruise lines 1:30 you cannot get on room so why get early checkin if live in state cruise leaves from
Staterooms are usually available in early afternoon. There will be a public address announcement once they're ready. And yes - your Sea Pass card acts as your stateroom key.
Question for the group...Travelling with my in-laws to Alaska on Ovation in June. Two reservation numbers that are linked on the RCCL website. Assuming I have all the necessary documentation, can I check on for all of us on both reservation numbers? Thanks
I have not been able to find an answer yet - If I have purchased The Key and there is the lunch on embarkation day - do I go to the muster station before or after this lunch? Also, does someone guide you to where you need to go for the lunch or will I just be on my own to figure it out? Thanks - love your videos!
@@angelastinnett4411 each adult can have there own. When I did my online check in it asked each adult to add in a credit card to have on file. You can use the same one for all of each put in there own.
If you're traveling with kids and one parent (or both) are not present, you'll need a notarized note saying that it's okay with the other parent (or both) that the kids are traveling with you. Just FYI - I've had to do this with my kiddos. It's never been asked for, but if something happens, you'll definitely want to have it.
Just a quick question: I received my Guest Vacation Documents for my upcoming cruise on Harmony. On one page there are information about „Charge Account & Cruise Ticket“. What should I do with this page, do I need to fill it out and bring it to the ship? I already checked in via app and deposit a credit credit. Thanks 🙏🏻
Great video. I’m going on the Symphony in 3 weeks for a 7 night New Years cruise. I took a little long to do the online check in so the earliest time I was able to choose was 12. I was hoping for an earlier time. If I get to the port before will I be able to board or are they really strict about boarding time? Does anybody have any advice or has experienced this before? Please help. Thanks!
Cruising out of Galveston, but our hotel is in Houston. Using the Royal Carribean shuttle service to get us from Houston to Galveston on cruise day. Will they be able to get us there at a time we pick so we can board early?
Thanks for the video! I have a question regarding the hand luggage. If I only carry that suitcase, should it be left for inspection and later arrive at the cabin or does it only go through inspection and can I take it with me?
You can do either. Give it to the Porter to arrive later in your room or carry it on. It will go thru security with you like at airport and then carry it with you until you can get into your room.
Great video! Question: Must both passengers use the app on their phone to check-in, or can just one person use the app to check both passengers in? Thank you.
This is exceedingly helpful. The thing I'm most concerned about is the rush to get a specialty restaurant scheduled when we first board. Any tips for that?
@@RoyalCaribbeanBlog Thank you for the tip. One other question about embarkation day. I have the drinks package and would like to start as soon as possible but was told by someone that you can't start using it until you leave port and are in international waters. I can't find that written anywhere. Is this true or can you order a drink as soon as you're onboard?
@@SinisterMD As far as I know you can start drinking as soon as you board. I had a drink package on Celebrity (Royal owns them) and starting drinking right away.
Yes, with the drink package you can go to any bar and if you haven’t already gotten in your room yet and have no ship card, the bartenders will ask for your room number. Very easy and nice choice getting the drink package. We got it on our last cruise and was so easy to get a drink. Will definitely do that next time as well. Enjoy your cruise!

I cannot get the app on my Google Pixel 6 phone. I even have had the head IT guy on the ship look at it, then went to the Verizon store. No luck! So, don't assume everyone can get the app 😞
Well if you live in state where the cruise is leaving from time can choose later time I know most cruise lines 1:30 you cannot get on room so why get early checkin if live in state cruise leaves from
some people like to sit at the pool, explore the ship , do last minute reservations , and grab lunch 🙂
So are the staterooms available when we're completed the muster? Will our SeaPass cards act as our stateroom keys?
Staterooms are usually available in early afternoon. There will be a public address announcement once they're ready. And yes - your Sea Pass card acts as your stateroom key.
How about how and when you receive the cabin card lock / charge card?
Question for the group...Travelling with my in-laws to Alaska on Ovation in June. Two reservation numbers that are linked on the RCCL website. Assuming I have all the necessary documentation, can I check on for all of us on both reservation numbers? Thanks
Yes, just did the same for our family cruise
How will Royal Caribbean tell me which dock the Explorer of the Seas will use in Citavecchia, Italy for the Oct 29 departure?
Good day Where do you print out your boarding pass on the app Where about 30 days from our sailing date thank you
can you upload a file with the passport scan and passenger photo, rather than. taking them during the checkin process?
I have not been able to find an answer yet - If I have purchased The Key and there is the lunch on embarkation day - do I go to the muster station before or after this lunch? Also, does someone guide you to where you need to go for the lunch or will I just be on my own to figure it out? Thanks - love your videos!
I know you know now but it’s marked where the lunch is. Plus I think there’s an hour window to eat the lunch. I ate then went to my muster station
How does someone purchase a key card?
Great video. Thanks for the info. How important is the check-in time? Any problems if you arrive late? Do you have to wait if you arrive early?
Do you need your passport handy for checking in on the app. I plan on checking in before doing the questionnaire.
What time does check in start on date it's first available? Midnight?
Aside from passport and setsail is there anything else that needs to be printed out and bring with?
They will ask for the credit card that's going to be associated with the sea pass cards
Do we have to have one credit card per room, or can each adult have their own credit card to attach to their sea pass card?
@@angelastinnett4411 each adult can have there own. When I did my online check in it asked each adult to add in a credit card to have on file. You can use the same one for all of each put in there own.
If you're traveling with kids and one parent (or both) are not present, you'll need a notarized note saying that it's okay with the other parent (or both) that the kids are traveling with you. Just FYI - I've had to do this with my kiddos. It's never been asked for, but if something happens, you'll definitely want to have it.
How long before the holiday does the check in open
Do we pack wine bottles in carry on? Or checked in bags?
Wine must be put in Carry-on. One bottle per adult cabin.
How to get luggage tag in color, can it be done in terminal, i dont have a color printer.
On the app. Should each person have their own login? Or can two people use the same login. It was confusing under a couple videos
Thank you.
I'm wondering about this, as well.
This is exceedingly helpful. The thing I'm most concerned about is the rush to get a specialty restaurant scheduled when we first board. Any tips for that?
Look for a crew member on the Promenade when you board with a sign that says "specialty dining reservations". Might save you a walk.
@@SinisterMD "... are in international waters." The only references I have seen to that deal with gambling at the casino.
Do we have to check our bag in? Pretty nervous about it all. It will be in Italy
I would double check the check in dates. The app had a different date than the website
Mine did originally and now they are both the same.
