That camera was available in more sets than that. It was available with the 1349 LEGO Studios Steven Spielberg MovieMaker Set. The only difference that I am aware of, is that the blue and grey on the camera are reversed. To the best of my knowledge, it is the same camera, and the only remaining difference is software.

I was given the Control Center when it was released in 1990. I was eight. I remember building the plotter and modifying it to have a multiple pen holder, and fantasizing about somehow connecting it to our PC to… erm… well I wanted to falsify my parents’ signatures. :)

also, i am one of the luckiest persons on EARTH. my mom bought me a random remote control train set from lego back when i was 3 and instead of coming with the standard v1 reciver, it came with THE V2 RECIVER. when i finally watched videos of how rare that darn v2 reciver is and that it dident appear in my set, i was like "oh god, i am so lucky" so due to that that means that there was an error in the lego factory and that they sent the WRONG reciver for my set. so thats how i own a v2 reciver.

The original fibre optics (I have the shuttle) were sold at a massive loss - the cost to create this in 1996 was way more expensive than the cost in the set. These days it would be much cheaper to build as LED and the controls are much cheaper to mass produce, but in 1996 it was very special.
Have the lego camera - I got it to work on windows XP, but could not get it any more modern OS
I have 2 of the code-pilot sets cos the set is so cool.
I have the control centre 2 (the T-rex) set.
    The 4x4 crawler...
    How sad am I :)

The fiber optic would look so cool on the chiron and sian if they made different colors and just a single fiber

    • @CatOnTheCouch
      @CatOnTheCouch 3 ปีที่แล้ว

The fiber optic was an interesting idea but it was way too expensive to produce; the element alone costed more than the entire set, so Lego was selling them at a huge lose.
Those costly features played a part in Lego's 2004 (almost) downfall, so now everything is about cost-saving, even in those 'luxury" car sets you will not find any special feature/functions.

Many more unique electronics out there:
    1. Cybermaster control unit and touch sensors (2 sets, both are the same except one comes with a carrying case )
    2. Interface A for the school exclusive Dacta/Education line, not for retail (2 sets)
    3. Control Lab Serial Interface for Dacta (1 set)
    4. Technic Speed Computer (2 sets, only the Technic one is available for retail, the other one is for Dacta/Education)
    5. Stop watch from the Competition Racers with Stopwatch set (1 set)
    6. USB camera from the Steven Spielberg Moviemaker Set (2 sets)
    7. Micro Scout from Droid/Dark Side Developer Kit(s) (2 sets)

I looked at them both and saw that my 8094 controller is labeled Technic Control Center, and my 8485 controllers are labeled Lego Technic Control Center (I have 2 of this set). the control center 1 isnt as impressive as people think it is. it can only memorize actions and doesn't have any feedback. it just records your input into memory and plays it back. just having the batteries drained a little more can throw it off. its no longer stock, as i had to clean it up due to battery corrosion (it was left in storage for years with batteries installed), i also installed a barrel jack as the battery contacts are very iffy. the cables and motors also did not fare very well, with cable insulation disintegrating over time and contacts corroding. i was able to restore some of the cables but they are also no longer stock and i also ruined one of the motors trying to restore it.
i think i built every model in the set and still have all the pieces. i think my favorite build in the set was the drawing machine (plotter, i don't remember what it was called). you could draw a pattern and copy it several times.

Despite the drawbacks, i still believe it is awesome, especially considering it came well before the mindstorms system
