Chris your videos are life! Literally. Just plain, simple and right to the point. No BS products and no sugar coating, equals perfection! Thank you!
You are a living testament to your mother’s wonderful parenting! May she rest well💚🦋💐
I'm just writing to mention an idea. It seems like there must be a way to build up a small amount of calloused skin in the problem areas of where there is skin thinning. This might help provide protection from skin tearing.
Calloused skin is actually pretty interesting. It's dead skin cells that form on top of the living skin, and forms thick, hard, and dry areas of skin. This is the opposite of very thin skin which is thin, soft, and very moist. It's like a piece of cardboard, if you wet the cardboard paper it just falls apart and tears super easily. This seems to be similar to dangerously thin skin, it's very soft and moist and just tears apart way too easily.
There must be a way to systematically condition the skin in problem areas and build up a slight amount of callousing of the skin that provides just enough protection against scrapes, cuts, and tearing. Callouses are formed by pressure and friction. The well known example is people developing callouses on their finger tips from playing guitar and the guitar strings pressing very hard into their finger tips and creating hard callouses in that area. I'm experimenting now with using a credit card and pressing the edge heavily against the back of my hand allover, and I'm trying to see if I can develop a very moderate amount of callousing of the skin there.
There might be other more efficient ways to create calloused skin in problem areas. I've seen people mention a bucket of coarse sand and running the hands all throughout the sand to let it run against the skin abrasively and condition and toughen the skin. Would some kind of very mild sponge or scouring pad rubbed against the skin help condition and thicken the skin by forming a moderate amount of callouses?
Recently my dad and I begin to talk about how his skin is tearing more and more. So I greatly appreciate this video!
Now I know micro-needling has been helping my skin, along with the fact that I'm also doing some of the things you suggested in this video for my 57 year old skin. I just wasn't sure how well that would work for him because his skin is so thin, fragile and tearing so often.
Sometimes we don't even know how it happened or that it happened until we see the blood, that's how fragile and thin his skin has become.
My dad and I have always been close, but since my mom passed away 11 months ago my dad and I have become closer than ever. He was always a wonderful husband, wonderful father and he does so many wonderful things for so many people, so I just want to be able to help him with this one thing he cannot seem to figure out how to fix. So just like you helped your mother, I want to be able to help my father.
Thank you once again and if you have any more ideas or suggestions on how to help his thinning skin I would greatly appreciate it!🍃💗🍃

@@RobertF-Sand is highly abrasive!😮
I was thinking of one of those soft face scrubbing pads or even a super fine grit flexible sanding pad? (Lowes or Home Depot or Amazon) Or maybe just a dry washcloth?
You could keep it where you watch TV to remember to use it. Only frequent use causes callouses.
Great info.. I'll definitely pass it along as this isn't easy to find information!
Glad you found it helpful!
I love listening to you and appreciate the information you give us. I am 63 and have thinning skin. I’m sure most of it is from sun damage. I was a sun worshiper and have never used sun screen. It was never mentioned. We gardened, did lots of yard work, water skied, and soaked in all those rays. My arms arm, chest and face are the most damaged. I can bump my arm and my skin tears. I’m trying to be make sure I cover in sunscreen when I go out now. I’m also an insulin dependent diabetic , which I’m sure doesn’t help. Thank you so much for posting so many useful videos!
This video should be really helpful. Treatments are being developed so if you get to severe tearing, a dermatologist visit can be of great assistance.

This is only an issue on my lower arms and back of my hands. I do not have a bad diet & I am herbalist. I do not smoke, tan, etc... am a farm gal. I have so many skin tears all over the back of both hands. I do Not use chemical drugs. It must be organic and natural!
I'm 22 years old girl.but my hands look like 55-60 years old man.. not even like a woman. And I have this problem since my childhood. My school friends used to make fun of me. They used to call me old man. Whenever I wear pretty dress.. I always tend to hide my hands 😢...Nd now my facial skin is also looking very thin since I loose weight.. now my face also looks very older than my actual age. 😢

I have the same problem!
I'm in my twenties and I'm suffering from this at an advanced rate because of a genetic condition :/ but I keep out of the sun and I care for my skin like crazy so hopefully I can maintain what I have for a little longer.

@@RobertF- Surface level exfoliation does provide collagen stimulation and helps with skin turn over but my issues with thinning need to be addressed under the skin more than on top. I'm looking into radio frequency devices to thicken and increase collagen production to help reinforce a few areas discreetly. My decollete and the under side of my arms, and my inner thighs wouldn't really benefit from callousing and another complication of my condition is having less than ideal callous formation. Mine just peel off in sheets if they even get that far and I have permanent blisters on my ankles at this point
Apricot (my fav fruit) I feel so bad for you with your condition. I did find arm protection thru “cooling sleeves arm protectors” on Amazon. These sleeves block UV rays and help protect us from bumps & abrasions to our arm skin. I wore them under a long sleeve cotton shirt while working in my yard. I did get a small top layer mark/almost a scratch from a limb. That would have drawn blood had I not had the sleeves on. I love working outside and thought I would have to stop doing on of my fav things. Then I saw Chris Gibsons video on thinning skin. Now I apply creams with acids etc. to my arms 1-2 times a day.
The new UV blocking clothing works really well also. We worn some long sleeve shirts while at the beach in Florida & it was extremely comfortable. We thought the shirts would make us feel hot but we didn’t feel hot at all.
I hope my info & experience helps you with your condition. Good luck to you and all of us. Carol
I felt like I should buy myself about 10 more.

Your skin looks great
My 80 year old mother gets skin tears from thinning skin. It’s horrible. The wound size can be very large. Thank you for your information. It all makes sense.
Sorry for your mom, hope these pieces of advice helped!
So what treatment helped her?
My mother has the same... the wound is painful..also has swelling
Don’t allow hospitals to put tape on her. That was the worst. If she bumped her arm it would tear. We kept long sleeves on her and protected her as best we could. It was tough.
What helped me a bit was to do daily cardio and take a short shower with no soap. Just rinse off the sweat and end it with ice cold water for 30seconds. Make your skin contrast. Just focus on your breathing as you might start breathing quickly from a reflex
skin tears- so frightening. thank you for this video
I was taking a band-aid off yesterday and I tore my asking with my fingernail as I did. It sucks. Take care of your skin, I didn't when I was young.
It’s frustrating!! And pi$$es me off.
great information!
Glad it was helpful!
"Big problem for older folks but can happen in your 30s and 40s as well." That hit hard as I enter the 50s. Guess I'm an "older folk" now. haha.
I recently stumbled upon your channel...better late than never, right? I love the content and no nonsense approach. I am probably one of your more “mature” followers so my question is more about crepey skin on arms, legs. Would the same protocol work on other body parts? I would love it if you would do a video on keeping other body parts looking great as we age. Thank you Chris.
I have used (for years) and would recommend using a glycolic body wash in the shower followed by a glycolic body lotion. Works wonders!
Did you see the videos that came out on this....maybe time for me to do a new one 🤔
@@anononnlyes this is a great protocol!
I’ve used an Olay retinol product b4 and loved it. Great video. Thank you xx 😘
It's a good formulation!
Can I apply this to top of my feet? I
Used lotion with q10 and vitamin
C on feet with flats and 2 days later my skin thinned because only in this area is it tan and my veins are showing where they weren’t before. I stopped using this lotion. I was so upset that it doesn’t say use sun screen on bottle. I really want to fix this. How is this reversible?
Thank you! Your video followed one I viewed by Fifty Plus Beauty which showed benefits of 0.3 micro needling ( before/after). Your video really drives home the importance of preventing aging skin from painful damage. Thanks again for excellent info!
thank you for watching!
You did a great job of this video!
Thank you for providing such important and relevant info. I joined recently for myself but w hen I saw this video, I had to watch it for my mom who is concerned about this very issue. It is so helpful to know in advance for any gen.

@@CHRISGIBSONLIVE Thank you very much. Your information is valuable
Wonderful!! Thanks for posting this, Chris!
You're welcome!
Please explain how to layer these products
I am a 56 y/o red head with fair skin and I smoked for 25 years. I no longer smoke and I don't surf much now. I war sunbloc and sun sleeves when out riding my bike but I still get skin tears and bruise so easy on my forearms and back of my hands. I will try some of these things and talk to my Derm about the skin needling.
For thinning skin on my arms I started using the Gold Bond Strength and Resilience lotion after bathing. Just pat dry and apply. It really helped along with the hyper vigilant use of sunscreen. There isn't any fragrance, either, which is a bonus.
I’ll try it. Thanks
I had open heart surgery, and it did an absolute number on my skin
Omg😟So sorry about your mom's skin problem!🙏 Definitely will look into sunscreens👌
You’re the best!
This is great! Thanks
I absolutely ruined my skin from using a particular product for years. I had no idea the outcome would be thinning skin. I’m so sad. I’m only 30 and my skin is looking terrible because of it. But my skin is not thin to the point of it tearing, it’s just wrinkly in some areas and not as plump.
Which product you believe is the cause?
@@nouranatef3975 It's a product by Zein Obagi called "Pigment Control Cream," formerly known as "Melamin." The culprit ingredient: 4% hydroquinone. I was advised by my esthetician to put that cream under my eyes, despite the bottle clearly stating to avoid using it in that area. I took her word for it nonetheless because I was desperate to get rid of my dark circles. The dark circles faded slightly despite using it for years, but the skin got thinner and thinner, not just under my eyes but on my face as well because I used it in other areas. When I finally decided to stop using the cream, the dark circles came back, and I was left with thin skin from using such a harsh product for years. Another issue is that I didn’t use it sparingly; I applied it a lot throughout the week for years.
If I had used it correctly, I wouldn’t be in this position. I’d say it’s partly my fault and partly the esthetician’s fault.
Yes! Which product please?!,

I'm sure that if I had used it as directed on the bottle, it wouldn’t have been such an issue. However, I don’t believe hydroquinone should be used in large amounts for years.

Another excellent video Chris. Sharing your story about your mother also bring awareness to how bad thinning skin can be, I've always thought thinning skin was something simple and caused by over exfoliating, overuse of Retinol, and laser treatments. This is a very educational video.
Thank you for watching! It really does occur more so in the middle layer of skin. Sun damage is the main culprit, followed by alcohol, smoking, and medications. Your comments are much appreciated. 👍😎

@@RobertF- I was pondering that the other day. How womens skin gets thin with age, like the face or eyelid skin and they want to change it cosmetically.....couldnt you theoretically callous said skin to make it firmer? Maybe one day they might come out with a cream you can apply to thicken up certain areas without pressure or friction. Who knows, science should get onto it. There might be substances that can do it already? I've never looked into it but the idea seems sound enough. I don't think I'll be scrubbing my gran with a scouring pad anytime soon though.
Awesome video, very informative, 😊 thank you!

I have thinning and discoloration on the bridge of my nose which my dermatologist & I attributed to my diligent wearing of a mask throughout covid & at times currently. Micro needling and rolling will help thicken skin too.
Can you do this on hands and top of feet?

Great video, but the product names went by so fast I’m not sure I got them right. Is there a list somewhere?
in the video description youll find them. just click "more" below the video
Great video, thank you so much 🌟! Are there any devices that help? I hear a lot but have never tried anything (except LED briefly, it may have helped idk but it definitely gave me freckles so I only use it, with success 😁, for sore muscles now lol!)
The home microneedle rollers might be helpful since they are similar to the in offoce derm techniques...and anything that would improve circulation like a rose quartz roller ( Flawless Contour )
Hi Chris! Great video. So glad I found you. 😍 I have thin skin under neck affected from surgery scarring - is there anything you would particularly recommend for that? Would the same skin protocol apply for that? Thank you
Thanks for the info. Just wondering what to use on the body to prevent thin skin? Sunblock? Vit C?
So glad to have found your channel! I know this thread is a year old BUT i didnt see steps on which order to apply the products. I am trying to prevent this from continuing to happen to me as my mom suffers from thin skin and really bad rips 😢

Thank you Chris! Looking at you is motivating so I am listening to all that you teach & am slowly trying one item at a time.. but the inkylist collagen builder I alternate with the buffet from the ordinary- both easy & dont pill with products I’ve used so far! Thank you
What your thoughts on Near Infrared Light Therapy ? When you say "smoking", are you referring to Nicotine? Or ? Because e.g. vaping/chewing tobacco etc. can include nicotine also.
Serums and then retinol. What is the best way to apply all these products ?
Do you use serums first in am then sunscreen . Pm serums then retinol and hyaluronic acids.? Thank’s in advance.
Hi Chris, new subscriber from Aussie. Thank you for your video
Thank you for watching ❤
Great, Important information 🙏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏⚘
Hi Chris, i just stumbled onto your channel and kind of wishing I found you sooner😊 I'm 38, look 28 however every time I visit my dermatologist he keeps warning me that I have thin skin and need to do microneedling before I hit 40 and this has been a few years now. Seeing this now is giving me the push to finally go ahead with it😂 and will follow through on your list of recommended products. My question is about Vitamin C, other than eating vitamin C rich foods, would you recommend a vitamin C supplement? If so what dose?
Another great video, Chris. Do you mean these are products which help and you choose which one you want to apply, or does it mean use all of them daily? If that’s the case, could you please reply giving the order in which they should be applied?
A badic routine for this would be applying peptides, then vitamin C serum AM and retinol in PM but never together. Followed by moisturizer ( and sunscreen during the day)
Do you put these on all at once and in what order?
Thanks for the info ❤
Thanks for your good video. Its hard to convince my husband, who has thin skin to use new products though! I will apply this info though. What's your opinion on argireline for forehead wrinkes? And how how long after using vitamin C product can I use this please?
Thank you!!
Thanks for the information
I have really thin skin on my forearms , the slightest bump and I have a huge bruise
Also it tears easily ..
Do the creams you’re referring to work on arms too ?
Hey Chris,my skin in the groin area has become really thin, which occurred due to the use of an antifungal cream.I left using it for more than a year but still the skin is thin and these days I'm having skin tearing. Can you please recommend a course of action to get it over with?
Look for products under the brand Emuaid or CeraVe for this. Gentle cleansing only and the one of the moisture products with 5 minutes to help your skin rebuild its moisture barrier over time.
Hey kaushik
Did ur skin quality improved?
I dont do any of those things. Never been big on sun. Though I did live in Florida for quite a few years. But I never was a sun fan at all. I have had alot of stress, bad diet and medications. No steroids.
Thanks a lot ♥️
You're welcome!
Hello Chris. I sincerely appreciate all the information you share with (me) and your audience. I have questions that I hope will take only a few seconds of your time to address.
I use the Olay 24 serum and cream on my face nightly. My husband and his father had the thin skin problem on their arms. Is this an appropriate product to use on arms? Is this an appropriate product for my daughter to use. I don’t know how face to arms would translate. Any information you share will be appreciated. Thanks.
Yes, it can be used that way. I use retinols on my arms, however you have to watch for any undue irritation.
Chris, the skin on my arms is so thin and tears very easy. My little dog jumps up and scratch's my arms and I bruise and bleed where his nails cut my skin. Can I use these products on my arms? Thank you for all you do and educating us.

Would some kind of very mild sponge or scouring pad rubbed against the skin help condition and thicken the skin by forming a moderate amount of callouses?
coconut oil is the best
For the face also?
For thinning skin?
Thank you chriss
Youre welcome
Just not sure, are all the products that you mentioned for the arms also? Could I just use my Retin A on my arms? What is your favorite for the arms?
I have thin skin only on my arms from the elbow down. Will these products work on my arms? Also, my shins look like alligator skin no matter what I do. Oils/lotions right out of the shower - within 2 hours it looks cracked. Any suggestions? FYI: I'll be 58 in a few months if that changes what you would recommend.
You are right to apply lotion to areas that are really dry quickly after a shower. And intuitively you are also right about using some of the same facial skin care ingredients for other areas. The key is is not costing a fortune in products! Hyaluronic acid moisturizer is a must for all these areas and Neutrogena just came out with a hyaluronic acid body gel. It's a Hydro Boost product. For thin skin peptides are a must first and any of the formulations from The Ordinary or Inkey List collagen booster will be helpful and cost effective. Also, for the legs a alpha hydroxy acid lotion as a last step can work wonders...check out Alpha Skin Care's AHA Body Lotion.👍😎
Like you I’m the same with the alligator skin, but starting at the end of last year, what I have found to really help combat that issue is while I’m still in the shower, before I dry off, I apply an oil. Applying it while your skin is damp is key. I happen to like a brand called Osea (Ulta carries it). It is cruelty free, Vegan, and gluten free, and made in the USA. I’m 55 and have dealt with this my entire life. Good luck, I hope this helps you.
If you're menopausal/post-menopausal, oestrogen cream ill help. Might be side-effects, but it will help.
Take omega3 capsules and B Complexes best from beef liver and also focus on probiotics along side.
What about the arms and legs 🙂
Thank you 🙏🏼
This works everywhere this would be an issue. 👍

Thank you for your response , may I ask another question if you have the time .
What is your opinion /advice on if the vitamin c suspension or other products etc , be able to penetrate if I have used a sugar scrub on my body ?
I love to use a sugar scrub but I wonder if the Shea leaves too heavy a film for other products to be effective/ penetrate?
Unfortunately for myself the most drying out product. Is hylaronic acid. Ive tried so many varieties. It literally sucks out any moisture in my skin.
So far my thigh skin is super sensitive many products irritate/itch including Vit C .. so far my best product is “the Necessaire body serum”
Do you suggest to use the “hydro boost” product you mentioned on the body as a preventative?
Thanks
What oder do you apply the products?
I’m wondering what products you recommend for thin skin on arms / legs? It would take so much of those products with one application to cover arms and legs. And there is not much in each container.
There are products designed for this... StriVectin just came out with Crepe Control for Body, and of course there is Crepe Erase. For body it's about peptides and ceramides...which these formulations have. Hope that helps!
@@CHRISGIBSONLIVE great idea. I’ve seen those products. Thanks.
I have the same question, but the replies will not display. Keep getting the rotating circle like it's trying to show, but nothing does.

@@CHRISGIBSONLIVE Crepe erase doesn’t work for ME.
What about smokeless tobacco use?
What about doing micro needle rollers used at home? If the skin is thin, but not tearing.

What do you think of light fraxel laser?

I’ve always heard that smoking causes skin thickening??? So does it make it thinner or thicker? I know that’s just what I’ve always heard. Just wanted to ask bc I want to know for sure. 🙏❤️🙏 Thank you!
Smoking makes skin thinner and makes people look older.
Should I use the Olay 24 retinol serum on hands one night and rotate with Neutragena Hydroboost and peptide serum on hands and top of feet? Plus use sun screen in these areas?

Very informative pls tell me can I use Olay vitamin c b3 serum on my thin skin but I suffered also of red green veins on my face pls I trust u pls help me
Yes, the b3 would be helpful as are all the steps in the video...also including collagen peptides in your diet would be helpful.
I need something that will thicken my hands n help with wrinkles on my fingers n knuckles. What can I do for that?
Hi Chris I have a retinol from the ordinary can I use that on my thin skin? N do I put water on my hands then put the squalene on my hands n or face??
Can one improve acne scars with creams
Can the inkeyllist peptides be used around eye area?
Yes.
I'm 22 but facing this
Also,,,,,,,, since these products are all in little tiny jars, bottles, or tubes, is there anything that comes in larger quantities that we can use on arms or wherever? It would VERY expensive to apply to face and arms daily or twice daily. Thanks again!!!
You certainly would not choose all the products listed as severs are different options. Example The Inkey List Collagen Booster or The Olay Peptides...not both. These two are also examples of fairly inexpensive products that will help spur and restore collagen production. Using the for the arms, backs of hands, and face you should still get a months use. I wish there were lager versions of many products.
Skincare brands are beginning to address the quantity issue for body products containing these ingredients. Neutrogena now has a Hydro Boost body lotion with the hyaluronic acid I recommend. I hope this is helpful.
@@CHRISGIBSONLIVE Thank you so much for the quick reply!!!

Your clothing protects your body but your face is open to sun damage. It's obvious
I have this on my arms, really bad. Also when you held up that skin cream, something 3000, I could not read it. You put it up & down too fast. Would like to know what the product was. Thanks.
