    You definitely did your homework. That one turned out Very Nice. Palm wood can be finicky, as you found out. Try Osage or Desert Ironwood next!

    Beautiful work! I love black palm. I actually used it on the first full tang knife I ever made too. It was a hunting knife for my brother. Thanks for the content!

      @@Inmyshed maybe some day! I'm pretty camera shy, but my wife keeps telling me I should try making/ posting videos of my work. After 3 years of making knives, I'm just now getting confident enough to show off SOME of them. Still not confident enough to try a folder though. Those things still seem like sorcery to me 😂

    Hey, for doing the handle a faster way for full tang is to tape the scales up and glue them together, then do the same with the tang. Drill the holes and remove excess material, then remove the tang and do the fronts up 100%. Then just take the scales apart and your handle is good to glue up. Saves a lot of time doing it this way, and your holes and fronts will always match up and be straight/symmetrical. This way you don’t have to drill twice as much and use pins to hold it all together while grinding.

    That’s a beautiful looking knife!
    How do you compare the making of a full tang knife to a folding knife?

    • @Inmyshed
      @Inmyshed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thank you! Well, first of, it took about 1/3 of the time! hehe. The folding knives have moving parts that needs to line up perfect. Its always very satisfyingly when I have filed one stroke x 500 trying to fit it up perfectly and it finally goes "click". The full tang was more or less just shaping. I enjoyed it! I think I will make one for my self next time. Just slightly bigger.

    Great content, I've subscribed,
    I've been wanting to try making a folder for some months now, what steel would you recommend for corrosion resistance that's also not too difficult to work with? Thanks !

    • @Inmyshed
      @Inmyshed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thank you! I have only worked with o1 tool steel for the most part. Right now I am testing out A2 steel and Elmax steel. I think they are ok to work with, but I think you need a kiln to harden it. Right now I am making a larger bushcraft type knife out of A2. Its semi-stainless. And Im gonna etch it with ferric acid for more corrosion resistance.

    Verry nice knife but why do you always file the Profile out and not Grund it?

    • @Inmyshed
      @Inmyshed  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Thank you! Because my belt sander is really weak, and the roughest belt I can get for it at my local store is 110 Grit. If i press the metal hard on the belt, it stops. This makes filing faster. I am saving for a real belt sander now. I hope to get it in a month or two!

      I do use it some times. But I get so close when using the cutting disk that I feel like the file is just as easy. Besides, I do love filing. Hehe
