    Whenever I see these videos saying how intense the course is regarding homework, I feel more and more that I should take the one day a week option and do it over a longer stretch. I don't want to rush it, I want to be able to savour and process it. I might well do this once my daughter is no longer home-educated. I find it a very exciting idea.

      With the online CELTA there’s also the option of an evening CELTA course done over an even longer period of time.

    Hi poppy I started celta last week at Leicester uni. Had my 1st 20 min lesson, which i dont think went well I ran out of material as i was doing a topic on compound adjectives with another person who went before me and he said all the points which left me with not alot to say or do. I was the last to teach out of 5 who went before me in the same class but by the time i came on stage to teach i found the students all drain out and not responsive at all. I tried to engage the class with a joke and pic particular students to answer questions but i got not much from them. In the end i was done in 11mins. I have taught secondary IT before and i thought i would do better, how wrong I was. I feel awful as students who haven't taught before i felt did better than me. Any advice? Thanks Shaz

    Is the CELTA even more stressful if you don't have any prior teaching experience? Or would it be the same as any other TEFL course in that regard? I am graduating college this December with my B.A. in Spanish, I have a very small amount of prior teaching experience just with volunteering to help with some English language learning groups. I want to teach English abroad but I'm trying to determine whether CELTA would be too overwhelming for me given my amount of experience

    I applied for the CELTA course in London and got offered a place and then pulled out. The idea of standing in front of 12 trainee teachers and your class and teacher just caused me so much stress. I couldn't sleep for a week after being offered a place. I think its absolutely ridiculous that in order to teach English you need to be in front of all your colleagues, just your tutor and class is fair enough. But really? It just seems way over the top a sort of typical Oxford Cambridge thing. Not even UK teacher trainers are expected to have all their colleagues scrutinising their every move while teaching.

      Hi Joe thanks for your comment! Honestly it’s stressful at first but it becomes second nature! I think it taught me a lot about being self confident!
      I wouldn’t let that put you off, if you really want to teach you should go for it! Everyone is on a learning curve on that course :)

      I would love the idea of being able to teach in Thailand and move around to Rome or anywhere. I haven't PGCE but I know I would struggle with having anxiety of being in social situations and self conscious about correct grammar etc and not just not gonna put myself through that. All the best with your career!

    Great Video!! It was very useful considering I'll be taking the course in a few months... I just have a question...since it was formerly known as certificate of English language teaching for adults... are the classes focused on adult students? Do you get to teach adults in the teaching practice or children/teenagers?

    So my aunt saw the course online last week. I never really researched much or at all even. I just applied and I recently received my acceptance. My course begins next week. From all the information I’ve found, It’s apparently going to be very intensive. I’m dyslexic and my spellings are a bit messy. Other than that I’m not worried. But the constant use of the word “intensive” is something I find daunting. I haven’t left myself any prep time, as such. Just this week!😰
    So I wanted to ask, what was it like to cope with the workload and actually be happy with what you’re putting out during submissions?
    Also, thank you for sharing your experience.

I would like to ask you how much time you had to dedicate to extra reading to complete the tasks and in general, because I have a tight schedule, I deliver private lessons so I don't know how much time I am going to have for that.

      How did it go for you? Everyone keeps saying it’s super intense but I wish there were more specifics about what aspects felt intense and why. I’m that annoying person who felt college was easy and so I am hoping I will at least be able to sleep 8 hours a night and exercise regularly during my CELTA.

    • @poppyinitaly4508
      @poppyinitaly4508  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Honestly, university/college was less intense... I would say because the problem with CELTA is the time constraints.
      I barely had time to sleep and I was in lectures or teaching all day so the assignments took up all my spare time!
      It's a lot but it's only a short amount of time, I'm sure you can do it! Plus working out will help with the stress etc.
      Good luck!
