What Is Limited Atonement? - Honest Calvinist Conference

  • Recently, in an alternate universe, on Earth 1689... Calvinist thought leaders from all across the world met together at the first annual Honest Calvinist Conference. There, they spoke of Calvinism as it is, raw and unfiltered. Men like John MacArthur of ‪@gracetoyou‬ James White of ‪@AominOrg‬ Steven Lawson of ‪@ligonier‬ Josh Buice of ‪@G3Ministries‬ Paul Washer of ‪@Heartcrymissionary‬ Voddie Baucham of ‪@gfbc1689‬ and many others gathered together for the first time, to reveal what Calvinism REALLY believes about the Sovereignty of God.
    #parody #calvinism #Atonement #satire
    🚨 Yes, we used AI and some editing to provide this humorous critique of the Doctrines of Grace. HOWEVER, the statements made during the intro sequence, prior to Josh Buice speaking are 100% real clips taken from the actual speaker. These actual statements are used to ground our subsequent critique. AI is only used once Josh Buice comes on screen and from then on it's satire driven entirely by AI.

      Why is the term "new covenant" not found in the man-made confessions of "Reformed" Covenant Theology? The term is found in the Bible multiple times.
      New Covenant Whole Gospel:
      Who is now the King of Israel in John 1:49? Is the King of Israel now the Head of the Church, and are we His Body? Why did God allow the Romans to destroy the Old Covenant temple and the Old Covenant city, about 40 years after His Son fulfilled the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 in blood at Calvary?
      What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word. Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below.
      Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him.
      He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth.
      Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
      Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD:
      Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
      Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
      Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8, 3:16? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?
      Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.
      Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36)
      We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24.
      1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
      1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
      1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
      The following verses prove the Holy Spirit is the master teacher for those now in the New Covenant.
      Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
      Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
      Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
      Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
      1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
      1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

    When you boil it down, they do not believe in Jesus for salvation, they believe in election for salvation. A dear friend and brother in the Lord a number of years ago was honest with me and expressed a concern about not being elect. He worried that might be a self-deceived false convert. I was saddened by his honest feelings, as well as confused because of the “P” in his theology. I had more assurance of my salvation because it rested on my faith in Jesus than he did.

    Calvinists say the ones who aren't elect were created for the purpose of hell, but Jesus said something different about hell-
    'Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: (Matthew 25:41, KJV) Interesting he didn't say prepared for the un-elect, he specifically said it was prepared for the devil and his angels, because He never wanted humans to go there. Any human going there is a result of their own choices and unbelief in Jesus.

    There is no passage that says that Jesus died to pay for sin. There is a specific Greek word that can be translated as "for," indicating an exchange or a replacement, and it is the word "anti." An example of this is when Jesus said, "You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for [anti] an eye and a tooth for [anti] a tooth.'" Both of the words translated as "for" in this verse are the Greek word "anti." It's literally, "an eye in place of an eye," or "an eye instead of an eye," or "an eye against an eye." However, the word "anti" is never used even once in any statement regarding the fact that "Christ died for us." The word "for" in all of the statements of "Christ died for us" or "Christ died for our sin," are the Greek words "dia" (meaning through), "hyper" (meaning over), and "peri" (meaning around). Not once in the Greek text is there a direct substitutionary statement used about Jesus literally taking our place as an exchange or a payment. Nevertheless, translators (for unknown reasons) seem to have preferred to use the much more ambiguous word "for," which enables the teacher and reader to assume things about the text that were never intended.”
    Atonement is about reconciliation between persons, not between humans and a cold bureaucrat who needs to get his books adjusted before he can stamp "Forgiven" on a person's case. That is what the book "Atonement and Reconciliation" shows is the case throughout the Bible, except where Reformed people have twisted the text to get it to fit their narrative. Each biased text is examined and refuted.

      I've heard from an expert that one should never base a doctrine on a preposition, as they can be very fluid in their meaning and use, both in English and ancient Greek. It's like basing a doctrine on just one verse (Tozer did not recommend that), or on a Psalm (not their purpose). But your knowledge seems much deeper than mine on this topic, so I will have to ponder it some more.
      But I do have a question regarding the 'paying' for our sin. Who then pays it? The Model Prayer indicates we have a 'debt' (if that word is translated as debt correctly...some translate it as 'trespasses'). And Paul writes that sin has wages, or a cost -- 'the wages of sin is death.' This also seems to indicate a debt, or something owed, our death. Was Jesus' death on the cross the payment of that debt, his death in place of mine? Maybe verses like these have led translators to make the choices they have, though I'm no expert by any stretch. I do not read ancient Greek nor Hebrew, so I do not know. Just some thoughts that came to my mind when I read your post. Very thought-provoking, thank you!

    • @atonementandreconciliation3749
      @atonementandreconciliation3749 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Myrdden71 “The wages of sin is death" must be read in context. Romans 6:22-23 "But NOW that you have been SET FREE FROM SIN and have become slaves of God, the FRUIT you get LEADS to sanctification and ITS END, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
      When read together, the consequence ("the fruit") of being "set free from sin" is eternal life, and the wages, the consequence of sin, is death. These two results are being contrasted. The phrase "the wages of sin is death" is not a transactional statement of how to pay for sin. Wages are a metaphor for consequences, not a method of payment. Nevertheless, this one phrase is a keystone of the Penal Substitutionary Atonement doctrine, as if it is intended to state that the event of Jesus' death was the means of how the sins of humanity were paid. This proof-texting of a phrase to use as a basis for defending the PSA theory is a sad display of sloppy scholarship.

      @@atonementandreconciliation3749 So then, did Jesus not have to die? Athanasias puts his Incarnation and death as the answer to his 'divine dilemna.' The price for sin had to be paid or God was a liar to Adam and Even. But it would be unbecoming of God to allow his creation, made in his image, to die and cease to exist. So the creator, Jesus, had to become a part of his creation in order to remake it, and so he had to die, on the cross specifically, to take that punishment of death. But death, taking a sinless man, broke the rules, so-to-speak, and Jesus gained power over death, taking away Satan's most powerful weapon. But if that isn't true, then did Jesus have to die? I guess this is all deeper than I realized at first. More to ponder. Thanks again for your reply! God bless!

    did you ever see that John Wesley wrote:
    Calvinists, who deny that salvation can ever be lost, reason on the subject in a marvelous way
    They tell us, that...
    • no virgin's lamp can go out; [Matt. 25:1-13]
    • no promising harvest be choked with thorns; [Mk. 4:18-19]
    • no branch in Christ can ever be cut off from unfruitfulness; [Jn. 15:1-6]
    • no pardon can ever be forfeited, [Num. 14:34, Isa. 63:8-10]
    • and no name blotted out of God's book! [Rev. 3:5]
    They insist that...
    • no salt can ever lose its savor; [Matt. 5:13]
    • nobody can ever "receive the grace of God in vain"; [2 Cor. 6:1, Gal. 2:21, 5:4]
    • "bury his talents"; [Matt. 25:24-30]
    • "neglect such great salvation"; [Heb. 2:3]
    • trifle away "a day of grace"; [2 Cor. 6:2, Heb. 3:7-15]
    • "look back" after putting his hand to the gospel plow. [Lk. 9:62]
    • Nobody can "grieve the Spirit" till He is "quenched," and strives no more, nor "deny the Lord that bought them"; nor "bring upon themselves swift destruction." [1 Thess. 5:19, Gen. 6:3, 2 Pet. 2:1]
    • Nobody, or body of believers, can ever get so lukewarm that Jesus will spew them out of His mouth. [Rev. 3:16]
    They use reams of paper to argue that...
    • if one ever got lost he was never found. John 17:12;
    • that if one falls, he never stood. Rom. 11:16-22 and Heb. 6:4-6;
    • if one was ever "cast forth," he was never in, and "if one ever withered," he was never green. John 15:1-6;
    • and that "if any man draws back," it proves that he never had anything to draw back from. Heb. 10:38,39;
    • that if one ever "falls away into spiritual darkness," he was never enlightened. Heb. 6:4-6;
    • that if you "again get entangled in the pollutions of the world," it shows that you never escaped. 2 Pet. 2:20;
    • that if you "put salvation away" you never had it to put away, and if you make shipwreck of faith, there was no ship of faith there!! [1 Tim. 1:19]
    In short they say: If you get it, you can't lose it; and if you lose it you never had it.
    May God save us from accepting a doctrine, that must be defended by such fallacious reasoning!
    I add col 1:23 that someone can be moved away from the hope of the gospel....

    💢God does not chose some to heaven and some to hell. The calvinistic teaching of Limited Atonement is absolute heresy. If one single verse of Scripture remotely contradicts an opinion, doctrine, teaching, or ideology, then they are wrong and Scripture is true.
    1 John 2:2 flat out says that Christ atoned for the sins of the whole world, John 3:16 says God so loved the world. Scripture also states 2 Peter 3:9 God is not willing that any should perish - however if He appoints some to damnation then He is willing that some would perish, and God then is a liar.
    The words World, All, Whosoever, Any..... in the the actual meaning of those words in the Scriptures according to the Greek and Hebrew are general all inclusives, not limited specifics. You actually have to monkey with the Word of God and change the meanings of the actual words of Scripture to make Unconditional Election and Limited Atonement of Calvinism work
    You will not find 1 single verse that says anything about Christ not being the atonement for all the world.
    And here's just a few verses that directly contradict the false ideology of Limited Atonement -
    💢1 John 2:2) "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."
    💢Hebrews 2:9) "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man."
    💢John 3:16) "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
    💢2 Corinthians 5:14-15) "For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again."
    💢Acts 17:30) "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:"
    💢Isaiah 53:6) "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."
    💢2 Peter 3:9) "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
    💢John 1:29) "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
    💢Titus 2:11) "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,"
    💢1 John 4:14) "And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world."
    💢1 Timothy 4:10) "For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe."
    💢1 Timothy 2:4) "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth."
    💢John 6:51) "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."

      @@ManassehJonesGotta love gnostic, esoteric heresy. Where only you individually and your sect are the ones in the whole truth and hold a monopoly over truth while everyone else are in falsehoods. No, he's reading Scripture in its context and not reading Calvinist bs into the text like your "prophets" John Calvin, RC Sproul, John MacArthur, etc do.
      Ironic that Calvinists claim to believe in salvation through grace by faith alone when faith alone is not in the Bible explicitly. Faith Alone is taught against St. James the Apostle, relative of Jesus in James 2. I'd rather believe him over modern heretics any day.

      The word for "world" in the original Greek in 1 John 2:2 and John 3:16 for example is "kosmos". It means the world, universe, inhabitants of the world, the human race; people. It doesn't suggest only a certain group of people whether it's denomination, ethnicity, race, gender, color anything like that.

      " even as *He chose* us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. *In love He predestined us* for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will... " - Ephesians 1:4-5
      Notice how the Word of God prioritizes the will of God and not that of man? Also, notice how those who are saved are "predestined" before the foundation of the earth?

    O HORRIBLE DECREE Worthy of whence it came! Forgive their hellish blasphemy Who charge it on the Lamb: Whose pity him inclin’d To leave his throne above, The friend, and Saviour of mankind, The God of grace, and love..... To limit thee they dare, Blaspheme thee to thy face, Deny their fellow-worms a share In thy redeeming grace: All for their own they take, Thy righteousness engross, Of none effect to most they make The merits of thy cross.... They think with shrieks and cries To please the Lord of hosts, And offer thee, in sacrifice Millions of slaughter’d ghosts: With new-born babes they fill The dire infernal shade, “For such,” they say, “was thy great will, Before the world was made.”.... O take me at my word, But arm me with thy power, Then call me forth to suffer, Lord, To meet the fiery hour: In death will I proclaim That all may hear thy call, And clap my hands amidst the flame, And shout,-HE DIED FOR ALL.

    It's fascinating how much time Calvinists spend studying something they say we have no choice in, no control over, no part in - salvation. Is it like a humble-brag to keep talking about it instead of talking about things like loving one's neighbor, helping the needy, evangelism, humbling one's self, etc.? It's like the Calvinist Bible only talks about soteriology, how God saved them and them alone, and hates everyone else. Maybe they talk about it so much to try and continually convince themselves that it is actually true in the face of so much scripture that affirms otherwise?

    Charles Simeon’s (Calvinist) conversation with John Wesley (Arminian)
    It is instructive in this connection to ponder Charles Simeon’s account of his conversation with John Wesley on December 10, 1784 (the date is given in Wesley’s journal):
    Charles Simeon: “Sir, I understand that you are called an Arminian; and I have been sometimes called a Calvinist; and therefore I suppose we are to draw daggers. But before I consent to begin the combat, with your permission I will ask you a few questions.… Pray, Sir, do you feel yourself a depraved creature, so depraved that you would never have thought of turning to God, if God had not first put it into your heart?”
    John Wesley: “Yes,” says the veteran, “I do indeed.”
    Charles Simeon: “And do you utterly despair of recommending yourself to God by anything you can do; and look for salvation solely through the blood and righteousness of Christ?”
    John Wesley: “Yes, solely through Christ.”
    Charles Simeon: “But, Sir, supposing you were at first saved by Christ, are you not somehow or other to save yourself afterwards by your own works?”
    John Wesley: “No, I must be saved by Christ from first to last.”
    Charles Simeon: “Allowing, then, that you were first turned by the grace of God, are you not in some way or other to keep yourself by your own power?”
    John Wesley: “No.”
    Charles Simeon: “What, then, are you to be upheld every hour and every moment by God, as much as an infant in its mother’s arms?”
    John Wesley: “Yes, altogether.”
    Charles Simeon: “And is all your hope in the grace and mercy of God to preserve you unto his heavenly kingdom?”
    John Wesley: “Yes, I have no hope but in him.”
    Charles Simeon: “Then, Sir, with your leave I will put up my dagger again; for this is all my Calvinism; this is my election, my justification by faith, my final perseverance: it is in substance all that I hold, and as I hold it; and therefore, if you please, instead of searching out terms and phrases to be a ground of contention between us, we will cordially unite in those things wherein we agree.

    • @MariusVanWoerden
      @MariusVanWoerden 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Neither Calvin or Beza held to Limited Atonement. It first came up at the Synode of Dordrecht in 1618-19. The L in T.U.L.P. Stands for “Limited Atonement” is a Mistranslation from Dutch, Which is the linguist It was translated from, to English. The 5 articles were a response on the 5 articles of the remonstrant written in 1610 by the Arminian Uittenbogaard . He wrote the 5 articles, that the synod of Dordrecht 1618 - 1619 opposed to. There were 62 Dutch delegates, and 27 foreign delegates representing eight countries.
      The word which Uittenbogaard used means: “Particular Atonement” and Christ Died particularly for every person of the whole world. Which is borderline to universal redemption. The Synod upheld the Sufficiency of the dead Of Christ for the whole World and if it was for 1000 worlds, but opposed the idea of Particular redemption for every person ever born. At the time that this controversy on the Synod of Dodrecht Calvin had already Died in 1564, and had nothing to do with it and neither did Beza.
      The true meaning of limited atonement is stated in these articles that were written and put together by the delegates of the Synod to explain the Atonement Of Christ.
      2-3. This death of the Son of God is the only and perfect sacrifice and satisfaction for sins; of infinite power and dignity, abundantly sufficient to atone for the sins of the whole world.
      2-4. And this death is therefore of such great power and dignity, because the person who suffered it is not only a truly and utterly Holy Man, but also the only begotten Son of God, of one eternal and infinite being with the Father and the Holy Spirit, such as our Savior must be. Moreover, because his death has been attended with the sense of the wrath of God and of the curse which we have deserved by our sins.
      2-5. Furthermore, the promise of the gospel is, that whosoever believeth on Christ crucified shall not perish, but have eternal life; which promise to all nations and men, to whom God, according to his good pleasure, sends his gospel, must be proclaimed and presented indiscriminately, with a commandment of repentance and faith.
      2-6. But that many, being called by the gospel, repent not, neither believe in Christ, but perish in unbelief, this is not for want or insufficiency of the sacrifice of Christ offered on the cross, but through their own unbelief.
      COMMENTARIES OF JOHN CALVIN ON THE BIBLE.
      “He makes this favor common to all, because it is propounded to all, and not because it is in reality extended to all; for though Christ suffered for the sins of the whole world, and is offered through God’s benignity indiscriminately to all, yet all do not receive him.” [Calvin’s Commentary on Romans 5:18]
      Nevertheless, forasmuch as it is not in us to discern between the righteous and the sinners that go to destruction, but that Jesus Christ has suffered His death and passion as well for them as for us, therefore it behoves us to labour to bring every man to salvation, that the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ may be available to them ...” [Sermon CXVI on the Book of Job (31:29-32)]
      “The word many is not put definitely for a fixed number, but for a large number; for he contrasts himself with all others. And in this sense it is used in Romans 5:15, where Paul does not speak of any part of men, but embraces the whole human race.” [Calvin’s Commentary on Matthew 20:28]
      “For he intended expressly to state [in John 3:16] that, though we appear to have been born to death, undoubted deliverance is offered to us by the faith of Christ; and, therefore, that we ought not to fear death, which otherwise hangs over us. And he has employed the universal term whosoever, both to invite all indiscriminately to partake of life, and to cut off every excuse from unbelievers. Such is also the import of the term World, which he formerly used; for though nothing will be found in the world that is worthy of the favour of God, YET HE SHOWS HIMSELF TO BE RECONCILED TO THE WHOLE WORLD, when he invites all men without exception to faith in Christ, which is nothing else than an entrance into life.” (Calvin’s Commentary on the Gospel of John)

    In Jeremiah 7 God says, "People built places to sacrifice their children (in fire) to foreign gods, and He (God) says, "I did NOT COMMAND this, nor did it enter my mind." So, who do we believe, Jeff Durbin, RC Sproul, James White, John Piper or God Almighty and His Holy Word, the Bible? So, while God does predestine some things, this verse clearly says NOT everything. It's like a university predestining a football team (they WILL have a team next season) but giving free will to players themselves to decide whether or not to come out for that team. God, in His Sovereignty, has the POWER to give mankind a certain degree of free will to choose to follow or reject Him and His Christ. This free will, given to man by God, started in the garden when God said to Adam and Eve, "You can eat from any tree in the garden except the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil." God did NOT say, "You MUST eat from all of the trees except the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil," rather He gave them a choice to eat from whatever trees they chose, except that one specific tree. And by the way, they CHOSE to disobey and eat from the very tree God said not to.
    These are just a few of the MANY verses that speak of people making a choice; where Calvinism says, there is "No choosing" God decides. Isaiah 56:4 says, "For this is what the Lord says: “To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who CHOOSE what pleases me..." Isaiah 65:12 says, "...I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and CHOSE what displeases me.” Isaiah 7:15 says, "...He will be eating curds and honey when he knows enough to reject the wrong and CHOOSE the right..." Proverbs 3:31 says, "... Envy thou not the oppressor, and CHOOSE none of his ways." 1 Chronicles 21:11 says, "So Gad went to David and said to him, “This is what the Lord says: ‘Take your CHOICE: three years of famine, three months of being swept away before your enemies, with their swords overtaking you, or three days of the sword of the Lord..."

      It depends on the Calvinist. Many of those who were raised in Calvinism and don't know any better constantly agonize over whether or not they're "elect". Most of the ones who've studied in-depth and choose to double down on the obvious madness rather than leaving for a saner doctrine and those who've converted to Calvinism as adults are extreme narcissists, so their own egos tell them they are "elect" and their egos can't POSSIBLY be wrong!

    Calvinism, I have become convinced, is the worship of imagination. It is based on an imagined past (before the world began). When an imagined God, imagined the current world, and decided that what He imagined would come to pass exactly as He had imagined it, in infinitesimal detail. Including every thought, feeling, and action which He had seen each and every living thing would ever experience, in the material world He was going to create, precisely as He had imagined.

    (Why bother creating such a material world at all? We can only imagine, precisely as He imagined we would, before the material world began ; )

Let alone the vast majority wide road!? Why would He pour out wrath on anyone if Jesus took all the wrath?

    Those who criticize limited atonement can't even tell us what atonement is. They are still working on their theories after two thousand years. What scriptural evidence is there for contingent or provisional atonement?

      Limited Atonement is predicated upon the Reformed view of election and Anselmian Atonement Theory. Engage with the hours upon hours of content we've put out on the Redemptive Work of Christ.

    I know where the limited atonement may have come from. And it is my ache. So, it may have come from a believer living with unbelieving relatives and being unable to covert them no matter what, instead ruining his own spiritual life by trying.
    But, on the other hand, it is obvious that the idea of limited atonement could have been the precursor for fascism.

    The *purpose* of election: "We [elect] are preparing now to rule and reign with Him in the coming ages (Eph. 2:7, 2 Tim. 2:12, Rev. 20:6), to govern five or ten cities (Luke 19:17,19), to sit on thrones governing the tribes of Israel (Matt. 19:28; Luke 22:30), even to rule over all He has (Luke 12:43-44). Our Lord is preparing leaders for that time ... we [elect] are the firstfruits [2 Thess. 2:13, Jam. 1:18, Rev. 14:4-5] -- the priests and kings who will judge the world and intercede for the ungodly (lost) in this age and the ages to come. ... God does not merely settle for the firstfruits. They are but a pledge for the whole." -- Gerry Beauchemin, _Hope Beyond Hell,_ chapter 5, "Purpose of Election" section

    I find it very interesting that the visual part of the video doesn't match the audio. Did you do that on purpose or are you trying to be deceptive or what? If you're going to quote what people actually say and play videos of them talking at least match them. And if you're not going to do that but only appeared to be doing that make that fact known to your viewers so that those who can read lips aren't even more confused. Unless you are perpetuating confusion.

    A third way:
    Consider these three propositions:
    (1) God wants to save everybody.
    (2) God ultimately gets what he wants.
    (3) Some people won't be saved.
    All three propositions have many scriptures which, at least at first glance, support them. However, everyone agrees that, logically, at least one of these propositions must be false.
    Calvinists reject (1) because they believe in limited atonement.
    Arminians reject (2) because they believe that humanity's free will is absolute.
    Believers in eventual universal salvation such as myself reject (3) because of
    (a) scriptures such as John 12:32, 17:2, Romans 5:18-19, 8:19-21, 11:32,36a, *1 Cor. 15:22,28* , Col. 1:20, Rev. 5:13, 22:17c, Psalm 65:2-3, 145:10a, Isaiah 45:22-25, Lam. 3:22,31 and very many others,
    (b) "eternal" is a mistranslation of _aionios._
    (c) many other reasons.
    Rejecting (1) is theologically very problematic.
    Rejecting (2) is theologically problematic.
    Rejecting (3) has the fewest theological problems.
    Gerry Beauchemin's _Hope Beyond Hell_ gives about 100 scriptural arguments for rejecting (3), and explains the true and beautiful purpose of election.

    1 Timothy 4 : 10 CHRIST IS THE SAVIOR of all men ,specially those who believe.
    CHRIST atoned for every creature in the whole world. Atonement doesn't equal salvation. The atoned for must apply faith in THE ATONER CHRIST JESUS to receive the blessings of salvation that HE has offered to every creature in the whole world.

      OK Manny, so because the word we is within the text it means the text doesn't mean exactly what it says . You've just displayed what is so very wrong about having unscriptural paradigmatic presups my friend. Manny , as I've told you before, I do appreciate your zeal for GOD , but you're simply cramming your presups into the texts trying to make them say something other than what they actually say literally and in context. The context of and the literal writ is the worst enemy your paradigmatic claims have against them . The things you say over n over n over simply are in biblical scripture. They're in the outside of biblical teachings you're a victim of and I truly hate that you've been misled as you have Manny. In love and patience, I urge you to take off your lenses and just start over with just the biblical texts of scripture and try to realize what they actually say .
