The bloodstain at the beginning of the painted world is comedy gold.
32:25 in case nobody told you, The Painted World of Ariamis is actually the very first map designed for the game, and at one point it was supposed to be the tutorial level (it even has an Asylum Demon programmed on it, iirc). Eventually, they moved the tutorial to the actual Asylum, but Miyasaki liked the winter area so much, they put it in a painting, as the style was very different. And, as you saw there, they didn't fixed some of the old collisions on the area, that invisible platform is a very well known thing for speedrunners.
Another interesting thing is that Priscilla was meant to be your level-up character, like many others in the souls series.

Sprinting past the big guard enemies straight toward a mimic gave me so much joy.

The trick with mimics is to look at the chain attached.
"Chain curls back, safe from attack.
Chain points straight, don't tempt your fate."
That always helped me.
And additionally, mimic chests always breathe. so just take a moment to watch them closely and you will see the lid go up and down ever so slightly.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This series really takes me back to my first playthrough. Seeing DBG strategize on how to manage the O + S gank, baiting Ornstein’s attacks, and staying cool to finish Smough off in the final attempt. The essence of souls right there.

I remembered playing this not too long ago for the first time and by this time I had to make sure to have my strength up and endurance mainly cause by the time I got to anor londo I was wielding the black knight sword and halberd and I was so overpowered lol

In case you need to farm in the future, the shield slugs in the painting are generally the best enemy to get souls from
thats not actually true, his character isnt built properly to farm them because he'd need the pyromancy flame upgraded decently high and one of the fire storm spells. his best farming options at the point of that run hes at in this video is the 6 giant guards near the first anor londo bonfire, since theyre relatively tightly clustered, and closer to the bonfire than the route he showed.
that is, unless he wants to go to the mathematically best farming spot in the game, which is in tomb of the giants at the second bonfire. but I doubt he wants to farm in the dark.
You can farm the Phalanx with just about anything. You don't need Firestorm to do it. Overall, you get fewer souls, but they are all grouped up together next to the bonfire while the Sentinel are split up in two groups

So, my first victory against OS was thanks to learning that they're susceptible to poison and summoning Solaire. Solaire kept them busy while I shot them full of poison arrows.

The Phalanx (aka "blobs") are the best soul farm in the game...but it's easier to use fire spells than melee to kill them.

11:10. I hate it when some1 tries 5 min and gets a parry god but I never gets it in...
The Black Knight Greatsword is such a badass weapon, and I say that in spite of the fact that I hate its R2s (especially the two-handed R2, but the one-handed one is still slow and a bit jank). The Zweihander has a much better moveset and is technically stronger maxed out and with strength and dex both at very high levels (at or near their softcaps), AND it can be enchanted with spells or resins, but it's also much more costly to max out, whereas the BK Greatsword levels up with Twinkling Titanite, so it's a really good one to fall back on if you prefer another weapon's moveset but want some bigger damage.
I just looked it up for any nerds out there. Zweihander+15 has 610 attack power one-handed at 40 strength and 40 dex and 660 atk at 99/99. BKGS has 596 at 40/40 and 643 at 99/99.
But if you have 40 strength and only 20 dex, the BKGS has 589 atk, while the Zweihander "only" has 564.
And again, you can use resins or enchantments on the Zweihander, but not on the BKGS.

also the Black Iron set found belongs to the man the myth the legend Iron Tarkus, who presumably was the one who broke the window but fell from the rafters to his death

As cool as the idea would be to kill them both at once, unfortunately the game wont let you. Theres a video on youtube about what happpens if you synchronize the death animations so they die on the same frame and if I remember right it just picks giant ornstein.

Because it's your first time I won't weigh in on the comment, but the fact that you carry the shield and don't use it is hilarious. It's as if his character was literally Christ carrying a cross which only adds weight to his character. One tip, if you're not going to use a shield, don't equip it. I believe you're still figuring out how to play so you have every right to just ignore me. This series of yours is very good.

Yeah, it can be a rough run back.
Oh man watching him keep backing away from super smough killed me. You have to run in with him because he’s so big most of his attacks won’t even hit you of your pressed in close. And he had the strength to stun him.
Just like with the zombie dragon in the painted world he gets stuck into a mind set and won’t deviate making everything harder for himself. The dragon is about run in attack back off. And the power couple second half is where the game meta changes from doge away from enemy’s to dodging towards them. Great videos but god was I losing my shit at times screaming at him.
As for whether to kill Ornstein or Smough first, I feel like starting with Ornstein is better if you just want to complete the game. But if you want to get both of their items on a NG/NG+ cycle (for all achievements or just to have it), I would kill Smough first in NG and Ornstein first in NG+. I learned this the hard way. :D (But on the other hand, killing super Ornstein in NG+ with a relatively low-damage dex weapon was super satisfying.)
Also, Smough's armor is more of a meme IMO, while Ornstein's armor is actually pretty cool (I still probably wouldn't main it though lol). Oh, and Ornstein drops a ring if you kill him last, but it's for kind of specialized builds (thrust weapons specifically, and its effects are highly timing-dependent).

You did very well against them! It's definitely a good idea to grind for levels every now and then, fighting them at the normal level range for the area is rough.
One small but important tip that I don't think has been said yet, you can drink multiple Estus Flasks without doing the full animation for each one! If you press the button a second time after the first gulp heals you, it'll give you another one without the startup animation.
