    Watching this in 2024. This is full of pain. And real suffering. And though at times he made me laugh, I still could not stop the tears or the heaviness that weighs down in my heart for him. I felt every assault of insanity, narcissism, psychosis, selfishness, stupidity and evil on his person by those less than he - and they were less by their own design and choosing. Titus has gone above and beyond the mire they tried to bury him in - he has chosen life over spiritual and mental death. This man, Titus, has gone through hell from his infancy on up. It's so easy to tell. He paints the perfect picture of a victim with a good soul suffering under the mania and confusion of evil. My heart is heavy. I hope he knows how important he truly is, how deeply loved by so many and by God Himself. I am happy to hear he finally found a woman worthy of him whom he shall treat with dignity and respect, unlike that which he received before. I hope she treats him with the same dignity, respect and sanity he gives her. That is true love. May this new love be restorative, life-affirming, SANE, generous, easy to get along with, and the mirror of his own beloved soul. And may it last a lifetime.

      Been there! Back when I was in college, my incredibly hot albeit psycho bipolar ex-girlfriend tried stabbing me, too. My reflexes saved me. I caught her wrists at the last second. That sharp sound of her wrists smacking into my palms was like a hypnotist snapped his fingers in front of her eyes. She dropped the knife and was horrified by what she had nearly done! Half a heartbeat later, she saw it. She saw the look in my eyes that that was it! No amount of, "I'm sorry," "I forgot to take my meds," or playing suck-face and hugging away my anger was gonna fix it. No way was I going to shrug off her crazy again and allow her to reel me back into her vagina where I'd forget everything and forgive everything. I whispered, "Get..........out." She did. It just goes to show you that poison can come in some very pretty bottles, fellas!

    Man I love this special. I always find it so difficult to pitch Titus shows to friends, cause like... I don't know how to describe it. It doesn't feel like typical standup, with the sort of "themes" to each show, the fact that he doesn't feel like he's rushing from "joke" to "joke" but can let a story breath, be a bit serious here and there, take you through some other emotional reactions instead of just laughs, even just the lack of holding a mic. It almost feels like a bunch of related art forms: one-man shows, spoken word storytelling, stand up, even bits of somewhat motivational speaking, all got thrown in a blender and out came.... this.
    There's nobody else that I know of doing quite this type of show, and I love it.

    My parents saw a Titus performance once when he was a struggling comedian. They were pretty horrified as he shared his personal stories, and they never stopped being horrified by them over the years.
    I, however, discovered him with his TV show on Fox. I was a kid then (I'm too lazy to look up when that was exactly - I remember being a kid then and never missing an episode while it was on the air) and I found his stories to be oddly (to my parents, that is) inspirational. I was a seriously introverted kid and teen, bordering on being straight-up anti-social - even contemplated suicide myself during that period. When I finally started getting through that period and the urges finally started fading, I discovered Titus' specials. I could tell how many of his show's episodes were based on his stories, and I found that rather comforting, especially around his End of the World tour. Hearing his new personal stories then felt like an affirmation, that even after all the crap he went through in his life and was still bound to experience more whether he wanted it or not, he would keep on going. That gave me motivation to keep going myself, and it was around that time that I also became a fan of Lewis Black, George Carlin, Greg Geraldo, and more, and all of them - Titus included - contributed to me being such a hopeful pessimist, one who hopes for the best to happen but expects the worst out of people (this mindset has yet to fail me). I had not gone full force with this philosophy then, but it had sprouted. And while I still developed a small circle of friends who watches out for each other while trying to minimize any need for an intervention at any point (which we have been successful with so far), we can quickly tell who the worst of the worst are and are able to minimize - or even prevent - any interaction with them, and that's all before such @$$holes are given pedestals and microphones.
    Then came his Love is Evol special, and I found myself going, "Holy f^^^" repeatedly. Yeah, I laughed hard back when I first saw it (I still laugh about as hard now), and that moment where he contemplated suicide himself, I was floored (but not by laughter - not at first at least). And yet, when he had that moment of clarity afterwards, I found that incredibly inspirational. Even though I've never been in a relationship, I understood how helpful and destructive they can be, and hearing him made me realize, "I haven't been through the worst yet, but those religious nuts known as my parents are not helpful at all. Keep going, prove those born-again idiots just how f^^^ing wrong they are, and above all...quit being a wussy."
    This has kept on going and building with every special he's made, and his views are a borderline godsend, especially in these times. There are a couple of things that I disagree with him on (mildly, just so you know), but I am grateful for even those disagreements. I hope Chris keeps going, keeps performing, keeps entertaining, and keeps giving us all (himself included) light and hope.

    • @ericamann2533
      @ericamann2533 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The most difficult part of that is the way associating with narcissists and sociopaths in any form starts to create a confusion deep within yourself as to whether or not it's actually YOU who is the narcissist or sociopath. It's like, you know it isn't you...but wait, maybe it is you...but no, what you're seeing and hearing isn't a part of who you are at all...but, uh, maybe it is because why would the running commentary be so consistent otherwise...is your internal narrative flawed, or is something else going on here...until eventually...oh, fuck, I guess it IS me...but it's not...but now it's so ingrained in your head that it is that you're forever paranoid that you are that person.
      It's terrible.
