    *UPDATE!* The latest patch for this aircraft has now fixed the issue with the HSI glideslope indication! (All the other problems I noted in the video are still present though as far as I can tell). Good to see they're continuing to improve things though.

    The PA-44 is still used for twin training here in indiana. My college still uses two of them regardless of the actual ability to fly around icing.

      Yeah I believe they’re a lot more popular in the states than they are over here in the U.K.

    Nice review!
    Just a heads-up, Carenado includes documentation .PDF files in the plane folders. Inside your MSFS installation path, on the OFFICIAL folder, you can find Carenado plane's Documentation folder with the files.

    Great job - Love to see an honest and thorough review like this (made even better with your humour thrown in)!

    I got my comm multi in a Seminole, Weight & Balance in this bird was always a bitch... we would literally have to keep an 80-120lb weight in the baggage department to stay within limits.
    Full fuel would bring it out of the envelope too, we’d have to send one guy up to burn off enough fuel for 2 pilots to do their training flight if someone accidentally topped it off after their flight. Not my favorite twin, but hey it’s what I trained in, so I have some love for her.

    Got this and the Mooney in the sale. Especially in VR I'm quite happy with them. One more thing you "crash" if you open the little window even at low speed.

    One can even see the engine and some pipes and piston areas inside the cooling air inlet - this is pure Carenado quality with zero compromise (other planes show just a black flat texture or other cheap short-cuts on the 3D model instead of offering such wonderful technical details.). The Seneca and Seminole are almost perfect and look absolute gorgeous, but what I don´t like is the need of strong right rudder when starting the Seneca. Maybe Carenado will patch this some day to be able to start Seneca like a jet without annoying right ruder necessary while accelerating. :) By the way these ampere-meters are functional and simulated, at 46:16 in your video you can see the gauge going up and showing rising ampere load onto the generators after switching on pitot heat and landings lights and other more power-hungry electric systems in the plane.
    In my Carenado Seneca I bought yesterday and in Carenado M20 Ovation the change in manifold pressure is also simulated in the meantime, I have noticed that a fully change in prop RPM changes manifold pressure between 0,8 to 2 HG an various piston planes (only the huge PMDG Cloudmaster Double-Waps engines have a way higher rise of MAP), the Seneca changes 1 HG manifold pressure and the Ovation changes ~1,8 HG manifold pressure when minimizing prop rpm.

      They’re beautifully modelled that’s for sure. The flight dynamics on this one I wasn’t a fan of, but the Seneca is one of my favourite MSFS aircraft.

    Great review. 41:36 and 42:05 ,there is a very small increase in manifold pressure in each case.

    • @FlyFromHome

      Good spot! In real life the MAP needles would be moving at least a couple of inches of indication during the prop exercise though, so still room for improvement!

    Thank you for your honest review. As I been looking at buying this or the Mooney. I might wait for the sales again. As over Christmas this aircraft was on £14 to buy. Maybe MS will have another Sale at Easter or durung any of the American holidays.

    I got my many-motor rating in the ancient Aztec, which fairly bristled with levers-six of them as I recall. It also had the gasoline heater, but I was never completely enamored of the idea of staying warm by building a fire in the airplane. Better to just bundle up.

    Interestingly, at 41:33 there actually is the tiniest increase in manifold pressure. So I guess they modelled it/something, it's just almost too small to notice. No idea what magnitude of change would be realistic in real life, however!

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it’s anything like the Arrow 1 (whose engine this plane uses) it should be at least a couple of inches of manifold pressure difference as you cycle the props. Hopefully it’s something they’ll add as I doubt it would be hard to model 😁

      @@FlyFromHome Indeed... Great review by the way! I'm quite keenly waiting for Just Flight's Arrow III for MSFS, as I am quite in the mood for an older steam gauge plane that is a bit beyond the defaults, but get the feeling like this first batch of 3rd party add-ons have not quite been up to standards (having no real world flight experience, I'd prefer it if the add-on was said to behave close to real life, without me having to second guess it).

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I’ll certainly be reviewing Just Flight’s Arrow when it comes out - I had it for P3D and it was great in there!

    Great video. Love hearing someone who is A) Very knowledgeable about aircraft B) clearly used to going through checklists. Being a fellow honeycomb bravo user, how do you deal with cdi, bug heading jumping in increments of 10 ? keep up the good work in providing such comprehensive reviews. 👍

    • @evidenceplz
      @evidenceplz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't have the HC Bravo but have the Alpha and have the same issue. The workaround atm is to remove all keybindings from the base panel and use your mouse to operate them in the sim.

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most planes I can still scroll round in increments of one by clicking the knob repeatedly... not ideal but it works! This one doesn’t seem to work with that, so I’ve just been struggling with it. Fingers crossed for a fix soon!

      @@evidenceplz Meant alpha....the bravo in patiently sitting in my order list😂 Wasn’t sure if it was still a bug or I was doing something wrong . I will keep the rocker switches unbound until further notice. 😁

      @@FlyFromHome which knob exactly are you hitting repeatedly? can you please elaborate. thanks.

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The heading bug or CDI knob. Single clicks usually works to scroll it one at a time.

    Well its not really study level is it. Even so, I still think it was worth purchasing. I haven't flown the Seminole in real life, but some things that are common in most all piston engine aircraft are missing, and you tend to notice them straight away. As you pointed out there is no change in RPM and engine sound during mixture changes. I can overlook some of the small things like that, but the stall characteristics just seem a bit too unrealistic. Even for someone who's never flown this aircraft. Its still enjoyable to fly in the sim though, hopefully they'll continue working things out. Great review!

    Just like the review for the Just Flight Arrow III this is a superb review. Thankyou.
    Definitely not the best place to locate an external power source!
    I'm sure that at some time - sooner rather than later I hope, someone will put together a good payware version of the Beechcraft Duke B60 just like the Realair Simulations one.

    Thanks for a great video. I wonder how you think the Honeycomb yoke roll and pitch forces feel compared to what you would expect

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Generally I’d say real aircraft controls are much heavier than any desktop simulator device can replicate (in flight at least). Plus there’s the fact that the weight and sensitivity changes in real life depending on things like airspeed and throttle setting. However, the Honeycomb gets by far the closest out of any sim device I’ve tried short of full motion level D simulators, so it gets a big thumbs up from me 👍🏻

    Not all the buttons work as expected, plus external lights are shitty as hell, no fix added for them still today. I think I'm going for a refund.

    • @FlyFromHome
      @FlyFromHome  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure about the lights but the last MSFS patch might have screwed up the switches. I was flying the Seneca the other day and there were some odd glitches in there.
