I joined the rankings of being a proud 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo owner today and I couldn't be happier. All thanks to videos like this I was able to select all the features I wanted of the vehicle, waltz into the dealership once it was delivered, and school the salesman on all it's features. Best video review on youtube. Thank you so much!
For this segment and price range, this car has one of the BEST sounding audio systems I've ever heard. I own this car, and every time I crank up certain songs, it gives me goosebumps. There is 1 midrange speaker in the dash, a tweeter and mid/low range speaker in each of the front doors, a mid/low range speaker beside each passenger, and the subwoofer in the back. The subwoofer can REALLY pump out some clean, powerful bass. The crystal clear sound is best experienced through genuine audio (CD, iPod, Aux Input). The Bluetooth Streaming sounds horrible, but any other input, and it blows you away. The amplifier changes how hard every speaker hits depending on how loud the volume is, to prevent blowing the speakers. I leave the Variable EQ set on Dynamic. But I must say the biggest feature I'm going to miss when the time comes to sell the car is the audio system. I had an aftermarket sound system in my previous car (1999 Grand Cherokee Limited), which consisted of an aftermarket Radio, Amp, and 2 12" subwoofers, and this car still impressed me by a LONG shot. I've had this car for over a year and a half now, and I still get excited to listen to new songs in the car.
Yea, I have a 2013 Veloster turbo and I was pretty impressed by the stock system. It's not perfect, but for factory provided it's pretty nice. First car I've owned with stock sound that I can crank the bass to max and feel it in my seat. Of course, most cars I've owned were older so that's not really much to compare against lol.
Thank you fo talking about the sound system in this car. Im looking for either a 2013 or 2014 cause they are good price right now. I have a 2011 mitsubishi eclipse and the sound system is excellent and had a stock sub in the back so for my new car good sound system is very important. 👍
after watching this everyday, since two weeks ago, now I'm a proud owner of a 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo. Blue / Black. M/T. I'm speechless when I first saw this car, given that it's still pretty rare. And I got a guy that opened his door while in a red light to look at it lmao! awesome feel driving it very comfortable. and this is the best review so far in youtube!
I bought a 2013 non Turbo 6 speed for my gf, I ended up liking it so much I gave her my Fusion and I drive the Veloster. Currently looking to buy a 2013-2015 Turbo stick with tech package! I would definitely recommend this car to anyone, been great no issues at all. Good job Hyundai
Rich? These cars are dirt cheap. $12,000 is the lowest I've seen on the turbo. Still, it's a slow car but hopefully some after market parts company will step up and offer a turbo upgrade. A car that looks this good should have 240 plus in my opinion.
+KimPossible lol. i would like so much to have it tho' but in my country over 10 grand is just too much for a car... cars here in Serbia, well you cant really buy a first car over 2 grand... at least if its your first car... we are very poor country... and this is just insane... cant get a good car for that money...
Love the videos. I'm actually having my Veloster Turbo built from the ground up...to include the ultimate package and all the fixings...and it was because of watching videos like this. I appreciate the effort put into compiling the data, stats, and shots of these cars.
That’s what I’m saying! I wasn’t hooked on this car until I saw one in person and another at night. It looks good in the light and at night with the exterior and the blue interior lights
I had this exact car, as well. It tops out at 162mph from the factory. I have the written warning framed at my mom's house. That's right....warning. It's a really long story lol. It happened in Texas at 4am. That should explain a bunch.
Loved the car the first commercial I saw, and then I found your video and it sealed it. Your better than the 2 salesman that I encountered! Bob Dunn should hire you, they don't have any salesman with half the knowledge about the car! I know, I just bought mine today, I had to teach the salesman a few things thanks to your video! So Thank You Much!
The Veloster is a great car after seeing so many reviews and this one especially and barely seeing it in the streets i had to get one! The price was amazing for what the car offers & the after market parts even better. Mine is coming along beautiful check it out great review !
I have to agree! I just picked up a 2013 Turbo in Matte Grey...very happy with it! Just put some Potenza rubber on it and now getting a stainless 2.5" Magnaflow cat-back system next week! Such great value for money, did a few 2nd gear pulls with a late-model BMW 330i (2l turbo, ~$60k + in my country) recently; we were both side-by-side until the red-line.
this video and the comments make me happy cause i’m lookin for my first car and there hasn’t really been anything around that’s decent but i found a veloster for a really good price and good km hopefully i’ll get it
I test drove one this morning. They didn't have a 6 speed, but the paddle shifters make the automatic option a blast. This car is awesome. Perfect combination of style, power, comfort and fuel economy. This is my next car for sure. Test drive one, you'll love it!
One year ago I bought Veloster 2012! I had chance from Veloster 2012 and 2013 turbo. I chose 2012 and I'm very glad! It's economy! It's very stable!!! I love this design! Sound is very clear! I like all things in my car!
i was skeptical when i heard that Carolina accent. but, this is one of the most informative and thorough reviews i have ever seen, especially since you were not able to drive it. I hope someone gave or gives you a job reviewing cars.
I just bought the 2014 Turbo Veloster. I absolutely love it. I've got every option shown on this video plus interior led lighting and better Michelin tires. Find me a car that out performs mine, with the options I have, plus a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty for under $26,000 and I'll buy it. But it doesn't exist. 0-60 is well under 7 seconds by the way. Probably closer to 6.
You really notice the horses and turbo from 60-100. I wash mine every Sunday morning and take it out on I55 just outside Chicago and open it up. It's a lot of fun to drive.
I really love it. The turbo is a must...don't bother without it. It will definitely snap you back in your seat. I just did Chicago to New Orleans and back again. Best drive of my life. I averaged 105mph thru the whole state of Mississippi. Very fun to drive. I've got every option available, plus Michelin super sport tires. I'd highly recommend it.
FINALLY!! I know you're busy, Kyle, but I've been eagerly awaiting this review ever since I saw it in your "Future Videos" album on Facebook a few months ago . Thanks man!! :)
Dude, you forgot to say "shall we" at the beginning of your review. Lol That's how you know I'm a big fan of your videos. I've watched most of them. Keep up the good work!
I love this car, I actually have the non-turbo, for me a car is a mode of transportation that is supposed to be comfortable and efficient above all else, if I want to go "fast" I have a 2 wheeled vehicle. :) I'm coming up on 2 years of ownership, and I commute 100 miles a day 4 days a week, for work. This car has been reliable. No major issues. I get close to, or just at 40MPG. I'm always happy to be sitting in this car, it's comfortable and i still love the styling.
I just got mine and I love it. It's a good mix of economy and sport in drive, price, and options. Quality is good for the price. I wanted economy sport with a hatch, and different. The turbo gives me the power I need in tight situations with heavy city traffic. The power is there and it zips when needed. My one complaint is it needs a spare tire. Currently not available for the turbo, I'll buy one if ever offered.
Nice job on reviewing that Hyundai Veloster Kyle. Keep the great work & don't let any of those negative comments get you down because your reviews are perfectly fine the way are. - Michael Land
This comment probably doesn't matter, and will get lost in a slough of old posts, but I've owned my VT for about 2 years now and purchased a 2013 matte gray VT used. It's been my daily driver ever since and I really do enjoy it, although it gets a lot of flak for not having proper sports suspension in the rear, I still love it. It's great in winter with a set of winter tires and the economy is pretty decent if driven responsibly. This is my first car I ever bought, and hoping to keep it for 10+ years with all the love and attention it deserves.
As i type this in June of 2018, i have to admit i am liking this vehicle. I currently have a suzuki grand vitara, very old and poor mpg. I am working toward getting the hyundai veloster, although just the base model. That, or a ford focus hatchback. Probably an SE trim. Which do you suggest?
A big bravo to Hyundai/Kia for these big steps they have done...I don't own any of these cars but i would easily buy one of those ( veloster turbo/proceed gt :D )
Saabkyle04 I literally have seen dozens of test drives on this vehicle ALL of them are manuals, as an empty nester with arthritis who likes a little style but doesn't want to row gears anymore I would love to see a TEST DRIVE of an automatic PLEASE! The rest of your video was great, you are the only reviewer I have seen so far to actually put the back seats down to show cargo room (I guess that was to hard for other reviewers to do) So please show a test drive of the automatic, thank you!
+Angela Sarvis Might be a little late, since you posted 4 months ago, but I got a 14 Turbo automatic about a month and a half ago (new, still on the lot). I've driven stick almost exclusively for the last 25 years. Hated every automatic car I ever owned except for 2. A 1976 Cordoba, and the Veloster Turbo. The auto in the 2013-2015 is a traditional torque converted auto with a sport mode and paddle shifters. Between the turbo and the sport mode, I really like it. Standard mode has plenty of punch for daily driving, shifts smooth, and fuel economy is very good. Sport mode modifies the shift points and will hold gears longer for maximum power. You also get manual control with the paddle shifters. Being in my 50's I've got a little bit of sciatica and though I love a stick, I just don't want to have to deal with a clutch in rush hour traffic any more. I can't comment on the 7 speed dual clutch auto in the 2016 as I haven't driven it, but from what I understand, it's pretty darned good once you get used to it.
This is a really nice walkthrough, compared to most walkthroughs I seen in the past, you go into much greater detail and show a lot of what the vehicle has to offer
Great review! Obviously incredible value in this car. One comment I would like to make is that I found the background music quite distracting during your commentary. Overall still a great in-depth review. I am sold on this car.
Thanks for the tutorial video of the Hyundai Veloster. I just got mine yesterday 10/06/2015. Mine is a 2012 Veloster 6 speed manual transmission and BLUE in color. My wife and I are going to have a lot of fun with this vehicle. I just Subbed you. Cheers
I LOVE the idea of a very roomy cargo hatch with the 3 door design. Its such an amazing idea. The velocter is cool. But i sure hope other cars use this formula in the future
Top respect man! Absolute best review I've seen on the Veloster! I'm about to get mine in a couple of weeks and can't wait to take it for a spin! Again thanks a lot for the awesome review!
Let's compare, for the automotive market, american x Brazilian reality. The Veloster here in Brazil costs around, Currency, U.S. $ 80,000.00 that the current conversion, the dollar would be worth $ 40,000.00 In addition to the market value, the engine that equipped Veloster come here in Brazil is only 126 hp. So friends, with $ 40,000.00 You can buy a better car the Veloster there in the USA?
Not a car person but with $40,000 USD, you could afford cars a lot nicer than the Veloster. Just by a quick search, a Mercedes-Benz C-Class goes for around $35,000, for reference.
I really enjoyed the featured video, Very informative and the hands on features was important to determine the actual size and capabilities of the Veloseter
No, it's not mate, America did not come up with the English language, England did and that's how they pronounce it. You Americans think you know everything.
It's funny how there's many interesting conversations about different topics that aren't actually related in the video at all on every saabkyle's vids.
Yes the Veloster is cool looking, performance packed very nicely designed, but what this fine person is trying to say Mr KNOW IT ALL (not really) is that this car isn't the right price. SIMPLY SAID.
I have a manual and after learning how to drive it properly, it is pretty fast i go up to 80mph in no time I need to time my 0-60 cause im pretty sure i did it in less than 7secs. turbo spools even in 1st gear when you step on the gas not even to the ground. acceleration is very quick. overall i love all the things about this car don't listen to negative people they don't know anything about this car. They just hate it because it's a Hyundai. I'm the first turbo around the city too a head turner
It's funny to watch this video now as I bought a 2013 VT DCT for $34,000 in 2012, added only stabilizer bars, front and rear LED V badges and I love it still. It's not a serious challenge to much on the road performance-wise but it is loads of fun to whip around cloverleaf interchanges and through city streets in manual-mode and in automatic-mode it is great on the highway too with the panoramic roof wide open. The styling is unique enough that in 2016, it still looks modern and fresh and I'm glad that Hyundai has not and will not be changing the design before the model ends. I've had absolutely zero service issues with it but I also have low mileage at only 21,000 km so far. It will be interesting to see how they fare long term in the used car market.
I have a 370 z trust me dont have to worry about affording one this car and feels lame. My friend bought one and hates it he traded it in for a genesis he said getting the veloster was a big mistake lol
clarence jarvis you;re the one bitching about it. and you wish you own an 370 z.. that's why you're here on youtube checking other cars out, since your 370 z is so good.. Dumb bitch
Excellent view. Best I've seen on the veloster turbo. Great details of motor, underside of vehicle and specs. Good job! I want one, once I sell my 2011 Frontier kingcab Pro4X.
driving feels is comfortable, cabin noise is a minimim. and you don't hear the engine growl so bad as other cars, it is silent, and you can hear the turbo as well, I got a lot of compliments about this car, a lot of people look at it. but internet trolls will always say this is ugly or anything negative. because they can't accept the fact it's a hyundai.
I've got an Elantra Touring (that's the US i30). It's a fantastic car. Tons of room, great MPG (average 32, with a heavy right foot), and pretty peppy (0-60 around 8). I've had it since 2009 and have not had a single problem with it.
Thank you man for your videos. You actually help me make up my mind about getting the turbo or the first version. I got the turbo with a matte pain. Thanks Saap
I 've just traded my 2011 civic 2.0 for a veloster!!! Believe me man I have no regrets. I loooooveee this car! I was skeptical initially but after driving my veloster for just day I fell in love with this car. Trust me man it is superb. Haha the japanese should start thinking now. They have been selling their brands rather than value for money stuffs for quite a long time.
please make a review of hyundai Santa fe or Tucson 2013! i am planning to buy it this year! i really like your videos, keep up the very good work! thanks.
You have obviously not visited any forum page. The Veloster is plagued with electronic and safety issues. I loved my Veloster..but it has been in the shop non stop since the day I bought it! I'm working on a Lemon Law just like hundreds out there.
Im stuck between the BRZ and this. odd couple, but the 3 doors actual backseat, better gas milage. give the BRZ a run for the money. I still havent test driven this car, and that will be hard to top compared to the BRZ. one of the smoothest driving and most responsive car ive ever been inside.
Always thought this was a pretty cool car. Good gas mileage and good power, hatchback? What's not to love?
Engineering Explained I love you 💕
The fact that its a HYUNDAI!
And then you stumble across Engineering Explained while looking at Veloster videos.

Thank you so very much for your feedback, it was exactly what I was looking for!
excellent review - very thorough look at the car
This is a really nice walkthrough, compared to most walkthroughs I seen in the past, you go into much greater detail and show a lot of what the vehicle has to offer
i like it. unique design. and the mileage is great.
Great review! Obviously incredible value in this car. One comment I would like to make is that I found the background music quite distracting during your commentary.
Overall still a great in-depth review. I am sold on this car.
I just started driving a while ago, looking for a first car, would this be a good option ?
Spyke4Life yes it is :D Go and test drive u will not regret man :D
Yes
I bought one 2 years ago…and I love it.
i wonder if I can make the welcoming sound as "waddup bitch"...I'd like that
JustAnotherViewer lol why tho ?😂
JustAnotherViewer I think I'd make my welcoming sound say "suh dude!"
Thankyou for making me fall inlove with this car even more. You are so helpful!
Great car for a great price!
Cheers
Who's still driving their 2013 Veloster turbo & looking at the ugly 2021s and happy they have a more modern looking car than the modern version?
I LOVE the idea of a very roomy cargo hatch with the 3 door design. Its such an amazing idea. The velocter is cool. But i sure hope other cars use this formula in the future
I saw 2 gangsta granny's in this car.
Sometimes, I really like these reviews of simple cars that no other person would review
What about if u were really mad and the welcome sound activated it would be funny
Hyundai did a amazing job with this car i love the 3 door design
for the start up sound in the car can u get your own music to be the sound when u turn the car on
+Michael frena damn really?
+Kupidzheart what do u mean I'm asking if u can download ur music and when u start it up like hello - Adele plays or whatever song u want

Top respect man! Absolute best review I've seen on the Veloster! I'm about to get mine in a couple of weeks and can't wait to take it for a spin! Again thanks a lot for the awesome review!
That start button is not children friendly hahaha
lol
Dude your doing a good job now, im 14 and i cant wait to get my first car and looking at the videos get me excited and impatient to get my license lol
so cool im buying one
+TEAMIMPORTKILLER Me too!!!!! The 2016 Rally edition!!
I've been waiting a long time for this review. Thanks Kyle.
I wouldn't mind having a mazdaspeed 3 but the warraqny is terrible id much rather have the veloster and have the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty
Great gas mileage, great value, great price! Great car for a car enthusiast on a budget!
Let's compare, for the automotive market, american x Brazilian reality. The Veloster here in Brazil costs around, Currency, U.S. $ 80,000.00 that the current conversion, the dollar would be worth $ 40,000.00
In addition to the market value, the engine that equipped Veloster come here in Brazil is only 126 hp.
The automotive import tax in Brazil must be huge! The turbo Veloster is roughly around $22,000- 25,000 in the U.S.
Americano nao gosta mto de Hyundai Mano, falam que o motor do carro é paia. Veloster è tipo o gol pra gente
Yeah if you get the fully loaded tech package with turbo here in Canada. It'll run you 35k before taxes.
I really enjoyed the featured video, Very informative and the hands on features was important to determine the actual size and capabilities of the Veloseter
It's Hi-un-dai not hundai.
It's 현대. 2 syllables. Pronounced hyun-dae(e must be silent)
Meaning modern or current
No, it's not mate, America did not come up with the English language, England did and that's how they pronounce it. You Americans think you know everything.
Damien Beckett I am Korean
hyundai is a Korean car
You Americans and English are pronouncing it wrong.
marvelv212 I know it is, but Americans say it weird.
***** No do you gator meat?
It's funny how there's many interesting conversations about different topics that aren't actually related in the video at all on every saabkyle's vids.
The car is good but the price is not right
I can use that money to buy a better sedan with the same power
sedans are gay though. this design is worth the money
Every time he revs a cold engine it makes me cringe so hard
Split Zenzy The video cuts. He lets it heat up first.
Ew, that horn...
yoyoluc it's cute wth up
Got to say it, to me your voice is pretty soothing. Like your videos, keep up the nice job :D
Wanna be poser sport car
why so angry can't afford one
I have a 370 z trust me dont have to worry about affording one this car and feels lame. My friend bought one and hates it he traded it in for a genesis he said getting the veloster was a big mistake lol
clarence jarvis there is something called value for the money
If u say so the car is ugly my opinion stop bicthing about it
clarence jarvis you;re the one bitching about it. and you wish you own an 370 z.. that's why you're here on youtube checking other cars out, since your 370 z is so good..
I don't know if its planned but there is always good music playing when you demo the radio lol. Keep up the good reviews ^.-
No other review I saw mentioned the eco button or the 115v AC outlet, good job covering everything
I respect you and all your work! I hope you will never stop doing this!
They have stepped their game up!
I've got an Elantra Touring (that's the US i30). It's a fantastic car. Tons of room, great MPG (average 32, with a heavy right foot), and pretty peppy (0-60 around 8). I've had it since 2009 and have not had a single problem with it.
your reviews are the best bro hands down you know your stuff to the teeth!
Just found this channel, read your story...nice work bud! I've enjoyed every video you've produced! Keep up the great work!
Loved the look of this car but really glad they brought out the Turbo model! keen to get it!
OMG I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG!
I'm about to win this car in a competition! Can't wait!
the exterior color looks great and sleek. That is real black.
You're reving it up while it's still cold !!
My parents had a hyundai sonata with dimension premium sound system and I loved the bass it had
I hate to admit it because the Hyundai name isn't taken as serious as other traditional brands, but this veloster is badass!!
I own a MS3, and trust me, It's bloody fun.
Their also pretty nice to see in person.
please make a review of hyundai Santa fe or Tucson 2013! i am planning to buy it this year! i really like your videos, keep up the very good work! thanks.
You have obviously not visited any forum page. The Veloster is plagued with electronic and safety issues. I loved my Veloster..but it has been in the shop non stop since the day I bought it! I'm working on a Lemon Law just like hundreds out there.
this was the video i was waiting for
Love your videos. It's cool to see that your subscribed to saabkyle, too.
