As a Brazilian, I'm totally biased on this one: I really want to see Fernanda Torres on the list. I know it's hard, but her performance is just surreal and speak to us - who either lived or studied about the dictatorship - on a level that rarely happens. And just for curiosity: "I'm still here" is a hit in Brazil. It even topped "Wicked" in the national box office. Considering Brazilian cinema has suffered A LOT after the pandemic, this is a great feat, and we are already proud of her - with or without a nomination ❤
@@user-if4ux9io8qI’m not sure. It was featured last summer at Telluride Film Festival where I had a chance to watch this wonderful film. I thought Ms. Torres performance can only be described as Bravura.
"I'm Still Here" will be released in the USA on January 17, 2025 (LA and New York) and it's getting a massive audience in Brazil this year! Please, go watch Also, Fernanda Torres should be in the list, what a great performance!
Fernanda Torres performance is so beautiful. Some of you might not know but her mother is the actress from Central Station, she was nominated back in 1999, she also plays the very same Eunice Paiva in this filme as an elder. We can tell they’re related. The strength it takes to keep emotions her emotions in times of despair is such a mature move for an actor, she didn’t need to scream or cry for us to feel her agony and I believe that is what touched me the most.
I do think y’all are underestimating Fernanda Torres in I’m Still Here or Pamela Anderson in The Last Showgirl. I got to see those movies at a film festival recently and was blown away by their performances and Pamela Anderson has the legacy narrative while Fernanda Torres is getting so much buzz about how magnificent she is. Be on the lookout for one of those or even both.
I think if anyone is getting the career achievement nom This year it’s Demi no Pamela. I was at the world premier of Last Showgirl and while Pamela gives a good performance I think it’s probably too crowded for her to get in this year unfortunately.

I cannot see Jolie missing. Right now I'd say she's the favourite to win Drama at Globes and I think that plus this being a biopic role puts her firmly in the top 3 or 4 at least.
Saoirse Ronan for The Outrun is still not getting mentioned, but its probably one of the more human performances of the year and she is making the rounds, and she has also another movie (Blitz) out. Super dark horse (Kate Winslet for Lee) mostly due to her Andrea Riseborough type marketing she is doing.
I don’t really get the astounding love for Anora. A sex worker performance that was gut wrenching was Elisabeth Shue in Leaving Las Vegas. Now that was Oscar winning worthy. I did like Anora. I’d nominate it for screenplay and that’s it.
I also don't understand the "awards love" for Anora. I don't see why anyone thinks it fits the Academy's usual profile. Fun movie, strong screenplay, strong performances...but not an Oscar type of movie.
Agreed, Anora is nothing truly special. I liked the film but I dont know what people see when they say it should be winning all these Oscars, Mikey was good but her character arc is not noteworthy.
@@joymartin4640it's not about arc. It's about performance. Some let their Political and moral views get in the way of what is on screen. Madison knocks it out the park. Playing a kinda ghetto and brash Sex Worker. Character arc has nothing to do with whether an actor is good or bad.
More than any other year, Jeff and I are on the same wavelength! Nicole Kidman for Babygirl!!! Honestly I feel like she can swoop in and win a second Oscar. There is no clear consensus of who would win right now and I think that will drag on this season. Then Babygirl is released and boom she’s a front runner! Also, I think that it’s been a big year for her. AFI, the Venice Best Actress win, her championing many types of projects to create work for people, the vanity fair cover in which she’s literally at the center.
so this is my Oscars 2025 Best Actress predictions Angelina Jolie - Maria Nicole Kidman - Babygirl Karla Sofía Gascón - Emilia Pérez Demi Moore - The Substance Pamela Anderson - The Last Showgirl Saoirse Ronan - The Outrun Cynthia Erivo - Wicked Fernanda Torres - I'm Still Here Amy Adams - Nightbitch Marianne Jean-Baptiste - Hard Truths
I haven’t seen the episode yet but I’m pre mad that they didn’t include Fernanda Torres on their top 5. I can’t possibly imagine that this year we’ve had 5 better performances than what she did in Im still here. From what I’ve seen, she is much better than Karla or Demi Edit: I knew it! Mark my words. I’m still here will win international feature over Emilia Perez
I just saw Wicked and I’m a big fan of the show. The performances are great and even though I knew it was part 1, I felt cheated once the movie ended. I don’t see it as a Best Picture candidate, and I think that affects Cynthia’s chances. And all the great songs are in Part 1 so Idk how they’ll make Part 2 memorable
Talk about an embarrassment of riches in this category; certainly much different than Best Actor where it's tough to find 5 performances to nominate. At this point, I think the only 2 sure things are Mikey Madison & Karla Sofia Gascon. I think passion & visibility will determine the last 3 positions in this category. Also, you still have to think about what genres the Academy typically goes for in this category. I think the international voting block has to be taken into consideration, more and more they are a voice to be reckoned with. I think visibility certainly is going to help Cynthia Erivo & Nicole Kidman, I'm predicting both of them. Then it comes down to the 5th slot. Demi Moore is a passion pick certainly among movie fans but The Substance is not what the Academy typically votes for. I think Jeff is right about Maria, that movie doesn't seem to have any momentum. So based on these factors my 5th slot goes to Fernanda Torres in I'm Still Here.
Fernanda Torres' impeccable performance in I'm still here signals Brazil's return to the Oscars. The importance of this film is undeniable, as it narrates a real event that occurred during the Military Dictatorship. In times when, unfortunately, the Far Right has grown all over the world, it is good to show the dark side of it all.
For me, the Madison, Garcon, Moore, Erivo, Kidman would be a FANTASTIC list and a good mix of films for the category, too. But I feel, somehow, that only 3 of those will actually make it in for, maybe, more Oscar fare-type movies. But who knows?
So are you saying that portman and stewart were nominated just because people love princess diana and jackie, and because they don't like callas as much, Jolie won't get nominated. it's about who gave the best performance not who people love more !!!!
Tbh, right now, I don’t think Cynthia is gonna get in. She’s getting reviews, as she should. But all the awards buzz is going to Ariana. It’s hard to see one getting a nom and the other one not but that’s just how it feels right now. I do feel Jolie is gonna get it in. It’s the nod from the older academy members.
if Wicked keeps bringing the positivity given the election results, Erivo may get in for Best Actress. The Defying Gravity scene which ends the film is so impactful to me
Nicole and her film are getting stronger ink, and she won over Jolie at Venice. It’s no surprise that people who have seen both are leaning toward Nicole. She’s also very respected nowadays (not just high profile, as Angie is) , with this year’s AFI and a nomination two years ago despite mixed reviews.
Completely agree with Jeff. Karla Sofia Gascon is the performance of the year for me. I did not know that she also played the role of Manitas. I really thought it was some other actor. She has a complete arc and such a great range across the film. I liked Mikey Madison's performance but completely get why Jeff says she does not deliver an award winning performance.
'Eu estou aqui' é o melhor filme deste ano, uma verdadeira obra prima da sétima arte! Voces deveriam respeitar e reconhecer mais o trabalho de artistas internacionais! Fernanda Torres está simplesmente perfeita no papel!
The greatest Day song by Take that in Anora is an excellent song and I’m so glad it was in the film. Take that have been one of Britain’s greatest groups/bands ever and it was a shock to hear them in an American film. ❤️
agree w/Snyder, Mikey is awesome and that finale is earned and beautiful but I don’t believe it to be a winning performance. Erivo is breathtaking in Wicked, despite the film’s direction being flawed and diminishing her chances for a win. Looking forward to watching Kidman and Jolie

I know these could be long shots but shout out to zendaya for her incredible performance in challengers and I’m happy she is getting a Gotham tribute and also Saoirse Ronan for her moving performance in the outrun much love to the three of you for another fantastic episode
this time I agreeing with Jeff... definitely Mikey Madison is a great actress but in Madison performance in Anora not seeing as "Best Actress" winning... I'm seeing the Oscars 2025 Best Actress winner is already have an Oscars.. it's between Angelina Jolie for Maria & Nicole Kidman for Babygirl.. or veteran actress not yet an Oscars like Pamela Anderson for The Last Showgirl, Demi Moore for The Substance & Karla Sofía Gascón for Emilia Pérez
Also I assume this was filmed before the Kate Winslet grassroots campaign for Lee… if she makes it in over someone like Demi Moore I will officially riot.
Im sorry but theres NO WAY angie misses out. As someine who isnt in america, I didnt kbow babygirl existed. Or what it is. I know about Maria. Jolie is too big of a movie star for people to not watch her
I’ve just seen the outrun with Saoirse Ronan and my god she’s excellent and how anyone picks Mikey over her perhaps needs a rewatch. Haha I enjoyed Anora and mikey of course but Saoirse Ronan was a real acting performance
Perri, you don’t want to be loud in just October and November. Also, people who are inherently excited to see Maria aren’t going to be loud about their interest.
How about what accomplished and par excellence actress as Nicole Kidman who has been passed for nomination so many times, but more aggravatimg not winning more than 1 Oscar gold for the following- To Die For at least a nom, The Others another nomination ( oscars shld have made an exemption that year bcoz those are 2 wide apart above excellence performances, the other being Moulin Rouge). Dogville and Birth for sure deserved actress award wins considering the competition those years. Her acting in these last 2 movies are so nuanced, jarring and haunting. Even AFI recognized that NK is a unique and exceptional actress who can tackle a very wide range of.acting- true Indie dark comedies Birthday Girl Margot@ the Wedding even Fur..... her flimigraphy is so varied only an actress of her caliber can do it.

1. Mikey Madison
2. Angelina Jolie
3. Karla Sofia Gascón
4. Nicole Kidman
5. Demi Moore
6. Fernanda Torres
7. Marianne Jean-Baptiste
8. Cynthia Erivo
9. Saiorse Ronan
10. Tilda Swinton
I don’t really get the astounding love for Anora. A sex worker performance that was gut wrenching was Elisabeth Shue in Leaving Las Vegas. Now that was Oscar winning worthy. I did like Anora. I’d nominate it for screenplay and that’s it.
I agree. The first half was okay, the second half was a mess. I don't get the hype with it.
I love leaving las vegas, that movie made me melancholy…nicholas and shue are both soulful in that movie❤
The whole Wicked movie is AMAZING!! Both leads deserve nominations.
I'm looking forward to seeing "Maria" and plenty of others will as well. She was a legend, Jeff.
so this is my Oscars 2025 Best Actress predictions
Angelina Jolie - Maria
Nicole Kidman - Babygirl
Karla Sofía Gascón - Emilia Pérez
Demi Moore - The Substance
Pamela Anderson - The Last Showgirl
Saoirse Ronan - The Outrun
Cynthia Erivo - Wicked
Fernanda Torres - I'm Still Here
Amy Adams - Nightbitch
Marianne Jean-Baptiste - Hard Truths
Pamela over Mickey Madison? I hate to be like Jeff but 😂😂😂😂
Mikey Madison isn’t here??? Lol she clears them qll
Totally agree on Knives Out!! Great pick
I haven’t seen the episode yet but I’m pre mad that they didn’t include Fernanda Torres on their top 5. I can’t possibly imagine that this year we’ve had 5 better performances than what she did in Im still here. From what I’ve seen, she is much better than Karla or Demi
Edit: I knew it! Mark my words. I’m still here will win international feature over Emilia Perez
Mikey, Angelina, Karla, Marianne, Fernanda
I think y'all are sleeping on Pamela Anderson for The Last Showgirl. Movie comes out in December but she had great reviews coming off TIFF
have you seen the movie? i did. we're good here.
Demi Moore better get nominated. She's my number 2
Check out Perri's Mikey Madson interview everyone!
Watched Anora and while I definitely liked it, it was not an Academy Award winning film let alone not worthy of a Best Actress win for Madison.

"Brazil's return" ...🤔
MIKEY MADISON
ANGELINA JOLIE
KARLA SOFIA GASCON
FERNANDA TORRES
CINTHIA ERIVO
DEMI MOORE.
17:46 Hope it gets some nominations 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 (I'm Still Here)
Saoirse Ronan in The Outrun? Did not hear her name mentioned
For me, the Madison, Garcon, Moore, Erivo, Kidman would be a FANTASTIC list and a good mix of films for the category, too. But I feel, somehow, that only 3 of those will actually make it in for, maybe, more Oscar fare-type movies. But who knows?
Fernanda Torres!
Perri should agree but Naomi Scott SHOULD be nominated for Smile 2 but unfortunately won’t. She’s so good!
Last week I was listening to FYC and I as Manz and I passed each on the escalator at the Grove! Was such a funny moment and so great to say hello 😊😂
Fernanda Torres, in I'm Still Here. ❤ Jan, 17 USA
Fact check: Kristen Stewart was Oscar nominated for Spencer. She wasn’t snubbed.
So are you saying that portman and stewart were nominated just because people love princess diana and jackie, and because they don't like callas as much, Jolie won't get nominated. it's about who gave the best performance not who people love more !!!!
Don’t be naive. Did you really think Michelle Yeoh gave the best performance that year?
Has Perri not done a #Wicked review?? Or am I just blind?
Tbh, right now, I don’t think Cynthia is gonna get in. She’s getting reviews, as she should. But all the awards buzz is going to Ariana. It’s hard to see one getting a nom and the other one not but that’s just how it feels right now. I do feel Jolie is gonna get it in. It’s the nod from the older academy members.
Love Fernanda’s performance
2nd Oscars for Nicole Kidman " Babygirl "
if Wicked keeps bringing the positivity given the election results, Erivo may get in for Best Actress. The Defying Gravity scene which ends the film is so impactful to me
Nicole Kidman gets nominations for films nobody watches.
Fernanda Torres is Superb in I'm Still Here!!
my predictions:
1. Mikey Madison (Anora)
2. Karla Sofia Gascón (Emília Pérez)
3. Angelina Jolie (Maria)
4. Nicole Kidman (Babygirl)
5. Cynthia Erivo (Wicked)
hm: Demi Moore (The Substance); Saoirse Ronan (The Outrun); Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Hard Truths); Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here) and Amy Adams (Nightbitch)
So many to chose from. Plus the rare jeff perry team up
Completely agree with Jeff.
For me, Fernanda has to be there. She gave us emotion. What a performance.
agree w/Snyder, Mikey is awesome and that finale is earned and beautiful but I don’t believe it to be a winning performance. Erivo is breathtaking in Wicked, despite the film’s direction being flawed and diminishing her chances for a win. Looking forward to watching Kidman and Jolie
Fernanda Torres ❤️
Angelina to win hopefully and I would love Demi runner up
I loved Maria Jeff
Wait. The Substance is streaming on Mubi!!
Fernada Torres ✨️❤️
Talking about woman"d achievement
In this show Love Without End. Lin Dai was originally a country bumpkin who came to seeknher uncle
The leading actor Kwan Dham found out her talent in Singapore and before long she became a famous singer.
This song described the countryside where she came from.
Reminiscent of the storyline in My Fair Lady which came out in 1963. This show as in 1961.

Fernanda Torres
How many #1 and #2 votes is Jolie going to get? Not enough in my opinion. Currently I have:
Madison
Gascon
Erivo
Kidman
Torres
This is the year for women in film and this is the year of two incredible movie musicals in Emilia Perez and Wicked I hope both films get a lot of love this awards season. I know these could be long shots but shout out to zendaya for her incredible performance in challengers and I’m happy she is getting a Gotham tribute and also Saoirse Ronan for her moving performance in the outrun much love to the three of you for another fantastic episode
Perri: Wicked all the way! 👌💯😊
Victoria pedetrei was also in OUATINH
this time I agreeing with Jeff... definitely Mikey Madison is a great actress but in Madison performance in Anora not seeing as "Best Actress" winning...
Cynthia Erivo! I have her at 3 also, Perri
Jolie is too big of a movie star for people to not watch her
Nicole Kidman all the way 😍
Angelina Jolie is phenomenal in the 3rd part of the Tormented Woman Trilogy
If there is any nomination that is DESERVED this year, that is …. Demi Moore in “The Substance”!!!!
I’ve just seen the outrun with Saoirse Ronan and my god she’s excellent and how anyone picks Mikey over her perhaps needs a rewatch. Haha
I enjoyed Anora and mikey of course but Saoirse Ronan was a real acting performance
Perri, you don’t want to be loud in just October and November. Also, people who are inherently excited to see Maria aren’t going to be loud about their interest.
Nobody is better at getting nominated for movies that no one remembers as Nicole Kidman.
