Those maps aren't just big, they're huge! OST is my fav tactical system. It's in the Goldie Locks zone, not too complex and difficult for new players, not too simplistic and light for the experienced players, it's just right! The pocket battles maps are really great when you don't want to wrestle with those giant maps. FYI, they had an omission of anti tank rifle units for the soviets, I think three are missing from this second edition version.
Hi Robert! No WONDER I couldn’t find them. I must have looked for 20 minutes last night; you need one in scenario 1. The game is at a solid but playable level. Between this and Awakening the Bear, I might finally sell off my 1st edition Squad Leader that I bought from the hand of John Hill himself. I’m just not that much of a rivet counter anymore. Anyway, I’m diving into it and liking it so far. Thanks for writing, and have a Merry Christmas! - Paul
Nice unboxing video! TBH, as an over all package I think the Original Vol:1 is a lot better. 2nd edition really let down by Dark map and missing counters and errata. Also I like the original for showing the graphics of the counters for set up as well as the officers names in the scenario book. The 2nd Edition does not have that. I think its a step backwards for 2nd Edition this one just went wrong!
Hello DM! While I didn’t have the 1st edition to refer to, Im guessing that Flying Pig did not get the map they signed off on. There is a downside to using non-US based publishers, and I think they were surprised by what they got. A real shame because they clearly care about the graphics presentation of their games. - Paul
@@theoakenknight1748 Hi OK, Unfortunately for the backers, Flying Pig got exactly the map they signed off on! They signed off this Dark Night Oily Map! on July 19th 2022, Check out the Kickstarter updates! for July 19th 2022 the Dark map is there. They knew, signed it off anyway and went ahead.....why?.....money & time.
Hello Mr Burning! I gotta say that it was hard to believe that the same publisher that did such a great job with the A Most Fearful Sacrifice printing somehow let this slip by. Maybe the draft for approval was okay, but still…. Part of the price that is paid for having the printing done half a world away. Thanks for commenting…. - Paul
After pledging for Vol 4 I pulled the game out intending to play the scenarios through Vol 3 before Vol 4 arrived. My map is so dark I can’t read the hex numbers. Gave up on it. Hoping Vol 4 will be playable.

That dark board looks pretty terrible.
