So recently I had the great honour of playing Montague in this local theatre production of The Slipper and the Rose, how awesome it was.

When you think of arrange marriage among royalty with one not wanting it it is mostly the princess that doesn't want to be married off so I like when there is a reversal like this with seeing the Prince saying no to it.

Well...very obliquely, yes (this film was primarily for children, after all, so they couldn't really say it in so many words). For royalty, marriages were usually contracted for reasons of state (primarily in order to exchange resources and maintain the line of succession) while love and romance were strictly kept hush-hush.
Love is for peasants which we're obviously not
