    What a blessing those kids are. " Do you want me to gather some wood"? That was the best part of the video. God Bless you and your family. Wish I was riding with you. Great video/music/editing.

    The boy says, "Can I hang out in your tent with you". At first I was disappointed that you went home, but not anymore. I think I have something in my eye...

    Good call on making memories with the kiddos. Some of my fondest memories are backyard camping and camping with my uncle on the Tennessee river, jug fishing, gigging frogs, and eating gritty eggs cooked on the back of a piece of sign metal. The new family recipie was dubbed egg spluter.

    In 30 years the klr hasn’t changed much but in a blink of an eye those beautiful children will be off to college. Enjoy and cherish every moment you have with them. Enjoy your videos, ride safe.

      Years ago others gave me similar advice. I thought I took heed, but now one of my biggest regrets is not doing more to balance it. They can be annoyingly persistent, but in a blink of an eye you stop being the center of their world and you miss them asking if they can do stuff with you, instead you try to figure out how to entice them to say yes when you ask to do stuff with them.

    Hearing the little child saying - "Do you want me to gather some wood?" really tugs at this Dad's heart. My teen daughter used to say things like that. Now she can't stand to have me in the same room. And it's mutual, most of the time. But, judging from her older siblings, this too shall pass. Soon, Lord, please!
    Really nice video. Mine is a 2011 with so many mods.

    A year later I'm watching this. You had the perfect spot the entire time... at home with your children. Listen to my advice, I'm an older Dad myself. You only get this opportunity with them once. They grow up fast. Time goes quickly. At some point they won't want to hang out with you in your tent. Cherish every moment! ♥️

    Nice, to see another rider in Maine! Saw them post the picture when you bought it. Got my 650 about 2 months ago, wanted the adventure, but they didn't think they were going to get another in this fall, so I settled for the base model. Glad to see you got it though!

    • @DualRider
      @DualRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maine is a nice place to ride. They actually had two adventures and two base models when I got mine. I could have gone either way. But wanted the adventure so I wouldn't have to wait for crash bars and saddlebags to come in the mail! Thanks for the comment.

    I had a similar reason for selling my Himalayan. The Himalayan is a great bike and it works very well on gravel and trails but I was doing long trips and I needed more power and comfort. I bought a 2023 KLR 650S. I am not much of a camping guy any more. I'm 70 and I have done a lot of mountaineering and backpacking over the years. Now I hotel it but sometimes when I'm in really remote areas I take camping gear just in case.

    I went from the 250 rally to the 300 rally and there was a big boost in mid range power. Enough that I never have to change down to get up hills. However, in terms of load on the bike, nothing has changed with the new model and you do put quite a lot of gear on. I agree with your statement in the video, you were pushing it to the limit.
    Enjoy the KLR, a great bike, definitely more suited to your rides and what you want to take.
    We can't get them over here in the UK, not even the previous model. My friend has one but he bought it in Alaska and had it imported back to the UK when he finished travelling. It's the only I've seen here!
    Such a shame because the bike would sell really well in the UK.

      Thanks for the comment Mark. It's funny the difference in markets. The 300l came out shortly after i got the 250. I couldn't get a crf300l to save my life but my local dealers had at least 4 klrs.

    • @DualRider
      @DualRider  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @ih8momjokes1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DualRider what stands out in your experience when cruising on the freeway on both bikes?

    • @DualRider
      @DualRider  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure what happened but after I added a stiffer rear shock on the crf it got really squirrely above 60 mph and I avoided the highway like the plague. Other than that it's about what you'd expect. The crf doesn't have as good wind protection and gets blown around a lot more than the klr. Stock the crf will do it, just not as well.
