So that's my next question. Thanks for this video, by the way. Would you ever take a target bow into the woods hunting? What if you don't want to spend all that money to buy two bow setups? Right now, I'm thinking about buying one bow to shoot both: league and to take hunting.
Great comparison! Did exactly the same test (but used the same arrows/scope/stabs/weights/poundage on both bows, letoff 60% on both) with my Reckoning 38 vs my RevoltX 33 yesterday. Shooting 1 Vegas 300 round with each. Results: Reckoning 38: 298 21X RevoltX 33: 298 20X I think You actually can compete with both as pure target bows without hesitation. The 33 might even be better for Outdoors due to less wind drift and faster arrows :-) I will do the same test outdoors scoring a 50m WA 72 round soon. Will be interesting!
V3 series definitely shootable Sometimes those long axle to axle bows for 3D and paper tend to drop out the bottom because of mass weight and (lack of ) follow through. I find higher letoff/low holding weight and higher mass weight in combination can be a bad thing at times.
Excellent concept for an archery video - accomplished archer comparing hunting and target rigs. Maybe the added draw weight is a factor and you should consider more draw weight on the TRX. Thank you for the great content
these newer hunting bows definitely are more accurate then they get credit for. i shot a 60x 300 yesterday with my hoyt axius alpha series. biggest factor is the guy behind the bow regardless of how its setup. awsome video. i enjoyed that one!
Hunting bows and target bows are definitely different. Does that mean you can’t shoot targets with a hunting bow? No. Does that mean you can’t hunt with a target bow? No. They are just optimized for their purposes.
At a first look, the UV3 looks like more of an indoor designed scope. I know they are really built for all around hunting, outdoor, and indoor archery. But look at the length of the scope compared to more traditional outdoor scopes. Sun will glare really bad on some shots even with long shades on them. The UV3 is a lot shorter so I could only imagine the problems associated with that. I also think that it’s super innovative for those wanting a simple one-piece design. It’s PERFECT for that! Looks sick. Designed and redesigned really well, I just think that outdoor won’t require as much light from a built in light, also the glare would be a killer for outdoor shooters.
I just got into archery a few months ago pretty heavy. Just got a new apex covert pro today and got my first Robin hood while sighting it in. Archery is such a great sport/ hobby
Deff do a 3D shoot off between the hunting bow and the target bow and I am a sub love the videos keep it up I have 3 favorite youtubers and that’s Chris bee elk shape and hushin
Could you please explain to me what you mean at 16:16 when you say your hunting bow is not set up for targets, I am new to the bow hunting, and don't quite understand why it whould be set up differently. Isn't the goal to get a grouping of a quarter? Doesn't matter if they are different styles of bow. I know you whoud't read my comments, but if anyone is reading please if you could explain to me what Chris Bee ment when he said this. Whould really be amazing.
Single Pin ultraview for all hunting disciplines or will you rock a multi-pin slider? Every couple years I go into a love/ hate with relationship of going from multi to single or single to multi😂
Nice and interesting video. I had a Mathews Nocam (the first model they came out with) and I kind of regret selling it. Relatively short bow (31" maybe), but long riser. I really don't understand why Mathews stopped the NoCam lineup. But to this video: It is not really a hunting vs target challenge. Because the target bow you use is your 3D bow. Well ok, unless you don't really have a real target bow, only for target. And by the way - for me my 3D bow, would be my hunting bow, because I would shoot 3D to practice hunting. But I assume maybe your 3D comps are a bit different, maybe you don't have a bowhunter class. But anyways - yes short bows are not necessarily bad to shoot target with and yes, you can use your hunting for target archery - maybe just switching your sight to a target sight. I prefer relatively short bows, simply because they don't weigh as much (I can't shoot much with a heavy bow). That's also the reason why for target I also use my short stabilisator that I use for 3D archery. So I use a bow, that is a hunting bow (I don't hunt), for 3D as well as for target. For target I just use another sight and other arrows. And by the way I also have a very short draw length - my present Hoyt Defiant is set at 25½", but I think maybe a slight shorter drawlength might be even better for me. About the V3 27: "The V3 features our longest riser to ATA ratio to date..." So like the NoCam a relatively long riser and therefore easier to hold steady, even if it is a short bow. Actually looks like an interesting bow.
Thanks for the great video. I'm actually getting a V3 31 for my do-everything bow, nice to see the shorter Mathews can get it done. Definitely would like to see you shoot the 31 in 3D.
I know this is an old video but I really like to rewatch these OG vids, would really like to see this style with the new bows lift vs title let's goo!!!
@ 6:00, is it the camera angle or are those arrows slamming into the target sideways from left to right? (well, all but the one arrow @ the 6/7 ring on the left target which looks like it actually hit straight-on).
Would love to see what sort of results you could get with 50lb Chinese triangle bow axle to axle is 21.5" so very short with 27.5" draw an Australian did a review of it and started with a bad opinion and ended up praising it after shooting it but really didn't want to. Have to add I bought it based on that review and am quite impressed so far.
Do you use your back tension release while hunting too? I would think that would be risky, but I’m new to archery in general. I’d love to see this again, but use your hunting release with the hunting bow just to see if there’s any difference at all. Also I doubt you use the same arrows. Not talking broadhead vs field point, diameter.
Yeah I like your videos and been watching a while. But I'm not sure that I'm ready for the commitment of a subscription yet. I am considering it though.
Do the hunting/target 3D setup challenge! I’ve always shot hunter and recently got a 34 so I could do different asa class and still have a hunting bow.
I definitely think that the best way to do this type of a huge where you’re Putting a hunting bow against a target though because of the draw weight differences it means more sense to do this across to pay time. That way you get your best effort on both those on the poundage .I would love to see this in 3-D format where are you shot the target go on and say the Saturday and then he shot the hunting go on a Sunday and then compared the scores
The number of deer that have been saved by that short bow is probably really high versus the advantages of the longer bow. I see it all the time with hunters practicing with those little bows.
Sweet how it comes down to form and practice. Shooting a 3D course would be cool. Put out a contest and have folks subscribe to be entered. Really enjoy your channel. Sweet jacket and hat.
Cool, a few years back I shot my first fita 1440 in the Uk using a full throttle everyone at the end was excited saying I’d shot an mob score , me ... what the f..k is mb 🤣🤣🤣 loving the target stuff now and love the stuff u do Subscribed !
hey Chris your videos have really kept me going. I broke my collar bone last year and was really bummed out that I missed deer season, also covid ruined my chance to go hunt my uncles land in Georgia. I cant wait to see what you do next!
I have been shooting 3D events all winter long with 2 different bows. Typically, Saturday I shoot my VXR 31.5 and Sundays I have been shooting my TRX 40. The VXR has scored almost the same as the TRX all winter long. I do not think there were many matches the scores were not within 2 points or dead even between the 2 bows. I have enjoyed shooting my VXR for indoor 3D and might shoot it at some events this summer now too, BUT, I have a new TRX 36 that should arrive in a few weeks so the VXR might have to chill out for a couple of months while I play with my new toy.
I have same issues. Much better groups and accuracy with hunting setup. So lighter, more let-off. Theory is to be a tack driver with target bow you need to shoot it quite often to build up strength, muscle memory. Or maybe I'm backbone hunter not paper shooter, who knows :-)
Probably, as long as the arrows are spined correctly for the v3. Only difference poundage makes is speed and feel. Target bows dont need to be anywhere near as fast, especially because most people hold better with higher letoff, not higher draw weight.
I could be wrong but I think the string above the peep is the factory divider that marks the true center of the string, and he keeps it in in case he has to change peeps. I've seen other people do it for that reason, anyway.
Very nice and informative video. Two things struck me: (1) it seemed the hunting bow got shot with different arrows than the target bow and (2) this may have been a camera angle thing, but it seemed the arrows did not hit the target in line with the assumed flight path, but slightly sideways and tail down. Am I right with these observations and if so, could there have been an impact to the precision? Another question to me was, if having a better sight on the hunting bow could benefit precision more? Not shooting an X is not painful, but missing the clean and quick kill zone would be - or why a simpler sight on the hunting bow?
Thanks for always keeping you videos clean, and no profanity, that’s why I’ll always watch you, means a lot to a Christian bow hunter. Happy Easter Chris
The v3 is such a sweet bow. Mathews has stepped their game up big time
For another challenge video you should shoot a competition with the V3 27 and kill a buck with the TRX 36. Now that'd be a blast.
i wanna see this happen lol
This needs to happen!
Make it happen Chris!
I already did that... Coues deer!!!
So that's my next question. Thanks for this video, by the way. Would you ever take a target bow into the woods hunting? What if you don't want to spend all that money to buy two bow setups? Right now, I'm thinking about buying one bow to shoot both: league and to take hunting.

Chris Bee is just nuts with any bow! Consistently slapping carbon at 55 yards?! Bro youre on another level😂
these newer hunting bows definitely are more accurate then they get credit for. i shot a 60x 300 yesterday with my hoyt axius alpha series. biggest factor is the guy behind the bow regardless of how its setup. awsome video. i enjoyed that one!

I'd love to see a good review on a magnified bow optic. That 6x sounds mouth watering
Yo I’m hyped to see one of these vids back!

Love your channel man! I’ve learned a lot of good tips from watching your videos
Thanks for the great video. I'm actually getting a V3 31 for my do-everything bow, nice to see the shorter Mathews can get it done. Definitely would like to see you shoot the 31 in 3D.
"I am a human, not a machine". Man, you shoot more like a machine than I do, that's for sure! Great Vids... keep em coming.
Of course we want a 3D target head to head contest between these bows...not even a question!

yes let's see a 3D challenge with both bows. good info. fun to see the differences
Hi Chris. What is the exact build up of your target bow? You mention it has a 6x lens. Interested in getting into target shooting. Thanks.
You also did it with the vxr 28! Which I later bought and love!
Letssssss goooooo!!! Had to pause mowing to watch this video!!! Been waiting for this video! Keep up the hard work Chris!
That was fun to watch and I was rooting for the hunting bow!
Would love to see what sort of results you could get with 50lb Chinese triangle bow axle to axle is 21.5" so very short with 27.5" draw an Australian did a review of it and started with a bad opinion and ended up praising it after shooting it but really didn't want to.

glad i didnt make a mistake
Yeah I like your videos and been watching a while. But I'm not sure that I'm ready for the commitment of a subscription yet. I am considering it though.
Do the hunting/target 3D setup challenge! I’ve always shot hunter and recently got a 34 so I could do different asa class and still have a hunting bow.
You got better with hunting bow as you went. Hunting bow finished with better groups. Nice. Time to practice. See ya
Great video. I'm a Hoyt guy but still enjoyed the video.
You helped me get to where I am I scored a 300 last round in my camp thank you keep up the videos
Heck ya more bow stuff
VERY interesting content. Sweet comments. You could have been a commentator for sure. And your shoting is awesome. THANKS!

Would like to see the 3d version for sure.
Please do that vid ! And also, can we get the bow builds in description ?
Sweet how it comes down to form and practice. Shooting a 3D course would be cool.
Put out a contest and have folks subscribe to be entered. Really enjoy your channel. Sweet jacket and hat.

The weight difference might have helped? At the longer range maybe wind effects were less. Awesome shooting.
I have a question new here but wouldn't you want to target shot with the same set up you hunt with
Can't get enough of your content!
lets go more content keep it up Chris!!
I have same issues. Much better groups and accuracy with hunting setup. So lighter, more let-off. Theory is to be a tack driver with target bow you need to shoot it quite often to build up strength, muscle memory. Or maybe I'm backbone hunter not paper shooter, who knows :-)
Dude love these videos keep them coming
The video was very educational. Thank you for sharing just subscribed also 👋🏽👍🏽
Curious of the results with the same poundage bows. Would they be the same?

Nice shooting with both bows. I was surprised the V3 27 beat out the TRX. I would have put money on the TRX.
Cool video man liking the shop too
I love my Traverse. Works awesome for my 3D shooting and hunting.
3d shooting comparison would be cool. I am still waiting on my v3 to come in. Just want it to come and to be able to shoot it
do the 3D shoot off !!
tell us about that string above your peep.
thanks for the vid
I could be wrong but I think the string above the peep is the factory divider that marks the true center of the string, and he keeps it in in case he has to change peeps. I've seen other people do it for that reason, anyway.
What spine do you shot for your hunting bow
3D edition! That would be sweet!
I like the 3d edition but using a wrist strap release for the hunting bow.
May I know how you train shooting a compound, because I want to use my hunting bow to a target competition, Many Thanks
Would love to see Target vs Hunting rig 3D edition!
Been subscribed since day one pretty much

Perhaps because you use the sight you use for hunting, on your hunting bow? And this is a hunting bow vs target (or rather 3D) bow.
hunting vs target 3D Edition!!!👍👍👍
You definitely should do the 3D shoot of Target VS hunting bow
You got warmed up an your Killin it
Thanks for always keeping you videos clean, and no profanity, that’s why I’ll always watch you, means a lot to a Christian bow hunter. Happy Easter Chris
