This is exactly the type of video I needed when I got my Tonex one pedal. No clue why IK Multimedia didn’t do a video like this themselves, but luckily we have channels like yours. Thank you!
I believe this is the 1st video showing how one creates an amp, but then drags to the pedal. A simply process, but nobody shares the simple stuff so it's hard to learn. So thanks for sharing.
These are the kinds of videos we need! Please do the same kind of video for the actual pedal. If you could touch on input trim settings, that would be helpful. I keep adjusting it and cant seem to find a sweet spot that fits well with all of the presets I have.
Yes please make more Tonex videos for beginners like you did with the Katana series. I bought a Tonex for Christmas and tried it out and it sounded nothing like your video. I am going to give it another try after work today after seeing you explain it. Thanks Paul!
That Two Rock profile sounds incredible!!! I finally decided to give the Tonex and profiling a try. I have a Tonex One out for delivery right now. After i mess around with it long enough to fully understand it, im heavily considering buying your profile pack.
Nice one mate I bought the regular Tonex pedal partly based on The Studio Rats reviews. The presets aren't great but some of the 'paid for' captures are astounding. I love mine for home use and gigging. Good luck with yours.
Thanks Paul, great video as usual. I presume that the audio settings are only on the Standalone Version and not the VST plugin. Whenever I follow along with your tuts Paul I always get the sound I like. Thanks for all the vids.
Great demo! It’s funny that every tonex video I watch it seems to have a lot of mid range and not a lot of high end presence. Then I realised that I’m coming from the HX platform where the default impedance is very low and most IR’s default to having a lot in the 15-20k range. Haha it’s just funny that my ears are used to digital amps whereas the tonex platform is clearly a better representation of a real amp which I’ve sadly not had to mic for years!!
Sunday Sounds at beginning. very nice, I just got the ONE and im struggling with Feedback and levels live. I just have a disconnect with the software its difficult use with presets and saving. This video helped so THANKS RATS!!
Paul I bought the tonex pedal recently This video was really helpful In introducing me to the software . I’ve just been enjoying the pedal presets ( snatched practice time as usual!) Thank you 👍🙏
Nice job Paul. I think we'd all be very interested as to how you would set up tonex pedal live. Incidentally, your Independence pack was the reason I bought the pedal. Killer tone!
I am hoping that you will do a capture pack of the Amplified Nation "Steel String Singer" for Tonex, especially the normal channel. I will be getting my Tonex One tomorrow and look forward to tring some of your patches. Thanks.
Hello Paul.. An interesting idea would be to run the pedal into a neutral flat poweramp ( SD Powerstage?) and mic a real cab. I haven't seen this video from anyone yet. I am awaiting a Tonex One pedal to show up on my step. That is how I am going to try it as well. Thanks
New Tonex One user here. I’ve experimented a bit with turning the cab sims off and going into the fx return of my tube amps. What I’ve learned initially is that I got pretty awful results if the capture I’m using had a cab sim included, because the Tonex sort of “guesstimates” what element the cab sim was playing. I haven’t yet used any of the cab only captures (that require an IR of some sort when running direct into my computer), but I expect these to perform much better into the fx return of my amps. Will report back when I’ve got some results.
Great if you can do a more in depth on tone x one as personally after buying one people who have made videos about it don’t go into how to connect what you can connect too. I have a 5150 combo does it plug into return of send / return ..? Thanks love your videos.
I’m a bit love/ hate with Tonex at the moment. Great potential but sooo many variables , especially when you get into buying captures etc. Gain settings so crucial to the sound from captures and I feel that is where IK should have set a ‘ standard’ of some kind - would have helped greatly with consistency. Out of interest how do you set the gain on your interface? What do you think of the ‘ leave your interface input gain at zero and adjust in the program/ app idea’? I’ve done it this way since getting my Boss GT1000, couldn’t see why I was raising input levels and resetting for every guitar , carried this over to my audio interface.
Love the tone x I so want to get my sound city first year run concord to you to try and model... It sounds absolutely beautiful, very two rock without the compression
Hi Paul, It would be great if you would do a ‘getting the most out of your ToneX pedal’ video. It would also be great to know when you are recoding with it, do you go into the instrument, line, or mic input on your interface. And why you chose to build a recording board around it, rather than use the plugin. Many thanks
Tonex Pedal Video? for some reason I get a totally different sound from the pedal than I do the PC app. I set my trim out to an OK setting. I get seem to get the same gain input the audio demo has
I love your captures but i wish the tonex sofware would recognise the packs i bought from your website as owned packs , they show up as to buy on the software even though i have them loaded in tonex and can use them
Hi Paul, just bought the tonex anni pedal, the new effects do not work, the bottom half of the screen does not make sense, totally confused by this unit, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Love your guys channel and appreciate all the tonex help it's given. Is there anyway to see how much hard drive space tone net model downloads are taking up or are most of the downloads pretty small?
I have a Tonex One and using the software of the amps included and it is very noisy. I don’t know what’s the problem. I also have soldano 100 plugin which is a lot better noicewise
Excuse me, I have a question...... I can't do "real time" monitoring in Tonex ONE, I'm doing it by the software parameters, then I save the presets to my pedal, my question is : when I'm playing it sound a bit different, and I adjust it straight from the pedal, so..... how can I save those presets ??? I know the pedal have auto saving, but how can I do it to keep those settings in the software ? TY
I love the sound of your new Amplified Nation tone packs. They sound amazing. What set up would you recommend to get the best sound and feel in the room? I love the way Tonex sounds through my headphones, but I don’t like the way it sounds through my studio monitors. I’m thinking to try a power amp and a real cab. What would you recommend? Thanks!
I know this wasn't a question aimed at the wider audience, but I't just though it throw in my thought from my own experience. I spent months using the Tonex through a clean power amp and an orange 2x12 cab. It's great if you only want a handful of amps that work well with that one cabinet but the speaker has such a massive influence on the sound that all your profiles end up just sounding kinda the same. I also tried the line 6 power cab but in the end I came to the conclusion that a decent set of studio monitors aimed straight at our face just sounds better than what is essentially one big monitor on the floor. After month of chasing the whole amp in the room thing Ive totally leaned into paying through studio monitors and all I really needed to do was just low cut and high cut and that was enough to make it sound more natural and cab like. Might be worth playing with that as a starting point. I use the Tonex pedal into a HX effects with a low and high cut block
Please sell me that fender 😢 no matter how much I set up my guitar the intonation sounds horrible!! It’s so painful everytime I play how do you get it so perfect???
I have a few digital processors softwares (Amplitube 5, Guitar Rig 7, Bias FX 2, Bias Pedal and Bias Amp, Tonex) they all sounds great for recording using my Studio One 6 DAW, but sound like crap when connecting to a real amplifier for live performance. I use iRig HD 2 and have already tried using my amp Send/return to go to iRig and from iRig just to the return bypassing the preamp. They sound better, but very far from a good quality effect multi-effect pedal. Is there a way to really make it work great ? Can Tonex Capture improve the quality considering its impedance corrections ? is it a good solution for real performance in a real amp ? I've heard also about Headrush powered speakers that was made for that (in this case not using a real amp, but the Headrush as the amp/ Please, help me because I've spent a good money trying to solve this issue.
If you're going to run your tonex into an amps Loop return, make sure you're using a DI capture (as in one that doesn't have a baked in cabinet), and make sure any cabinet is disabled. Some captures are made as an amp plus cab, in that you cannot turn off the cabinet. Those kind of captures cannot be used because you will have two instances of a cabinet and it will sound terrible
Isn't it better to put the compressor after the amp?, in that way we let all the transients into the amp to have more dynamics especially on edge of breakup tones and in that way we also emulate studio recordings, most iconic studio sounds have a compressor AFTER the amp has been captured to polish the sound without affecting transients on the amp circuit Also, when calibrating input levels is better to aim at 18dB of headroom as that's the level most modelers are calibrated, setting input levels too hot (right before clip) is not a good tip as that'll cause clean captures to sound distorted with less headroom, when we play into an amp the input level, the sensitivity, is fixed and we should aim to do the same on modelers so when we switch guitars we have a better representation of that amp in real life as we can't change input levels on amps, it's NOT the same as "volume" input on an amp neither "master" volume
Pre and post compression are completely different things. I am not going to add post compression to a tone, as IF needed that would be done at the mix stage.
My ToneX never sounds anything like the demos, including this one. Adjusting the Input Trim doesn't help. All of this bright and chimy tones sound wooley and veeery low midrange heavy for me even with my guitar in coilsplit mode (single coil)
demo number 39585245677633 i have seen where the guy very very very lightly strums on the clean channel then strums hard on the distortion channel and nothing in between, drives me nuts
This is exactly the type of video I needed when I got my Tonex one pedal. No clue why IK Multimedia didn’t do a video like this themselves, but luckily we have channels like yours. Thank you!
Glad it helped!

For the simple reason they know people will review it for free

yes more content on the pedal please! great video
Great timing. I just bought a ToneX One

It’s so true! I bought the tonex because it’s supposed to sound like a real miced amp, then I realise I’ve forgotten what that sounds like!
Sunday Sounds at beginning. very nice, I just got the ONE and im struggling with Feedback and levels live. I just have a disconnect with the software its difficult use with presets and saving. This video helped so THANKS RATS!!

In introducing me to the software . I’ve just been enjoying the pedal presets ( snatched practice time as usual!)
Thank you 👍🙏
Love the video Paul, especially how the compressor works in general with Tonex or anything, I never understand the details on how that affects tone 🙌🏻
Bloomin’ great vid Paul - so informative! 👏🏻
Thanks my bald brother
More tutorials on getting best from the Tonex software
Many thanks
Kimball
Will do!
Thank you Paul. Took yours and James advice and got the tonex. Getting around that software makes me pull my hair out. This really helps thx
Great to hear!
Nice job Paul. I think we'd all be very interested as to how you would set up tonex pedal live. Incidentally, your Independence pack was the reason I bought the pedal. Killer tone!
Your sir have the best Tonex packs, I absolutely love the matchless and just got the Soldano and wow
Glad you like them!
Brill this Paul. Just what I needed to get going. 👍🏻
Thanks Paul! Very helpful. I would vote for a pedal video. Cheers!
I am hoping that you will do a capture pack of the Amplified Nation "Steel String Singer" for Tonex, especially the normal channel. I will be getting my Tonex One tomorrow and look forward to tring some of your patches. Thanks.
Always appreciate your note and chord selection. Appreciate the info as well. 👍

7:11 how does this translate to the pedal's input trim?
I’m a bit love/ hate with Tonex at the moment.

And good luck finding another one !
Still need deeper dive, i.e. pedal board placement, where would an EQ pedal go, before or after the tonex pedal etc...

Thanks for all your videos. I would like to see how to interact between the Tonex and Amplitube if possible.

Ya, my biggest complaint on the tonex pedal is the clipping and headroom. I’m still trying to find the right amount live it seems like.
Cheers, tonex captures are tiny, I’m not sure how to see how much space they use but they’re so tiny I wouldn’t worry
Thank you, this was very helpful! Great work!
I have a Tonex One and using the software of the amps included and it is very noisy. I don’t know what’s the problem. I also have soldano 100 plugin which is a lot better noicewise
Are there any advantages to having the pedal over using the software, other than a pedal to stomp on?
Excuse me, I have a question...... Hi i would like to Hear your take on the valeton gp 200.
Your packs are GREAT!!!
Cheers
Hey Paul, do you ever plan to do DI capture packs? Amp+Cab captures in comparison for use with power amp & speaker cab are not that great.
Oh my, sounding great!!!!
Are you adding any preamp gain from your audio interface ?
Are you using studio monitors or a fr cab for sound?
Any reason you're using an interface instead of using the interface built into the tonex?
Is it possible to demo presets before purchasing them (through the tonex software).
Yes you can on tonenet
I don’t see these menus on my iPad. Version. Not seeing a way to download and add your two rock etc packs to this.
The ipad version is fairly behind the PC/Mac version. It also does not support uploading profiles to a Tonex pedal.
@@wootks wonderful, well that means I’ll have to get a laptop

Yea and yes
