You lot know very well that there is some support passion for Demi Moore and you use her image on your thumbnail to drag some traffic. However, you list her as low as possible on your prediction. Not good.
Sebastian Stan wasn't able to do Actors on Actors because no other actor wanted to promote The Apprentice. There's no way The Apprentice is showing up anywhere at the Oscars.
@@supercjm3306 They - and/or their publicists- were afraid to talk about Trump. The industry has become very cowardly. If it hasn't always been like that. Disney recently made Rachel Zegler apologise for saying something negative about him and his supporters after the election. However, voting ifor nominatatikns and awards is anonymous - so a completely different ballgame. Incidentally, Coleman Domingo already did an A24 ome on one talk with Sebastian Stan a couple of months ago, and they talked about both The Apprentice and A Different Man.
-I really hope you will be totally wrong with Demi Moore. -Hugh Grant is already on the radar for his extraordinary work on Heretic and you didn't even mention him
@@friendlypup5650 I've seen him being predicted by other people, and I'll sustain that it's such a stretch. Dudes fell into a PR trap and just ran with it. There's no chance that's going to happen with the Bob Dylan movie at the top of the contenders. Meanwhile, superstar industry darling Daniel Craig is delivering a career-best performance in a prestige Guadagnino arthouse film, while also having never been nominated before and being in full campaign mode at this point. He was a lock from the start, but apparently, some people took issue with that film and tried to make it everyone's problem, as if his chances were tied to the film being accessible rather than his name in the industry and the fact that he's overdue for a nomination.
I never understood people trashing Nightmare Alley. I thought it was great. Better than at least half of the Best Picture nominees that year. And Cate Blanchett was fantastic in it. The acting overall and the cinematography were amazing.
I like it a lot too! Was confused when it seemed pretty agreed upon to be a disappointment. I mean, it's no Pan's Labyrinth, but it's a very solid movie. - M

What about Daniel Craig for Queer? I haven't had a chance to see it, but people thought he could get a nomination even if the movie was not that well received. So far I've only seen The Substance, The Apprentice, The Outrun, I'm Still Here, and Conclave. But I'm seeing The Room Next Door tonight, and this month I'll also watch Anora, Emilia Perez and Hard Truths. I'm still not sure if I'll watch Gladiator II, and Wicked is only opening here in December. Of what I've seen, Saiorse Ronan is really strong in The Outrun, and Demi Moore and Fernanda Torres are also really good (though in the latter case, I felt Fernanda Montenegro kind of stole that movie in just a few minutes of screentime). Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong absolutely deserve the nominations and should get them depending on the politics and courage (or lack of) of the acting branch. Ralph Fiennes is excellent and will no doubt get nominated for Conclave, and Isabella Rossellini is possible, but I really don't think anyone from the movie has a real chance of getting nominated for Best Supporting Actor. The supporting male cast is good across the board, but there are too many of them, and the ones who are the biggest names (Tucci and Lithgow) stand out far less than some other cast members (Carlos Diehz, Sergio Castellino, Lucian Msamati). I love Stanley Tucci, but this is not a very strong and memorable role - and it would be really weird if he got nominated when he doesn't even give the most memorable supporting performance in the movie itself. ETA: I haven't seen The Brutalist, but you didn't discuss Guy Pearce. Why do you think he can't win?
Personally I don't have much faith in Craig, mostly because the movie is just SO experimental and strange. The film is truly alienating, and I struggle to see it performing well anywhere. - M
Nickel Boys is definitely more experimental, but it's a Jean-Luc Godard/Michael Snow/Godfrey Reggio type of experimental, where it's very formally experimental, but the content isn't all that daring or alienating. Queer is Alejandro Jodorowsky/Gaspar Noe/David Lynch experimental, where the content is the weird part. I don't see the Academy draw for a film about two guys trying to get high on ayahuasca and experience ego death. So I think that's the difference I see between them. - M
@ fair! Although the academy did nominate Lynch for Mulholland Drive. Either way.. at least I think despite the movie inaccessibility and weirdness, Craig’s portrayal is actually quite ‘normal’ for the most part (depressed gay man putting out a façade). I can see it getting a nomination.
You're totally right that Mulholland Drive is the precedent, and maybe in a weak category, Craig can pull something off despite the weirdness of the movie. That said, Mulholland Drive was being acclaimed at the time as one of the greatest movies ever made, and Queer had mixed-positive buzz out of festivals, which could hold it back where Lynch succeeded - M
There's no way liberal leaning Hollywood is touching The Apprentice. There won't be much international support for it either. Best Actor is easily Brody, Fiennes, Chalamet & Domingo. I'm thinking the 5th slot is down to either Daniel Craig or Jesse Eisenberg. Top 3 in Best Actress are Mikey Madison, Angelina Jolie & Karla Sofia Gascon. 4th and 5th slots are down to Demi Moore, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo & Fernanda Torres. I wouldn't sleep on Fernanda Torres especially with International support. You both have Kieran Culkin missing??? That's certainly a choice. I'd say he's close to being the front runner, along with Guy Pierce. If anyone misses it could be Clarence Maclin; Sing Sing has been significantly fading. It really needs a boost in campaigning from the studio. I don't think there's enough room in Supporting Actress for both Ariana Grande & Selena Gomez. I'd go with Ariana Grande all day; Emilia Perez is also losing steam.
The consensus from the moment reviews started coming out has been that he's the absolute stand-out of the film. There were even a couple saying he could win his third Oscar for it. Even people who disliked the movie said he was great in it so I think a nomination is almost guaranteed at this point. He also recently announced that he's only doing about 5-7 more projects and then he's retiring so I think the industry will want to reward him as much as they can in the next few years.
I don't think Emilia Perez will be a strong contender. I have taken Karla out of my predictions. I think Mikey is undeniable 🙂 Selena Gomez is not getting in. She is the weakest part of the film.
Demi Moore seems like a great person, but I don’t think she has enough to do in The Substance to warrant a nomination. I’d be disappointed if she takes it over a more deserving performance.

I was thinking exactly the same, I entered here because I saw her
I'm still here is amazing and the performance of Fernanda Torres incredible!
Having tilda in top 5 is like so funny
The film is not getting any buzz
Don't forget the industry has been wanting/needing young movie stars, maybe the youth of Chalamet can actually help him for a narrative.

Fernanda Torres is extraordinary in "I'm Still Here"!!

Daniel Craig below Phoenix and the dude from the Bob Marley film is insane. People forget who that guy is
