If cops saw that in the moment you would both be dealt a careless driving for driving falling below the standard expected by a competent and carful driver and not driving in consideration for others, Road Traffic Act 1988 section 3. 3-9 points and a fine. Even though he had what he thought was a legitimate reason, put him in a position where he had no defence to his actions had he been caught or reported by another.
The last clip reminds me when I had a woman reverse into me in a brand new range rover, then jump out and threw herself onto the bonnet of my car denting it whilst her husband was calling a claims company. To cut a long story short I ended up in court. The woman was claiming thousands in compensation through the claims company. My solicitor had kept my dash cam footage a secret until the very end and when it was played in court showing her actions the judge dismissed everything and awarded me my costs, my counter claim for damages to my car, compensation and loss of earnings, about £15k in total. The claims company also took her to court to get their fees back as she had lied to them. Her insurance company took her to court to claim back the money they had paid her for a back and neck injury and repairs to her car. Everyone won and she owed close to £40k. I had to pass the claim onto the high court sheriffs to get my money which I did get as they seized her expensive car so her husband paid up. I found out later the others did the same and she had her car seized and sold along with a lot of other expensive items as they had no money left. The best part about it is I saw her in a supermarket car park a few months later with her husband in a ten year old ford mondeo. I laughed as I walked past.

He replied in another thread - there were cars behind him and he could not brake too harshly. The fault likes solely with the truck driver who has to give way and use the full length of the slip road.

Agree. It's all dual carriageway ring road here. This is by far the thing that causes the most accidents. 3 vehicles, 1 which can't slow down easily going into 2 lanes.
My favourite part about the Cobra clip is how he seemingly bumped the curb at 8:59, most likely due to staring at the rearview mirror and being blinded by his buddy.

8:08 that was an absolutely horrible pass by the driver and I really hope the cyclist is ok. It does go to show why cyclists are advised to take a more central position through pinch points in order to prevent such knobscrotches overtaking when it's not safe.

Multi award this week but I’d almost say he or she did it on purpose. 👍 The Mercedes driver wasn’t paying attention either and the wagon just steamrolled onto the carriageway. All three are bad drivers imo. Edit: In fact watching it again, I’d have dragged that dick truck driver out of the cab.
Cammer could have done more to de-escalate the situation. They could have turned a different direction and also ignored the ford which would have prevented hitting the curb. In this situation I would also call the police since this driver is clearly agressive and unfit to drive.

@@cudden22 you should. Jordan get cut off by the unsafe lane change made by the merc, the merc shouldnt have changed lanes like that even under the given situation. There is a reason why “canada’s worst drivers” have been demonstrated on how to do a mirror and shoulder check in an emergency. And it wasnt even an emergency here, at most an urgent action is required by the merc. But the merc could have easily stayed in lane if they know how to control their speed. If you dont know that, you are pretty much worse than them, and yes, they are terrible drivers.
Agreed; they also crossed a solid no-overtaking line with a crossing straight after that they obviously wouldn't be able to see anyone crossing because of the car in front. Also very interesting to see that the speed is disabled on the dash cam (i have the same model). Easily a dangerous driving offence in my opinion.
0:30 Silver vehicle does a minor lane incursion just ahead of you on a big roundabout. Do you: a. continue in your lane but stay back in case this is repeated or b. accelerate and position side by side in case an action video can be shot?
If dashcam videos show anything, it's that for some reason people refuse to give way. There are several instances in this weeks video where just easing off would have resolved the situation before it developed, instead they either accelerate to prove a point, or continue oblivious and get upset when things go sideways. The opening clip from Species5618 was clearly going to happen, and even the driver knew it as they were accelerating hard to keep on the inside of the car after the initial lane deviation. Have people lost the concept of defensive driving?
Seemed they also slammed the horn before the brake, when the other way around may have avoided the accident entirely. It's not hard to passively avoid being directly parallel to another car on a multilane roundabout in non-heavy traffic. I've always done this personally just by nature, out of recognising that the lane layout of EVERY roundabout isn't always going to be familiar to EVERY motorist on the road & have avoided quite a few potential collisions in my time on the road.

7:25 You really should pull up and wait. I tend to stop and put it in reverse with the indicator still on. Personally I think thats the best way of showing your intentions. Wait until its clear or someone gives way and only then reverse. Otherwise the traffic behind may not be sure what your doing.
Not only that but his reverse to the left where he is indicating starts with a forward right movement. You can't indicate one way then go another and expect people not be surprised. No need for that movement at all. Start a bit forward and reverse around when the traffic allows.
Musketeer makes a good point though that’s why if I were doing that (and I never need to) I’d indicate to the right to claim the space, not left to where I’m eventually going.
This. We reverse onto our drive daily. It's a busy main road. So we indicate left, pull up and wait until it's clear to actually manoeuvre onto the drive. It's not hard and avoids situations like this.
These are the ones that should be forwarded to the police. Not only did this fella almost potentially cause a fatal accident, he thought he was right in doing so by sending the clip in. It's these people that see a developing situation & fail to react appropriately that make the roads more dangerous.
Exactly what I was thinking 🤔 Probably indicated too early anyway which always gets driver behind guessing what the plan is then veers across the road to reverse onto the drive, so my guess is indicated left but turned right, in which case the finger is well deserved!
Also, (@ Dan) what your clip doesn't show is that you are approaching a junction. So it's entirely possible that i) The car behind assumed you're about to turn left at said junction and ii) is glancing in their rear view mirror before the junction. Wonderful stuff, context.

7:19 I hate to break it to you Dan but putting your indicator on doesn't give you the right to throw a 3 pointer in the middle of the road with traffic right behind you. You should've indicated and pulled to the side of the road, waited for nothing to be coming then reversed onto your drive. Presumably you indicated left so if the road was clear the 4x4 driver would have thought it safe to overtake you, you then swerve to the right to start the turn probably surprising/shocking them, hence the toot.

There's an old clip of some chancers doing exactly that, stopped in the road, made a woman stop then threw their pushing at her car and then fell onto her bonnet and the road. Stupidly she gets out and points at her dashcam so they leg it instead of calling the police and showing them when they arrived.
This has gotten quite common with everyone having dash cams, those are perfect drivers and never do anything wrong so far in their own bubble to realize and send them in.

The camera car was trying to get out of the main road that he/she was on so traffic can get by easier - as that road had a higher speed limit than the one turning into

Cammer could have done more to de-escalate the situation. They could have turned a different direction and also ignored the ford which would have prevented hitting the curb. In this situation I would also call the police since this driver is clearly agressive and unfit to drive.

There is a reason why “canada’s worst drivers” have been demonstrated on how to do a mirror and shoulder check in an emergency. And it wasnt even an emergency here, at most an urgent action is required by the merc. But the merc could have easily stayed in lane if they know how to control their speed. If you dont know that, you are pretty much worse than them, and yes, they are terrible drivers.
My nomination for TOTW is Mr Anonymous at 4:04 who instead chose to rapidly accelerate when he had, in my view, ample time to brake.
Funny thing is, it looks / sounds as though he'd started to brake before apparently making the decision to go around the car.

Agreed; they also crossed a solid no-overtaking line with a crossing straight after that they obviously wouldn't be able to see anyone crossing because of the car in front. If dashcam videos show anything, it's that for some reason people refuse to give way. There are several instances in this weeks video where just easing off would have resolved the situation before it developed, instead they either accelerate to prove a point, or continue oblivious and get upset when things go sideways.
The opening clip from Species5618 was clearly going to happen, and even the driver knew it as they were accelerating hard to keep on the inside of the car after the initial lane deviation. Have people lost the concept of defensive driving?

It's not hard to passively avoid being directly parallel to another car on a multilane roundabout in non-heavy traffic. I've always done this personally just by nature, out of recognising that the lane layout of EVERY roundabout isn't always going to be familiar to EVERY motorist on the road & have avoided quite a few potential collisions in my time on the road.
Not sure if Species5618 was just sitting in the silver car's blind spot for most of the trip around the roundabout...

7:25 You really should pull up and wait. I tend to stop and put it in reverse with the indicator still on. Personally I think thats the best way of showing your intentions. Wait until its clear or someone gives way and only then reverse. Otherwise the traffic behind may not be sure what your doing.
Not only that but his reverse to the left where he is indicating starts with a forward right movement. You can't indicate one way then go another and expect people not be surprised. No need for that movement at all. Start a bit forward and reverse around when the traffic allows.
Musketeer makes a good point though that’s why if I were doing that (and I never need to) I’d indicate to the right to claim the space, not left to where I’m eventually going.

This. We reverse onto our drive daily. It's a busy main road. So we indicate left, pull up and wait until it's clear to actually manoeuvre onto the drive. It's not hard and avoids situations like this.

7:19 I hate to break it to you Dan but putting your indicator on doesn't give you the right to throw a 3 pointer in the middle of the road with traffic right behind you. You should've indicated and pulled to the side of the road, waited for nothing to be coming then reversed onto your drive. Presumably you indicated left so if the road was clear the 4x4 driver would have thought it safe to overtake you, you then swerve to the right to start the turn probably surprising/shocking them, hence the toot.

There's an old clip of some chancers doing exactly that, stopped in the road, made a woman stop then threw their pushing at her car and then fell onto her bonnet and the road. Stupidly she gets out and points at her dashcam so they leg it instead of calling the police and showing them when they arrived.
