Thank you for the video. Can it position face down so the ground can be videoed from a birds eye POV?
This looks pretty good for my Vivo X80 Pro. I got a Smooth Q3 before getting the Vivo X80 Pro but when you try to mount it on the phone it messes up with the control buttons on the phone since they're located pretty much in the middle of the body side.
At 01:25 in the video, when you laid it on the table, what is the length of it? Great review!
Thank you for this video comparison. I have the Zhiyun Smooth 4. Unfortunately, this last drop has taken it out! When plugging it into the power source, nothing lights up. I have dropped it repeatedly because of its bulky size, and you are right. It does not fit in most bags. This was an excellent point to bring up to new Gimbal customers. If Zhiyun solved that problem, it would be fantastic! Now, I have to purchase another gimble and fast. As a real estate agent, 70% of what I shoot is indoors, in low light, and with Atlanta weather, that might be closer to 80%. I need to shoot in tight spaces i.e., rooms and closets. What lens and filters do you recommend for an iPhone 13 if I want to use the 5s? By the way, thanks for the recommendation for the Aputure MC Pocket RGB Light with Magnets.
Awesome review !!! Can you lock the tilt and roll motors and have only the pan motor working . I have a Osmo 6 on a full size tripod and when panning left to right I sometimes accidentally tilt up or down when using the joystick.
It’s the pan follow mode right ? You should have it on your om6 also? It looks tilt and rotate. And only pans left and right

Thanks for the review! I am wondering about the payload. I have iphone 14pro with anamorhic lens from Moment, totaling to a weight od 400g. Any info if it holds?
The Compatible Smartphone Weight of the Smooth 5S is 150g - 300g, I'm afraid that you may not balance your phone on the gimbal.
So the menu system doesn’t change in vertical mode in the pro app? It stays..as it thinks it’s in landscape?? If so…is that going to change with a firmware update???
From my testing it was landscape which isn’t ideal. But the normal app can switch
Hey man solid review btw lemme ask you a question, I want to do gym vlogs with iPhone 14 pro max and want to attach anamorphic lens and moments filter which gimbal would be best. And also one more thing can the rode wireless go 2 be attached with any of the gimbals that you will recommend.

hey buddy, I havent tested this, heres what i think tho (take it for a grant of salt don't want to mislead you) the recommended weight is 330g. so anywhere around that is ok. give or take abit. promax i think is under 250g so with case and lens it should be ok. HOWEVER, i believe due to size of promax and lens, it will shift the weight too heavy to one side, so you need to balance it right. delicate situation but i think on the smooth 5s it should be ok. TRy it out , also i think zhiyun offer return policies if they fail to support your setup

Thank you, this video is really helpful. Regarding the basic combo (which I'm planning to purchase, would I need to pay for the ZY App for it is does not include the Zhiyun Prime Card.
I think it depends on the promo. Best to check with the seller , blackfriday might have some discount offers. Also prime memebership i think some get 3 months free. both app is free , just the pro has some features requiring prime membership

There are a lot of issues with this device with post sales support. Many questions on defective devices on Facebook and rarely does anyone from Z answer questions. That scares me because DJI has fantastic customer supporting their devices.
Looking at the design of this gimbal it seems that it's not possible to attach a usb wireless mic system like a rode or saramonic or DJI mic right?
I attached a dji wireless to my iPhone during my testing.

I don’t have the cage but the gimbal can withstand about 330g if that helps
So definitely not good for any serious iPhone shooting as it will work with a phone only. No cages not even the lighter Smallrig cage, no lenses. I was considering getting this gimbal as my first experience but it's out now. And seeing the price I really don't see why to buy this gimball when more professional ones will be of similar price. @@MrTechTok

not sure, this phone model not in the compatibility list. But it can work with the P60 which also not in the list.

Only if you want 4K 30, or 1080P 30. The apps used both will lock out the 60 fps option... These apps were probably made 8 years ago and never updated... dumb and dumber

Yeah
The smooth 5 is not a good gimbal. I returned mine because i was constantly losing the level. I bought a Feiyu tech G6 in 2018 for my Gopro and it work fine

Thanks for your review. This Smooth 5 S is definitely not good for any serious iPhone shooting as it will work with a phone only seeing that you said that it can withstand only 330 grams.
So no cages not even the lighter Smallrig cage, no lenses, no mics. I was considering getting this gimbal as my first experience but it's out of question now. And seeing the price I really don't see why anyone would buy this limited gimball when more professional ones will be of similar price.
Don't use the Zhiyun Smooth 5S for Samsung S23 Ultra. Maybe not even any Android phone in general because the Apps the gimbals uses, are not compatible with a lot of the functions. The Smooth 5S clamps barely open enough to fit a 6.8inch screen (which my Ultra model has) and the design of the clamps put pressure on your screen corners its holding. This resulted in my new S23 Ultra screen cracking the first time I used this gimbal. Save yourselves the trouble.

well technically you can put a GoPro on it since the clamp should fit. But you won’t have Bluetooth and app feature.

Dang, at first I would be like, yup DJI ftw, but nope, that one has tilt limitations far worst than this

For anyone who has bought this, with the 14pM, does Vlogging on a motor bike get dangerous ? As in road bumps and what not ?
Is this an Iphone 14 pro Max? I tried the Gimbal with my Iphone 14 Pro Max and it was literally crying. The motors couldnt handle the phone and the phone is so big that you cant move it around to all positions while it is in portrait mode..

Not really unless you only want to shoot 1080p 30 fps or 4K 30... 60 fps is DISABLED in their Android apps... They have been the same trashy apps since the Smooth 4. Every Android user complained for years.. nothing done for them. DJI is the same way, so forget using these even with the newest of Android phones. These mfg's do NOTHING for Android

在手机设置中蓝牙连接5S 后，不需要连接 ZY Cami/StaCam 也可以通过5S 控制手机原生相机呀，只不过适用于支持用音量键控制拍照的手机🤔

Thanks for your review. I think you shouldn't recommend this Smooth 5S in your " honest review" at all. I am looking for a first gimball to use with my iPhone 14 Pro but this is definitely not for any serious work with iPhones as it won't hold the weight of a cage (Beastgrip or even the lighter Smallrig) with lens and shotgun. You say somewhere in the comments that the 5S can hold 330 grams which is practically just the weight of the phone.
As a matter of fact, after having watched the review, I really think people should just buy a good selfie stick and use a cam app with good stabilisation mode such as Beastcam rather than buy this gimbal.
Seeing the price, it's better to get an older model of a more professional gimball or spend a bit more and get a more decent gimball such as the Weevil 3S. As for using the iPhone on its own I think its' silly to spend over £200 on something that will be nothing but a toy as using iPhone without lenses ,ND filters and a real shotgun will limit the quality of the shooting considerably.
The fact that apps are by subscription only AND that tiny, impossible to use outside mode display, make this a no-keeper. Sent mine back.
If I can't tell which mode I'm in, then this is useless. If I have to rent software in order to take a full advantage of this thing, after spending almost $200 is just pure greed.
Thank you for the video, but honestly, I swear to god, if the difference between 5 and 5s are the lights, is it so, so hard that someone makes an actual footage with the damn lights? Omg its super frustrating. Why is it so hard that someone shows one of the selling points of a product. I know it has lights, i can see the lights, i want to see the lights doing their jooooob

@@MrTechTok And that's perfect, but i think it's people's job to decide whether they feel the same way. We value a lot content creators like yourself, we watch your videos for a reason, but I think a selling point of a product should indeed be reviewed.
Nobody said anything about bad tracking. ZHIYUN Smooth 5S tracking is not good compare to Dji and it works only in HD mode . Forget about 4k tracking with this gimbal...
I wouldn’t say no body. I stated this in my dji vs zhiyun video. I did a active track on my in-depth video and I stated this exactly. Feel free to check it out
DO NOT buy a Smooth 5 S. I just did and on the latest and greatest Android phones we tested the apps are still garbage and only good for 30 fps including in 1080P which is insanely bad!! StaCam, ZyPlay, ZyCam all of them DO NOT WORK on an S22, S23, Note 9, Note 10, Pixel 6, a couple different LG phones, so yeah it stinks if you are an android user. YOU are FORCED to use the phone's native camera app to record at anything 60 fps, 1080 4K 60.. NONE of those work on the Zhiyun apps. They have NOT worked since the Smooth 4 many years ago and though there have been thousands of requests to fix this, they have not and seem to not care to fix it.
That said, surprise... the OSMO 4, 5, 6 all have the same issues. If you have Android, you are stick with your phone's own camera app and will NOT be able to use any of the features of the gimbals mentioned. DJI or Zhiyun... same crap, and yes, the same goes for the Moza. NONE of those mfg's have a fix for the basics of the basics in Android 1080 P 60 fps or 4K 60.... what a stupid oversight
How far behind now is Zhiyun on their app supported devices...? The last shown NEW phone on their own PDF of supported devices is the S21 which is already a 2 Year old phone!! IF you do not have iOS device, you will NOT be happy with this gimbal or the supporting apps. IF you choose to use it with the native camera app, it is a nice gimbal that beats the OSMO in many ways for it's ability to support more weight. As for the apps, I read Filmic Pro HAS broken the 60 fps barrier, but their limit on Samsung is the telephoto lens option.. but all Wide modes do work... So again it shows these gimbal makers haven't even tried!!!
2 apps and both have a ridiculous paywall. They give you "Prime" for a year w/basic features...but hey here's "Prime+" with even more basic features and guess what ..you have to pay...wow. These guys dropped the ball big time w/this. Great hardware, ripoff software. Sad. Will be returning/
if you want to use face tracking feature, think twice before bye this gimbal! It's terrible.As soon as ZY Cami app lost your face it will move camera in far left or right and it cannot pick up the face again. Expensive and useless without proper face tracking!
