Hi Cameron, Brilliant vids! Some pointers for future builds: a) Al does not mix with steel/brass etc., that brassy finish will cause corrosion due to the dissimilar metals. Mild steel is similar though the colour is less obvious to the eye. Scotchbrite and Stainless is best for surface cleaning and for best finish use buffer attachments and metal polishing soaps or pastes. b) when refitting the bearings heating the casing and freezing the bearings is fine, but don't use the freeze spray near the casing.. If you accidentally hit the hot casing with the spray it will cause granular cracking in the cast aluminium. You won't see it but it will give future problems with strength and corrosion. c) Given the size of the casings, it should be enough to heat the case in the oven only by the way, but drop the bearings in as soon as it comes out of the oven. This may be impacted by the number of bearings. Reheating will loosen the bearings already placed due to the rate of expansions between Fe and Al metals. What you can do is make a sandbox to hold the casing and heat the both. This will retain the heat a lot longer giving you the time you need. d) Get a sheet of plate glass and engineers blue to check flatness before assembly where mating flat surfaces is important. Better still an engineers surface table. I'm a 63 yr old dinosaur who did an aircraft apprenticeship before the days of assembly exchange rather than fixing it. All too often I come across "professional" engineers who are limited by a belief that you only replace and return assemblies; you must not delve into the inner workings. It's great to see you getting stuck in to the deeper nuts and bolts. Even more so as following your voyage of discovery from mishaps brings a real world level people can relate to. Hopefully more people will get stuck in based on your example. As you've said when completing a section, "it's easier than you'd think". Best of luck for your future, despite your hurdles you've got a great attitude.
Pryme, been a while since your last video, got worried! How’s ur health lately? My cousin is 40 with pancreatic cancer so I️ know how your family must feel about this whole mess, stay strong, and keep up the good vids!💪
I’m glad your healthy enough to make a video!!! But don’t push it stay safe Cam✊🏼sending prayers your way keep fighting man. Bike is looking pretty trick.Pryme!
cameron you are the best guy to rebuild the dirt bike engine so far in intire 50 state of america ,step by step installation at the same time the parts are soooooooo clean ,thanks brother cameron for watching
One thing to remember is some times when you replace the pads, lines and caliper seals you can bleed the brakes and it's still going to feel spongy until the brakes are bedded in. I've had that happen to road bikes it might not be the same on single disc systems but just a tip for anyone who might be struggling. I also use a wet rag as it stops the fluid ruining paint. Great video and very clear instructions, happy New year and hope to see more progress soon :)
I have been following this build since day one there has been a lot of things that I have learned that no other channel has showed me I have found that you explain more than anyone else on TH-cam
Happy new year Cameron to you and your family!! I'm so happy to see you doing well !! I absolutely love your builds especially the cr250 , you are a very talented person and have a great eye and attention to detail !! Keep it up , I learn something new from every video you put out THANK YOU SO MUCH for your time and knowledge!! I have a 06 crf450 with a 2000 Cr500 engine I'd love to have you pimp it out!! It's a nice bike now BUT with your abilities I'd love to see what you could do with it !!
Cam you are looking stronger and healthier, hope you keep healing up and get back into the swing of things. Your ability to brush off adversity and struggle inspires others. Stay strong and keep it PRYME👌
Chad Kennedy haha thanks man!! I’d appreciate if you would check some videos out, commenting and subscribing would mean the absolute world to me. Thanks!
Great looking build. I can't help but to comment on the way you bleed the brakes. As a car mechanic, i've bled the brakes on maybe a thousand cars and in doing so I learned a thing or two. The way you fill the system up from the bleed screw to the master cilinder and then pumping it back out through the bleed screw, you're first pushing the air up, only to pump it back down. The risk in this is that you trap air in the caliper as they are meant to be bled pumping fluid through from the master to the caliper, the bleed screw is located on the top of the caliper to make sure no air can stay in the system. Now, I understand that you dont want to pump 50 times to bleed it. If you fill the master and open the bleed screw, gravity will bleed 95% of the brake as the fluid travels down through the system more easily than the air travels up the system through the fluid. Therefor, if you open the bleed screw and wait for the fluid to come out and then pump it once or twice with the screw open, you will 9/10 times have bled the brake already. On the 1/10 times this doesn't quite do it, close the screw, put pressure on it and open screw like normal. Do this once or twice and it's definately bled. It becomes tricky when you have ABS systems that you have to electronically unlock but that's not an issue on dirt bikes. Get well soon!
I aspire to someday have the amount of skill, persistence and attention to detail that you have. I also want to get a dirt bike but my parents want me to finish the projects I have right now.
Cameron... tbh I’ve been subscribed for like almost a year now. I never actually watched your videos tho, seemed really boring to me. But then when I was so bored, I actually watched one of your videos and instantly watched almost all your videos (yep, even the old ones) I admire you and love how you put so much detail into your work. Still kinda thought you were a douchebag tho. But when I saw that you were hookin other people up with stuff, I felt like you deserve wayyyyy more than 150K subs. Like I see you comment everywhere, yet you just aren’t getting big for some reason. THEN, when you got cancer, I actually became so sad for a while, I just re watching all your videos. I felt really bad for you, since Just life overall f*cked you over. Not only did I become sad, I also became scared... I am always painting things for my dirt bikes as well, and found out the paint has lead, which causes cancer. Now, whenever I paint, I ALWAYS wear a mask... I’m glad you’re up and running, and hope you fight cancer off, as well as gain many many many more viewers. Love ya, CAM STRONG ❤️! (PS. Pryme)
So stoked on your channel man. Im rebuilding a 1990 cr250 and have been watching your videos religiously! This is my homework before I start the build lol
Pryme!! I have really enjoyed watching this build series. I am currently stripping down and restoring a CR125 and I have been using this series as a way to keep me on track and to get ideas about how I want to restore my bike. Thanks for always delivering excellent content!
Totally inspired by you Cam...a year of illness has left me wanting to throw a leg over a dirt bike once again! It's been 15 years since I last owned/rode one (had a horrendous crash because of another rider) and I'm looking to buy something soon! I'm torn between buying new or starting a project bike...we'll see what pops up in the classifieds in the meantime! Wishing you all the best with health & happiness...RIDE ON!
Pryme your bike is looking so good. I have been working on a 2000 CR250R. It’s a play bike, needing some love. I went with the Galfer front rotor kit to help stop the old girl. Love your videos.
Dude I’ve been watching your CR build since day 1! The moment you got the bike I was like bad ass! I’ve got a 02 also I got this year and I want to do this same thing I just don’t know where to start! I’m excited for you to finish this thing and hear her screeeeaam!
Pryme! Great to see you doing OK. I really like your videos. You are the king of the cleanest dirt bikes on the planet! I appreciate all your video shooting and editing as well. Lots of work. I wish more people understood what that takes!
Wow that trick with the syringe and the brake fluid is amazing you're a genius dude I'm gonna have to use it for my street bikes as well as my dirt bikes!
I'm lovin' this build Cameron! You've already shown me how to do so many things on my dirt bikes that I was sure I would have to pay through the nose to have someone else do it (cerakoting and powder coating come immediately to mind!). Keep it up man! Can't wait to see you ride it!
03 250 here as well. Been watchin your vids from the beginning. Glad tou showed how to line up markings on the kickstart spindle gear... Took mine off and didnt know how to line it up right again. Hope your doing well. Happy new year! Keep it pryme!
Bike is looking fantastic and its great to have you back Cameron.I am now looking for a bike as a project bike as you have inspired me to take on a project. Thanks
PRYME ;) awesome. can't wait to see it finished. Happy new year buddy. We got the same goal for 2019, but my cr250 99' is a bit less fashion! still working really great, and so happy to smoke many 450 with it ahah. Keep on doing the sick job we definitely love it
I just have to add, that thing looks like a factory works bike. It’s almost a shame to go get it dirty, but it’s going to be so sweet to ride, I’m sure that will overcome any anxiety!
You could also fill with the syringe and fill the master and then pull vacuum from the caliper and get the air out that way. Thats the only way I could get the bubble out of my mountain bike rear brake. Used to hate bleeding brakes on my dirtbikes
Nice job Cameron, you would make a great shop teacher. You have a positive, informed delivery, and attention to detail. Two minor things, you shouldn't roll the aluminum bars in the mounts like that, as it can score the aluminum, make a riser, and possibly crack on a big hit/landing. Also, the forward clamp bolts should be snugged up with the clamp touching, and then the rear(closer to rider) bolts tightened, creating the clamp. Thanks for the videos. Enjoy the CR, I love my '95! Happy New Year.
PRYME!! that bike is looking so trick can’t wait to see it finished!!! I really want to see it on mxa or something because who would want to see this beauty!. Also hope everything is going well for you even though you looking your best right now and you’re being so strong hope the best for you and can’t wait to see the finished bike!!!!
Not knocking you man, but fill up the master cylinder, attach a hose to bleeder leading to a container to catch the fluid, crack the bleeder and go do somthing else for a few minutes. Its called gravity bleeding and works every time. Do a round or two of some traditional pump up and hold bleeding afterwards for peace of mind. No special tools required other than a piece of hose, a container and a wrench.
Pryme cameron ,bikes looking great , as always great video , i started on my kx 250 1998 , ii wil do a full restauration on it but will save most of the oem parts , just clean and spray 😃, i put the progress on TH-cam , greets from belgium
It might me the case that You'v bolted front rotor with wrong rotating direction on. Re-check for arrow on surface. Awesome amount of effort and beautyfull hardware in that build!
pryme am glad to see you making videos again buddy, am buiding a 99 cr 250 as well, not near as nice as yours but a great winter project! thanks for the inspiration!! all the best
great job on the CR250 man! i've recently started watching the video's and it's really great to see how you're explaining every single step along the way. trough these video's i maybe want to rebuild a dirtbike for myself. Keep up the good work. Greetings from the Netherlands
pryme!! love the vids bro keep it up love to see you going strong seeing as everything going on! your doing an amazing job on that old honda, cant wait to see the finished product! :)
I don’t think there’s anyone else on TH-cam with better instruction on how to work on dirt bikes . Am I right?
anybody can work on a dirt bike but he does the best work for sure Cameron's the man
very true
yep you are right ;)
I agree too👌🏽

Hi Cameron, Brilliant vids! Some pointers for future builds:

What's your goal for 2019? Mine is to get this CR250 done and ride the nuts off of it😆
Mine is to finally check my valves clearance and correct Them :D
That bike should never be ridden, it's a master piece. 👍

My goal for 2019 is to get a new Yamaha YZ125! Keep it up Cameron. Can't wait to see this CR250 finished

Bike is looking sick 👍🏽💪🏼
Been watching the build since it started and I love it and it makes me wanna do my own
I’ll say it once again, Pryme
This is by far the best channel I have ever watched for wrenching tips
Do a conversion kit on it with 2018 plastics
TX race also makes some cool plastics
@@coreypierce4888 tx? I tried to look it up I'm intrested in different plastics
Hollie Miller “tx race” they do the 250/125s to the 2016 plastics
Throttle Jockey has some really nice kits!
Please don’t

Nice vids. I use an old plastic block when bleeding bike brakes to replace the pads an rotor. That way if you have a spill nothing get ruined.
Looks awesome so far! Keep up the good work, and good health be with you! You are an inspiration to many others! Pryme.
great job on the CR250 man! i've recently started watching the video's and it's really great to see how you're explaining every single step along the way. trough these video's i maybe want to rebuild a dirtbike for myself. Keep up the good work. Greetings from the Netherlands
