Is a good clear coat for a beginner to spray with? I tried using some cheap stuff in the past and my clear coat came out dry looking with extreme dry spots.
Hey man, this is definitely a good clear to start with. Cheap clear has low gloss so it takes a lot more passes to get good glossy coverage.
@@mariopaintclass6091 Oh thanks for the explanation. I cleared a car yesterday with some cheap stuff I bought and it came out dry. I'm going to buy some of this clear you used It looks like good stuff. Can I put more clear over it today or do I have to resand it down?

Yes, but often times I use the same gun for both. Like the tekna or the master pro series

Thats a good looking color 😁 loves that blue. Its true bro, the common panel for clear dry spots is the middle of the hood. Ur technique is good, overlapping 90% and slow down. I found out high solid clears are abit more dry spots perhaps its more thicker to spray.
I know you know more about painting than I ever will, and probably you are not wearing a mask because you are making a video, but in my opinion, the health risk of hardener is maximum when you are mixing, when the can is open and pouring that the vapors are free. True when spraying it is atomized but it is already blended into paint. Be careful man.

i sculpt and paint sculptures that are coated with bedliner (like raptor or rhino liner) it's got a surface that ranges from pebbly orange peel to chunky oatmeal or sandpaper. it's all over the place. they (management) don't wanna spend any time in finishing that surface. and then they choose high gloss. i tell them all of its wrong it is all completely wrong. how are you gonna wipe that clean? and then they ask why the gloss looks uneven. well you got me putting gloss on texture like pumice. they don't listen and don't understand.
Ugh I’d be pulling my hair out. This happens for too often when the actual creative ones or people who know what they’re doing are handicapped by managements stupidly LOL
Thats a lot of air humidity, does your booth have a dehumidifier system ? What temps/RH %´s would you say causes risks of blushings ?
We can control our booth temperature to a minimum. As to avoid blushing it also depends on the hardener or reducer. So depending on how cold it is use medium, fast, or extra fast. If it’s hot use slow.

Hello, those tiny dots are dirt nibs. You have to make sure that you clean the panel you’re painting thoroughly, and the surrounding area. However dirt nibs can be easily buffed out.

Mario this clear don't use reducer?
No just hardener. However you can add reducer 10 to 15% or in this case I would mix it 2:1:1 2 parts clear, 1 part hardener, 1 part reducer.
Hey Mario that is one nice glassy finish, I love my DV1 base gun as it lays solvent base really nice and smooth, not sure what you do but I find you don't always need a drop coat using that gun.
You said the C2 cap is better than the C1 for the clearcoat which is strange as I much prefer the C1 with the 1.2 tip and can get a flatter coat of clear with that setup but I suppose it's down to personal preference and spraying style, nothing wrong with the finish you got with the C2 👌
I can't remember if you have been over to my IG page lately Mario but I've just invested in a Sata X5500 RP 1.2 I Digital for clear and have to say that I'm loving this gun it's just effortless at getting the clear on, have you used this gun mate? 🙏👍 John UK.
Thanks John. It’s personal preference I just find that the C2 cap gives me less work when clearing a lot of panels or an entire car. Nothing wrong with the C1. As for the Sata 5500 that gun is an excellent gun one of my next buy.
Hi John, just reading your comments to mario & like you I do use the c1 cap for deep builds like bonnets but generally I use the c2, but moving on, I have just bought the new satacc limited edition red that I have heard all the hype about, I know it's going to perform well but I think it's the most uncomfortable gun in the hand, I mean the Pro lite & dv1 just feel like part of your hand but I was shocked at the poor poor handle & trigger combination, I feel like getting the sander to the finger rest it's just sat on my finger awkward and the rear gun rest part doesn't sit right on thumb and forefinger if you know what I mean, for the money I think it needs to go back to the drawing board & plastic knobs as well, can't believe no one else has mentioned this or is it just me, I don't think so

Wait 1.15 bar is only 14 to 16 psi ? For clear ? Just double checking , I also use dv1 but can't figure out this uhs clear it's very runny and I normally spray at 26 to 30 psi.
Yes these guns don’t require that much pressure. The compressor could also play a big role in the amount of pressure you use. Once you spray a clear 3 or more times you will start to figure it out. What’s the issue you’re having?

Good info…..so 1.3 is ideal for a high solids clear with pearl pigments mixed into it??……i will have to remember the 90% overlap on the hood and roof next time i shoot
Yes 1.3 is ideal for metallic, pearl, clear, and even sealer.
Hi mate, first time spraying a clear on my car project. I was watching another TH-camr saying to use fast hardener to avoid runs
so I did use a fast hardener and stupidly I sprayed it today on a very hot day in Australia (35 degrees Celsius which is about 95 Fahrenheit) and I got all these dots like craters in the moon .
I think it’s because because the 2 pac clear dried too quick abd didn’t allow enough time to the clear atomised dots on panels to merge and combine.
I had to spray 2-3 times in one spot to get the holes filled which I eventually did so used a lot of clear fortunately didn’t get any runs .
Also I got a lot of dry dust on panels n& Roof because the clear drying super fast I think.
Do You think the issues I having are due yo this wrong selection of hardener ?

Yes your choice of hardener was wrong. You only use fast hardener on cold days. You needed slow.
@@mariopaintclass6091 thanx mate, checked next day and i decided to sanding my clear with 400/600 and respraying because it got so many dots like craters .
The most annoying thing out of all is the fact I had a medium Clear hardner abd was initially going to use it.
but because of watching a TH-camr saying to use fast to avoid runs , I decided to use fast. . Lesson learned the hard way.
Will definitely use slow hardner if it’s above 85/90 decades Fahrenheit(37 degrees Celsius in Australia) or medium if below 85 here . It’s summer in Australian now 🥵
Also I used grease n wax remover 2 times followed by tack cloth to do wipe down so I am ruling out out contamination.
I also got a good air filter to catch the moisture in the air compressor like a toilet paper roll filter device. so moisture is not a cause fur these dots too I thinking . It’s purely the wrong hardener I used because the dots are everywhere in the paint not localised .

How much base coat u put on ?
are hvlp guns more difficult to spray with? I'm about to try my new Kiwami4 BA, which is my first non-hvlp gun, for base and clear and only use my Devilbuss hvlp finishline flg4 for primer or sealer.
Hey man thanks for your comment. Hvlp guns are better to use less over spray ,where you will find the biggest difference is air consumption. Let me know what you experience when you try it.
@@mariopaintclass6091 yeah the Kiwami4 has way more overspray and uses a lot of material. I was going to spray to base and clear with the Kiwami4 but the Kiwami4 is using my base my quick. Also I can't get a good spray pattern with base coat. It'll be a split pattern or heavy on the bottom. For clear, it's a great gun though. Maybe my base is too thin. I shot my best finish a couple nights ago on a bumper. It looked perfect. I prefer shooting base with the devilbuss finishline 4 and then clear with the Kiwami4. My devilbus started leaking from the tip though, on my last job. Every time I paint, something goes wrong, it seems like. Thank you!

Mario just subscribed to your channel cracking colour mate I painted my bumper ages ago devibliss gti pro 1.2 fluid tip but have the 1.3 came out a bit rough not smooth sometime said not close enough at the bumper 6 inches away 👍

@@ANDY-we7mr Andrew that could be a number of things double check your pressure, paint viscosity, make sure the surface is smooth. 6 inches is good enough if you go closer just move faster. Using a 1.3 shouldn’t be the problem

Jamaican are very good car sprayer, I use to work with a guy in London UK near Waterloo Station and I couldn't match his paint job he was amazing and he was so skillful in matching the colour.

That’s in bars in psi it’s 16. The DV1 guns don’t require that much pressure for other guns you will not get away with it.
