I bare shaft tuned also. 100gr insert 200 grain cutthroat. Bare shaft the field points I think to 21 feet. I’d have cut my vanes if I shot the broad head second. Also insert tuned as well
Good video. My set up is Prime Logic 30. Set at 56 lbs. Shooting blood line arrows and Grim reaper broadheads with trophy ridge Cypher sight. I prefer hunting out of trees stands occasionally I have hunted out of pop up blinds here in west ky around the Tennessee and Cumberland River area. Good luck on your season
The bow shop I use here in south central PA recommends the TRX 34 over all other bows they sell for hunting, Mathews or otherwise. I was inquiring about the V3 when the told me that. They remarked that it’s the smoothest and most consistent hunting bow I would ever shoot. How could it not be? Mathews took a 40” world class target bow and shrunk it down to 34” to accommodate the hunter. That $1700 bare bones bow is on my wish list. I was glad you did a video on it!
If a bow is properly " tuned etc" there's no reason 2.5" vanes can't be 100% effective. Getting the right arrow setup isn't rocket science either. I'm no pro shooter by any means but cutting vanes off with broadheads isn't that difficult. At least to 40 for me.
Damn it! Changed to a V3 31 from a different manufacturer this year, Planning on changing to a TRX 38G2 for 3D season and NOW, I keep thinking about picking up a TRX 34 as a hunting backup OR waiting for the new super secret reveal. Decisions Decisions Decisions
It's good you have the ability and opportunities to have great equipment and places to chase game. Ride the ride while you can. Wide open and " pedal to the metal" attitude. 👍👍👍👍👍
I can not get my bowtech realm ss tuned in took it to two different shops arrow is good at 15 yards and after that the arrow kicks all over. What do you suggest I should do go to a heavier arrow. Im shooting gold tip 340 hunter xp, 65lb 29 inch draw.
@@marvinbland7309 you need to shoot it through paper or bare shaft it. Your grip and how you torque the bow is different from the techs. Get you a box and printer paper. I am “rocking” the TRX 34 for hunting (in Ohio). It is awesome, even with the 70v mods. Hight let off is not your friend. I guessing whatever that “super secret thing” is that everyone is waiting for will not be as nice to draw and hold as the TRX 34.
Dang, I almost want that TRX 34, but I think I should wait til 2022, because I just shot a Bowtech SS and it was pretty nice, but I do like the longer ATA bows.
Seems like I can't find any archery shop who's willing to do top hat tuning here in michigan. I fought for months different shops and everyone wanted to just move my rest or tell me my arrows were wrong or my grip was bad. Finally found a guy to change top hats and been great since. Still have to turn my peep Everytime tho because noone can seem to get it straight haha.
@@aaronhurlbut195 sorry, misunderstanding. When Chris mentioned his bear spray, he said we don’t have bears in Iowa. Maybe you meant he’ll need the spray in Ohio? All love, bro.
Why tune without the bars? Me and you both know that’s going to change the dynamic reaction of the bow and tune. Often times by a lot. Bareshafts would change dramatically. I mean obviously u shot the broadheads outside with the bars on but they are mechanicals which are not going to show any real imperfections to the tune.
The purpose of the stabilizer bars is to help the shooter overcome any error in their shot. The point of tuning the bow is to be absolutely certain that you have it dialed in. If you tune the bow with the stabilizers on there is a chance that the bars will give you a false reading. In other words, they could be correcting a tuning issue that you will not see unless the bars are removed. The idea is to get the equipment running perfectly then add the bars to further assist you. You tune the bow, the bars tune your shot.
@@albertastala9543 sorry friend that’s completely false. Would you tune a race car to run correctly without the doors or trunk attached? No because when u add those things to it the tune needs to change to accommodate the extra weight and dynamics. The stabilizers add bias to the bow in one direction which changes the direction of your grip pressure which drastically changes your tune. If you tune the bow with no bars and then add bars the tune changes 100 percent of the time zero questions asked. The goal of tuning is for the arrow to leave the bow straight without a biased direction under the conditions that the bow will be performing in. And in this case the bow will be performing with stabilizers attached. Because he’s shooting mechanicals he’s not too worried about it obviously. He knows all this
When you make this videos i drool over all the bows you show i wish you would give me one fully tuned Im new to archery.. Btw Im SPORT MEDICINE PHYSICIAN and i think the issue of the EFFECT OF ARCHERY ON THE LIGAMENTS AND MUSCLES AND JOINTS IS NOT explained well i dont mind to collaborate to discuss these issue online
Im considering getting back into archery someone that knows Better me help me find Names of products on his bow. Been out of archery about 10 years now. Probably picking up the V3.
This makes me believe Mathews will keep there short ATA bows but with a new cam. And everyone who wants a long ATA will have to cough up $1800 if they don’t have a Traverse.
yessurrr try em out with some traverse, probably the most underrated Mathew's bow
Never had a problem getting fixed blades to fly with heat vanes, but then again, I bare shaft tune instead of paper tune.
I agree 100 percent that’s what my veins are on my arrows shooting a 210 grain broadhead. Shoot awesome out to 60 haven’t shot farther yet
I bare shaft tuned also. 100gr insert 200 grain cutthroat. Bare shaft the field points I think to 21 feet. I’d have cut my vanes if I shot the broad head second. Also insert tuned as well
Bow setup vids are always entertaining, makes me wish but it’s always a good watch.😂 Can’t wait to see the videos later with the new Mathews!🤝🐝

I’ve heard that about the heat vanes, and Bohning recommends only using in 4 fletch too. Why not use regular Blazers in a 3 fletch?

Super secret thing. Lol I'm excited to see what mathews puts out!!
It’s The same bow with slight modifications and a new name
Are you gonna hunt with the budget mission bow you build awhile back?

Chris, do you use a magnified lens in your Ultraview when hunting? If so what magnification do you prefer? Thank you.
I am shooting Easton axis 5mm 340 spine at 420 grains. Wt NAP HELLRAZOR fixed blade. Out of my BOWTECH REVOLT good luck on your hunt
Do you always paper tune without stabilizers on?
I have the 34 brand new in ambush green, you're right Chris, didn't have to do much adjusting and it shoots perfect!
Hey Chris, what's your favorite arrow set ups for hunting?
I love the videos. I’m out here in Minnesota grinding trying to shoot my first buck for the mn bow season
I mean can you at least say if the new Mathews is an upgrade the V3? Because there wasnt enough for me to switch from the VXR
I’m shootings the Atlas this year with a 30.5” draw. Killer bow
Always like watching set up videos!
I was thinking Chris and Mathews might not be a pair anymore, but Mathews merch abounds. Good. Mathews is good stuff, Maynard.

What binos are those? I just got leupold alpine 2 Hds. I'm assuming these are nicer lol
What is that jig for the 2nd/3rd axis? on the table
TRX34 for the win! 80# Wake limbs are next. Hope the hunt was a success and look forward to more videos!
I’m blind and a tree stand guy. Liking the shorter bar setup. Will have to try that out.
If mathews comes out with a revamped traverse I'll sell everything I have to buy one.
Thats what i got. shoots tight i love it
And one the maxes out at 50 lbs. for some of us with aging body parts. I prefer to shoot bows maxed out.
I actually went with a Hoyt Ventum 30 because I could get it at a 50# draw weight. Really liked the V3 31 at 60 but backed out to 50 not as much.
Chris love the videos man, I have a question, I have a 26.5 draw length, should a shoot a 27 ata or something else? Help me 🤔🙏
Awesome video Chris!
Hey just wondering do I go gun hunting during gun season
Your outfitted hunt Matthews would have been pumped you whip out the budget bow build off the bow rack deadly video hope you drop a monster

Where are this metallic sight tapes from?
Welcome to southern Ohio Dresbach outdoors are great people and congratulations
Due to string angle, I would def prefer the 34 over 31
Where can I get a double pin for my uv3
@Chrisbee what part of Ohio. I hunt around Caldwell Ohio and we have pretty big bucks around there. last year there were 2 real big boys and a monstor

How much do you have in that set up pls let me know I am thinking about buying the set up you have

Chris if u shoot Thorn broadheads u can practice with them just put the practice collar on them
Is their a reason why he tuned without stabilizers on?
at 34" id consider it more of a hunting/3D bow than a target bow anyways
When’s the V3X get released? 🤔
dud have you guys seen chrises subscribers he's gotten a lot in the past the month

Isn’t the TRX34 classed as a crossover bow ?
Y'all coming through Kentucky this year 🤘🦌
Does that super secret thing have 31.5 draw length??????????

It’s most likely the 2022 Mathews that should release next month.
