  • Day 1 of using anamorphic lenses, pushing myself towards filmmaking. So many choices to make in just one single frame. I wasn’t sure I was going to keep these @blazarlens.official Remus lenses but after @allygschmidt jumped in to go on a mini adventure and shoot some test shots, I really started to like these. Main two things I’ve learned so far is that you need frames full of detail so the anamorphic characteristics can blur and swirl over them, making something beautiful. The other thing is, you need to take your time to find the shot with anamorphic lenses. With spherical lenses it’s much easier to point and shoot because the symmetrical bokeh of the background will be interesting with most every background. The background moves different on an anamorphic lens as well due to the curvature of the lens elements which requires a more specific background and movement. All in all, more planning, more specificity and I’m hyped about it. Fun to get some visuals that I think are really cool right out of the gate. Also super important to have stabilization. My buddy Micah made the point that anamorphic lenses are usually used as a hyperrealistic visual and camera shake is often used to make things more down to earth and cause the audience to feel like they are there. Anamorphic is kinda the opposite in some ways.

Oh man I just saw the c70 at the end! I've been wondering what these would look like paired with that. Which PL adapter are you using there? These shots are so great man

Yeah 1.5x squeeze has worked well so far with the super35 sensor. Really love the image so far! I got the Sirui PL to RF adapter because I knew the Remus set was smaller and weighed less so I wasn’t concerned play or stressing the mount. Which it might be great for heavier lenses, it’s just a cheap adapter, so if I had bigger or heavier lenses I might go with one of the more intense adapters. Hope this helps!

@@themjstory Yes that helps a ton! do you use an external monitor for the 1.5 desqueeze?

@@sentergus Awesome! I have a desqueeze of 1.33x and 1.8x on the C70 so I was just using the 1.33x cause it's pretty close. Eventually I'll get something more exact.
