Jon. Sorry to change the subject, But you Really need to get the Twisted Hobbies 42" EDGE 540 XL. Absolutely Phenomenal Airplane. It really is the Best of all worlds for 3D. NO Gyro needed. @@rambofpv4402 No. But I have built 7 of them. Not cheap in price. But if you build them well. Just did the Maiden on mine this morning. This thing is so locked in. So precise. Hopefully you'll be the first Pilot to do a side by side comparison between this and the Extra 300. I'm sure the Extra 300 is a great one also. I should have bought the Extra when it was less than $300. Hope to see that comparison soon.
Hey Jon. I did get the ERATIX. Loved it. Incredible airplane. Had over 250 flights on it. Then it got Sucked into a Magnetic Light Pole. The End. Only complaint after around 200 flights is the black Landing Gear mount where it criss crosses at the fuselage. Got sloppy loose. Airframe fly's incredible. On the Frail side though. Going to move all the Electronics over to the 28" Twisted Hobbies EDGE 540. With Spoilerons. Learned that from you.
I've wanted one of these for a few months now. I got talked into a crack laser, which is fun, but I could see the wings flexing during turns. I heard this was heavier and perhaps more easily broken, (because of the FPP foam) but I bought one yesterday, put it together last night and flew it today. It's pretty early to tell, but I think this may be my favorite plane. I thought it would be significantly bigger than the laser (lite), but it's only a couple of inches wider and longer. It's much more precise and I like that it's a little heavier, because the wind never seems to stop where I fly.
It's a ton of fun. Not as capable as a Twisted plane but still very enjoyable and spare parts can be bought for it too. We'll be rereviewing it very soon!

Thanks for a great video. I actually bought this plane two weeks ago. I've flown it about seven times now. And I'm just not getting the 3D control that I'm looking for. Nothing like I'm seeing in your videos. Granted, I don't have your skill set but this plane just doesn't seem like it's set up right. Can you tell me what expo settings and things like that I need to set up on my NX6 transmitter?
150% rates (you'll need to unlock and reprogram the receiver to get it, search for "unlock AR637TA"on TH-cam) and 50% expo across the board is all we're using here. Skill is part of it, but a lot of it is just setting the model up to perform.

Hi Jon. I just bought the Eratix. I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the CG position, based on the manual. Based on the words alone, it would seem the recommended CG is 84mm from the root. Am I correct in assuming they consider the root of the wing to be right next to the fuselage? The diagram would suggest otherwise, hence my confusion.
I love my multiplex Extra 330sc indoor! This E-flight model looks stronger.. looks like it's made of epp foam? I use mine to practice prop hanging & knife-edge flight

I broke one of the arms in the same place at least 5 times, super glued and still flying. When we visit my daughter in Durham I usually drive over to Hangar 18.
So satisfying to watch you fly 3d as per usual. I saw in another comment you switched the servos to the turbo timber servos. Are these available for purchase? And are they fast and responsive? A big thing for me that makes these flat foamies so fun to fly 3d is responsiveness. Thanks Happy Thanksgiving!
They're responsive enough, we saw no difference from the stock servos in terms of speed. It wasn't by choice, Jon just banged the model while it was powered and it stripped servos. Happens sometimes. The A370 servos are what you're looking for on Horizon's site.
Maiden my Eratix today. Flew great, but….. the rudder servo stripped out while taxiing back. Kinda wonder why Eflite used cheap 8 gram plastic geared servos for the rudder and elevator
The stock servos are totally fine for basically anything you want to do. Just don't ram the control surfaces into something while the plane is powered, otherwise the servo will strip.

I've been flying for quite a while, but I can't get the hang of hovering. I bought the Eratix and as you say it does fly nice. When I get it up into a hover, it wing rocks and falls out of the hover. Do you use dual rates and what is your expo. I'm flying with a Spektrum Ix20. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I try to vary my power and it just climbs.
Hey I have troubles flying without safe and I get nervous without it. I have an eratix forgetting about that. Do you have any tips for getting out of safe. And overcoming the anxiety?
The only way to get through anxiety is to face what you're afraid of and keep at it. The Eratix is easy to fly, so take it up high and practice with it and get used to flying it. Once you're around 100 feet up, take it out of SAFE and use SAFE if you get disoriented. You'll quickly get accustomed to it.

Yeah, it's possible. The beginning section had a tight KE loop.
Nice video Jon. Did you have to unlock the 630 to get the 150% throws?...or just make the changes in fwd programming?
Horizon sent us a PnP to review and provided the AR630. No unlocking was needed, but a BnF receiver will require it to get 150% rates.

AR630 sorry I should’ve watched before commenting 😂🎉
I think i will save myself 200 dollars and just watch you fly. YAY!
👀
But can it also fly like a regular trainer tho? Or its only flying with its propellor up
Yes, but it's not designed for that - it's meant to be flown like a 3D model, meaning it should be performing post-stall maneuvers.
Did you mod the as3x stuff on this plane?
Nope.
Great flying!
Awesome plane looks great and flys very well
For me the question is - As it can fly so slowly could a novice flyer manage it for regular type flying.
Absolutely, a novice pilot should be able to enjoy this model.
Great video. Provides a lot of useful information 👍🏼
I wanna see some snap rolls and some blenders and twist Topps.....I wanna see if the airframe stays solid or not.....pretty please
You did do a slower snap roll after I commented that but I wanna see how it handles little bit faster 3d manuevers
