Kind of mad about this after Wahoo sent me an email saying there was update to my bike (no mention of v1/2). I paid $4000 US 3 years ago for the thing and it apparently isn't getting updates anymore. I have to assume it's for technical reasons, despite the v2 seeming like a small update.
There hasn't been a firmware update for the V1 since the launch of the V2. Meanwhile the 2016 version of the ELEMNT computer got a software update as recently as this month.. Leaving the early supporters of the v1 bike that costs 10x the amount of the bike computers with no updates.
I thought sort would be more useful to be honest. Example: sort by most aero or the lightest products in a certain category. Take the guess work / research out of what item I should buy next. That way I can just sort and buy the most expensive item I can afford for the levels I have unlocked.
Amen for the bike switch option. Call it the Bike Shed. And the smoothing to the gradient was something I was going to log on the forum. Looks like a 1s smoothing with is fine. Good job.
it is really disappointing that Wahoo doesn't update the V1 Bike. Such an expensive bit of equipment that is meant to last years should not be left out, its bad customer support in this case.
That might have something to do with the available space in the firmware. The Kickr core was also running into that limit for some features I remember. It's a bummer, but I don't think Wahoo can change that

Hey Shane! Been asking Zwift for this through their forums, maybe you can put a request in. How difficult would it be to add a field to where it shows somewhere to other Zwifters as an option to show them how long you been a dang Zwifter, this would be helpful to show others how much one has accomplished in the time frame they been Zwifting! Thanks for all you do!
Wahoo seems to have abandoned support for the Kickr V5 and Kickr Bike V1. No virtual shifting support for the former, no new firmware upgrade for the latter.

RIP the Wahoo KICKR BIKE V1.. I asked Wahoo about getting this firmware update for the V1: "We have reviewed the hardware and firmware capabilities of KICKR BIKE V1 (2019). Unfortunately, this older model is unable to support the required protocol for expanded Zwift controls and will not be receiving a future update for this functionality." I asked what makes the V1 not compatible with the Zwift protocol and they said "I am unable to provide a more detailed technical explanation. However, I am happy to pass along your feedback to our product team for consideration. I apologize for any inconvenience." A little annoyed that V2 came out and then Wahoo stopped creating firmware updates for the V1 immediately. Very disappointed that Wahoo isn't supporting it anymore when they will release firmware for the original ELMENT computers from 2016 as recently as this month. Still love the bike and have no need to upgrade to a new one. I would love to see more videos on the lifespan of products. Many videos created at launch but less holding companies accountable for the e waste they create when they no longer support their creations.
I'll say it here as I've said elsewhere: Absolutely unforgivable to drop support for the KICKR Bike V1 at this point. This isn't a $200 smart watch. Something this expensive should be supported through the reasonable lifetime of the unit. Mine's still under warranty, even, and Wahoo is still selling refurb units. There's no valid excuse. This is putting Wahoo firmly on my "Do not do business with" list.
One option that was removed a short while ago that I miss, was the ability to size the tiles on the Home screen. I use a 55in screen, I could see all the tiles I needed, now I have to scroll around.

No more wahoo products for me, kickr 18 fails and replacements, tickr fails less than a year due to sweat, now they won't update my V1 bike. No more of my money.

The update of the Kickr Bike is super cool. Sadly, at the moment, you cannot connect to the bike controller and the Zwift Play controllers simultaneously (which was possible before).
So indieVelo is no longer free and paired with Training Peaks? Good I can dump iV off my PC now, makes my decision to stay with Zwift that much easier...
IndieVelo was never intended to be free for ever, and George was quite transparent about that. He stated that it would be free during the Beta period, but after that things might change. In the end, George has to be paid for his work too, and nothing is ever free. On social media you pay with your data, on most websites you pay with data and ads. Others use a subscription. If you pay annually for TP, it's "only" 10 bucks per month, and a lot cheaper than Zwift. I'm probably still stay on Zwift, but I'll keep an eye out. The performance verification on IndieVelo is top notch, and especially for eRacing you'll have a lot less cheaters that way.
If you pay for the year it equates to 10 dollars a month. Which is half the cost of Zwift. So you get the Training Peaks data magic and indieVelo, not free but still extremely cheap in the scheme of virtual riding
@@gplama Fair point, I was an RGT orphan with 12 months free Zwift and iV was my Plan B if I didn't like Zwift(I used iV for 3 weeks after RGT)... now that I've grown to like Zwift I won't go back to iV now... (If they introduced "Magic Roads" I'd reconsider that though!)....
@@brianwhite9 Yep, probably a great deal if you are happy with an utilise both. For me TP has no value, and indoor training is a way of getting through the "dead zone" of the next 4-5 months here in the Scottish Highlands. Disappointed that Wahoo hasn't given any love to the original kickr bike. Wish they would also give us an update.
Shame that virtual gearing cannot be software controlled like IndieVelo does so all trainers can benefit
How is it that the most expensive of trainers are last to get any updates. I love my kickr bike, but this is just shameful on wahoo.
