I don't know if you'll even read this but I hope so. I'm doing Keto and intermittent fasting after being dx with NAFLD, so i'm trying to get my liver healthy. Side benefit was I've so far lost 60 lbs. However, I'm finding this soooooo expensive and unfortunately I am on a very low and fixed income. My question is how can I eat Keto that's affordable and healthy?
@@MusicInMotion_67 I would focus on what’s most important and skip what you can’t afford. Make sure when you are spending the extra money for your health you get the most for your buck. Example- Buy Grass Fed Ground Beef 90% lean and maybe skip on getting pasture raised chicken breast. The reason? Beef has many more vitamins and nutrients then chicken does, it contains more fat (especially the ground beef) then the chicken breast and is therefore more important to buy grass Fed because all the toxins and bad stuff get stored into the animal’s fat. You want to try to spend the money on quality animals when they are high in fat but something like chicken breast that is very lean you can buy conventional. Ground beef is actually one of the cheapest cuts and it’s super good for you! Another good buy is to buy whole chickens pasture raised- about $13 a chicken. But you can use the bones to make bone broth and you get more for your money this way. A rule of thumb is the best prices come from the least amount of work the butcher has to do. Don’t stress about it though- do what you can afford. You can still eat healthy Keto without buying “perfect” meat.
This is helpful, thanks Thomas! What I got out of this: 1) Go for "no antibiotics ever," making sure the word "ever" is included. 2) "Fed vegetarian diet" doesn't mean anything. 3) "Grass finished" is more important and more worth paying extra for than "grass fed." Both is ideal, but hard to find in regular supermarkets. 4) Go for red meats with fat that has more of "ribboned" (aka clustered on one side) rather than marbled appearance, because this indicates a higher quality fat profile. 5) Bison tends to be a good choice because there are more strict standards to what they can be fed.
You know, Thomas's willingness to share his heart with strangers and tell his personal story even though some people try to shame him is one of the main reasons that pulled me into his channel. It takes a ton of courage to do that. If Thomas sees this, I just want to say thank you for that, keep living bravely, and enjoy your amazing car!!!

Same here. My Dad turned 91 on July 4th; I saw him that day, and the next. Talked to him at 10:30 A.M. on July 9th, he felt good, alert, said he'd call around 5 P.M. like usual. I get a call at 6:30 P.M. with his number on call display. I answer, "Hi Dad"; but a nurse from the home he was at answers and asks if I'm sitting down. As soon as she asked that I knew he had passed. He had a sudden heart attack while sitting in his wheelchair. We were very close. So yeah I know exactly where you, Thomas, & others are coming from. In regards to the video, interesting info on the fat content & style of meats. I do love & buy ribeye, & prime rib steaks at times, along with blade steak - very tender & juicy but much more economical than ribeye. Love lean ground beef, & a combo if lean ground beef + ground pork. Eating about 90% carnivore I like the flavour of the fat from the meat moreso than the flavour of added fats. Although I do use ghee, tallow, or coconut oil at times to cook leaner cuts of meat in. Will eat more chicken breast (whole & ground). Love lamb, pork loin, pork shoulder & ribs (But will reduce the frequency), LOVE bacon. Will check out pork belly. Thanks for the great video Thomas.

Thomas, so sorry to hear about your dad's passing from cancer. We all now know that a lot of that particular disease is nutritional related in many cases. Your current good work in keto IF info education should be taken by you as a tribute to your father. You are helping millions of people be the best version of themselves and saving lives.
Great sentimental story about your dad…thanks for sharing it Thomas. No matter where you go or what you drive your dad will always be riding shotgun in your life brother! Take care and best of luck for continued good health, happiness, and success.

I initially skipped over this video thinking I know what to look for when it comes to meat, but I’m glad I decided to go back and watch it. I definitely learned some new things thanks Thomas 👍🥩
Don’t apologize for your ride bro. The orange 🍊 Nova is sick! I love your story about your Dad, hit me right in muh feelz. Thank you for everything you do, and for being an inspiration to us bigger dudes to get healthy and live our best lives. I’m down over 40# since June. 🤘🏻

Everything you’re saying is so good for people to listen to. All the research I’ve been doing matched everything you’re saying. I appreciate all you’ve said.
I noticed the grass fed beef said 100% grass fed. I've learned that means the same thing as being grass fed & grass finished. If it doesn't say 100% grass fed it means it was likely finished with grains.
Wow he actually opens his eyes and reads what stuff is rather than needing to be lead by the hand to find something. I didn’t know people still did that! Great video.
I like butcher box buut. It is definitely not cheaper than the grocery store. It's the same, but I will say. It gives the security of grass fed grass finished. If you have friends who are willing to. Find a farm that has grass fed grass finished cattle and just buy the whole cow or steer. In the long run. It's the cheapest

Johanna Hobbs I had a 69Z. Put an electric fuel pump and a set of traction bars on it and ran a 13.2 1/4 mile best ever which was damn good for those days. Cost right at $4000 brand new in Fort Worth Texas. Like a moron I traded it in for a new Datsun 240 Z which at the time was the Vette killer. Wish I had them both back
I just lost my dad to a stoke a few months ago, his only health issue was high blood pressure. It just goes to show how fragile life is. His death really drove me into a dark place. I put on 30 lbs in 3 months, I was depressed and constantly felt tired and awful. Upon discovering your channel I decided to make some lifestlye changes. Started doing IF and Keto this week. I've lost 10 lbs in four days (Probably water if I have learned anything lol) Much less inflammation, and heart burn (which was a daily occurance.) I feel good, and I want to keep going.
I bought the Powered Smokeless indoor grill. The grill surface is suspended over the heating coils, but the grates have strategically grill pattered that allows the dripping to avoid the heating element! Also there is a pan of water and a fan that pulls any smoke that does occur. Best thing I ever purchased!!! The grill surface is engineered so thing you are cooling float!!!
Translation: At the grocery store, get the pork for the best quality/value in meat. Pork actually has a better profile and more potassium than beef anyway If you need steak/beef, buy it from an producer who sells only grass finished. like US Wellness/Butcher Box Bacon: No sugars, or less than 1 g, and no nitrates
I've got a summer house in the countryside and on the edge of my land there's a farmer who's fully organic, grass fed, grass finished. I buy directly from him. He's a great guy. His bulls are fantastic! I found your channel recently, you've got my sub for sticking to the science!
Thanks Thomas that’s been very helpful, I wonder if you could do a quick video on Eggs sometimes, there are so many labels these days trying to confuse us, FreeRun, Free Range, Organic, Grain Fed, Cage Eggs to name just s few, thanks Thomas 🙏

Thanks Thomas. This was such a treat. I’ve been in the business for years and never knew the content you shared about the beef and pork qualities. This makes a Hugh difference in the way to shop now instead of just grab and go thinking, “ ahh this has to be healthy and hearty 🤔 Thanks.🙏❤️🤙🏾

Wow so disappointing! I want to cry! I want butcher Box but 's very expensive and too much to order for every month! Wish Butcher Box had more flexible deals for low income people like me.... OMG I'm crying....
@@Scott_T point being it's expensive and ordering every two-weeks does not help, you're just buying less meat. The real answer here is to purchase the highest quality meat you can afford, eat mostly plants and less meat

My Dad, brother and sister in law were all killed in an auto accident 6 years ago this December. My Dad was a guitar man, we even put guitars on his headstone. I never learned to play but I have his favorite guitar in my music room and I pick it up and feel him with me. Those are tokens of our memories and they are pricelss! Enjoy your car! Thanks for your positive contributions to my journey. I have learned so much!!
How do these prices compare to what you're paying in your state? I'm also in California. I don't even buy chicken anymore. It's damn near the same price as it would cost for a 1lb ribeye. I'll take the ribeye every time.
If most of these stores would realize just how much foot traffic, buzz, and sales these types of videos actually generate they would be PAYING YOU to film there. Lost opportunities for them. Shout out to FlavCity and the job Bobby does in his hauls as well! Keep up the great job you guys are doing keeping us informed 👍🏼

I am so sad that you "have to justify" your car or anything else! People! When you are 100% perfect, then and only then can you honestly question someone else!!!
My local Jewel/Osco (Albertsons) has very few options as well. I've been buying my Grass Fed/Grass finished Ground Beef at Aldis due to the price. This is helpful, thanks Thomas! What I got out of this:
1) Go for "no antibiotics ever," making sure the word "ever" is included.
All cattle is grass fed until the last 3 months or so. Grain finished/or fully grass fed/grass finished are the more correct terms.
#4 only applies to pork

Hi sheryl my husband has cancer now. We mourne with you sister.
Pork actually has a better profile and more potassium than beef anyway
If you need steak/beef, buy it from an producer who sells only grass finished. like US Wellness/Butcher Box
Bacon: No sugars, or less than 1 g, and no nitrates
Yuck stop eating the trash man!!!👿👿👿👿
Nova/Chevelle SS are my fav cars from that era. Nice story about ur dad & the car, lost mine a yearish ago and its nice to have a reminder of them.
Dude, watched the entire video. About to be out on my own, thanks for these useful tips.
Thomas your GENUINE SPIRIT SHINES. Thank you for your help. I have followed you for 6 months now and am improving my health. 🙇♀️
Thomas, please do a Thanksgiving and Christmas styled video!!!
lou milano I heave the thumbs up, but maybe we don’t want to know, it’s one day to enjoy each year and maybe focus on the rest of the year eating healthier. Besides are there at of your family going to eat Super healthy. Mine might.
I had a 73 nova SS and it was some of the best memories with my dad, brother.... so many
Maybe do a video on seasonings, spices, and oils? I’m sure you would have a lot of input on those things.
I love your shopping videos - I always learn good information. I wish you would do some cooking after the hauls so we could start building some good recipes.
5:40 Looking forward to that future gross-out video.😋
Thanks Thomas. This was such a treat. I’ve been in the business for years and never knew the content you shared about the beef and pork qualities. This makes a Hugh difference in the way to shop now instead of just grab and go thinking, “ ahh this has to be healthy and hearty 🤔
Thanks.🙏❤️🤙🏾
Can you do a video on how microwaving food affects the nutritional value? When I am at work I only have access to a microwave when warming up my food
Basically, it doesn't.
A microwave just rubs water molecules against each other to heat up
It doesn't. It just heats your food with radio waves.
My mom just passed from Cancer as well.. 4/22/20😢 My condolences.. Thank you for sharing..♥️♥️♥️
There’s nobody better, brother. #ForwardThinking
Man, I live your videos!!! I've researched things that you say, and you are always 100% correct. I use your videos to help me on my fat2fit journey, and it works!! Can't thank you enough!!
Thank you for the info in regards to bacon. I've been purchasing the uncured nitrate/nitrite free bacon from Trader Joe's. Looking forward to your collab with Bobby Parrish.
Sorry to hear about your paps I’m sure he’s happy of the person you become and loves the fact that you got the SS Nova back 🙏❤️
Could you do the oil department? I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
Love your muscle car. My dad had a Valiant Regal 770 with a black vinyl roof and ochre paintwork.
You are Dr.Berg are synced! i actually like this
I just said this this morning! 😂👌🏻
Dr. Berg copies Thomas’ videos. Been doing this for years! That’s okay, but Thomas and his team does all of the research! 🤓
@@kayeszymanski6945 proof?
@@thakraken6995 Just look at the dates certain videos post. Thomas does a video on Vitamin D and next day, Dr. Berg drops one on same topic. That's just an example.
@@kayeszymanski6945 so no actual evidence? Just speculation?
wow great film and enjoyed the ride in the car and the story of your dad makes the human connection thank you
why apologize for driving a beauty car. I want one too! Sweet memory of your Dad
Beautiful car and your Pops lives on as you enjoy the memories and care.
I didn’t know they were feeding them grass pellets, what next!
Same, that took me by surprise!
And dried distiller grains
Nadia Victoria ignorant comment
@@smokepcpheilwotan5874 you beat me to it. Thank you.
Not only was this video very helpful, it was also nice to see you are a fellow car guy!
We totally have to get that video about organ meats out
Love your videos. Thank you .I have really learned a lot. I am 62 and trying to eat better. Also Great car ! I grew up in the 70s. There is nothing like crusing around in a mucles car. In my day a lot of the cars were jacked up and had a Hurst shifter. Love the sound of them. They sound tough. A few of my friends has glass packs on them. We got pulled over a lot lol... But darn our cars sounded good. 😁🤣😂🤣
Wow so disappointing! I want to cry! I want butcher Box but 's very expensive and too much to order for every month! Wish Butcher Box had more flexible deals for low income people like me.... OMG I'm crying....
You can have it delivered every 8 weeks instead of every month.
@@Scott_T point being it's expensive and ordering every two-weeks does not help, you're just buying less meat. The real answer here is to purchase the highest quality meat you can afford, eat mostly plants and less meat
Pusssy
walmart supercenters carry grass fed and finished beef for only $5,50 to $6 bucks a pound 85% to 90% lean or target supecnbter to or grocery outlet i agree butcher box is outrageous prices
@@stephE80 Eating mostly plants is definitely not the answer
My Dad, brother and sister in law were all killed in an auto accident 6 years ago this December. My Dad was a guitar man, we even put guitars on his headstone. I never learned to play but I have his favorite guitar in my music room and I pick it up and feel him with me. Those are tokens of our memories and they are pricelss! Enjoy your car! Thanks for your positive contributions to my journey. I have learned so much!!
I'll never look at meat the same🤣👍thank you for this I learned alot.🤗 this info will def help me shop better.
You’re welcome, happy it helped. Thanks for watching!
Great video! Keep on educating us about our food!
Imagine the disappointment when I realized the title wasn't referring to dating advice. :-) Seriously, though, as always, very helpful and educational.
I put the lid on the rice cooker a little too tight if you
Know what I mean.😏
Nothing wrong with being a muscle car owner. Nothing wrong in remembering your fathers legacy however you want. Vids are great travel well enjoy time with family. Aussie Jeff
Why eat oil when you can eat real food? No oils; i use avocado, ghee, whole milk yogurt, cheese, and of course bacon, steaks, and fish.
Love the back story about your car and your father. That is truly a wonderful way to remember him!
You're looking a lot like Dean Winchester from Supernatural, next time call me for the ride brother & let's hunt down some bad food for the family bussiness! ✌
😄🗡️🥧🍟🍔
Which one of you would be "Moose", and who would be "Squirrel", and
who would drive the '67 Impala "Baby"?
No, I thought he looks more like Thomas Delauer. 🤷♂️ just my opinion tho.
I want to be his Crowley, always offering him some bad carbs to help him out in emergency situations. He'll know that working with me will kick him out of ketosis but sometimes he doesn't have a choice.
Dr. Berg is Moose.
I am your number one fan you rock i had to leave you a message from my heart on sharing your story about your dad melt my heart lose my sister back in 2013 so i know how it feels to lose a special and dear person close to your heart Thanks for sharing
I work in a grocery store 🙋🏼👍🏻
SS Nova - The Muscle Car Lives! Thanks for the great info in the video too. Never knew about the turkey vs. chicken issues.
I love lamb.
What an amazing story about you and your dad!
that car is sweet
Thanks!
I absolutely love this video! Just the other day I was watching the grocery haul collab video and I was truly wondering how to choose meats properly. I really want to learn the right way
Thanks for your videos!!!❤️❤️❤️
To hell with the groceries. Give us the scoop on your Nova. I graduated high school 1973. What kind of goodies have you got on there keto can wait
I love your nova... sounds like supercharged awesomeness. My dad has a 1962 Corvette he's had since he was 17, he's almost 71.
i love ground sausage, Italian sausage is my favorite is this horrible to eat
Make your own so you add good fat. Store bought is 30% or more of that bad fat.
Esther McGough
Read the ingredients! It may be fine it may be horrible
Sweet love you can eat my sweet tasty thick hearty sausage anytime !!!!!😘😘😘😘😘😘😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝 and its fully plump and 12inches!!!!!!! Teaming with truly heavy juices!!!!!!!
Curtis Santos This is horrible. 🤣🤣🤣
Thomas you have a great outlook! We would love to get you and others on to the option of buying straight from farmers and ranchers. It's the best way to ensure that what your buying is what you thought it was. Labels are so misleading. Please let us know what we can do to help! Keep truckin friend, and thanks for getting the facts out to everyone about meat.
I am so sad that you "have to justify" your car or anything else!
People! When you are 100% perfect, then and only then can you honestly question someone else!!!
Agreed!
@@ThomasDeLauerOfficial 💖
I'm glad to see that you guys are Chevy guys
My local Jewel/Osco (Albertsons) has very few options as well. I've been buying my Grass Fed/Grass finished Ground Beef at Aldis due to the price. This is valuable information for anyone wanting to make informed decisions. Thanks! BTW, I do LCHP because I'm a T1 diabetic and have been following this lifestyle for 17 months. My last HbA1c was 5.0 It works!!
Sorry for your loss. ❤️
My dad walked out on my family in 2014. Haven’t seen him since. I miss him a lot though. He’s my dad.
I would be interested in your perspective on canned or jarred vegetables. I generally buy frozen or fresh produce, but I'd be curious as to what you find to be good/bad options.
I appreciate you sharing your story about your dad and the Nova. I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my dad back in 2016 and it's important to be able to remember them in a way that's special to you. The Nova is a pretty great way to remember yours.
74 nova and 70 chevelle here. Great way to shop!!! Love it!!
it was my first day at the gym earlier.. i was shook at how hungry i was for the rest of the day. i found your vid so i can better prepare myself next time. subbed~
You should be on the food channel and this stuff should be taught in school. You are fantastic. I would love to spend a day walking around a store with you. Also, do not apologize for driving the nova. I have similar memories with my dad. You owe no one an apology and enjoy that car.
