When you get up at 5 A.M. the night ends early. Sometimes I'm up at 3 A.M. to take clients tarpon fishing. It's really exhausting when you do a lot of it. Good move with making the 'dodger' on the cockpit. The sun drains you of energy, and the more shade, the better. I love that you guys celebrate, the day, the night, hard work, time off, with friends, or just for the hell of it. Seize the day!
We stayed at the resort there a couple of years in a row and walked over to the dolphin pools multiple time per day to see them The first year the dolphins seemed active and swam quickly around the enclosure and played with any leaves that fell in the pool and each other. The second year we were horrified to see that they had downsized the cement pools significantly, we assume to cram in even more tourists. The dolphins had little room to swim and looked inactive and really lethargic...it made me cry to see them. Never again will I support any place that keeps wildlife in captivity unless it is for rehabilitation purposes.
Hey Winelass- yeah it was really sad :( Hopefully these things will begin to change soon in MX. It took FL a LONG time to protect it's dolphins. I'll actually do some research to see if there are any activist groups interested in these issues. Thanks for watching!
I hope that you were safe on the Jetty Wall where you tied up. I have had some nights when the wind came up and around so it was blowing right down the Jetty making huge unmanageable and dangerous swells' This forced a move during the night to a safer spot. Never want to have to do that again.
challenge suggestion... Man overboard drill under sail with no motor. Timed event. Drop a crew member (or fender), let a certain amount of time or distance elapse before the remaining crew member single hands back and effects the rescue.
Great to see some beautiful sailing shots, you guys rock! :). Challenge suggestion: best made video of a day in the life living aboard in Isla Mujeres!
Sailing Project Atticus thanks looking good, was thinking about adding a hard top to my boat, not for shelter from the sun but the rain here in scotland!
Hey! What if ... a Treasure Hunt? Bury some Beers somewhere on the Island and Leave Notes all over the Place. Start with one Note and let them find the next .. and so on? Fair Winds and lots of Fun!
have made the sail from Isla to Puerto Adventuras before. got a late start to Puerto adventuras so ended up entering after sundown. Very high on the pucker factor! A vagabond 47 had run aground earlier and was being towed off and lost a rudder there. If you think that entrance is interesting try entering Tulum!! There were no markers there unlike Puerto Adventuras and there were breakers there as well. enjoy the videos
I'm also following Sailing Uma. I saw the first part of the challenge. I'm up to date on their channel but a little behind on yours. I love your sailing details, winds, currents, etc. However can you show more on you sail trimming? I also noticed your boat has a tiller. Do you have an auto pilot? If so can you explain in one of your episodes?
Hey SV Havin' Patience! Hope you're enjoying catching up! Sure- we can definitely add more details about our sail trimming. We're about 8 months ahead of our videos, so look for it in our videos in a couple of months. Thanks for the feedback!! -Desiree
Treasure hunt challenge -- Growing up, Matt and I, and our group of friends often made treasure hunts for each other. If you have a week, you have plenty of time to make a pretty BA treasure hunt for each other. You could design them, and then whoever makes the best treasure hunt wins. But really you're all winners, cuz then the other team got to go on an awesome treasure hunt. Also a great way to explore parts of a new town you wouldn't have otherwise come across. email me if you want specific ideas for the hunt.
Hey John! You have no idea how much I love scavenger hunts too! I used to organize a christmas morning scavenger hunt for my family every year growing up! It was always so much fun! And you're right- everybody wins because scavenger hunts make EVERYONE happy! Thanks for the tip!
Found ya from Uma! I wish they put a link up and vice-versa :-) For more shade, use umbrellas . They make them with clamps on the bottom of the pole (or you can fit your own C-clamp etc). They work great to block sun and wind. I started doing that hummm about 20 yrs ago in the Channel Islands CA USA and now I have seen them everywhere so give it a try and see what you think! o---)
That too. Which is why you need more water. We installed a 120 gallon electric off-peak water heater at my vacation home. It's inexpensive AND provides enough water for everyone. OR....maybe you need to do a better job of communicating the benefits of her SHARING the ware with you? I mean, it's all about the wives you know.
Really enjoying you two. Sail on, sorta like Rock on, and if you run into a fellow sailor friend on Viva named Bob Willmann, tell him Aloha and In Hoc from Brother Jim.
Great seeing you guys again! It's been over a year since I last saw an episode, I think. I really like the places. You guys traves through. That tiki bar restaurant looked cool. Like how you guys are getting along. A while back my ou looked like you guys were going crazy. Now THAT'S a real relationship! Lol. P.s. how do you guys make 💰 to buy provisions and dock and eat?
A scavenge challenge between crews... Each pair of crew mates make a list of the five most needed items for their boat or have wanted to have or a new improved, 'gotta have' item you've seen online or in the stores or salvage yards. You can specify a cost limit and weight limit. The other team does the same and you swap the list. Team that fills the other crews "Wish List" first wins the prize. The looser crew get all their goodies and the winner crew gets a few odds and ends, but revels in the glory of being the best scrounging crew in the harbor. Build on the idea... Who knows, it might become a thing.
Isla Mujeres is the island of women. All over the island is artwork depicting beautiful women mostly nude. Which crew can find the most of this art treasure and photograph themselves with it.
You need challenge suggestions? Really? As if live-aboard cruising doesn’t provide enough daily challenges already. Like keeping the water on the outside and the whole enterprise afloat, both figuratively and literally isn’t enough? Or, getting from point A to point B without colliding with floating object C or fixed object D. Perhaps harnessing or just coping with the capricious forces of nature while keeping your wits about you. Okay, how about following the route of solo circumnavigator Sir Francis Charles Chichester on Gypsy Moth. Too much? Okay, physical challenge: jump overboard while holding the bitter end of a line and see who can tie a bowline in the line before hitting water (old First Division Navy Challenge.)
Hahah! So true! And I love that bowline idea! Our boat is probably way too small for that to be physically possible, haha, but we can try! Thanks for the tip!
I am truly sad about the dolphins it is the only reason I gave a thumbs down. Love to both of you U are living the dream. It will always be better doing what U are doing than working in any other type of a job.
I’ve been meaning to ask if you ever consulted with or knew of Scott and Kitty Kuhner who circumnavigated (the first time) in sister-ship, BEBINKA back in 1971?
Hey gulfcoastbeemer! Yes! We have been in touch with them and we look up to them! Here's a post we did to give them a shout out on our facebook page: bit.ly/2Ky3nL5. Really cool couple! Thanks for mentioning them!
Fishing challenge...Both your channels need to fish more...fish caught equals a bigger budget...just my opinion as a future scavanger LOL...James on Zingaro has a great hardtop build video, thats going to be the basis for my hardtop...favorable winds!
I know you're long gone from Isla Mujeres, but there is an Ice Bar there which is like negative 20º and you could see who could stay in the longest... Next time of course... :P
I used to be a rafting guide. Some of us would do this year around. Tons of creams, big hats, so far I haven't heard of anyone with skin cancer. Lucky I guess.
Haha! My friend who just had a baby sent me a photo of herself looking sleep deprived and said, "I take back all the times I thought I was exhausted pre-baby" haha!
I have two kids? not sure if you can still call them kids, 26 and 13 now. the boy (13) didn't sleep all night until he was over a year old... I can't even remember sleeping... LOL I feel her pain!
Hey Mark! I think that was Dan from Uma- he actually temped us to try to get a lasik consultation in Cancun- just not in the budget right now though :(

Good to see you guys keeping it real as always.
Hey!! Thanks kingcactus!!
Jordan, your delivery of “Okay, that’s enough” at 9:45 is hysterical. After two replays it was still laugh-out-loud funny.
We stayed at the resort there a couple of years in a row and walked over to the dolphin pools multiple time per day to see them The first year the dolphins seemed active and swam quickly around the enclosure and played with any leaves that fell in the pool and each other. In perspective, this entire region lacks humane rights for people, forget any sympathy for animals.
Love you for that.

Hey Cody! Thanks for the challenge idea! Sounds like fun and good practice too!
Fun video to watch as many of us have had similar situations, it brings back fun sailing memories, fair winds.
Great to see some beautiful sailing shots, you guys rock! :). Challenge suggestion: best made video of a day in the life living aboard in Isla Mujeres!
Hey Waka! This is such a cool idea! We want to do something together, but maybe down the line when we're in the same place that would be a cool idea!!
Glad I found your channel, you guys are a cool couple.
Hey Adam! Welcome to the channel! Thanks for watching!
I like an idea posted on Uma's channel. A beach clean up recruiting local kids. Who can pick up the most trash, pound per pound.
Christine C hey! Great idea!
Thank you..
Thanks enjoye looking forward to see u make the hardtop
Thanks! You can see a sneak peak of the build here: bit.ly/2JSyMqz
Sailing Project Atticus thanks looking good, was thinking about adding a hard top to my boat, not for shelter from the sun but the rain here in scotland!
Oh cool! Let us know how it goes! Send us some photos!!
Hi. I’m a new subscriber watching you from the Bahamas. I love your channel and what you do.
Hey! What if ... a Treasure Hunt? Bury some Beers somewhere on the Island and Leave Notes all over the Place. Start with one Note and let them find the next .. and so on? Fair Winds and lots of Fun!
Great idea! Thanks for the suggestion!
Welcome! :)
Just awesome
Awesome episode. Had no idea Deadpool was a sailor....lol
haha! Taking the seas by storm!

Heeey Terry! Oooh that sounds scary! Glad you made it through!! Love your stories about sailing in the Yucatan!! Keep them coming!
Nice cover over the hatch too.
THanks!!

Hard top dodger project sounds like fun. For me anyway. I’m just watching on You Tube.
Haha! True!

Hey Captain Mark Gray! That's an awesome idea- we'll give it a try! Welcome to our channel and thanks for watching!
Another great vid. Will be very interested to see you build that hard dodger (hope you'll show how its done).
Jack Rabbit thanks Jack!! Yep we have a whoooole ep planned about the hard dodger ;)
LMAO!!! You two boys.... Conserving water and soap....It's an old couple trick. I'm glad you are taking advantage of it.
Stargate Pioneer my wife takes all the water. Is that normal?
Stargate Pioneer haha yeah it’s a great little trick :)
Stargate Pioneer happy wife, happy life!!
Jordan totally said Sarasota,Fl 🤙
Viva Atticus
Rock climbing !
Niiice!
Fun, you sailed right past our hotel. (Play del Carmen) We took a catamaran and went snorkelling in front of the harbour Puerto Aventura.
Oh no way! Very cool! How was the snorkeling there?
A knot tying contest, a cook off, treasure hunt, egg toss.
Oooh! Great ideas! Thanks for the suggestions!
Good vid ya'll.
Looked very hard for the Bahia de Ascensión" It is Mexico, correct ? . no luck . "Isla Mujeres" came right up, what a place !
Hey Californiakayaker! Try searching for "Punta Allen" If you zoom out you can see the bay :) Let me know if that works!
Really enjoying you two. Sail on, sorta like Rock on, and if you run into a fellow sailor friend on Viva named Bob Willmann, tell him Aloha and In Hoc from Brother Jim.

Challenges: Minute to win it ones... any of those are always good!
Yes! This is great! I just looked up a bunch! Thanks for the suggestions!
Okay...we need to put more money into the Desiree man costume (beard mustache) fund!
Haha! Yeees!
When the wind goes against that current, does it generate waves ? Happens on the coast of south Africa, Indian Ocean Side, and can get very bad !
Kite surfing race , classic scavenger hunt ( find odd trinkets on land and random stuff in the wate even)
Hey mlysy459! Thanks for the suggestions!! I LOVE a good scavenger hunt!!
You are right. Do those fit over your glasses or do you wear contacts too?
I (Desiree) wear contacts. Actually come to think of it, Jordan's sunglasses are prescription :)

Todd Edger this is a great one! I love the steeet art here! Jordan and I might have an advantage though bc we’ve been here for a while ;)
Ok. That explains it.

Clicked the links in your description block to order Jordan's and Desiree's shirts and, guess what? They're all sold out except for size small. Jeesh!
yeah the company stopped making them a couple years ago :(
How about a scavenger hunt around the island. Its a good fun spirited challenge.
Great idea! I LOOOVE scavenger hunts!
You look so tired and sunburned!
Yeah, we gotta get better at applying sun screen!
Boat looks good.
gracias!
My next boat will be a pilothouse sailboat, I could not handle all that sun.
Good point! Yeah, the sun is brutal!
I am truly sad about the dolphins it is the only reason I gave

Sail Oria complete refit Hey! Good idea! Most of Isla has protected reef so this could be a challenge but we’ll see what we can do!!
Hard dodger build about to start on #followtheboat

Not buying Desiree as a boy!
Most sunburn on the water comes from reflected sunlight.
Safe travels and good health.
What is the blue and white cylinder at the aft? It is above the steering.
Hey TheJackal! It's our fiberglass propane tank. Here's a link: amzn.to/2FFtThV
how about a sailboat race?
good idea! Gracias!
Uma~~!!!!!!
Are the sunglasses you're wearing in this episode perscription or are you wearing contacts under them?
Hey Mark! They're not prescription sunglasses :)
I know you're long gone from Isla Mujeres, but there is an Ice Bar there which is like negative 20º and you could see who could stay in the longest... Next time of course... :P
And now Dan and Kika are in the UK 🇬🇧 17:38
Is that an Allied Seawind 36?
Hey Hans! It's actually a 1963 Allied Seawind 30 (Ketch). I WISH we had a 36 footer :)
Whats the blue hoodie your wearing called
A mistake
I have a good friend dying an agonizingly painful death from skin cancer. Ask her if protecting yourself from the sun is a "mistake".
I used to be a rafting guide. Some of us would do this year around. Tons of creams, big hats, so far I haven't heard of anyone with skin cancer. Lucky I guess.
My friend never worshiped the sun, but lived in Florida. All it takes is one little spot on your skin that goes undetected for too long.
Hey Rob! We love these hoodies! Here's a link to Jordan's: amzn.to/2KtNN3h
Who can free dive the deepest ?
Sorry what was the name of the other channel?
Dingy rodeo! Or boat jousting.

Oh Heck yeah! First Baby!
Boat maintenence pop quiz :)
Hey that's a great idea too!
I just saw the episode where you got your eyes fixed.
Hey Mark! I think that was Dan from Uma- he actually temped us to try to get a lasik consultation in Cancun- just not in the budget right now though :(

Hey Snake Plisken! These are AWESOME! thanks for the ideas!
Those dolphin want out!!! I don't think that I could support that marina. I wonder if they are even permitted to have them in captivity. Sad!
Desiree, I can't believe you let him #1 wipe his nose with his shirt and #2 make us watch him wipe his nose with his shirt! He's turning into a scorbutus canine! ; )>
Challenge: Who can pull their boat the farthest

A men's only wet t-shirt contest?
Yeees!
we dont need to see you when you explayne somthing ,we need to see what you meen ,dont need to looking at you,,
Great episode, but please stop calling your wife bud. It's terribly annoying.
Sure, they should change their nickname for each other because of a grumpy TH-camr. Makes sense
No it’s definitely cool. It shows their friendship is just as important as their romantic relationship
True! It's not always hearts and roses- we have to trust each other and get through some very difficult arguments and decisions together!
