I did a skydive and one of my mates was terrified. Instructor (trying to be helpful, I’m sure) said: “You AREN’T afraid of heights, you are afraid of the chute not opening and hitting the ground and dying”, and my mate said “How tf is THAT helping???”😂😂😂
@@NoseCandyKermit It's really not that tall. It's called the auckland sky tower. It's not really that big and you don't even jump from the top you jump from halfway up. A plane would be much higher up than where you bungee off the sky tower. That being said I'm not doing fuckin either lol.

Dude... I somehow didn't know that ppl jumped off the needle in Auckland. My friend and I were having lunch, and a dude jumped off and I freaked out. My friend had to explain it all to me ... Sorry to everyone whose lunch I ruined lol
after having worked for a bungy jumping company in queenstown (south island of NZ) I can say that the staff deliberately do everything they can to terrify the customers before sending them off. my favourite thing to do was as they were stepping off the ledge I would start yelling not to jump and that there was a problem with their harnesses. it made for some pretty amazing video/photo packages

I love this story!! I was 19 & went to Vegas w/ my Grandma&my parents. We actually were staying at the stratosphere. I believe it was within the first few years it was open. 1998 (?) Anyway, I was terrified of heights so my grandma paid for me to do the reverse bungee on the top of the Stratosphere. Alone. It was scary but I'm glad I did it but in the moment of trying to get out of it, I was trying to convince my Grandma that I didn't think I could do it alone & was trying to get granny to go with me in desperation actually pleading at one point. My Dad just looked at me and said, " She bought you the ticket.. and you need your grandma to go with you?" So anyway, I did it. Alone.. And it was a great memory.

Made me remember when I was forced to the top of one of those needles in Canada on a family trip as a kid. I'm up there, barely peeking over the edge of the glass portion of the floor. My dad comes from behind and silently pushes me perfectly into the center of the glass. I can only imagine the sound I made, but I know I instantly crumpled to the ground, and crawled off like I was on thin ice. On the verge of tears with terror the entire time. Lol
OMG, I laughed so hard. 🤣 I also have a fear of heights and I can 100% say that I am not as comfortable with laughing at myself as you are. I probably would have vomited the second I looked down. I wouldn't have to jump bc the pure fear would make me pass out, fall and miss the entire experience. Thanks for the video.
I don't have a fear of heights. Very secure of heights when I have control. Grew up climbing trees and on the roofs and no prob.....discovered in Niagara falls have a massive fear of falling on the lookout. Took me forever to figure it out that it is not the fear of heights.....no problem with any roller coaster yet certain open air ferris wheels....

But I would be a completely different sort of “terrified” as the woman doing the pushing… it may be involuntary but someone grabs on to your arm or claws at your shirt (reflexively) and pulls you down with them!?

It's not the height that gets me. I like the height. It's nice, makes for a nice view. It's the falling from it. And that sudden stop at the bottom. That right there is what gets me.
One of the few things I'm proud of is making sure that none of my kids have irrational fears. I made sure that they had nothing to fear but themselves not trying hard enough. Epic show sir

On AcornTV, there is a series that is currently streaming called "My Life is Murder" - don't know if you have Acorn, but the show stars Lucy Lawless (of "Xena: Warrior Princess" Fame" who plays a retired Police Detective whose bosses keep tapping her for help on unsolved murders. First season? Good! But set in Australia... Second and third season? Set in Auckland... I bring this up because the very first episode of the second season features a guy jumping off that needle... and every single scene that shows it (in the background) it's obviously a guy in a onesie and all you can hear is "AHHHHHHH!" all the way down. It is repeated continuously through the first few minutes... Could the show recording have captured your jump? 😁

I did go on the Terrifying Pterodactyl at Cave of the Winds in Colorado and did 2 rides at the top of the Strat. Still haven't done bungee jumping or skydiving. I get paralyzed with fear and scream but I'm always glad I did it.
