    After watching Paul keres series I have realised that watching games of players like Tal can make your day, but watching Keres games can improve your chess....
    Thanks Mato for Keres series, probably one of the most underrated player in chess history

      Keres' moniker was "Paul the Second". Does this refer to SECOND "Paul" to Paul Morphy? Or always second to several World Champions? Perhaps both! Was perhaps the Greatest of whom were never World Champ

    Damn Nadjorf was embarrassed in his own variation, awesome! Mato, thanks to you, In 3 months my rating has gone from 800 to 1200. It's all due to your videos, thanks a lot. And I wish I could afford to pay for coaching from your school, but I'm striving to improve every single day and one day, I'll become a Grandmaster.

      Hey Andor, I vary in strength and most recently Im around 1700+. First thing you need to do is cut back on blitz games. Second, figure out what type of player you are. I like tactical games so I look for openings that lead to more complex variations.
      Lastly, you have to work on your endgame. Most games are won in the endgame due to errors at the beginner and intermediate levels. Dereque kelley has good videos on chess openings. Chess Club and Scholastic of Saint Louis on youtube also has great tutorials but mainly on strategy.
      Try to play 15+ minute games so you have time to dive into positions and better understand them. 30 minute games per side would be ideal. Blitz is mainly about applying memorized positions or patterns. Improve your classical timed games and your blitz will go up as well.

    I think three Argentinian Masters played g5!? in that Tournament against three Soviet Masters, and all were defeated in the same novelty.
    Najdorf lost to Keres, and Panno and Pilnik lost to other two Soviet players.
    *_I would appreciate if you could share your comments on those games, too._*

    Nice game. Najdorf was 45 at this tournament, Keres 39. In classical games Miguel Najdorf tied Paul Keres 2 to 2, with 11 draws.
    This was from Gothenburg Interzonal. Keres placed second behind David Bronstein. Najdorf ended up 12th of all 20 contestants amongst who were many well know super grandmasters.
    And where IS Gothenburg? I don't think it's in Sweeden, do you?

  • @totu376
    @totu376 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like how easily Keres pranced into Najdorf's kingside and demolished it like it was nothing, hunted the king down like a panther chases its prey and won with a brilliant knight sacrifice (didnt even get captured).

    @joaogavanski1431 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @crosbonit
    @crosbonit 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The moves:
    Kt-e6 @2:45
    B-b5 @3:24
    underscore the thing that keeps me from being any better at chess.
    Those moves were clearly made on faith and hopes that things would work out, and not a clear and obvious path to victory.
    Whenever I play chess, I have a hard time sacrificing without a clearly foreseeable mat'l gain or checkmate resulting from the action.

      @pneumatic00 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Keres perhaps the most underrated player ever. Always phenomenally dangerous. This was a fantastic game. One thing I have always found about Keres is that studying his games, you learn very subtle things that you don't necessarily learn from studying other classic games. Mostly surprise moves that he just pulls out of the air. You don't see them...and then blammo.

    from my experience I've noted that e6-f8 pawns in the sicilian are very weak until black does not castle, so usualy they become white's attack target. Because of that I don't feel confortable in this opening. If black king isn't enough quick he will be stack in the center...

    I read that this game was played in a match between USSR and Argentine and black's g5 move was a secret weapon that the Argentinian players relied on and they played against Keres (Najdorf), Spassky (I don't remember the opponent), and Geller (I am not sure). All the three Argentinian players were defeated and the secret weapon become history.
