- In this video based on two of my subscribers request ill be using the DV1 basecoat gun for clear, while showing you guys the best tip size to use.
An expensive gun that can do it all. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
I found a great video of a guy breaking down the dv1 base and clear guns. They are both the same. It’s the caps that are different, the B+ cap and C1 caps are the same also. And obviously the tip size if you want to change them will differ. The reason I’ve been searching is because I ordered the wrong one and a base one arrived. I’m just going to run with the base gun as a clear gun with the b+ cap on 1.3mm set up.
Thanx for the vid. Just tried my dv1 base 1.3 plus cap with solvent base and clear. Worked great. Sprayed at 1.5 bar en clear at 1.7 bar.
Glad to hear it. And it was no trouble.
Everything fits from the clone to the real and so on
Except the cap
My regulator took a dump so I decided to clear with this gun. I would have never thought it would work. Thanks man flawless
There you go 😁 awesome glad it worked out 💪
You can pretty much spray most things through most guns
@@mariopaintclass6091 does the c2 cap fit it dude
I. Only play at home got the DV1 BPLUS 1.3 have sprayed base and clear . gun is so easy to Use all I did was play with air pressure first as I said very easy gun to operate
Hi Mario and what a beautiful finish from the DV1 base gun, a few people have said that the base gun lays clear really well but I've never tried it but looking at the finish you have here it obviously does a great job👍
I have a 1.2 in my DV1 base with the B+ aircap and a 1.3 in my DV1 clear gun with the C1 cap, I do have the C2 cap but find that it doesn't give quite as flat finish which is what I always aim for but I suppose the C2 is ok for the OEM finish. Hope you and your family have a great Christmas and New Year🥳👍John UK.
Thanks John. The guns worth the money. I had a great Christmas still enjoying it. I hope you had a great one too.
I’ve noticed that if you want flat clear the c1 cap it’s slower but flat if you need factory peel use c2 cap it’s larger ports will be faster but more factory peel to it.
I love the dv1 base coat gun for base best base coat gun out there I think.the base coat gun for clear tried it twice didn't like had to sand and buff bot a fan of that
Awesome video buddy that gun perform good in both base and clear🤣 wonderful I really enjoyed that video much love ❤️ have a bless Christmas 🎄you and the family enjoy your Sunday as usual and stay safe nuff respect ✊ 🙏🙏👌👌👍👍💪💪💯💯🎄🎄🎁🎁
Thanks 🙏 same to you and your family
Looks good. Helpful video
Wow, very nice glass finish ❤
Thanks 🙌
Hi mario, thanks for the tips and video..this is awesome..i got dv1 1.2 B+ base ,what would you recommend air pressure, fan and fluid for base and clear?.. i can only afford to buy this, that's why i don't have extra parts..thank you in advance 😄👍
Thanks for watching. 15 to 17PSI for PAINT. Wide open fan. And two to 3 turns out from full fluid. This one gun can do it all. Check out this video to see exactly how I set it up. DVI BASECOAT GUN REVIEW

@@mariopaintclass6091 thanks Mario..still lots of things to learn..😄👍
Oh ya,,I'm been told that air pressure are different on digital and non digital version..they say I have to up the air pressure a bit for non digital..is that true?
Looks really good…merry Christmas
Thanks 🙏 merry Christmas 🎄
Hey Mario I bought the new dv1 clear gun and it seems that the dv1 b plus cap and dv1 c 1 cap from clear gun are the same including the flow caps are identical. So 1 gun does both. No problems
@@michaelbarber6211 👋 this is why I just stick with the base gun 👍
Heh, using a DV1 is so out of range of me as a DIY, tho I have a clone (about 120$) with a 1.3 . It is about the same as the clone gti pro :) Superb finish Mr. teacher!
Thanks!
Nice to see a next jam
Bless up
cheers mario, would like to ask i have a dv1 base with B+ hvlp set 1.3, if i use it for clear is it only the air caps i replace or it should be in set like the nozzle, aircap and pins? thank you more power!!
That’s a good question. It looks like the same spray gun, except the aircap. Would it be possible just to change the aircap so you can use one gun for base & clear ?
👋 if you guys notice I didn’t go through the trouble of switching out parts I just use different tip sizes. However if I’m to replace parts it would just be the air cap and the tip size. But based on my experience with the gun nothing needs to be changed except the tip and the pressure.
@@mariopaintclass6091 Thank you Mario for thanking the time to respond. Learning a lot from you!
One more question: Basecoat you spray at about 17 PSI and clearcoat at about 26 PSI, measured at the digital gauge on top of the gun?
@mariopaintclass6091 I have the non digital version was these readings at the digital guage or at the connection before the gun?
I’m also curious
Nice clean job bro 👍
Thanks
@Mario paint class hey Mario good job with the DV1 base gun -- could you do a demonstration with the SAGOLA 4600 DVR CLEAR GUN 1.2 XL - thanks
The DV1 clear coat gun is my dream for laying down that money maker coat 🤩😍😜
Couldn’t agree more
Would you buff and polish this finish or leave as is? Do you have any videos showing how to buff and polish your clear when it ends up having light orange peel?
Usually there’s no peel just dirt nibs. I have no videos buffing orange peel but I can make one in the future
Mario, in one of your other videos you say that this gun is not good for clear coat. What changed between now and then? Different air cap or settings?
Thanks!
I don’t remember saying that. However I’ve come to realize that most of my base guns work just as good with the clear coat once you understand how your gun works and the tip to use.
It was in this video about 10 minutes in. The reason I ask is because I wanted to my DV1 base coat gun for clear and wanted to make sure I was getting the gun setup correctly. Thanks

@@sethtemple5477 yea man it works great
I have just ordered the DV1 for base and was getting ready to also order either the DV! clear gun or an Iwata WS400 for clear, based on this video Im not sure now. Is it really worth getting the Ws400 for clear or can I depend on the DV1? I run a 60s and older restoration/ hot rod shop and do occasional painting.
While the DV1 is a great gun. I wouldn’t want to use it for both paint and clear all the time . Getting the DV1 clear or WS400 or any other clear gun is not a bad idea. Thanks for watching 🙌
@Mario paint class Thank you, and I've just subscribed after watching some videos, great work!
@@jayocular Welcome!
Cheers brother which spray gun do you recommend for clear coat thanks
It’s personal preference mate. There’s so much to choose from. Weather expensive or inexpensive. How much are you willing to spend on a gun?
I saw the master 44 I was thinking to purchase what do you think
@@SashaDichkovski i highly recommend that gun here’s a link to my review on it. FYI i set up a play list with all my gun reviews. th-cam.com/video/8DQj3pgjnjY/w-d-xo.html
Thanks brother 🙏🏼
What’s the difference in the base gun and clear gun? Why do they market them as for one or the other if the base can do both just fine?
Imagine you're producer of the paint guns and you have opportunity to sell 2 gunz instead of 1 :)
Which is better for solvent 1.2 or 1.3
They are both good for solvent.
Muy bueno amigo
Gracias
Guess what.. look at the air cap from the base gun and the clear gun. They are identical. Devilbiss wants you to buy 2 guns.
Nice
Thanks
Have you tried the DV1 with single stage?
@@KenOfHouston never tried it with single stage. Have you?
@@mariopaintclass6091 No. I used to do quite a bit of boat painting by brush with Algrip and Sterling - it turned out really nice. Now I'm using single stage on small planes and have ordered a DV1 clear coat. Small planes are much more difficult to paint because of the rivets and having to paint so many odd angles (including a lot of upside-down). All sanding must be done by hand so rework is a real bummer. I'm hoping that the DV1 will make this easier.
@@KenOfHouston tuff work. I believe the DV1 will be of great help. You should consider getting the C2 cap.
Is it wide open fan and volume?
Yes wide open fan. And if by volume you mean fluid then yes. You can always dial them in a few turns it wouldn’t hurt.
Can I use the DV1 clearcoat gun for basecoat ?
I’ve never tried it. But I’m sure you can
Thanks
@@mariopaintclass6091 I would like to see a video how the DV1 Clearcoat work with BaseCoat
