- Alice Kithome will always remember the day her brother's friend who also happens to be their neighbor introduced them to a group of men who offered her a 50,000 USD tender to supply maize.
Little did she know that all they wanted was for her to go through the entire purchasing process and trick her once the Maize reached Nairobi
She says, the most painful part about the whole ordeal was the fact that once she traced them, they only spent a night in jail and she does not understand why the police set them free
Will she ever find justice?

'You are mostly usually conned by someone who knows you ' is one of the truest statement I concur with with. I was conned almost half a million in 2017 by my friend's brother. This was so brave of her to speak out.

A friend of my mum was conned by her business partner. The business partner conned her 6 million. That was 10 years back.The person that was conned had a very sick baby in hospital then. Gertrudes actually .
Meeeeeen they suffered. They had to move houses and all. They really suffered. But you know what? The lady who robbed her was her business partner and she immigrated to The US and thought she was smart. She went on to discover she had stage 4 breast cancer out of the blue and i think she is dying or dead. My mums friend was able to find her feet and made money and recovered.

How did you deal with this
I have been conned in the past. I identify with her sentiment when she says that the conman is always ahead of the game. The book, "The richest man in Babylon" helped me in coming out of the shock and accepting the losses and moving on. The book changed my perspective about my attachment to money but also taught me about questioning deals and also how to go about accepting business losses coz at times, losses come through just poor business outlook.
It’s one of the greatest book ever written. If I was in charge this should be in the Kenyan curriculum. The 5 rules of gold.

I lost 3.1m and got depressed.Working day and night, saving every coin , sacrificing a lot of things sometimes going for one meal a day because I didn't have time to cook.Almost similar case from a friend who turned out to be a con.Anyway I rose up again ,I thank God, depression never killed me!

i wish i could share a story about someone i know who has lost everything..(millions) to conmen.. sold everything including his own home, has taken aloan totalling to millions for gold business.. he's still funding the imaginary project with his little remaining salary.. it's reached a point where his kids can't even be in school anymore.. family cannot feed.. everyday "kuna pesa nafwatilia central bank".. it's been tough for 10 years now

I also lost 800k to a contractor, it was the most painful thing l have ever gone through. It might not be comparable to your 5M, but the pain & disbelief that you have actually lost money is unbearable.
One thing l keep on telling myself is that the Judicial System in this country may fail, but there's a God in heaven who is just, and justice is the foundation of His throne. He has seen, and when He says vengeance is mine, oh for sure it is His.
Forgive these cons & wait for the vengeance of the Lord even as you seek further redress on this matter from DCI.
May the Lord ease your pain even as you repay that money.

I was conned by a stranger after getting some IT items to them. I reported to a police station and had to pay a certain amount to the police officers and request an uber for them so they can visit the crime scene. After realising the police were of no help i just decided to let go.

Ati nikaambiwa, u know, huezi enda uko mwenyewe, sababu unajua subcontracting hairuhusiwi so tunafanya chini ya maji.
