Today we take a look inside two very different generations of Kenwood products, LS-711 from 1990 and a LS-N553 from the year 2000, Both came with systems such as the UD-7 music used- open.spotify.c...

Awesome. Good to see you around! I remember when i used to watch your goofy speaker stuff as a teenager. I still remember one video out of ordinary where you folks had to clean up that shed because you destroyed everything during wild night of drinking. I would love to ask if that video is still around?
This speaker is awesome !!! 2 seconds later : *smashes speaker with a hammer* 😂😂 actually the last speaker wasnt bad at all , the cabinet wasnt really high quality but the speakers where good.
baklap141 nice I gave my brother some kef Q50 towers since my brother takes care of his stuff so well... but I got stuck with the Q70s they sound super natural👍
Yeah I like kef , they sound very good. Ive had them for a long time in my home studio as monitor speakers. At my home cinema I use for stereo Jean Marie Reynaud xo2 , I swear you ....somebody wanted to throw them in the trash when I walked by a second hand store. Only because the speaker foam edges where busted. I asked if I could have them and I got them for free. Did cost me 20 euros and 1 hour of work and those speakers are the best Ive had so far. I never heard about the brand , just very lucky I was there at the right time on the right place. Got them now like 10 years. I also like my krk 6s for my studio too but the xo2's are much much better and that while they where made in the 80s 😅. They have a very subtle but clear highs and very deep and very low bass response.
And tweter as well in new you have cheap piezzo and paper tweeter which sounds like ass old kenwoods do have nice dome tweeter which sounds 10000times better than new shit
@@basslover7869 Yes! And that is why I prefer vintage audio equipment over new. I have a pair of Fisher Studio Standards St-830's (profile pic) and they are the best sounding speakers I have ever owned in my entire life. I miss the old technology of 3-way and 4-way speakers with the big speakers like my fishers with 12 inch, 15 inch, and even larger woofers. I like those speakers the best bc they look beautiful, and they sound amazing and require less speakers compared to today's. Nowadays a "hifi" setup usually has some sort of subwoofer. But back in the vintage times, there was no sub woofer. Just a huge main woofer on each speaker. And I really like the old technology alot better than the subwoofer crap we have now.
Another good speaker spooking session!!!The plastic cone woofer put up a good fight!!!Besides high power amps-another great speaker spooking method is using a Variac.Just do the Twist To Oblivion!Speakers connected to the secondary of a 5Kw AM transmitter(RCA 5H)works well, too!A Clarion speaker was jumping around on the floor before it blew up.The modulator puts out 2.5Kw.Two 5762 tubes in PP.The mod transformer is large weighs in at about 400Lb.
You really remind me the movie character from the American Pie called "Steve Stifler". That might be one of the reasons why I have been watching your videos for so long.
I think that kenwood mini hifi system that those speakers are part of where considered high quality back in the day. That system was definitely not cheap if I remember right.
It’s sad how much better Kenwood was back in the day compared to now. I have a set of Kenwood floor speakers from the 90s, and they sound a lot better than I thought they would.
12:24 It has tensel leads on both sides of the spider to prevent rocking! Even if it's a single voice coil it's better to have another non powered on the other side
I just bought a pair of LS-711s for like $20 and to add a little bit of fun factor I used a $14 200W stereo amp on them (lvpin). They sound just ok...... I use them primarily for fun
No specific reason, I can cuss all I like however the amount of cussing I do depends on my current level of aggravation, What is important about how I cuss is the context, And ive become the fucking master of casually cussing
Yeah, the treble in the newer one was a little less accurate sounding, probably partly due to the use of a bass blocker instead of a crossover. However, cone tweeters, if designed well, can be as good as domes. I feel like the port might have been tuned a bit lower on the newer one, however it had some reverb in the bass, due to the thinner box and the lack of acoustic foam on the inside. For a cheap mini system speaker, they both sounded pretty good though. Some of the Aiwa stuff was also surprisingly good. I have an Aiwa with a crossover and thick box.
The 90s definitely saw some good audio products
Not as many, especially from these bigger brand names. Companies like Polk and Paradigm did some good budget stuff.
The older one does look pretty nice
You aren’t wrong you could just replace the drivers for really good ones and then use ur music to test them lol
@@WM22 you'd probably need replace crossover components and brace the cabinet probably not worth it at that point, unless you really want to

That older one is actually kind of worth getting a set and making some nice audio monitors out of. I'm impressed.
You should make a tour of your room setup!

Dome tweeter in a midrange bookshelf system speaker? Now that's quality
I love how 10 seconds after saying "This thing is awesome", your taking a 5 pound sledge to it!!!! YOU SIR ARE AWESOME!!!!!
I never seen a plastic speaker that was that high quality before on the older Kenwood
I have a set Kef coda 8's and are basicly made the same and sound really decent. Having plastic parts doesnt tell if a speaker is good or bad.

Wow, the old one far exceeded my expectations. Damn shame you didn't have the other one.
I am only 24 seconds in and I can just bet the 90's speaker sounds better and is better quality. Just look at that enclosure and woofer!

That last Kenwood even had a real crossover not capacitors
4:25, cant trust my eyes anymore. that piezo tweeter behind that dome.
Somehow stumbled upon your channel again, I watched you when I was in grade school over a decade ago. Glad to see you still upload 😂
They made good stuff then

the part that made me laugh is this 2:47😂🤣😂😂🤣
My choice of car head unit has always been Kenwood.
This is how you know Kenwood was high quality.
They probably thought it was going to be judgement day while making the 2000's speakers. The quality difference is crazy!
wow there is a huge difference in quality between those 2 speakers.
9:00 sounds kinda like sad song
yup

Didn’t expect the 1st speaker to set your smoke alarm off 😂😂😂😂😂
I would take 90s Kenwood over 2000s any day.
6:26 sounds like a car engine exelorating
So that's why that tweeter took such a pounding...
The n553 souds like a washer that spins when it is connected to the frequency generator
I love your music
awesome dude i love these blowouts! hope there is gonna be more
You got great taste in music
That blue speaker sounds like a mini bike!
I have the shelf system that came with the blue kenwood speaker they sound good for what they are and have deep bass
It's the smoke alarm FIRE FIRE AHHHHHHHHHH😲
SpeakerKraft 126 I thought it was the amp notifying garret of overload.
Awesome
90's WINS.
back on deck 😎
WOW I think that's the first I have heard a smoke alarm in your videos besides that fog machine prank.
Your laugh in slow mo xD
The Vintage one definitely had better mid-range.
That was a great video!
The woofer at 6:21 and around 7 minutes sounds like a broken car which crashes soon
i have the blue ones i was wondering if you have blown any up this morning
0:25. One example that I could find of a system that came with the LS-N553 was the Kenwood XD A53.
YEAH DIMPLES
I noticed you cuss a lot less in your videos suddenly. Was there a specific reason or just trying to stay more general-audiences friendly?
No specific reason, I can cuss all I like however the amount of cussing I do depends on my current level of aggravation, What is important about how I cuss is the context, And ive become the fucking master of casually cussing
If cussing less is a sign you're less aggravated in general then that's a good thing IMO. Peace of mind > everything else

Wow, is that a TPS-L2 at 1:05 in the background?
yeeee
Oh I had that blue one 😢, you broke my heart
Insane excursion (the old one)
Omg
yep code 3 smoke/fire alarm
Holy crap the 90's speaker is a tank
Kenwood will not stand for this desecration! Kenwood will get you for this!
The initial part of the sweep reminds me of Back to the Future where marty blows up Doc's giant speaker.
Too bad these are decent! Still really fun to watch!
Garett why are you such a god
5:43 im surprised that woofer lasted as long as it did regarding it was hitting the magnet the entire time
Bit of insulation on the plastiqui one and it will sound little better
How much power did the LS-711 woofer (the good one) take before it burned out?
85 watts rms i have a pair at home good quality for such a low price
8:40 - Tweeter says: "Hey, don't do that!"
5:12 the music is so loud you can’t even hear the fire alarm
the first one had far better sound quality.

Rhett the maned wolf ive done it they barely do anything
Rhett the maned wolf my logitech headset took 200~watts rms
Yes
At 5:04 Why did the fire alarm go off before the woofer started smoking

All effort went into sound quality instead of design in older one..
Can younlink your sound cloud
