I’ve recently got these instead of the hoka mafate speed 4. They are absolutely brilliant. Handles all sorts of trials, great fit, comfortable and just a fun shoe. Looking forward to my ultra in them.
Best max cushion trail shoe out there; doesn't feel as clunky as the More v2 or v3, not as strangely shaped at the TOPO Ultraventure 3. Great grip, stability, resilience, tread, comfort... you name it. Maybe a bit more porous drainage in toe cap would be nice as it does soak up the moisture but it's so great for those long easy trail days. Have 200 miles or so on mine already and love 'em. The v1 had that ridiculous, sometimes painful, lacing system and a dumbo-long tongue that would stick out and collect rocks all day when running. Not so with these trailchonks. I have the original Trabuco Max. I like the cushioning and despite the high stack height, it didnt feel unstable. What i didn't like was the fast lace that didnt work well. I changed those to original laces but the shoes do not have extra holes for runner's knot. The tongue was puffy and stands out in a weird position. I hope they fixed all that in the Max 2
Try the Nike Wildhorse 8, picked up a pair when Nike had the 25% offer on. They are soft enough to do lots of miles but also do a good job on the technical trails, weight isn’t crazy either so it’s a good buy even at £115
The grip on the new Wildhorse has elevated it to being a proper trail shoe on all surfaces, something I thought I’d never would say about Nike trail shoe.
I am 307 lbs and I brought this shoe on my recent 15 mile hilly trail run and had zero leg or foot pain. I normally have foot pain after about 10 miles. It was a little short, so I returned and ordered 1/2 size bigger. Hoping that make the perfect heavy runner shoe. I typically use Hoka Speedgoat 5 Wide.
@@mousemaing81 ha. Update. I wore the trabuco last weekend for the W’East Wonder 50k (missed cutoff at 23 miles). They were a little too squishy and big on the narrow single track. Legs still recovered quickly with them, but feet took a beating due to the constant flexing.
@@markw76 Dammit! Finding the perfect unicorn shoe for 100kg+ guys is tricky, to say the least. For even surfaced runs, The Invincible 3s are phenomenal, but the ideal trail shoe is alas, elusive.
Love this shoe. I'm around 30 mile in with it. Don't disagree with much that you said. The Asics runs 1/4 size small in my opinion, frustrating. However, the Speedland GS:TAM is the best trail shoe out there no matter what you want to do. The philosophy going in with this shoe is no compromise, all materials are the best that can be sourced. The Boa system is sooooo good. Mrs. Fordy is going to be a tough sell on this one. $275.00 US.

I love it. I got it in February. The tongue moves around on me which is annoying but doesn’t hurt the ride

Please nike trail shoes have horrendous grip.
@@SergiuSalcau00 that’s all changed with the Wildhorse 8. This is now one of my all time favourite daily mixed terrain trail shoes.

Damn, big boy getting after it. Salute! The New Balance More Trail V3 is phenomenal for us big guys too...True to size fit.
