Wonderful a verse from RDF! The Lord said to her, "Two NATIONS are in your womb, and two PEOPLES from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will SERVE the younger" Romans 9 is primarily about NATIONS not individuals and about SERVICE not about salvation!
@@travissharon1536 Limited atonement is a doctrine of demons - never the less Romans 9:23,24 speak of God being merciful to individuals - to those who are "called". Romans 9:23-24 And He did so in order that He might make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, even us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles. Not all are called. Only those who are "called" are justified and glorified Rom 8:30
The sooner you lay hold of salvation by sovereign grace, the sooner you will find peace and rest for your soul. And all the more you will be closer to the ONE who died specifically for you.
This is not so, it brings you to despair for all those who according to this false doctrine are reprobate. Thankfully it is not the Gospel but come from whispers of the serpent who tries to make us doubt the Goodness of the Father.
Amen. Once we believe it we are saved forever. Romans 11:29 For the GIFTS and calling of God are without repentance, Irrevocable, cannot be changed back. Once you become a child of God you are a child of God forever. Hebrews 13:5 He will never leave us or forsake us. He will never cast us out. John 6:37. John 1:12
I think this will Kill the arugment, and any confusion... 1 Jhon 2:2 "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world" God bless you all...
You won’t convince people with a confirmation bias, because they are only looking for verses that confirm their views and dismiss or explain away the ones that don’t.
The interesting thing is all the verses that seem to indicate Christ died and rose again triumphant against sin and death for all mean that all the time no matter if you look deeper into culture or language like Greek or Hebrew. But verses that seem to discuss death, torment, hell, eternal wrath all can be debatable whether you’re translating the words right and all the old bibles had noted in the columns showing these discrepancies.
If you read what John also wrote previously, you see a parallel here explaining the world means the elect are the scattered across the world. John 11:51-52 ESV He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. Simply compare that verse to the one you quoted: 1 John 2:2 ESV He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
You don’t need to know who are the elect in order to preach the Gospel, which must be preached to both the predestined and the un-predestned. When the Gospel falls on predestined ears, it saves lives; but when it falls on un-predestined ears, it proves God’s judgment blameless! “For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life.” (2 Corinthians 2:15-16)
ShieldsofFaith, I will tell you who are in God's grace and predestined to be saved, and I will tell you also who are those predestined to be damned in hell... Those who are predestined to be saved are the sons of God since the beginning of the Creation, and those predestined to be damned in hell are the sons of the devil... EXAMPLE of the sons of the devil can be found in John 8:44 and EXAMPLE of the sons of God can be found in Psalm 82:6, and Galatians 4:6....
@@reynaldodavid2913Jo Is there any chance you could be wrong about the soteriological meaning of the passages with the word predestined in then? I only ask because I believe scripture doesn't contradict, or need us to reinterpret clear statements like the world, and all.
@@travissharon1536 , Which passages do you mean? Election and Predestination in the bible means a person is elected and predestined to be saved even before he is born.. The Arminian and the Provisionist believe that election and and ptedestination happens when you are already in Christ and you are elected only for service, but that is election for service only not for salvation.. And they also believe that election is only by a group of people such as the nation of Israel but they are wrong about that too... Israel was chosen NOT for Savation but to teach the whole world about the one true God. The true God is one and alone NOT three persons, Within Israel are two kinds of people the elect and the reprobates, The apostles and other disciples of Jesus are the elect within Israel and are predestined to be saved... The reprobates within Israel is Judas who betrayed Jesus, the high priest who manipulated the crucifiction and death of Jesus and some pharisees to whom Jesus said, you are of your father the devil in John 8:44... These people are predestined to hell even before they are born...
@@reynaldodavid2913Jo I'm referring to the passages that say the word predestined, or the ephisians verse about before the foundations of the earth. I've been deceived by doctrines of demons before, more than once. God has helped me onto the narrow path. Calvinism denies the idea that God is a literate communicator in the name of sovereignty. Again, could you be wrong about those very few verses that total depravity, and therefore all of TULIP are based on? You say the majority of Christians, scholars, and layman are wrong. The doctrine of grace never enters the minds of millions who read their Bibles, it comes straight from the poor deceived mind of Augustine. Again, I've been possessed by demonic ideas myself, I just want to help you.
@@reynaldodavid2913Jo Also, and this may be the most important part. The church authorities, modern Scribes and Pharisees love their traditions. I don't associate with any ism or ist. Universalism obviously isn't true, so it doesn't mean that everyone is saved. Only the those who believe and follow Christ are saved, and those who believe and follow Christ are the elect. "Limited atonement" probably isn't the best choice of words, it's only meant to convey the fact that most people ultimately reject salvation and isn't this ugly "Christ's sacrifice wasn't good enough to pay for everyone's sins" strawman that all you anti-predestination people love to throw around.
@@fakesummer3942 wow you need to do a lot more reading of scripture you've got absolutely no idea of what you're talking about. I mean who are you to disparage the blood and mercy of Christ. The absence of mercy does not quantify the absence of love. Universalism is the only gospel that gives the full glory to God.. Arminianism(the application theory) and Calvinism (that limited love theory) are both exclusive (based on ignorance and pride) and nothing short of heresy... They make no biblical sense whatsoever... Even though our human love is limited, you have the audacity to say that Gods is too, be careful my friend that is just blasphemy.
The atonement is "sufficient for all", but only "efficient for some". He only lays his life down for his sheep. Otherwise Hell wouldn't exist. If I could lose my salvation, I would lose it. Without Christ, I'm going to Hell.

Only in the very vivid imagination of MacArthur is "limited atonement" true! Jesus died "for whosever that believes in him" "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come! And let him that hears say, Come. Rom 9:29 "...who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father ..." 1 Peter 1:2 Please don't confuse His knowing who will get saved, with FORCING folks to get saved! We are ALL invited to trust Christ for salvation, and the only reason why anyone goes to hell is because they REJECT Jesus! "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever REJECTS the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." John 3:36
clearly a bunch of people here who don't understand scripture, nor have they studied - not surprised considering the poor teaching in churches these days - MacArthur is spot on.
John MacArthur is preaching a false gospel. He is sending people to hell believing they were chosen by God to be saved, so they never do the will of God. John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that all that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. We have millions of unsaved people in our churches who have never done the will of God. They believe they are saved because they go to church, give money, and keep Gods laws as best the can. But, they have never accepted His free gift of salvation by grace. Matthew 7:15-20 tells us how to tell false teachers. Wolves in sheep's clothing. They always add works to grace. They do not preach salvation by grace but by works. The say they believe salvation by grace, but turn right around and add works. Romans 4:5 But to the one that worketh not, but believe on Him who justieth the ungodly, (all of us) his faith is counted for righteousness. We are justified by faith in Christ and His finished work on the cross where He suffered and died to take the punishment we all deserve so that we could be saved though Him who loved us. Justification is by faith alone without works. It is a free gift of God by just believing the gospel. That Jesus died for all our sins. He paid our sin debt in full so that we do not have to go to hell to pay for them. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. When we believe the gospel we are saved forever and ever and ever. These men call God a liar. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me HATH EVERLASTING LIFE. Not because we were chosen,, but because we believe that Jesus is who He said He is and that we are saved by what He did, not by what we do or do not do. Our works. We can not save ourselves by what we do. Salvation is done, not do. All we have to do is receiver the free gift by faith, and we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 1:13 and 4:30 Once we believer the gospel we are saved and have eternal life. We are predestined to be raised at the resurrection. John preaches a lot of truth but with error. He believes we are saved by what we do instead of what Jesus did for us and gives us as a free gift. He believes people get saved but turning from sin to God. That is a good thing to do but it does not save us. We can only be saved by what Jesus has done for us plus nothing. Jesus paid I all and we paid 0. It is free. We did nothing for it. Do not listen to these false teachers that are preaching another gospel. Calvinism, Arminianism, and Lordship salvation may sound good, but they are not the gospel and save no one.
@@jimkraft9445 Eph.2:1 clearly states that all Israelites were dead in trespasses and sins. So, tell us, how do the dead make choices? Further, Yahshua Himself said he had not come but for the lost sheep of the house or offspring/progeny of Jacob/Israel, the man, that is the White race. Together those two points give us limited atonement by grace alone. The works come after election, not before, because we are the elect, not to become the elect. Btw, the Israeltes were not the jews. The jews descend from Esau, not Jacob.

Alexander W., [[ Limited (definite) Atonement is the only true christian doctrine, but for the most people hard to swallow because of men's PRIDE. ]]>your post 1st, Aside from Limited Atonement, there many Christians doctrine that are biblically true. Example: There is only One God..... 2nd, Limited Atonement is true if it is biblical, but Calvin's Limited Atonement is not biblical......
If you take the exact opposite of what you’re saying then you might be closer to the truth. Only the most prideful people believe they are chosen while those around them are not.
Alexander W, since you believed in limited atonement, please back-up with some bible verses on my comments below. The simple and literal reading of John 12:32 Christ's propitiation is extended to all men, indiscriminately and without distinction. Furthermore, if Jesus draws (John 12:32) all men “without distinction,” then He must have died for all men, without distinction. Otherwise, exactly what would He be drawing them to? WHY would Jesus say He was going to “draw ALL MEN” if it weren’t His intent to save “ALL MEN”? Certainly man are only save by grace through faith in Christ. (Ephesians 2:8). Thank you.
“Next to the reading of Scripture, I teach all of my students that the best thing they can do is read Calvin’s commentaries on the Bible.” James Arminius I think it is sad, how quick some people can call others who have been used by God a heretic, I would be very careful speaking out against a man so strongly who has been used so mightily by God, and teaches sound doctrine. John Macarthur is not some Benny Hinn. You might disagree, but it is only your ignorance and arrogance, that would cause you to write a comment about a man of God like John Macarthur.
We have to call them what they are. Calvinism, Arminianism, and Lordship salvation are all false gospels made up by men who never new the truth. Wolves in sheep's clothing. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted , after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; (First Corinthians 15:1-4) in whom also AFTER ye believed, ye were sealed by that Holy Spirit of promise. We were not regenerated by the Holy Spirit until we believed the gospel. Not before. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace ye are saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the GIFT of God, not of works, lest any many should boast. It is by faith, not works. So faith can not be a work. Faith is what we believe. We are saved by what we believe not by what we do. Romans 4:2 If Abraham were justified by works, he would have something to glory in, but not before God. We can justify our selves before men by works, but not before God. We are justified by faith in a risen savior. Not by what we do. No one can save themselves.
Calvinism, Arminianism, and Lordship salvation are not the bible way of salvation. Those are doctrines made up by men. We do not get the Holy Spirit until we believe the gospel, not before. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel (First Corinthians 15:1-4) of your salvation; in whom also AFTER ye believed ye were sealed by that Holy Spirit of promise. No one ever got saved by making Jesus Lord of their life. We can only be save by what Jesus did for us on the cross and receive it as a free gift of God. Ephesians 2:8-9 and Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, (and we all sin), but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. We can only receive the gift of salvation by grace. It is all grace. Romans 11:6 Romans 4:5. We can not add one thing to what Jesus has already done. AMAZING GRACE, JESUS PAID IT ALL AND WE PAID 0. IT IS FREE.
We are not saved by being decent people but by believing the gospel. We are all sinners saved by grace. MacArthur believes we are chosen by God to be saved, and the only way you know if you are saved or not is if you persevere in the faith. The Bible says we are saved by what Jesus did for us on the cross and wants all men to be saved. First Timothy 2:4. First John 2:2 Jesus died for our sins, and not our only, but for the sins of the whole world. John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me, will come to me, and all that cometh to me I will in no wise cast our. Any one can be saved. No where in the bible does it teach limited atonement. Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Then He mixes discipleship with salvation by grace and makes salvation something we do instead of what Jesus has done for us. Calvinism Arminianism, and Lordship salvation are all doctrines of men and demons, and are not the bible. He believes contrary to what the bible says, that we have to make Jesus Lord of our life to be saved. He takes scripture out of context to make salvation by works instead of grace which he claims to preach. Salvation is a free gift of God to everyone that believes the gospel, First Corinthians 15:1-4 That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that He was buried and rose again on the third day according to the scriptures. Galatians 1:7-9 If we preach any other gospel than that gospel we will be accursed. There is only one gospel that saves sinners, and to tell people they were not chosen so can't be saved is keeping people out of heaven instead of bringing them in. Satan has lots of ways to keep people from believing the true gospel as a free gift that we only have to believe to be saved and are sealed by the Holy Spirit and are given eternal life. Ephesians 1:13 and 4:30. Romans 11:6 Salvation is all grace, not works. Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on HIm who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousenss. As beleivers we are to contend for the faith and not let false teachers who come in sheep's clothing preach a false gospel of works salvation. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, and we all sin, but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath eternal life. MacArthur peaches salvation by works instead of grace. That we can save our selves by how we live an what we do. The same lies the Arminians believe. Both in effect are preaching another gospel which saves no one. They do not say so but they believe salvation is a process instead of and instantaneous moment in time when we believe the Gospel and are sealed by the Holy Spirit forever. He preaches that Arminians are not saved, but neither are Calvinist's. The bible does tell us we have eternal security, but not the same as Calvinism. If you are basing your salvation on the fact you were chosen by God to be saved, you may not be saved because you are basing your salvation on something other than what Jesus did for us on the cross when HE said, "IT IS FINISHED" That is an accounting term which means paid in full. Romans 4:6-8 He imputes His righteousness to us , and will not more impute sin to our account. There is only one gospel that saves sinners, and it is a free gift from God by faith alone. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace ye are saved, through faith, and that not of your selves, (we did nothing for it) it is the GIFT of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. We only have to believe the gospel to be saved forever. We do not persevere in the faith to stay saved, we are saved. The perseverance of the saints is for those saved during the tribulation that will have to persevere and not take the mark of the beast to be saved. MacArthur says we can take the mark and be saved. He also does not believe in the blood atonement for all sin. He is not a bible believer. First John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know ye have eternal life. John 1:12
Second Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless, the foundation of God is sure, having this seal, (the Holy Spirit) the Lord knoweth them that are His, and let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from inequity. Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone that saith unto me Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those that have done the will of my Father. John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that all that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have eternal life, and I will raise Him up on the last day. Salvation is a free GIFT of God by faith alone without works. Romans 11:6 If MacArthur would preach the gospel that our sins are paid in full and we are going to heaven because of What Jesus has done for us, and not by what we do, our works, then He would be at the top of the list of bible preachers. But he preaches a false gospel of works salvation. The same heresy the Catholic church preaches. John 3:16 refutes all false gospels. For God so loved the world, (everybody) that HE gave His only begotten Son, (Jesus) that WHOSOWEVER, (anybody) BELIEVETH in Him, should not perish, but HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. Making Jesus Lord of your life saves no one. Repenting of sin saves no one. Giving up your bad habits and changing your life does not save you. Inviting Jesus into your heart does not save you. There is only one way of salvation, period. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ plus nothing to be saved. It is not Jesus plus our works, or Jesus plus anything. It is Jesus plus nothing. Few there be that find it.
No one willing takes hold of anything they are hostile towards. It doesn't happen in the physical or spiritual realm. Only after God has sovereignly overcome our hostility does the believer see the cross not as folly & an instrument of death and see it as the beauty it really is. That is why v13 is there to explain how these hostilities are overcome & conversion happened. How can natural man who considers God an enemy overcome his hostility/hatred towards God by his own will? It is not possible.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

(Matthew 7:13-14, ESV) 21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' 23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.' (Matthew 7:21-23, ESV)
I totally agreed with you John MacArthur. I profoundly believe in the doctorine of limited atonement. I came Not to be ministered onto, but to be ministered and give my life a ransom for "many", said Jesus.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace ye are saved, through faith, and that not of your selves, it is the GIFT of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Eternal life is the Gift when we believe it. Faith is not the gift. The Gospel. First Corinthians 15:1-4 That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that He was buried, and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures. When we believe He paid our sin debt in full, we are given the seal of the Holy Spirit and eternal life. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of you salvation; in who also AFTER ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise. BORN OF GOD, BORN AGAIN. Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit in whom ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. We do not persevere in the faith to stay saved. We are saved and have eternal life now. John 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. And my Father who is greater than all, no one can pluck them out of His hand. Double eternal security based on what Jesus did for us, not by what we do or do not do. Our works. Romans 11:6 it is all grace, what Jesus did for us when we believe it. Faith is not a work. Romans 4:5 But to Him that worketh not, but believeth on Him who justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. We have to believe to be saved. Once we believe we are saved for ever. First John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know ye have eternal life. But we have to believe it to receive the free gift of salvation by grace.
No, they do not. First John 2:2. And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. First Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. We do not persevere in the faith to stay saved. We are saved when we believe the gospel. First Corinthians 15:3-4 We are given eternal life when we believe Jesus blood sacrifice covers us from all sin and gives us eternal life. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also AFTER ye believed, ye were sealed by that Holy Spirit of promise. Born again, born of God. We were not given the Holy Spirit until we believe the gospel. Not before like the Calvinist's believe. Calvinist's do not believe that Christ died for every one that believes. Romans 1:16 IT is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, Limited atonement is a false gospel, and most who believe it are trusting that they are chosen instead of what Jesus did for us on the cross plus nothing. When we believe we are chosen, but not before we believe. We are chosen IN HIM, before the foundation of the world. When we believe. We are not chosen to believe, but when we believe we are chosen. Calvinist's believe if you are not living right or lose your faith, you were never saved. Second Timothy 2:13 If we believe not, He abideth faithful, He can not deny Himself. His Holy Spirit that lives in the believer. If we were saved by how we live and what we do, our works, then Jesus died in vain. We are saved by what He did plus nothing. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace ye are saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Faith is not a work. The gift is not faith, but eternal life when we believe. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. When we believe it. The gift is eternal life, not faith. Faith cometh from hearing, hearing by the word of God. Calvinism, Arminianism, and Lordshiip salvation are all doctrines of men and not the bible. Let no man deceive you. Matthew 7:15-23 Those that trust in their works are not saved. Only those who have done the will of His Father. John 6:40
Jeff A, since you profoundly believe in the doctrine of limited atonement, would you care to give me an expositions to my comments below. Thank you
@@jimkraft9445 if you believe faith comes from yourself then answer me this: Why Is it that you believe and another does not, when you both heard and read the word of God? Is it because you are more righteous than the person who abides in unbelief? Is it because you are more intelligent? What makes you so special? It appears only good works would lead you to the choice of having faith on your own if you state it’s not from God.
"I think he has a spirit of antagonism ..." I think you have an evil spirit. It's a wicked spirit of Calvinism. A teaching that doesn't make any sense and mocks the intelligence of mankind.
It is not only John MacArthur you slander, more dangerously you slander God's chosen shepherd over a body of believers. It is you, sir, who has the evil spirit. You need to repent.
To Mr. "Futurenotfixed", you might want to consider the Prophet's words..... Isaiah 46:10 I am God and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, 'My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.' .....as well as the Apostle's words 1 Corinthians 2: 14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
LIMITED ATONEMENT is heretic gospel. Its a different or another gospel that is not from God, a dangerous gospel. Apostle Paul said... Galatians 1:8-9 (NASB20) "But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! As we have said before, even now I say again: if anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!"
Matthew 7: 13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, AND THERE ARE FEW WHO FIND IT. Romans 5:18 Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous. The L in T.U.L.P. Stands for “Limited Atonement” it is a Mistranslation from Dutch to English. Dutch after first being translated from Latin, is the original linguist in which the 5 articles of the Contra Remonstrant were written. It was a response on the 5 articles of the remonstrant written in 1610 by the Arminian Uittenbogaard . He wrote the 5 articles that the synod of Dordrecht 1618 - 1619 opposed to. There were 62 Dutch delegates, and 27 foreign delegates representing eight countries. The word which Uittenbogaard used means: “Particular Atonement” and Christ Died particularly for every person of the whole world. Which is borderline to universal redemption. The Synod upheld the Sufficiency of the dead Of Christ for the whole World and if it was for 1000 worlds, but opposed the idea of Particular redemption for every person ever born. At the time that this controversy on the Synod of Dodrecht Calvin had already Died in 1564, and had nothing to do with it. The true meaning of limited atonement is stated in these articles that were written and put together by the delegates of the Synod to explain the Atonement Of Christ. 2-3. This death of the Son of God is the only and perfect sacrifice and satisfaction for sins; of infinite power and dignity, abundantly sufficient to atone for the sins of the whole world. 2-4. And this death is therefore of such great power and dignity, because the person who suffered it is not only a truly and utterly Holy Man, but also the only begotten Son of God, of one eternal and infinite being with the Father and the Holy Spirit, such as our Savior must be. Moreover, because his death has been attended with the sense of the wrath of God and of the curse which we have deserved by our sins. 2-5. Furthermore, the promise of the gospel is, that whosoever believeth on Christ crucified shall not perish, but have eternal life; which promise to all nations and men, to whom God, according to his good pleasure, sends his gospel, must be proclaimed and presented indiscriminately, with a commandment of repentance and faith. 2-6. But that many, being called by the gospel, repent not, neither believe in Christ, but perish in unbelief, this is not for want or insufficiency of the sacrifice of Christ offered on the cross, but through their own unbelief. COMMENTARIES OF JOHN CALVIN ON THE BIBLE. “He makes this favor common to all, because it is propounded to all, and not because it is in reality extended to all; for though Christ suffered for the sins of the whole world, and is offered through God’s benignity indiscriminately to all, yet all do not receive him.” [Calvin’s Commentary on Romans 5:18] Nevertheless, forasmuch as it is not in us to discern between the righteous and the sinners that go to destruction, but that Jesus Christ has suffered His death and passion as well for them as for us, therefore it behoves us to labour to bring every man to salvation, that the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ may be available to them ...” [Sermon CXVI on the Book of Job (31:29-32)] “The word many is not put definitely for a fixed number, but for a large number; for he contrasts himself with all others. And in this sense it is used in Romans 5:15, where Paul does not speak of any part of men, but embraces the whole human race.” [Calvin’s Commentary on Matthew 20:28] “For he intended expressly to state [in John 3:16] that, though we appear to have been born to death, undoubted deliverance is offered to us by the faith of Christ; and, therefore, that we ought not to fear death, which otherwise hangs over us. And he has employed the universal term whosoever, both to invite all indiscriminately to partake of life, and to cut off every excuse from unbelievers. Such is also the import of the term World, which he formerly used; for though nothing will be found in the world that is worthy of the favour of God, YET HE SHOWS HIMSELF TO BE RECONCILED TO THE WHOLE WORLD, when he invites all men without exception to faith in Christ, which is nothing else than an entrance into life.” (Calvin’s Commentary on the Gospel of John)
Along w/ Luther, Anselm, Gottschalk, Tetullian, Cyprian, Athanasius, etc??? They were also in the minority...on the narrow path. They went against the majority and were more concerned w/ being true to not only the easy parts of scripture, but the hard parts than they were of popular opinion.
Limited Atonement as presented by 5 pt Calvinists is wrong. Christ died for all men. In the gospels, we read of Jesus speaking about an “unpardonable sin” This means that there is a sin which people commit that cannot be forgiven. It is also known as “blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.” Since this sin is unpardonable it is instructive to know what blasphemy is. blas·phe·my ˈblas-fə-mē 1a: the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God When it comes to blasphemes against the Holy Spirit - we should ask ourselves - was Jesus saying this was a new sin that unregenerate men had never committing before? The people of Israel who left Egypt in the Exodus were accused of insulting of blaspheming God. Indeed, not only did they build a golden calf, they claimed that it was the god which brought them out of Egypt. Scripture says. Even when they had made for themselves a golden calf and said, ‘This is your God who brought you up out of Egypt, and had committed great blasphemies’ (Nehemiah 9:18 ESV). These acts by the people were considered insults or blasphemies against God. In the Old Testament, we find that cursing or insulting God was an extremely serious offense. Those who openly defied the Lord were to be cut off from the people. Scripture says. But anyone who sins defiantly, whether native-born or foreigner, blasphemes the LORD and must be cut off from their people. Because they have despised the LORD’s word and broken his commands, they must surely be cut off; their guilt remains on them (Numbers 15:30-31). Notice this includes native-born Israelites as well as foreigners. Anyone who blasphemes the Lord was to be cut off from the people. In another place, we read that those who cursed the Lord were worthy of the death penalty. Moses wrote. And speak to the people of Israel, saying, Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin. Whoever blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him. The sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death (Leviticus 24:15-16 ESV). Jesus further responded to this sin in the gospels: Every sin or blasphemy can be forgiven-except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which can never be forgiven. Anyone who blasphemes against me, the Son of Man, can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come (Matthew 12:31, 32). Mark records Jesus’ words in this manner: Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin-for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit” (Mark 3:28-30 ESV). The blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, in this context, was the public attributing of the work of the Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ, to satan. The Holy Spirit testified of Jesus’ identity as the promised Messiah. Refusal to acknowledge this testimony of the work of God was blaspheming the Holy Spirit. In another context, Luke records the following words of Jesus re "blasphemes against the Holy Spirit": And I say to you, everyone who confesses Me before men, the Son of Man shall confess him also before the angels of God; but he who denies Me before men shall be denied before the angels of God. And everyone who will speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him. And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not become anxious about how or what you should speak in your defense, or what you should say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say (Luke 12:8-12 NASB). In this context, Jesus used the term “blasphemes against the Holy Spirit” to describe those who would deny the testimony of the Holy Spirit that Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ. Within the same context Jesus says that the Spirit will be with His disciples as they testify about Him before men. The Apostles preached His message with His authority. Those who heard the message of Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit, but publicly and defiantly rejected it, were guilty of committing “blasphemy against the Holy Spirit”. No forgiveness was possible for them as long as they did this. A few examples from the 'New Testament': In Acts 7:51, Stephen says to the Pharisees, "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always RESIST the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.” Acts 13:45,46 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were BLASPHEMING. 46And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. Acts 18:5,6 But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ. But when they RESISTED and BLASPHEMED, he shook out his garments and said to them, “Your blood is on your own heads! The Apostle Paul says: "since you repudiate it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life" "Your blood is on your own heads!" If they were "unworthy of eternal life" it's because they were blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is a sin that only the unsaved carry with them to the grave - and it's unforgivable. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Hebrew 10:28 Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant BY WHICH HE WAS SANCTIFIED, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? Here we see another example of blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Insulting the Spirit of grace - the consequence is the same - no eternal life. ***************************** John 16:7-9 But I tell you the truth, it is for your benefit that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate [Holy Spirit] will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. 8And when He comes, He will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: 9in regard to sin, because they do not believe in Me; "because they do not believe in Me" The believer today not only has Christ living in them (Gal 2:20) but the indwelling Holy Spirit (Gal 4:6). When we speak forth God's Word - the Holy Spirit uses it to convict the world. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is denying the Spirit’s testimony concerning Jesus. Today that would include anyone who considers the message of cross foolishness. It is God's mercy (Rom 9:15) and grace (Eph 2:8) that anyone comes to faith. God takes the initiative - opens blind eyes - and that according to predestination/election. That was the case for the Apostle Paul - and is the same for every believer today. 1 Tim 1:13 even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. And yet I was shown MERCY, because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; 1 Tim 1:14 and our Lord’s GRACE was abundant, bringing faith and love in Christ Jesus.

as a former calvanist, after intense studying on Romans 9,10,11 an so many OTHER scriptures,i had to leave that nightmare. i was Listening to John Piper a real hyper calvanist He said that GOD was responsible for Jesus Death and all the Sins.Wrong Mr Piper!! God knew that the only way to save mankind was to Die in our place.Jesus the god-man did just that.God used the evilness of certain men, that he knew could and would do that, but in no way was GOD responsible. He set the stage so to speak, set the time an allowed it to unfold. He put Judas an evil man and a thief who was out for himself, just like he raised Pharoah, but it was thier sins not GOD in any way. God must intervene in our history at times, in order for his overall will to be accomplished.which is to save as many as possible, and allowing the potential for SIN and Evil, but in no way does he ever author evil in any form.God created all things and scripture says it was GOOD!!
So how do i know if i am God's sheep or people or flock or whatever. I believe Christ as my savior and come to repentance.. So by this view in the video i might as well do watever i want because theres a possibilty god didnt choose me to be saved?
...and you having to reply twice to attempt to make a case demonstrates just how effective my exhortation is/has been at making you actually have to think. I am glad the truthfulness of scriptures is trying to speak to you, and I pray you may yet one day wake up out of the fog of your confusion.
Notice that the "free" in free will implies a will that is separate from God's will, ordination, control, or decrees. In the Oxford definition we see implication that free will is "free" from fate altogether. This suggest that God cannot hold your actions against you because you are free from his control and he therefore must respect your "free will" (and believe me, I have had people tell me exactly that in those exact words). There is a difference between man's will and free will.
Amen Brother Mark. Salvation that can be lost is salvation that must be maintained and earned. It therefore logically concludes that salvation is by works and not by the finished work of Jesus Christ alone and of sovereign grace.
That is the point! "Born not of flesh nor the will of man, but of God" does not settle well w/ those who believe man's will is the determining factor in salvation. No! As mentioned earlier, man's flesh which is self exalting above God will never accept the truths of Sovereign Grace w/out God intervening & is why free will is an acceptable belief not only among Arminians, but also the unconverted. Christ referred to the majority as the ones on the wide (most popular) road & most will find it.
What is your point? I don't consider acknowledging that man knows so little compared to an Omniscient God and that man has historically tried to conform God into his image instead of conforming his finite mind to God's infinite mind to be a foolish endeavor. Do you?
How do you define free will? If you define free will as being an ultimate self-determining creature then it would be a violation of Judas' free will. However the Bible doesn't claim that Man is ultimate in there self determination. No one asked to be here and no one decides when they leave, God is in control of our ultimate destination. Is this fair? Is it fair that snakes have no legs? is it fair that fish can't breathe out of water? Can finite creatures question God's plan?
Also, being born again, whether you believe in Reformed Theology or Arminianism, has nothing to do w/ the believer not doing anything wrong (sinning) after being born again. Paul discusses this in length in Romans...chapter 7 in particular.
"you proffer no scriptural argument in opposition to it." Everybody already has, on the other videos. By coming here and hitting the reset button doesn't validate your position. If your interpretation of verses is wrong, then what point is it for us to cite them to refute your interpretation? We're always and ONLY discussing interpretation. If you want to see whose interpretation is better, I suggest the Ante-Nicene one instead of your Augustinian/canons of Dort one.
John MacArthur is correct here. There is a general call of the which goes out to all men who hear it but some are effectually called unto salvation to the praise of God's glory.
Great speaking John and a verse that you can apply to this subject:"There is no one who calls on Your name, Who arouses himself to take hold of You; For You have hidden Your face from us And have delivered us into the power of our iniquities." King James Bible apply to this subject is Isaiah 64:7
If atonement is limited, that is to say, if certain individuals are denied it by God, then this would mean that God is denying the possibility of people being saved who desire to be saved, and also desire to abide by it. If God's intention is that all have the possibility of salvation through Christ, then why would He ever limit that intention? For what possible reason would God ever limit that intention? None. It is a contradiction which could never exist.
During Jesus ministry before His death, His work was mainly to the Jews, and not only was the message limited in its target-audience but several things which the Gospel-writers tell about, Jesus forbade to be spoken of at that time -- the Transfiguration, for instance. Afterwards, the situation was different, and Gentiles were allowed access into Christs community directly, without joining the Jewish nation first (though it took a while for the early Christians to catch on to this).
I'm really not misinterpreting at all. Matthew 7:13-14: "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it.
I completely agree that if God isn't at the helm of his creation and directing it in every way then what good would anyone's prayers be? Why even pray if God is limited by man's choices and if he has to learn and make adjustments to conform to the ever changing whims of his own creation. Jesus said "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" Luke 6:46
And if he didn't choose to save you and or your kids and your parents, would u still say Lord thank you for showing us your love in damning our whole family. Would u really think this way. Of course not. You only think that way because you think your saved. What a religious statement you made at best, and demonic at worst
@@gotech25 Where did i quote a Bible verse? I made a statement like you rightly noticed, and that statement happened to be ironic. Have a blessed and loving Sunday :)
God's words are life to me! God's word says what it means and means what it says. Calvinists must do as you do here to cast doubt on what God's word says, to reconfigure it so that it will fit your man-made philosophy!
No lying...just the truth. Christ is the one that acknowledged in John 10:29 that God the Father was the one that gave the sheep to him. The question one must ask of themselves is this, "Am I one of the sheep?" This verse is quite clear that if someone is part of the Good Shepherd's fold, it is b/c the Father gave them to him (no works of flesh or man). Furthermore the reason the unconverted don't believe according to v26 is b/c they are not part of the fold.
I don’t see how it diminishes the atonement to say Jesus died for everybody. I find this a shocking statement, to be honest. I’ve heard this ‘argument’ by Calvinists many times, but don’t find it biblical. The logic put forward is that if Jesus paid the penalty for everyone’s sins, then there would be no one in Hell. That’s not biblical, just human logic. We need the righteousness of God to be accepted by Him. The gospel is truly good news, in that sin has been paid for. For God thus loved the world… In this way did He demonstrated His love, by the Cross, for all to see. Now, whoever believes in Him, God’s only begotten Son and this message of forgiveness through the Cross, is justified by faith, saved, given eternal life, born again… Sin has been dealt with, remitted, so the only issue or requirement is whether a person repents and believes. This is the gospel, as presented in Scripture, the one which I received. It concerns me that many Calvinists talk about a ‘second conversion’ when they first heard the ‘doctrines of grace’. It has hints of another gospel, when they surmise that everything was decided or pre-determined to make them one of the elect. I respect JM and agree with him there is mystery, because we are mere humans. It’s a debate that will run until the End.
The doctrines of grace refer specifically to soteriology. They never are used to discuss the decree or permissive decree of all things. Determinism, Compatiblism, and libertarianism are a totally separate topic
And correct me if I am wrong. If someone does not have "true intimate knowledge of God (your words)" then they are not truly born again or converted. If someone doesn't have true knowledge then it means they had false knowledge which implies they never were with us.
"NO one (an outsider) can snatch a believer from His hand. It never said the believer can not choose to reject Him for personal reasons" You are right nor does it say you can lose your salvation. However, it does plainly says that noone (that included outsiders & insiders & everone in between) can snatch them out of His hands. No even a "free will" believing person can snatch themselves from God's hands provided they are converted. Brother, find peace and rest in that absolute truth from God.
"For for this cause was the gospel preached ALSO to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.". Clearly it says that the Gospel was preached to the dead. This so that none are without excuse.
"Limited Atonement" The lie of calvinism that must hurt the heart of our Saviour the most! "As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge Him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it" John 12:47........What a Savior!
The way I view limited atonement is from the perspective of it only being limited to "whoever believes". If Christ died for everyone, then we wouldn't even have to have faith or repent, it would cover us regardless. But the verse is very clear saying "whoever believes in Him, will not perish but have everlasting life". Believing in Christ is NOT work, I don't know how many people have taken this to that extent. Although I predominantly listen to Calvinist preachers, I believe many of them have taken what the Bible defines as "works" out of context.
It doesn't matter what two Christians you put in a room, if they discuss theology long enough they are going to disagree on a number of things. Having said that, I don't know enough of Jeremy and SOF's theological stances to answer the question accurately. But I do know that we agree on the doctrines of grace which teach that salvation is by grace alone (which means apart from nothing by man)
The definition of narcissism can't be changed just in order to support a person's personal beliefs or point of view. As a matter a fact, I am not sure what narcissism has to do w/ the topic at hand. It would be like me saying the sky is blue....therefore that proves my point of view and means I am right.
And what theological position is less shallow...more difficult? 1) Try salvation out for a while & if you happen to not like it you can return it. But hey, if you die b/f you return it, you will get to make it into heaven anyway. What a deal! OR 2) Saying if you desire to return your salvation it is proof that you never really had it in the first place. Which one is consistent w/ passages like Matt 7:14 B/C strait is the gate, and narrow the way which leads unto life & few will find it ?
"Jack, the devil is spamming all ur comments becuz cuts his servants to the heart.Let the true light shine!" A Calvinist's main weapon is evasion - mostly by dead silence & spamming.. What else do they have except a few fallacious arguments & some twisted prooftexts that have all been refuted for centuries? Usually someone who has to dodge & weave, make false accusations, & try to hide what they actually believe, will eventually come to their senses, but not Calvinists - they only get worse!
Are you asking if I care about the world or if I care about my fellow man? Because I do not care about a world that is slated for destruction and is corupt from top to bottom. I do care about my fellow man, and I make my best effort to love them as i would myself. Having said that, I also believe Jesus in the first part of his teaching and "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might". The shema is central to what I believe.
Do many Calvinist or Arminians know Luther's position on predestination? It seems to not be discussed very much. Luther taught single-predestination. Lutherans would sign off wholeheartedly on Total Depravity and Unconditional Election, yet Lutherans reject Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, and Preservation of the Saints. Lutherans then agree with the last three points of Arminianism. It's very much a paradoxical position to hold.
1 Timothy 4:10: "For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of ALL people, ESPECIALLY of those who believe." I'm really not sure how you can conclude that Christ only died for some. This verse alone disproves limited atonement
I don't want to escape this fact! All you have to do is read the next verse, but I don't find many calvinists that care what the precious word of God says, they care about what their guru (White, Sproul, Piper) says ABOUT the verse! "For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the MANY (not all) will be made righteous" Rom 5:19 Stay in the Word, how can you disagree with a person that tells you that?
"You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me," - John 5:39 A contradiction is by definition "not truth". Limited Atonement is a contrived biblical interpretation in which can be easily refuted, whereas God's love and desire for every person to be saved is a direct and unmistakable statement in the bible.
The reason why there will never be a fruitful discussion between the two views, is that we differ in our view of the sheep and the goats. My view says that goats can become sheep (and such were some of you). If a manager of a football team said: " I would do everything for my players", would that not include everyone in that team. What about the new player bought after the manager made the statement? As long as we differ on this and the issue of free will there will never be an actual dialogue
“While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light." These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and hid Himself from them. But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him. This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: "LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED?" For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, "HE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HE HARDENED THEIR HEART, SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND PERCEIVE WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED AND I HEAL THEM." These things Isaiah said because he saw His glory, and he spoke of Him.” John 12:36-41
"having been ran through your hate filter " One doesn't need a 'hate filter' to hate Calvinism. The Bible says the fear of God is to hate SIN. Are you saying we should not view sin through a 'hate filter'? Actually, Calvinism IS a hate filter. Thanks for the insight!
If it's all just a matter of my exhortation being simple and easily discarded, then why do you even spend energy typing a response at all? In Christ I encourage you to embrace the truth of what God is saying to you SE through the rightful and impactful message he speaks through people like myself.
You nailed it. Rusty holds he was saved 2000 years ago. If he was always one of the elect, then he was never a child of wrath. However, we know that everyone who is now a REAL follower of Jesus was at one time a child of wrath. Rusty's theology satisfies his questions, but then, Rusty is not very hungry for truth and is satisfied with a few cliches. Then he defends that because it makes him believe that he is 'defending the faith', even when it leaves him without joy or peace or assurance.
No one said John 2:19 is about election. It's about those who profess to be Believers as the word "Children" (born again) in v18 indicates. It would also help in understanding this passage if one knew that 1 John was written as a result of many in the local church (probably in Ephesus) were being led astray by Gnosticism. V19 "they went out"....meaning they at one time professed to be followers of Christ and attended the local church...followed by "they went out b/c they never were w/ us."
"The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation of EVERYONE who believes" Rom 1:16 "...Just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for ALL men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for ALL men" Rom5:18 "The Spirit and the Bride say, Come! And let him who hears say, Come! Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life" Rev 22:17
No Mark "has either seen or known" Doesnt mean u "never knew" God. It means u had a superfical understanding of the true God. Seen = heoraken = to perceive or see w/the mind, discern. Known = egnoken/ginosko - come to know- personal, experiential, intimately [also used when Mary said she had not "known/ginosko" a man - sexual intimacy] It doesnt mean that they "never converted", it meant they didnt have true intimate knowledge of God. This is why sound doctrine is so Important to feed the sheep
You did not answer the question JohnMac.. The question is: How can you tell the people that God loves them but Jesus did not die for them? Your answer was: you are commanded to preach the goapel to all the creature... If I were you, I will just preach: you must believe in Jesus and you shall be saved without telling them that God loves you. If some will ask me, Does God loves me? You will answer of course God loves all His creation..

But verses that seem to discuss death, torment, hell, eternal wrath all can be debatable whether you’re translating the words right and all the old bibles had noted in the columns showing these discrepancies.

Don't confuse God sovereignly choosing a man or woman to DO something, with Him forcing folks to be saved! God certainly KNOWS who will accept/receive Him. I'ts actually settled history to Him! "For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son...." Rom 9:29
"...who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father ..." 1 Peter 1:2
Please don't confuse His knowing who will get saved, with FORCING folks to get saved! We are ALL invited to trust Christ for salvation, and the only reason why anyone goes to hell is because they REJECT Jesus! "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever REJECTS the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." John 3:36
clearly a bunch of people here who don't understand scripture, nor have they studied
- not surprised considering the poor teaching in churches these days - MacArthur is spot on.
Ephesians 1:13 and 4:30
Once we believer the gospel we are saved and have eternal life.
You don't tell us what this true gospel is nor in what church it resides. Totally unhelpful.

Thank you.
God made a boat of salvation in Christ that’s big enough to save everyone, but it’s human responsibility to respond.

“Next to the reading of Scripture, I teach all of my students that the best thing they can do is read Calvin’s commentaries on the Bible.” James Arminius
I think it is sad, how quick some people can call others who have been used by God a heretic, I would be very careful speaking out against a man so strongly who has been used so mightily by God, and teaches sound doctrine.
If you are basing your salvation on the fact you were chosen by God to be saved, you may not be saved because you are basing your salvation on something other than what Jesus did for us on the cross when HE said, "IT IS FINISHED"
That is an accounting term which means paid in full.
Few there be that find it.
kraft jim, thanks. So edifying.

Calvinist's do not believe that Christ died for every one that believes. Romans 1:16 IT is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth,
Limited atonement is a false gospel, and most who believe it are trusting that they are chosen instead of what Jesus did for us on the cross plus nothing.

“He makes this favor common to all, because it is propounded to all, and not because it is in reality extended to all; for though Christ suffered for the sins of the whole world, and is offered through God’s benignity indiscriminately to all, yet all do not receive him.” [Calvin’s Commentary on Romans 5:18]
Nevertheless, forasmuch as it is not in us to discern between the righteous and the sinners that go to destruction, but that Jesus Christ has suffered His death and passion as well for them as for us, therefore it behoves us to labour to bring every man to salvation, that the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ may be available to them ...” [Sermon CXVI on the Book of Job (31:29-32)]
“The word many is not put definitely for a fixed number, but for a large number; for he contrasts himself with all others. And in this sense it is used in Romans 5:15, where Paul does not speak of any part of men, but embraces the whole human race.” [Calvin’s Commentary on Matthew 20:28]
“For he intended expressly to state [in John 3:16] that, though we appear to have been born to death, undoubted deliverance is offered to us by the faith of Christ; and, therefore, that we ought not to fear death, which otherwise hangs over us.
I think Athanasius believed in universal reconciliation and Luther saw no reason why salvation wouldn't be available after we died.
Limited Atonement as presented by 5 pt Calvinists is wrong. Christ died for all men.
In the gospels, we read of Jesus speaking about an “unpardonable sin” This means that there is a sin which people commit that cannot be forgiven. It is also known as “blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.” Since this sin is unpardonable it is instructive to know what blasphemy is.
blas·phe·my
ˈblas-fə-mē
1a: the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God
When it comes to blasphemes against the Holy Spirit - we should ask ourselves - was Jesus saying this was a new sin that unregenerate men had never committing before?
Jesus further responded to this sin in the gospels:
Every sin or blasphemy can be forgiven-except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which can never be forgiven. Anyone who blasphemes against me, the Son of Man, can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come (Matthew 12:31, 32).
Mark records Jesus’ words in this manner:
Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin-for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit” (Mark 3:28-30 ESV).
In another context, Luke records the following words of Jesus re "blasphemes against the Holy Spirit":
And I say to you, everyone who confesses Me before men, the Son of Man shall confess him also before the angels of God; but he who denies Me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
A few examples from the 'New Testament':
In Acts 7:51, Stephen says to the Pharisees, "You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always RESIST the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.”
Acts 13:45,46
But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were BLASPHEMING. 46And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; since you repudiate it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.
Acts 18:5,6
But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ. But when they RESISTED and BLASPHEMED, he shook out his garments and said to them, “Your blood is on your own heads!
The Apostle Paul says:
"since you repudiate it, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life"
"Your blood is on your own heads!"
If they were "unworthy of eternal life" it's because they were blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is a sin that only the unsaved carry with them to the grave - and it's unforgivable.
John 3:18
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Hebrew 10:28
Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

John 16:7-9
But I tell you the truth, it is for your benefit that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate [Holy Spirit] will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. 8And when He comes, He will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: 9in regard to sin, because they do not believe in Me;
"because they do not believe in Me"
The believer today not only has Christ living in them (Gal 2:20) but the indwelling Holy Spirit (Gal 4:6).
1 Tim 1:13
even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. And yet I was shown MERCY, because I acted ignorantly in unbelief;

and our Lord’s GRACE was abundant, bringing faith and love in Christ Jesus.
Sadly, this man is biblically incorrect on his teaching of limited atonement.
I think you posted your comment before watching. He said a lot. What bible verse was he incorrect about? He backed up everything he said with scripture

It's astonishing that anyone could believe anything John says when he negates so much scripture it's just not reasonable.

You just said Jesus died for everyone, limited atonement teaches that He did not die for everyone, only those predestined to be saved.
Poor theologian!
Jesus died for the elect only
"This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants ALL men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all men" 1 Tim 2:3-5

Limited atonement is limited love. You can't say "for God so LOVED the world" and then say Christ only died for the "elect".
Also, being born again, whether you believe in Reformed Theology or Arminianism, has nothing to do w/ the believer not doing anything wrong (sinning) after being born again. Paul discusses this in length in Romans...chapter 7 in particular.
"you proffer no scriptural argument in opposition to it."
Everybody already has, on the other videos.
Great speaking John and a verse that you can apply to this subject:"There is no one who calls on Your name, Who arouses himself to take hold of You; For You have hidden Your face from us And have delivered us into the power of our iniquities."
King James Bible apply to this subject is Isaiah 64:7
I must admit that this is all good.God know's best.
I'm really not misinterpreting at all.
Matthew 7:13-14:
"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it.
how does the doctrines of grace explain Titus 2:11?
I completely agree that if God isn't at the helm of his creation and directing it in every way then what good would anyone's prayers be?
Why even pray if God is limited by man's choices and if he has to learn and make adjustments to conform to the ever changing whims of his own creation.
Jesus said "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" Luke 6:46
Yes, God loves everyone. He loves equally those who He determined to save and those who He determined not to save
And if he didn't choose to save you and or your kids and your parents, would u still say Lord thank you for showing us your love in damning our whole family. Would u really think this way. Of course not. You only think that way because you think your saved. What a religious statement you made at best, and demonic at worst
@@gotech25 There's another option: an ironic statement :)

The question one must ask of themselves is this, "Am I one of the sheep?"
This verse is quite clear that if someone is part of the Good Shepherd's fold, it is b/c the Father gave them to him (no works of flesh or man). Furthermore the reason the unconverted don't believe according to v26 is b/c they are not part of the fold.
...and would you like the scriptures that speak to the fact that only a few are chosen?
The one who receives Him, is he in the flesh or in the Spirit?
And correct me if I am wrong. If someone does not have "true intimate knowledge of God (your words)" then they are not truly born again or converted.
If someone doesn't have true knowledge then it means they had false knowledge which implies they never were with us.
"NO one (an outsider) can snatch a believer from His hand. It never said the believer can not choose to reject Him for personal reasons"
You are right nor does it say you can lose your salvation.
It's pretty simple and look, all of the scriptures work together and there is no need to excerpt sentences to build a dedication.
"Limited Atonement"
The lie of calvinism that must hurt the heart of our Saviour the most!
But I do know that we agree on the doctrines of grace which teach that salvation is by grace alone (which means apart from nothing by man)
As you wrote this post Greg were you standing in the Temple looking to the heavens while a publican was kneeling nearby?
The definition of narcissism can't be changed just in order to support a person's personal beliefs or point of view. As a matter a fact, I am not sure what narcissism has to do w/ the topic at hand. It would be like me saying the sky is blue....therefore that proves my point of view and means I am right.
And what theological position is less shallow...more difficult?
1) Try salvation out for a while & if you happen to not like it you can return it. But hey, if you die b/f you return it, you will get to make it into heaven anyway. What a deal!
OR
2) Saying if you desire to return your salvation it is proof that you never really had it in the first place.
Which one is consistent w/ passages like Matt 7:14 B/C strait is the gate, and narrow the way which leads unto life & few will find it ?
"Jack, the devil is spamming all ur comments becuz cuts his servants to the heart.Let the true light shine!"
A Calvinist's main weapon is evasion - mostly by dead silence & spamming..
"For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the MANY (not all) will be made righteous" Rom 5:19
Stay in the Word, how can you disagree with a person that tells you that?
"You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me," - John 5:39
A contradiction is by definition "not truth".
He who is OF GOD HEARS God's word John 8 :47
“While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light." These things Jesus spoke, and He went away and hid Himself from them. But though He had performed so many signs before them, yet they were not believing in Him. This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: "LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT? AND TO WHOM HAS THE ARM OF THE LORD BEEN REVEALED?" For this reason they could not believe, for Isaiah said again, "HE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HE HARDENED THEIR HEART, SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND PERCEIVE WITH THEIR HEART, AND BE CONVERTED AND I HEAL THEM." These things Isaiah said because he saw His glory, and he spoke of Him.”
John 12:36-41
"having been ran through your hate filter "
One doesn't need a 'hate filter' to hate Calvinism.
The Bible says the fear of God is to hate SIN. Are you saying we should not view sin through a 'hate filter'? Actually, Calvinism IS a hate filter. Thanks for the insight!
I would say that description fits those who trust in their "free will" rather than seeking God's will and choosing to follow that instead.
Which does not negate the covenant of grace because sinful man does refuse and no one has said otherwise.
"The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation of EVERYONE who believes" Rom 1:16
"...Just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for ALL men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for ALL men" Rom5:18
"The Spirit and the Bride say, Come! And let him who hears say, Come! Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life" Rev 22:17
Because the issue is not free will but the atonement's effectiveness.
No Mark "has either seen or known" Doesnt mean u "never knew" God. It means u had a superfical understanding of the true God. Seen = heoraken = to perceive or see w/the mind, discern. Known = egnoken/ginosko - come to know- personal, experiential, intimately [also used when Mary said she had not "known/ginosko" a man - sexual intimacy]
It doesnt mean that they "never converted", it meant they didnt have true intimate knowledge of God.
As a follow up question:
Was Jacob a really good guy?
ShieldsofFaith, Let me also asked you, are you really a good guy? Nobody is good in God's sight and that is why He had to send His Son.
Please listen to Johns comments at 2:30 thru 2:35 and decide for yourself as to his understanding of the Gospel.
Paul predicted their behavior,"There will be a time when people[calvinists] won't tolerate sound teaching. Instead, following their own desires, they'll accumulate teachers for themselves, having an insatiable curiosity to hear new things. They'll turn away from hearing truth & will turn aside to myths"
Exactly. And the amazing thing is they follow a guy like MacArthur who even admits in this video he can't reconcile the scriptures with Calvinism - he says it's all a big mystery to him - insane!
