    Why didn’t you use two nuts and a wrench instead of a vice grips and an impact drill on the tool. Turning a wrench that much is painfully boring.

      Because another fellow said and showed how the Threaded Rod turned into a torsion bar no longer doing it’s job. I was not at all concerned about being bored-much more concerned about applying maximum mechanical energy with no loss of power or any safety violations.

    And probably some German work forgot the damper. That’s no surprise. German older cars we’re well built but not everyone drinks coffee while building things. So they probably forgot.

      Seems the post 1982 cars had the Damper.

      It could have been how the TT were being built. Maybe they changed the materials being used and it now requred a dampner. The early 78/79 cars were very stout...
