Just came across this video and as a e46 M3 Vert owner, I absolutely love it. It is my daily and the top is down 80% of the year.

Also for as well as this car handles and as stiff as it is the ride on it is superb

If you get a hardtop you get both of best worlds!! Plus an e46 m3 convertible with the Turner cf intake, Alpha N tune and a good exhaust with the top down in a tunnel! My gawd!! It is amazing!!

I'm lucky to have one of these. On a day when the sun is shinning, there's nothing better than having that roof down and hearing that S54 engine singing. My roof is off way less though as i live in the North East of Scotland 🤣

Christian, $5700 sounds good for a nice 330 if it has a manual transmission. Power steering hose leaks are common and hoses are easy to replace. If you get it, be sure to replace the power steering reservoir/filter and the fluid as well.

About 2 years ago I was finally able to get 2002 convertible SMG. And this was exactly what I wanted (cabrio + SMG). I feel this two ways... In one hand the cabriolet is cheaper which was good to me. On the other, I really don't understand the lack of love these cars get when compared to the coupe. My opinion (of course), the convertible should still be more expensive/valuable than the coupe and appreciating at an even higher rate. Much more capable sport cars came along over the past 20 plus years and now, most of the things that make E46 M3's so iconic and special, only get amplified by the whole convertible experience.
When the E46 originally came out, i would never get the convertible over the coupe. But with time it "logically" changed and now is completely the opposite for me. Regarding the SMG (another "hot" topic), on that regard, for me it's SMG all the way since day one (and wouldn't want it any other way! - unless I was fortunate enough to get an M3 mainly for drifting*).
I think the convertible makes more and more sense every day. Thanks for making this video because it points in that direction.
On a side note, here in Portugal (maybe because it's sunny, I really don't know) there's a little bit more parity between convertibles and coupes. I got mine (in 2021) for around 30K EUR and it was (at the time) the cheapest available online by some margin (around 4K lower than the next one). It was medium milleage (89K KM), very good overall condition. Two years and no issues.
    * - for around 12K USD I would very happily get a manual E46 M3! :) So if you guys still have those prices, please go for it. What a great car.

My perspective has changed as well especially when you have young kids. It’s a pain to get my kids in the coupe but the convertible makes it so easy and they love it too. For the prices in the US it’s a great deal especially getting the S54 in it. You can tell the differences in weight and rigidity when driving but driving on normal roads it doesn’t matter plus it’s far more fun with the top down!! Enjoy the ///M!

Convertible are usually not driven aa hard by previous owners, so they are a good second hand option too. 15k for one? Where? These are in the mid 20s nowadays.

I went to a car show yesterday in my Emola red six-speed 02 M3 convertible.. I was pretty shocked at all of the attention it got. In fact several people said are you the guy in the red M3? I don't get that in my Porsches😂

Do you think a 2003 330i for $ 5700that has 142k miles with the only real problem being a power steering leak and a few cosmetic scratches is a good deal?

To add to his point about the convertibles being more rare, realize that convertibles are also less loved (cared for and maintained). A lot of them are bought by people that can't afford to keep them running well, and / or are modded with poor taste or even wrecked by morons. So they will be even more rare in the future as they drop like flies until they are more appreciated by the enthusiast community. Once classic cars are old enough they say "when the top goes down the price goes up".
