    Oh the problems of a new rider. Bro, Ive been riding over 50 years and if these things bug you... buy a car. Your problems are easily resolved. Rider experience and keep things tight. Its a big single thumper!!!

    My thoughts exactly, when I first bought my 22 KLR. However, I don't notice it at all now. I actually like the way it performs now. Not sure if break in had anything to do with it or not. When running at higher rpms and you chop the throttle, you can get that sudden almost nose dive or heavy engine breaking and at first I didn't like it, but now I've found it to be a benefit. Grab a little clutch just as you are releasing the throttle and you can modulate it with the clutch to either free wheel or use as much of the engine breaking as you like.

    The KLR isn’t perfect but it’s perfect for my bank account lol

      That's why I have it. I was being pretty picky but overall I love the klr. The value is unbeatable.

    As far as noises, like you said, check the body panels. I had a couple of them have the fasteners come loose. From squeak sounds to card in spokes sounds. They all turned out to be nothing that an Allen key/screwdriver can't fix. Took approximately two beers to go through the entire bike. All sounds now gone. But on another note, this is NOT a quiet engine. LOL That cycle cylinder is a clacker and there is no way around that. I am finally getting used to mine. My other bike is an 09 Softail and that Twin 96 makes more noise that a pail full of hammers and chains. Just the nature of the beast.
    Thanks for the great vid!

    I like how the clutch bypass feels and myself and most Gen 3 owners have to adjust the headlights. For some reason they have the alignment high from the factory or dealer.

      My headlights were set for coon hunting. LOL Took alot of turns to bring them back down to the road.

      I had a few stall issues when I did the clutch bypass. Hooked it back up and problem solved and I don't see any reason to bypass it now. The clutch switch bumps up idle a little, just as the clutch is being released and I didn't notice any benefits with it bypassed

    You need to check out 3DCycle parts. They have plates to make soft luggage fit the adv. the clutch bypass switch fixes the throttle and they have more cool stuff.

    Is the USB plug under that square plastic cap on the left side of the fairing?

    • @DualRider
      @DualRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is not. It's the same shape as the rubber cover that usb models have so that's why I didn't notice.

      @@DualRider the Adventure model comes with the USB on the left. I'd give your dealer a call and ask them to install it.

    I absolutely love the big dirt bike look of the KLR but Kawasaki should use that Ninja 400 engine and find a way to get that bike to shed about 75lbs.

    • @chadkline4268

      Then everyone will complain the bike gets blown around on the highway.

    • @elitetileandstone
      @elitetileandstone 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kawasaki already has the Versey X , with the 300 Ninja parallel twin. Perhaps that bike will get upgraded to the 400 engine.

      I do think Kawasaki is in a tight spot with their Versys 650. It will be interesting to see what they do in the face of the Transalp, 800DE, Tenere, and F850GS. In one sense, Kawasaki is the only one with a mid size sport tourer, but also the only one without a proper mid size ADV. I highly value the KLR for all it is, but it definitely has some short comings. I think the TransAlp, 800DE, and F850GS (excluding the English/Nordic bikes) are much more attractive do-it-all bikes than what Kawasaki + Yamaha have to offer. If you like dirt mostly, there are lots of good options for lightweight bikes, but if you like all day highway comfort with dirt as an option, there are only 3 main mid size options, and 2 are so new that they haven't been reviewed yet. That is the market I'm interested in. And it's been difficult. I'm thankful for those 3. I guess it's enough.

    My local FB forum steered me away from the Adv model, I got the abs version; I cant see the $3K CD difference in the adv spec. I believe I can add my own aftermarket kit for much less.

    You could buy the touring model and add your own Tusk panniers and I believe you'll still come in less $ than the adventure model. But the black is def beautiful.

      @@DualRider From what I have heard, and am going to try, is bypassing the clutch saftey switch. Apparently when you pull the clutch, it changes the fuel rate. From what others are saying, it smooths out the throttle alot, just need to pay attention when you're starting it.

    • @DS-gv5fs
      @DS-gv5fs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@idiranch I can confirm. Clutch safety switch. You can buy a bypass plug for about 13 bucks. Makes a total night a day difference as it was my biggest gripe when I first purchased it.

    Ive been trying to get my last miles in. When do you put yours away for the winter?

    • @DualRider
      @DualRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't "winterize" except to take the battery out so I can ride pretty much anytime the weather is good, but I dont ride under 35 degrees Fahrenheit or when there's salt on the roads.
