After we watched this review, my wife and decided we needed to try one out. As a result of our test drive, (of which we were able to show the salesman how the computer worked, since we knew from watching your video) we purchased the last one they had on the lot. Love the way it drives, only wish it was turbo - but that's coming next summer. In meantime, we can enjoy the great gas mileage and motorcycle-inspired interior.

The gauge cluster is just like what you see on a motorcycle. The arm rest is shaped like a motorcycle seat, the center console is in the shape of a motorcycle gas tank and the vents on each side of the center console are modeled after the exhaust pipes of a motorcycle. Furthermore, the windows of the car, from the outside, are reminiscent of a motorcycle helmet visor shape.

I agree with Kyle. This design has such a uniquely winning combination, that in itself is striking. Now I know that it may have been inspired by other models, who pioneered this design language, yet Hyundai consistently capable to put its own very desirable interpretations to it. In this instance for example, the exterior is fresh yet it is also charming, the interior is bold yet it is also pleasant. The engineering strikes for economy, yet it wants to be exciting also.
My car but with a 6 spd automatic with keyless entry. I've had this for 9 years(Formerly my mother's) and it has never gave me any trouble besides a battery replacement and random alarm go-offs(Back in 2017 or 2018)
This is a great in depth video. More than I expected. Kudos to you for such a well done video. Unfortunately, Turbo model doesn't see the light of day till October. This was confirmed by my local dealership. :(
I clicked like before to see the video!:))....because I know you are making great reviews of the greatest cars! :D..... sorry for my english, I am from Romania(Europe)!;).....cheers!;)
Beautiful car !!! I would say it reminds me of the 2007 Acent SR. 4 wheel disc with abs, cold air induction ( cone shaped air filter ) , exhaust options, suspension options and strut tower brace. It was $19,000 and could hit $25000. Hyundai is really improving on quality and reliability. The turbo version sounds like a rocket !! Thanks for doing a great video !!
@@PorkyPIGG I think I had a lemon I needed engine and transmission replacement in the first few years but after that the car was solid. It was totaled a few years about I regret not buying it back. Loved that car so much. I now drive a 2019 Mazda 3 hatch awd and it just doesn’t make me happy like my Veloster did
Thank you so much Saabkyle for the wanderful job that you are doing I have been wanting to get a detail tour of the veloster such as the want that you are offering in this video. It was very helpful. But I was a lvery disapointed when I went to the dealer and learned that the USA veloster does not have side mirors turn signal lights. that's a killer for me I should say because. I currently drive a 2011 limited elantra and so I find it difficult to leave all these features for one without.
Im definitely getting a turbo version as soon as it comes available, the regular one looks awesome which means the turbo one is going to be amazing. Keep making these awesome videos they really help!
I've seen one of these in person. It doesn't look as weird as it is on paper. It's basically a coupe with that 3-rd door as a entrance for the back, instead of the front seats moving forward. Clutch and shifts felt quite good in my taste. I look forward into getting one. My parents like it cause it's cheap and not too powerful. I like it cause it looks great and is sporty looking.
@2Kriss2Kross well it supposed to be a 2 door coupe but they added the third door to make it practical for the rear passengers to get in and out. people tend to think it was a 4 door and they took off a door.
@epmc123 majority of car manufactures cheap out on the US-Canada car market by not installing a side signal light because its not required to many cars have this problem specially for the US-Canada market only, if you go overseas, there is signal light on the side or on the mirror
Sweet, now myself I'm kinda leaning towards the Sonata or the Kia sister of that car (can't remember the name of it off the top of my head right now) Since I kinda like having room in my car. lol
Very nice video, was looking for a show of the car as I'm participating in a raffle for one. Thank you for going through the entire stuff. Now I'm really hoping to win it :)
Oh. And I'm totally buying the turbo this summer. I've been looking for a nice looking car that's affordable and with the extra horse power on the turbo it sounds simply amazing... And check out the technology being packed in standard... Holy crap!! We would have paid $200,000 for a vehicle with these kind of luxuries 20 years ago. I'm excited to get one!! Woo hoo!!
Very nice exterior and the nav system plus radio very intuitive to use! I gota admit had my doubts about hyundai but this car looks promising! Cant wait to see the turbo version!
I imagine being in a pissed off mood one day and starting up a Veloster and hearing that startup chime and putting my fist through the screen. Nice car though. Hyundai really coming along. Be nice to see a nice performance version of that thing.
@hameed for what it's worth, when I went for a test drive, I don't recall that sound ever playing. . . . it was on the base model, but it still had the screen. I imagine it's probably a setting.
it may not have a powerful engine but it sure comes with everything else you could want for a really good price -- and some things that I never thought I'd want.
I was actually considering to get this car, I wanted a fully loaded one with the DCT and Style and Tech Package. Sticker came to 23,310. I ended up just getting a Kia Forte 5-Door SX with the Leather, Sunroof, and Tech Package. The veloster has more bells and whistles on the interior and looks pretty stylish, but I wanted the extra grunt that the 2.4L that my SX has. Also, I prefer the more understated styling on the Forte.
@betatalk357 The 200 is NOT a fancy Sebring!! It's based off the Sebring's platform but is a far superior car in every way. I test drove a 200 Limited with the all new Pentastar V6 today and let me tell you, that car is going to be SOMETHING. Heck it already is a hit. Amazingly smooth ride and driving characteristics, great interior quality, powerful, good fuel economy, and it's a very attractive car. I was so impressed with it and it's a tremendous value for only $25k.
@AnonymoussourceL0L Yeah, there is an option within the touchscreen menu that lets you toggle different entrance themes. I test drove a Veloster and did not hear that chime.
@upiluften This has a reason. The main designers of Kia and Hyundai are two germans. Thomas Bürkle und Peter Schreyer. They are responsible for the new design of both brands.
Doesn't matter. The GTI is a solid compact car with a great ride/handling combo and even though it's lacking on features that the Hyundai has standard it's still a better car although there quite a few on the road. Adding a ton of electronic features without driveability makes no sense and that's what Hyundai does. People nowadays are attracted to Hyundai just because of the features and bragging rights it will give them rather than being concerned about the drive of the vehicle they're buying.

I like the car although I'm a bit worried a bit about the motor being powerful enough. Also, I live in the midwest where it snows. Does it have very much ground clearance?
I am loving this car. I've actually had it since May 25th was when I picked it up! I have never looked back since. Everywhere I go it just turns heads. I hope you do get one soon, you won't regret it. What color are you thinking of getting?

I was quite impressed with this vehicle at the Orlando Auto Show just this past weekend. While I have to say it was drastically overstyled, like the car's designer's mouse-click finger had gotten antsy, it was far superior interior-quality-wise to the Genesis 3.8, which was also present at the show. Japan better step up their game or be left behind in the dust!
@dave11686 The black one was just a standard remote and key, there was no button on the handle. the grey one had smart access with push button ignition
@85ZingoGTR I think that idea came since the mid 90s when Saturn released the SL coupe with a 3rd door option. A 4th door would have taken a little charm because it'd have been so ordinary. Hyundai has been doing great products lately, I wouldn't mind having one as my next car
Hey, that start/stop engine button seems a lot exposed. What if one hit it while the car is moving? Is there any protection circuit or the engine will just shutdown?

@saabkyle04 Hey kyle, I was wondering ever since I saw this car, wouldn't it be dangerous to have a start button around the stereo controls? Or is there a specific way you have to do to turn the car off?
@LZSchneider.. Older Volkswagen transmissions worked that way. Four speed and for reverse pull up on the button and.. I can't remember which position. My father rebuilt Volkswagen engines growing up and he owned a couple dune buggys but it has been awhile since I have driven one.
@Timpala44 The Turbo version will most likely follow the same protocol as the Sonata SE...it will be the Limited trim, or the fully loaded Veloster...so tack on about 2k for the turbo...my guess is the Turbo will be around $25,500 fully loaded....IF you have a car you like now I'd keep it and wait for the Veloster Turbo next year, but if you need a car the regular has enough power for routine driving, highway speeds feel great too, but it is NOT a racing machine, its a commuter car with style.
