Will never forget wearing my white/red total 90s with jeans and a black shirt with flames on it to the year 3 disco. I was fighting the girls off that night 😂
Nobody ever gives credit to the EvoPowers, that was the best Puma football line ever, a world class boot worn by some of the most iconic footballers ever.
The Adidas Predators were my favorite, specially the black and red. Customizing them in video games was a favorite pastime back then. I don’t know if it’s just childhood nostalgia, but the 2000s really were a special time in football.
as a german. If you wore nike, you thought you were ronaldinho but you actually were antony. If you wore Puma, you were the "special" guy. And if you had adidas....well you were just a german
As someone who grew up in the peak of football, I never had the opportunity to own any of my favorite football boots until recently. My first boot I ever purchased were the Nike Tiempo Legend 9 Space Purples. The ones used in the recent world cup; however, kangaroo leather has been banned by many places, so obtaining that boot was difficult for someone in the United States. I also got the Nike Mercurial Superfly 9 Pink Foam after watching them in the recent Euros. And when they announced the return of the predator line, uk I copped some of them joints. I especially copped the Adidas Predator Jude Bell. One of the only boots that is wore by a current player that I own. I also got the remake of Toni Kroos’ adidas 11 Pro. And the only old boot I have gotten my hands on are the Nike mercurial R7 Safaris. Those have always been my dream boot. They’re just so clean
who remebers back in like 2017 those white and gold cr7 superflys they were amazing and the hypervenoms they were good too i had the white and green ones
I had those Iniesta boots as a striker. You're totally right, they are synononimus with control, which helped me with difficult receptions inside the box. They also helped me with mid and long distance shooting. I dramatically increased my scoring numbers with that boot. The best time to grow up was the Beckham-Ronaldinho Total 90 time. Boots have never been as beautiful as in that era.
Of course everyone's bratty sister and cousin are now the new designers. The new boots are ugly on purpose. Back then beauty was actually considered hyphy. Now, I guess they want different. Shoes are hideous now, bc these people are rioters.
Watching Ronaldo in mercurials doing step overs as a kid was peak. ❤ Football boot designs died after 2019, in my opinion. Now they got that ugly Nike Air logo in mercurials 🤢
Predators, Mercurials and puma futures are my opinion as I have all three. The puma future 7 being the most comfortable, the mercurial making you feel fast and slick and the predators almost making you feel like your wearing a little bit of a cheat code
Also during those times, whenever nike and adidas release a boot, they make sure that there is significant improvement from last years model Unlike today, we only get reskin of the last yr model and unnoticable "improvement"
Puma Kings , Adidas World Cups , Umbro Specials and even the first few Adidas Predators were boss when I was a teenager.... Any player wearing colourful boots just put targets on their backs and gave the message that you were soft ...
Good video my guy! I’m a big fashion lover! And a big part of fashion in football for me starts with the boots!! This video was a serious throwback to the amazing boots we used to have back then! Excellent video🔥👏
I remember my mother bought me a pair of Puma Kings and said “If they’re good enough for Pele, they’re good enough for you.” I’ve worn them ever since.
Yeah nah, it's just growing up. I'm a little older than you, and I thought football boots dropped off after 2007ish. We're just more into the marketing and personalities of our childhood and teenage years. When we grow up, we're simply less impressionable.
Finally someone talks about this. I feel like the line ups aren’t as strong anymore and the graphics used to be much more consistently striking or clean. People used to want Ronaldo’s boots when he was younger than Haaland, Vini etc. are now. He was 22 when he wore those crazy carbon fiber concepts in the UCL final.
I'm into boots and I like all the things about them, but TBH I've never really been bothered by who's wearing what. I's just about what I like. This year I got my first pair of Mizuno (Neo 4 beta) and OMG Mizuno where have you been all my life.
I distinctly remember 2010 World Cup every player was wearing the orange/silver Nike boot. Thats when I knew paying attention to players boots was no longer interesting. They removed the personality from players to express their boot style.
I miss the OG Nike Total 90s, Nike Tiempo Air Legend 2 especially the white and gold Ronaldinho wore, and the Adidas Predator Absolutes. Back then football boots really showed players style and identity. Miss them.
Not gonna lie, I’m at that age where I want to wear Skechers for comfort, and when Harry Kane teamed up with Skechers I was looking for a pair. For some reason they came out a year later for the US market.
i thought we were going to talk about the quality and durability too. Because that's for me the NUMBER one change in the boots in the last 10 years. How 300 boots last for 6 month now??? it is really mad
I think you got it bang on. Nearing my 30 years of age, growing up, brands dropped boots to represent the top players of the moments. T90: rooney/torres/sneijder CTR: iniesta/fabregas F50: raul/messi/villa Mercs: ronaldo/ribery What it seems like has happened adding on to your explanation is that brands have now gone to making boots that hold their own identity and subsequently players pick what they prefer now instead of getting picked.
This is a good breakdown, I used to get the Pro Direct booklet just to thirst over boots I couldn't afford. I don't know if the new generation are hyped about boots as we were. Have boots reached their peak.
Nike Mercurial Vapor 8 bright mango have special place in my heart. When I saw Ronny with them tearing up Laliga I begged my parents for them. I got them and I still remember how I felt wearing them to this day. And the ad with Rafeal Nadal and Ronny was perfect.
The Yellow and Black Nike Total 90s were always my go to! Even the replicas at Academy were good quality. Mercurial where the reason why I stopped playing. Too many ankle injuries that then resulted in an MCL tear.
Only real ones know about the neon green with red T90s 🔥 5th grade me had superpowers in recess with the Neon green T90s Wish they still were made today.
I've bought a lot of boots in my time nearly 20 years playing twice a week, I've had them all, Pumka kings, Mercurials, F50s etc etc and I'm sorry but you cannot get 'good' boots for £50. Those boots are intended for people who will play like 3 games one summer, chuck the boots in the cupboard and never look at them again. If you intend to actually use them regularly, the extra money does actually mean extra quality and durabillity. Something most don't know is that if any addidas or Nike boot fails within 2 years they wiill cover it under warranty. This year I got new Addidas preds and first I went for the £60 pair in white, the sole came away within a couple of months, returned them, got another pair, same problem! In the end I got them to send me the £200 boots (I paid a little extra but not the full whack, Addidas do 3 levels of the same boot, £50 to £200) and they are holding up great, well past the 6 month mark with these.
fun fact: Neymar never actually used Hypervenoms in games... the stud pattern and outsole shape didn't fell 100% good on him so Nike made Mercurials modified and stylized as Hypervenoms specifically for him to keep performing on the pitch at the highest level while maintaining the propaganda for the Hypervenom line
You just unlocked a memory for me. On my 13th birthday, I got a pair of them gold and neon yellow tiempos 😂😂😂 ugly afffff but I remember being so hyped because they were acc bruh acc was fraud !!!! lol.Love from Dublin jib
for me its Nike Mercurial Vapor XI that Neymar wore when he recently left barca to join psg it made me fall in love with that it was just like i cant describe it i just wanted to marry that boot sadly i never had the money to buy as a Neymar fan at that time and still for me that boot is a must to buy and the boot which was my 2nd fav that neymar wore Nike Mercurial Vapor "Puro Fenomeno" it also made me buy it but sadly i could never buy it because of my parents and i was a kid playin with bare feet back in the day
Nike wanted Neymar to be the face of the Hypervenom but he didn’t, his best years were with Mercurials, and as a matter of fact he wore Mercurials disguised as Hypervenoms..
