This channel was created by a group of passionate real life aviators with a love of simulators and gaming. We aim to help you understand any forms of fixed wing aviation better or to pick up flight training basics. The videos we provide are either for demonstration purposes, or even (by qualified flight instructors) to allow some level of learning or teaching relevant to your real life experience. We're also here to review new products (especially MSFS but also X-Plane content) and to give a real life, in-depth viewpoint on whether they're worth picking up!
With help from myself, Jimbo (737 FO, former Q400 Captain and former instructor) Kittykami (737 FO and instructor) and others, we aim to produce a wide range of real life fixed wing procedures and understanding from light aircraft to airliners.

Hello sir, how to get wings views ? i can just set inside cokpit views
As someone else said, always great fun and interesting to see how the pros do it! You should really give the iFly MAX8 in MSFS2020 a go 👍
Thank you! I’d like to give it a try but it’s quite an expensive add on to buy for the sake of a short handing test.
I thought you guys were well paid 😉 Besides, once you try it out, maybe you'll use it more than just for a quick handling test. Plus you'll get a free update once it's released for MSFS2024 as I understand it 👍
What does it mean, if u get paid good u can spend all of your money in nonsense? It's called being responsable about your money..
Wow...
I can’t change the transponder code in this one.
Yep, neither can I!
I love this video. Tnx
Glad you enjoyed it!
Have you tried to taxi the 172? Feels like steering a boat on mud, I wouldn’t consider that realistic 😂 Great video btw!
Yeah I’m slowly making my way though checking all of the light aircraft and I think the ‘ported over’ ones from FS2020 are all pretty poor, on the ground and in the air. The Pipistrel is almost unflyable 🤣 I’ll put a video together about this soon.
That yaw-roll couple is a little disturbing from a core flight engine point of view, the couple is a function of aerodynamics & other than setting up a swept wing nothing special should really have to be done. Possibly they haven't set the wing up right, I guess - supposedly 2024 lets you define wings in multiple segments - but I'm a bit worried it's proper smoke & mirrors rather than a decent attempt :S ( obviously a sim is smoke & mirrors anyway, but there's an attempt at properly integrated basics and then there's dressing up pigs :p ). This does look a bit tiresome, is the best way to put it I think. Now this is Fly 737 From Home you're gonna have to try that iFly thing.
Given how shoddy the systems on this thing are I wouldn’t put it past them to have set up the flight model wrong, so I’m still hopeful that a good third party will be able to get it working properly. I guess only time will tell 😬 The iFly is extremely expensive for just a 30 minute test flight - I’ll see if they put it on discount at some point…
If I were fiddling with it I'd be trying to insert the original MCAS, lol. They still haven't documented bits of the 2020 API, someone's gonna have to be really dedicated to work on this thing. No freight MAX yet, so I'm not interested in the iFly either.
Good stuff. It's always interesting to see how real-world ATPs handle stuff in FS. More of this is good (as is GA)!
Thanks! I’ll come up with some more stuff to showcase soon.
hello but it is hard to land can not autoland ,is it able to list out the steps ,thx
Auto land should just be to engage both autopilots while established on the localiser and glide before 800ft AGL. I wouldn’t trust this autopilot with that kind of operation though, it seems very buggy!
Good to see you again.
👋🏻
I don't quite get why you say the ground handling is improved, as on your take off run you are not keeping straight and your rotate was also extremely quick. As you are a first officer I find it hard to believe you would over control so much, so either your FS2024 settings are out or this aircraft is far too twitchy. As to graphics, the PFD looks washed out and the colours look wrong, and the outside scenery/clouds are over bright. I can't see this is an improvement over FS2020.
Same here. Compared to the handling on the Zibo 737, this is trash.
@@davidtsw hard to compare a stock plane vs a stock plane with years of modding behind it lol
@@ishiddddd4783 true, but the thing is none of the default/modded/payware aircraft in msfs 2020 or 2024 fly and taxi as realistically as the Zibo 737 in xp12. "As good as the simulation allows".
@@davidtsw huge disagree, regardless tho, the asobo max is trash in any case
The ground handling *is* improved over default 2020 stuff, but that's a really low bar :p that plane looks twitchier than the default 2024 C172, which looked a lot better when I was watching Kitty fly it ( and had some really nice turbulence handling ). Stock Asobo stuff is rubbish, no surprise there. There is potential to do a lot better even in the 2020 engine & they absolutely don't use it :p
I like your voice so 1 more subscriber here😂
Haha thank you!
interesting flight, any idea how the ifly max flies in fs2020?
the ifly is one of the most respected aircraft in the sim, up there with Fenix & PMDG. And absolutely better than this stock aircraft...not to crap on it, it is great but sims can go way deeper nowadays.
I hear it’s very good - I’d test it out but it’s quite expensive considering the amount of use I’d probably give it!
I like trains xx
Hey mate. I’ve got my Initial IRT coming up and honestly this has helped me so much. You should consider doing bite size clips to help those coming through. The video shows how helpful a sim can be for this type of training. Thanks!
Really pleased to hear that! Good look with your test.
It's been a while, and I've rewatched this series to refresh. I know this is an older video, but I'm hoping you'll see this and help me out! There are two questions I've got for you guys. The first one being, when you are getting your vspeeds, and your weight is between two published sets of numbers. Something like, (random numbers) 57,000 lbs, and the next weight listed is 59,000 lbs. Your weight is 58,200. Do you round up, for the vspeeds, or do you round down? The second question is wind additive. What is the rule? Something like, half the steady state up to __, and full gust up to __? These aren't issues I've seen discussed regarding the dash 8. I super appreciate any guidance you could give. Again, thanks for a great video series!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed this one, we had a lot of fun making it back in the day. You always use the higher weight figure when rounding, even if you’re only one lb (or kg) over! Speed additives depend on individual airline ops, my one uses half the steady wind and all of the gust factor with a minimum of 5kts.
what a good idea, show us around the cockpit in the dark
Excellent very thorough review. Love this aircraft - with its excellent visability and high speed it's great for long distance scenic flights.
Yep, it’s great fun in the sim 👍🏻
What checklist are you using ?
My own company ones 👍🏻
One of the reasons you channel is brilliant is your comment about the rudder inputs and how they differ with the heavy stuff to lighter props and how a turbojet aircraft won't slow down as fast because of less drag than a prop. That sort of content is priceless. Another apparently popular content creator was saying how absolutely magnificent the iFly Max was because the cabin is very well modelled, and I really don’t care how well the cabin is modelled! It's comments about the thrust-pitch couple etc that make your channel the best!
Thanks, really glad to hear you enjoy my rambling about aircraft handling - I’m really passionate about manual flying in real life and I always try to test this stuff in the sim.
I've been having trouble updating the plane. I bought it off of the marketplace but I can't install the update, ops center says it'll update via msfs and that it's pending but in the content manager it doesn't say there's an update, can you tell me what to do?
I’m not sure, sorry! I installed mine through the PMDG ops centre. Maybe try on the PMDG forums or raise a support ticket with them?
Great vid! Can't wait to get back to sim and try this out. I flew and owned a 2014 M500 for several years and this looks quite close. The noise in particular, missing a bit airnoise when the speed get up. I do notice one Big thing I hope they upgrade: when you pull back to idle in air it is like slamming the brakes on a car 😅 The prop work as an big airbrake, not like this. On the real aircraft you have to have a little torque to simulate feather on glide appr. Hope they fix the torque trim while you climb as well, as you have to constant add more in a climb🙏. Landing lights are on the nose wheel, the taxi lights are the wings (they mixed that up). Also there are standby instruments on the left side pilot pfd. Great video!!
Thanks for the great info! The M500 does seem like a great aircraft, I bet that was a lot of fun.
Thanks for the video 😊
You’re welcome ☺️
hello. which airport textures add-on do you have? I have REX add-ons and can not get this nice realistic worn out looking that that runway has.
It’s just the add on East Midlands (EGNX) scenery by Pyreegue, available through the MSFS marketplace.
@@FlyFromHome thanks
More 737 vids please, thanks for a great showcase video!
Thank you! We’re gonna make more of these for sure.
I swear the speed trim only trims up, is that realistic?
Should go both ways depending on if you’re pushing or pulling the yoke.
ground effect at 120 ft? Hmmm
It’s not ground effect, it’s more like rising air coming from the ground and a reduction of wind speed causing a higher ground speed and therefore a higher required rate of descent. I’ve felt it many times in the real plane and I’m assuming we get the same type of thing in the sim too!
PMDG is looking into this pitching moment at 100 feet, due to the changes in "ground effect". It's posted on their forum. You can find it if you go on their forum titled "strange elevator behavior on landing with latest update"
I didn’t actually notice anything strange on this flight, maybe some more testing is in order 🤔
Thanks. Yes please keep making these videos - lots of us here love the big jets. It’s only in the last year or so though that I feel that passenger jets have really started to become immersive in MSFS. But it’s great to hear that from a real pilot re the latest PMDG update . I’m no expert for sure, but I really felt the positive improvements on the last flight I took compared to pre update.
Given how popular this video has been I’ll be sure to make another looking at this update in more depth 😊
I thought that the takeoffs roll was very quick up to V1, considering your weight, realistic!??
I’m not sure honestly, didn’t seem too bad to me! We were at a fairly moderate weight because the cargo deck was empty, just the 12 or so tonnes of fuel on board.
737 are quiet punchy!
They’re surprisingly quick! Most Boeings have a lot more thrust than they strictly ‘need’, it’s just the design philosophy of the company.
Will you be taking a look at MSFS2024 when it releases? 😄
Absolutely!
Wow, didn't find your channel before but very much looking forward to check out your content including this review of the PMDG update after reading the description of the channel 🙂Did you already try out the new iFly B38M? Would be very interesting to hear how you think they compare 👍
Thank you for checking us out! I’ve heard some good things about that MAX but having never flown one in real life I don’t feel that I’d be able to give a definitive assessment of it. I’ll give it a try if enough people ask for it I guess!
I'm sure you would be able to give a better assessment than most of us in here 🙂 Also, as I understand it the MAX is meant to be very close to the NG to make it easy to transfer to the MAX from the NG and without having to worry about type ratings 👍
Excellent video thank you. Yes I would like to see more please. Your explanation is clear and consistent.
Thank you!
You rotated to fast! And you should need about 50% input to rotate, and then a little more during "dead band", and then the plane should slowly rotate, 4-7 seconds to get to pitch up!
Boeing’s advice says 3 degrees per second, so five seconds to get to 15 with a constant rate of rotation.
@@FlyFromHome Wouldn't take any advice from somebody who doesn't know the difference between to and too
Oh man, the BEE landing 🥺 Trolled by JustFlight 😅
🥲
Excellent video thank you. Was the QNH actually 1013?
It was! Thanks for watching 😊
"Oh, that's nice... that's very nice". Were you reviewing the update or your landing there? 😄 Re: the greater roll effect from rudder input in jets vs turboprops, I assume that's due to the gyroscopic inertia of spinning propellers. Does that mean that there's a noticable reduction in roll in the NG (or modern airliners generally) over the classic, with the diameter of turbines getting ever bigger?
Ha! I suppose it wasn’t too bad of a landing was it… It’s actually to do with the swept back wings above anything else. Jets exist with straight wings that don’t exhibit that extreme rolling property.
Odd question, but I have played about 900 hrs in MSFS and god knows how much in MFSX. I love both A2A's commanche and COWS DA42, I know what most of the knobs and switches do 😂 But as a real life pilot if somebody like me was put in say a Commanche and told "right, have at it" how do you think we'd do? 😊 I should add that I use Honeycomb's yoke and Throttle setup, but use a Joystick for the DA42. (LOVE the DA42 btw!)
I’ve flown with a few simmers in my time as an instructor and they tend to do pretty well. The biggest shock I think you’d have is the weight of the controls in a real aircraft, and having to do things like maintain a good lookout!
@@FlyFromHomeIntetesting! Thanks! I’ve often wondered how real controls feel and how a GA feels in general. I hope to fix that one day soon with a flight with my local flying school in Liverpool. Definitely top of my bucket list!
Weather radar not working?
It works, just the gain wasn’t turned up high enough to pick anything up I guess. You’d only get returns from heavier precipitation than the clouds I flew through here.
In fairness, even when it’s working, it doesn’t work properly due to no access to usable weather data in sim. I was surprised to see PMDG cave and add the default radar when they clearly didn’t want to but users have made it clear they’d rather have an inaccurate implementation than none at all.
@@Danimalpm1 Yes I know. Same for me. ;-)
good to see 737 content cheers
Terrible takeoff guidance from the FD. Why does it ask for more than 15 degrees nose up? Shouldn't it command V2 + 20?
Yep you’re right, should be commanding MCP selected speed + 20kts at that point of the departure.
Veracity on takeoff in the 737 you cannot exceed 20 degrees but 15 degrees is no problem and it’s usual to pitch above 15
I don't think it's so strange. In a light weight takeoff with plenty of power, the FD could easily direct more than 20 degrees nose up if keeping the V2+15 or V2+20 speed was the only priority. I've heard that some airlines therefore train pilots to go max 20 degrees pitch up on takeoff and ignore the FD if it commands any higher pitch.
Thank you for the video. Any chance you can do a video explaining how to use the WX radar?
I’ll probably do another video covering the other bits of the update including the WX radar soon 😊
You get a like for the Airwolf outro all on it's own LOL - Good video, thanks for sharing.
… nice … thank you … it’s good to see big jets reviewed by real type rated pilots as well as the GA aircraft … we are all of us learning and it’s great fun plus I’m sure the developers take a peak from time to time and your comments can feed back to help improve the sim even more so👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
awesome , i'd like to be like you one day xd
Very flattered, but you shouldn’t set your life goals so low 😂
