I'm two weeks late on the question "am I doing good?", but the answer, for someone who's never played a Souls game is most definitely "yes". Your parries are on point. You don't overextend. You don't panic roll. You're doing amazing.

Whenever another player kindles a bonfire you get an extra Estus Flask if you are nearby the same bonfire. Also don't forget your black knight sword. Now time to watch the rest of the video.
Smart move using the Black Knight Greatsword on Quelaag since black knight weapons are especially made to combat demonic enemies

Btw (i didn't finish watching) but are you going to use the black knight greatsword now that you got the dex? 2 handing will give you 50% more str so you can use it now.

5:00 You're doing fantastic man, compared to most people's first playthroughs your's has been stellar! Your reflexes are solid, your gamesense is good and you're leveling your stats and gear properly; that's more than can be said for most people and you've got an excellent basis for succeeding at this series. You handled both Blighttown and Quelaag very nicely too, most people reach their first roadblock there but you breezed through them without a problem!
The second half of the game is running in Havel's and bonking everything left and right without caring about his attack distance so hi misses often. It quickly regressed back to monke.
22:00 the reason you got those 400 souls is because a out-of-bounds basiliks spawns and falls to its death, it only happens when entering the great hollow, as you need to follow it to complete his death animation, is a discarded copy of an enemy that has gravity enable, so it'll always happens

Honest Answer. You are doing insanely well. Like REALLY good. Nobody is as good as you at parry and overall awareness on their first souls game.

Wow, I've just been catching up on wind waker because, at 53 i relate to it more, it makes me happy, i started losing all interest in youtube because I've missed this, having a 73 year old gamer mum, this is normal to me, although ghost of tsushima, god of war, and assassins creed are the most brutal she'll go. But i missed this so much 😊❤❤❤.

honestly, I do really like the atmosphere and design of blight town. love the rickety buildings, and I absolutely adore the massive pillars they're built on.
same reason why in elden ring I really love the ruin strewn precipice. it might just be a small minidungeon, but I love the aesthetic of walking across this giant archway.

Here I was just earlier today hoping for another Dark Souls video. And the legend delivers.
Summonable NPC for Quelaag: Maneater Mildred. Requires defeating her when she invades in the Blighttown swamp
Get the Ring of Fog and slumbering dragon ring or wood grain ring and play as a stealthy Ninja for NG+. Esp the wood grain ring with enough endurance to light roll.
Ring of fog is a covenant item requiring 20 pvp wins thats quite difficult considering age

You get two skull lantern any way and even at that Skill Lantern is pretty useless if you have twenty humanity and can kill the chaos bug through the shortcut quickly after getting Lord Vessel. This way you can just straight away get the helmet. I just thought about it because he was using that outfit and the NPC originally wearing this in game also has ring of fog equipped.

In case you didn't know, a mob spawns out of the spawnable area and falls to it's death. Mistake by the devs.
Just want to say that you are indeed a parry God but also the fact that you picked up the jumping heavy attack so fast and actually use it is so impressive for a first timer.

1:50 I played on ps3 literally today. It's not THAT bad. It's really noticeable and annoying. But far from unplayable.
5:06 I do question why you're using the wooden shield instead of at least the heater since it would let you block ALL physical damage and still parry at a good speed. But aside from that, you're doing fine, perfectly fair for a first playthrough. Even a bit surprising in some places, like how easily you handled the Capra demon, most people take a good while with him on their first go.

@@nathanielthompson3339 Yeah, but doesn't that only reduce fall damage. I wouldn't think Myazaki would be generous enough to give us fall damage immunity just from a spell.
By the way, mashing will help you break out of certain grabs quicker.
