Make sure to pass it on to your children, but if you either don't have one (or more) or they obviously don't care about it (sell it or throw it away after you're gone) then pass it onto someone who you know would care for it as much as you do!

Here are some examples from the thousands of discussions I've read online or heard in real life. Some museums will take items but put them in storage due to lack of display place, and then eventually sell them off (not even priced right) after 5-10 years, and that's the most common for bigger/better ones. Heard of several people who donated their dad's/granddad's uniform/medals/helmet/etc. to a museum, just to see them sold after never having been on display, and the museum didn't even try to tell the original donators. Other, often smaller museums don't take care of their items well enough (simply because they can't afford to), and in these days it's not too uncommon that the museum runs out of business meaning they also have to get rid of everything. Once again, if it's valuable it can get quite desirable to be stolen, especially if it's a small museum (seen that a lot over the last 5 years actually, f*cking c*nt's breaking in at night stealing thousands of dollars/euros worth because small museums can't afford proper security measurements and the thieves know that). And what surprises me the most is that surprisingly often, the people working at museums (in this case the bigger ones) they actually don't care too much about specific items. I went to the national museum of a European country, and saw a German WWII GM-44 gas mask (the one made for scope use, quite rare) on a f*cking French WWI display. I told the reception on the way out but they couldn't care less, then sent an email saying they will "look into it" and two years later when I visited nothing had been done. Would never want my nicest pieces in my collection to end up in such places.

Har et par orinale selv funnet i Skibotn og en frontkjemper venn av meg som hadde et privat gårdsmuseum hadde et par tyske ski med samme lysegrønne stripen fra binningen til tupp (bare hannes hadde stålkanter under)

Yes - this is a great hobby! Gun laws in Norway is pretty strict, and if you would walk around close to larger modernized cities like this arround "modern" people you would be in trouble.. people have even called police on people carrying umbrellas, big cameras or lenses... and a few weeks back; multiple people called the police on a man they believed to attempting to hijack cars with a handgun, but it was just some poor guy trying to flag down cars on a highway holding a sausage in a bun that he was eating apparently. But if you go a little further outside the citys and especially into the deep forrest nobody could care less, and even the local police would probably jokingly ask you if you are out hunting 😅 hunting is a big part of Norwegian culture, and I believe that Norway has (or at some point had) the most registered guns compared to its population than any other country in the world - but don't quote me on that 😅 but laws are getting stricter and stricter.
In England we have extremely strict laws, even to buy a replica weapon you have to be registered as a film company, a recognized 're-enactment ' group or some government body. Rather uncommon actually - would estimate probably less than around 100 reenactors nationwide
