    SubZero refrigerators and freezers that are older, can be repaired, and are worth repairing, but SubZero and too many technicians will tell you that they can't get parts for it, it's not worth repairing, or can't be repaired, and that's simply not true at all!
    SubZero refrigerators and freezers that are older, have very few operational parts in them, which makes them even more repairable, and cheaper to repair, than the newer ones that are outrageously expensive to buy, and will not last anywhere as long as the older one you have now!
    Customers have been told lies for too many years by SubZero and a lot of technicians that tell you to go out and buy a New SubZero refrigerator, for $10,000 to $18,000, when your unit can be repaired for a tenth or less than a new one, under $2,000, and make it last another 15 to 20 years!
    Part of the beginning of this video is education about the reasons that SubZero and technicians tell you to buy a new one, which is wrong information they are telling you, that you need to be aware of, to make an informed decision. Part of the video is also about the lies that have been told by SubZero and other manufacturers, about "sludging" of freon that will occur, if you convert a unit from R-12 to R-134a, which has been a lie that keeps being told to new technicians, generation after generation, starting back in the 90's, when R-12 was banned!
    Sludging of freon, will not occur when converting a system from R-12 to R-134a, if you do the repair properly, as the car industry has also been doing with car air conditioning systems since the 90's, with zero issues, and I have been doing with domestic refrigerators since the 90's with zero issues! It is all a lie, from SubZero and others to sell you a new $10,000+ New refrigerator, instead of fixing it for less than a tenth of that cost!
    The final part of the video discusses the Restoration Kits, consisting of a new compressor, evaporators, heat exchanger and filter/drier, that will bring your SubZero refrigerator back to life, to last another 20+ years!
    Restoring your older SubZero refrigerator and freezer, also will avoid you having to spend 10's of thousands of dollars remodeling your kitchen, because the new refrigerator, freezer doesn't always come int he same size as they used to, which could easily cost you another $20,000 - $50,000 potentially!
    Please don't fall for the BS that Subzero has been telling customers for the last 30 years, that your older SubZero refrigerator or freezer cannot be fixed!
    All older SubZero refrigerators an freezers can be fixed, and I supply and sell the seal;ed system parts, as well as all other parts, to repair them, at dramatically cheaper prices than a new unit costs!
    If you have questions about your SubZero refrigeration product, go to my SubZero restoration kits web site, www.RestoreYour... for details and to see the restoration kits and prices for yourself, and if you have any questions or your model is not listed on the web site, you can contact me and I will discuss all the details for you.
    Don't throw away your older SubZero refrigerator or freezer, Restore it, no matter what anyone, including SubZero told you!

    I bought a Sub-Zero 561 at a thrift store sale. I replaced a fan on the fridge side, thermostat, and condenser fan. It's been working perfectly for 15 years, now, with yearly maintenance.

      The older ones don't have any electronics in them, and very few operational parts, which makes them worth repairing and they last forever!

    My mom had a top compressor side by side KitchenAid, almost like a Sub-Zero, that cost 3600 dollars from 1993 or 7450 dollars adjusted for inflation. Also the thermostat is digital even though it looks like it's analog since the temp knobs control a potentiometer but, super reliable. Most beautiful white refrigerator ever and literally made for Sam's Club or Costco. It lasted 20 years before they threw it out for an inferior fridge over a 75-dollar part and it broke my heart. It had warranty repairs and every time it's out of gas, they put in a new compressor which is a nice gesture. I wanted a sub-zero or at least the modern-day stainless steel equivalent of that white KitchenAid but, settled for frigidaire due to my limited budget. Once my frigidaire dies, I'd rent a fridge for a couple months, have the cabinet guys get my kitchen cabinets to accommodate a 42-inch subzero, and place an order for a sub-zero.

    So nice you put together kits to support this. My uncle bought a house with two very nice sub zero Column style fridge and freezers. They have to be 15 years old at newest. Clean overall.

    Good points, although I'd say that in older units I've seen hard restrictions and or leaks in the copper lines that run through the frame for the freezer section of Sub zero and also in their wine coolers. The sealed system in the refrigerator section is 95% repairable.

    • @abaappliance-az
      @abaappliance-az  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can easily turn the 95% into 100%, because the not so common, but absolute possibility of the condensing line that runs through the mullion to heat the cabinet does get leaks inside the cabinet, and can be bypassed, since the sweating of the mullion is not really an issue in most states, unless it is in a severe humid state, such as the Miami area, or the like, and still not much of an issue, even after bypassing it.
      The system is not affected by taking the section of the condensing line going down through the cabinet, out of the system and bypassing it, making it 100% repairable for the refrigerators and freezers. I have done it many times, even once cutting open the cabinet by the customer's request, to repair the line and closing the cabinet back up afterwards to cool perfectly, but this is not ideal, and too much work.

      @@abaappliance-az I've converted R12 to 134 for the refrigerator on those units but was told that it was not really a good idea for the freezer. Is that a lie also??

    • @abaappliance-az
      @abaappliance-az  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lg6400 Makes no difference whether it is a refrigerator or freezer, the process is the same, and conversion is the proper thing to do for all units, including the freezers. There is nothing special about the freezer that would give someone any reason not to convert it also. All it is is a lower temp unit, same parts, pretty much, just a lower temp point, which affects nothing at all, and the conversion works just as well, as it does for the refrigerator. It is the proper repair, to convert all units to R134a. Block out all the ignorant ones stating things that simply are not true, from all the misunderstanding and lies that SubZero continues to tell these days, in hopes to sell new units to people, instead of fixing the older units that should be and can be fixed, much cheaper than wasting $10 to $18,000 on a new unit, then having to remodel your cabinets at another outrageous cost! SubZero techs need to start being honest and they simply seem to have just been all about greed the last 10 plus years!

      @@lg6400 Even cleaning the system is no big deal, just blow it out with nitrogen, because you are installing a new compressor, with the new R134a oil in it, and a new filter/drier, and then evacuating the system, so all contaminants will be out of the system anyway, and ready for the new R134a freon!

    Thank you for this video and the offerings on your website. I have a SubZero 590 in which the Freezer side is no longer working. The house is a new purchase that already had it built in.
    Now the much more difficult part is probably finding a S.E. Michigan local repair company that is willing to take on the project of repairing the unit with your repair kit that I much prefer to invest in buying. I don't want to have to deal with getting it repaired later on. I prefer to have it last 25 more years.

    I’ve got a 600 series, it had a leak in the fridge evap, as a result it threw an error “vac cond”. I tapped the system and found a leak, so I replaced their heat exchanger evaporator dryer. Also I replaced the compressor it was working, but almost 20 years old.
    My problem is the error keeps coming back.
    I’ll be going to the callback on Monday. Any tips would be appreciated

      Yah, do what he says if you want to really piss off the customer and fill the house with dirt all over everything! DON'T EVER BLOW OUT A CONDENSER IN A KITCHEN WITH AN AIR COMPRESSOR...are you kidding me? You use a condenser brush and brush down, with the fins and also use a vacuum with a brush attachment, to do the same, brushing down, with the fins, and it gets it very clean. Dust and dirt end up mostly on the surface of the condenser, not inside it ...then when done cleaning with the vacuum, shine a light from the right to left and make sure you see good light coming through, and you are good. If there's light coming through, there is plenty of air going through it.
      Common sense, smh,
      Rule of thumb for those without any common sense...don't ever do something in a customer's hone your mother or wife wouldn't blow up by you doing at home!
      Or try it at home first if you don't believe me, and see how the wife or your mother reacts....yah...if you survive! Good luck and all she needed was this last screw up by you to divorce you and go marry that younger hot stud she's been seeing behind your back!
      If you had common sense and did things right, she would have never cheated and left you!
      Oh well!

    • @abaappliance-az
      @abaappliance-az  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it won't shut off, then the thermostat is not working, very likely.
      The thermostat is what senses the temp in the unit, and turns the compressor off when it gets to the proper temp, and back on when it warms up.
