    Very few channels I pretty much drop everything to watch a vid. I always learn something. I might have said this before, Logical Canuck has a very affordable pressure transducer build. That check that performed allowed uto check three critical items. 1. Fuel pressure 2. A/F sensor 3. Back pressure 4. Timing belt accuracy. Sweet. Thank u Pat!!!

    It took me proving several plugged cats with the wps before the office believed it as a reliable test. I use it on GM v6 engines all the time because it easier to take out a front plug than the O2 sensor. Nice video PJ.

    I had a 3.8l Caravan that I used this technique on. Some of those are hard to get the O2 out of, that one pays 1.4h. A front facing plug was much easier. It had a 5psi restriction according to the scope readings. It was easy to print out and show the before and after measurements. Anyway, thanks for the video, great stuff!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. One question, air fuel sensors work with different voltage as i can see, every manufcture uses it own. Is there any stragety that you use on toyota vehicles or all the readings are the same..thanks

    • @VoltageDropDiagnostics
      @VoltageDropDiagnostics  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You're right all manufacturers use a different voltage number. For example, Toyota is 3.3 volts. But keep in mind that A/F sensors don't work off of voltage. They actually work off of amperage. The voltage reading you're seeing in the scan tool is a substituted number. BUT if there is a lambda pid 1.0 is the standard for stoichiometric across the board for all makes and models. And anything lower than 1 is rich and anything above 1 is lean.

    Any ideas on what to look for? Clean mass airflow sensor, air filters good, spark plugs are good, fuel pressure is good. No vacuum leaks. Car runs great no rough idle
    just high L fuel trims and lower mpg than I used to get. 197k miles

Reset idle with 2 on off ignition cycles, 3rd cycle started it. Emergency brake up, put in drive and let it relearn for 5 minutes. After it felt 👍. So I turned the wheel all the way to left and idle got stuck at 1000rpm... haha, before I had a really low idle when I turned it.all the way.. So I'm looking for my next direction for diagnosis. Unless I missed it, I didnt hear you say what your limit is for backpressure, maybe 3 PSI?? Why was the exhaust changed, did they say, was it for the same problem? Another great video. For readers here in the future if you believe you have a clogged exhaust system you can do the same procedure, disconnect the exhaust between the CAT and the muffler, if still a problem, disconnect forward of the CAT and it will clear up if the problem was a clogged exhaust. Beware of the possibility of breaking studs, lots of break free may not work.

      Yeah, besides burning oil, these cars are pretty solid vehicles.

    • @ottallman
      @ottallman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No doubt. My lady's parents borrowed her car and ran it low on oil. Checked it when they brought it back and dipstick was dry 😬 was almost 2 quarts low. They ran it 10k miles on an oil change also when they were suppose to get it changed. That was 80k miles ago. Car is a 2012 and just hit 235,000 miles. Never count out the scion xb and never loan the inlaws a vehicle. Lol

    Its always darkest before the dawn. It may not seem like it now, but soon , you are about to live in the most prosperous, peaceful period in time in human history. Too much to explain but you'll know what I mean soon!! Some shocking events are about to happen. All for the better.

    Great use of the transducer when you don't want to heat the hell out of that upstream O2!
    What caused the meltdown of the CAT you think?
    Time to get back to work America! Stop this nonsensical shutdown before our economy tanks completely!
    Hang in there Pat, I'm praying for you and others out there trying to stay on top of it during this trash!

      PAULY'S AUTO after talking to the customer, he told us that it was burning an astronomical amount of oil. 2-3 quarts every 1,000 miles.
      I have a feeling that was the cause of the cat failure.

    Heck man, make some more videos when y’all are slow. If anything just make some with some short ones with know goods and post the files. I know videos don’t make that much money but might help a little. 👍👍

    Thanks for another great video, PJ. Can you please send me your email address? I would like to show my appreciation for teaching me valuable diagnostic techniques that allow me to keep my family's old vehicles running perfectly. I hope a token of my gratitude will help offset your dropoff of billable hours.
    I hope the family is doing well!

      @@VoltageDropDiagnostics Please, PJ, I insist. Use it for your wife or your daughter. I am sure they're getting bored from spending too much time in the house. At the very least start up a Patreon account so your fans can support your videos every month.
      Or you'll force me to send it to Brandon so he can forward on to you!

      I promise, we will be fine. I turned in a couple vacation days for pay. And this week wasn't as bad. I do appreciate it. And I'm not sure how I feel about Patreon. I'm not doing this for the money. (Because let me tell you, TH-cam isn't very generous hahah) I do this to try and help the industry.

      Hm. You’d need to look into the ATS 500 psi transducer to use with the verus
