    Hi Andy, very, very nice I've kind of wanted one of these myself. 1953 to 1981 don't forget the SR class 70 and 71 were able to use DC overhead 😅 although it probably amounted to less than 2 miles in all 😂

      These were always a little off the radar, dare we say that's what birthdays are for? lol

    Nice loco, we live near the Woodhead line and part of the electric gantry is still in situ. There's a video idea! Of course these were designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, the line closed in 1981 and the newer tunnel now houses National Grid power cables. (so no unsightly pylons) Happy birthday. 🍺🍺

      Cheers Rick, I've seen some film where the panto's were really extended way up, such a shame it's no more. Good news is that Christmas has provided it's sibling, class 77!! Happy new year to you both. Andy. 🌭

    Hi Andy, just liked and subbed, I also have a class 76, as well as the EM2, which is the larger version, intended for passenger traffic, they do run superbly, although, unfortunately, I don't have a layout at the moment, as we've just moved house, but I'll be starting a new one before long, anyway, take care, all the best from Scotland, Stephen.

      Hello Stephen, thanks for the sub. A slow burner on the wants list for some time. Got the Class 77 for Xmas in similar paint scheme and will video soon. Good luck with the new layout, hope to see it take shape. ATB, Andy.

    Hi Andy. Great video. Although electric locomotives are not my thing, it was nice to see the class 76 run round. Keep up the good work. Best wishes, Mark.

      I think it's the odd factor that gives it the appeal, soon to be joined by the class 77!🌭

    Had my black Heljan EM1 since they came out. Faultless runner on DCC. Also have a green one which i dropped. The bogie fell out and broke part of the cardan shaft. Managed to reassemble but it was a nightmare. Still runs ok just…. They dont come up often so rare id think. Nice one👍

    Another great video of a unique loco !!! One question you may be able to help me with: Why are early British freight cars so short compared to European cars?

    • @hotdogpilot6319
      @hotdogpilot6319  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it was down to the extent of "automation" to deal with the loads. Most was handled with manual labour and I think it took time to decide on standard size of wagons. It progressed, but I don't think at the same rate as European cousins.

    Bit of a continental look to that one

    Hi Andy. That is certainly a handsome loco. Have Heljan lived up to their (bad) reputation, or did you get one of their rare decent models (I hope the latter)? I watch most of Sam's Trains videos and seen so many disappointing reviews; I swore I would never buy one of their models. This turned out to be an empty threat as I model in N gauge, but Heljan don't make any models in N gauge (009, yes - but that's not my bag).

    • @hotdogpilot6319
      @hotdogpilot6319  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, they don't do well with steam loco's is true and do tend to design things ...differently. It's a reliable runner, good livery well applied and nothing has dropped off. Can't test it under wires but I suspect the panto would lean back on contact if it was. The motor gets noisy at high speeds with a noticeable rumble in common with Heljans. The directional lights are pre-l.e.d. so not brilliant. They have captured the character though and at slow speeds it's a delight and as a present, I'll take it. ATB, Andy.

      It's a Hornby R60088 BR (ex LMS) S&T Chester Brake van Sion. I saw this one at GETS and haven't seen one since, not even at Warley!! Any buildings are plastic or resin so they don't warp due to shed life.
