Life abroad is like the proverbial grass that look green from afar but no sooner than you get there and you realize the empty patches. In Italy, we fought the language barriers, the discrimination and the harsh climate. These are the dry patches and it's only if you are strong enough you overcome. Am here for 14 years and can't complain.
Was in Italy in the late 90s...as a tourist those days no Visa was required for Kenyans travelling there and was there for 6 months was hosted by an Aunt who still lives there to this day...stayed in the Northern part of Italy the Trento/Rovereto area...it was nice but the language barrier was a big problem and racism...although for the most part I found some Italians to be warm and friendly...would love to visit again someday when this Rona goes away and when some normalcy prevails.
My take is that, the first people you meet when you migrate are very important. Secondly, be ready to leave those degrees and certificates at JKIA as mzungu wants experience from abroad. Lastly the friends you keep will either propel you or destroy you.
Some of us were trained nurses in Kenya and that included cleaning people. Even in hospitals here in the US,nurses wash patients. It's part of giving care.
There are two types of nursing Ya kufanya hospital. Na kutake care of old People: this need heart kupanguza matako ya mtu mkubwa na kutowa mafi kila siku si kazi ya rahisi...but kazi ni kazi u just need heart.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤👏👏👏

Soo candid, very strong lady. ....i think she should have talked to the guys languishing out of the country but lack the courage to go back home.Wish her all the best..she was a big name on radio but never came to see her..she is soo cute.
I honestly admire the brutal truth ,I have a lot of respect for people who are brave enough to say it as it is and more so brave enough to call it a day and go back where they belong.Kudos Maam!
If you leave Kenya without "making it" it is also highly likely you will not make it overseas. It is a state of mind and not dependent on geographic region. A successful person and not just financial but in many other ways that money cannot buy will always be a successful person wherever they end up; China, Asia, US you name it. People equate travelling overseas to "making it". It is just the beginning. It is tough overseas, it is tough in Kenya. Just choose where you plan to execute your game plan and execute it.
Am a kenyan in USA and I own a painting business....there's nothing good like kazi za mkono....the only problem is finding people to help you with the work 💪
Life in the US is not for everyone. First of all there's paid parking at the airport where you park, find a restaurant, or place to wait for your loved one. You don't have to work two jobs. I know a man who's taking care of his kids in Kenya while the wife is in the US. It's all about planning and research. Some people have gone back home and prospered, others things didn't work out. For anyone out there dreaming of the American dream, life is all about taking risks. Go after your dream.
I agree!! I made it big in the U.S and im not in health care. I pity her for such cna experiences coming from media!! Some kenyans have a dip on the side stato mwenye anataka kukuja plz don't get discouraged! She has not talked about successful kenyans in the U.S🤔🤔 it seems hakukutana na yeyote poor thing. People own big companies, schools employing over 35 workers?? huyu alikuwa nursing home akiosha tuguka na mabeste wake walikuwa c.n.a's! She never rubbed shoulders with other kenyans it seems.
I was wondering why she was saying you can only pick and drop at the airport. Also her Aunty could have checked on the internet when the flight is landing and /or Nungari could have told her.
@@catalinaparis9271 What I have learnt from most people who've gone to the states is that you have to go back to school there in order to get professional jobs. For example, a maths teacher from a private school in Kenya got a green card and went to the states. When he reached there, he found he could only work as a security guard - he thought he would teach maths in the USA and earn thousands of dollars. He also said Kenyans don't tell each other the truth and they tell you to work those odd jobs, instead of encouraging you to go back to school and get USA qualifications... He researched and found that he had to get qualified - and qualified means a USA degree/education in addition to his Kenyan education and decades of work experience as a maths teacher. He, therefore, signed up for an online degree or something like that. And after graduation, now got a job in a high school teaching mathematics. I think his story is on LynnNgugi's channel or similar. So there's the catch - in addition to your education and work experience, you have to get a USA qualification - and that means their education and licencing. At least that is what I have deduced from many of these episodes. But, I have never gone to the USA and so I am just blubbering here. I could be very very very wrong in my suppossitions.
The Minute you humble yourself and look to Jesus that is when success comes. I do not look down on any Kenyan no matter what job you do. Just know God is on the throne. Work for Him no matter what you are doing. God bless you.
Nungari waambie malekani si mchezo. I started as a CNA too, but the best thing with USA it gives you a chance to advance yourself in school. Never despise a humble beginning.
America is all about being focussed and disciplined, love what you do advance in education and and life becomes better. That's all. There are a lot of success stories in the diaspora, not just USA God,focus, discipline
I believe you went back because of your children and your heart was not in USA. I love my life in UK and our community is together that you feel at home.
That true, sometimes a heart is connected to somewhere else rather than where you are living, I see many people in the rest part of Europe when they get papers they move to UK, either they say they will earn more money or because of the language, some comes back but others stay there forever, but when you embrace the language the culture then you live comfortably, I believe everything that has advantages and disadvantages at the same time
If you have the right papers, it is not that bad...like any new place, ku hustle ni lazima as you settle. Even in Kenya people have a main job and a side hustle ...so hustle is everywhere.
once you are in USA, open your eyes and roll up your sleeve, life is not easy but its promising. I don't regnet being in USA because my life and that of my children changed. when I manage to bring my children then I can go back to 254 to and fro. As I age up I need good medial and God had given me the chance. All depends on individusls
Germany is worse coz you start by learning their language, and it's the first thing I did within the first few months, then with all the challenges, I did a fach assistance course in nursing and for 2 years now I have been working as one . Here taxes are very high and many prefer "working under the carpet " to avoid paying taxes. I choose to go the regal way coz I felt and still feel it's good to also give back to the government for paying for my course. Hapa if you are jobless the government pays for your housing and give you maintenance money so many prefer " black jobs " which I also did earlier...but I don't regret doing it the legal way.
America ni gutee..I always admire the guys who staid put at home and are making it..biulding their 1st home through saccos n what not ,side hustles and most importantly trully happy and not the social media hype of teslas and two homes 🤣🇰🇪🇰🇪

Nungari Wamuchai had three jobs in the U.S and going to school at the same time. Wow! i am not sure how she was able to manage that in a day. I have lived in United States for over 30 years and now enjoying my lazy days.
I’m thankful God gave me a chance to be here in the States! It has definitely helped me not only to change my life but also those of my family. It’s devastating how pple try to portray places so bad when things don’t work out for them. I moved here at only 18 right after my high school. Despite challenges at the beginning, God helped me get through it. Through hard work and help from my ever loving God, I was accorded a full scholarship. Where in Kenya scholarships are offered??? After my graduation I hope to enroll medical school. When I visit Kenya I would love to share my own experience and inspire someone out there! It’s not that bad!!! Stay focused, disciplined, know what you want and above all, have a helping hand! God will bless you abundantly.
Having stayed in america for 17 years. I was humbled and humbled some more. But i knew what i wanted. I moved from dishwasher to a team lead in a federal government (dep of Veterans affairs) as psychiatric provider where 99 %of my team are aphd holders. Work only one job, have properties in kenya and so on. Moral of the story, go for your dreams wherever they lead you, take risks, align yourself with good people, believe in God, follow the laws, and remember your parents/your people.
That's the truth, I'm surprised all the kenyans who have come here have gone through the same experience. I want to come back home definitely but not just yet . All you needed to do was go to school and bring your kids over, I feel like going home is the easy way out . I prefer to stay because here I work and get paid my worth and all I needed to do was get an education and I'm set . I've done videos about my experience here and coming here on my channel, SHIKO THE MILLENNIAL. When I get tired of living in the US I remember how much I wanted to come here and all I want to experience.
Don't get me wrong you can make it. As I said I'm done with my nursing that I paid cash for so I have a good job to pay all my bills and school. You can come and earn upto 500k a month easily but forget about social life you'll be working and then some.

The US is no joke, let nobody lie to you in the comment section. it can be good or bad to you, depends with where you fall. Yes you can make it if you play your cards right but just know that it's a very competitive place where people value individualism more than collectivism and it has very strict laws and most people here survive on credit.

Miss Nungari, You never talked at all about successfull kenyans living in America!! and you never elaborated the difference of people with citizenships and green cards na wale bila papers🤔the state you were at is notorious for CNA jobs, na watu hawana makaratasi, thats all they do. I've never done those kind of jobs, im in the coporate America earning a 6 figure salary, and alot of my friends too, I went to school, America is a country of opportunities, you also need to mix with the right people to get the right advises wenye mtu amekuta pia the hosts, play a big role on how somebody will progress in this country it's not that bad! You have a positive story - well good for you! ukikuja jamhuri seek audience with JG & give your version but let's not cancel people giving a narrative that is different from what we believe - everyone's experience is dif - some love the US & some can't wait to go back to motherland. Good job for doing YOU and coming back because YOU wanted to and not succumbing to people's pressures to live your life according to their script. Welcome back home
I will have to say this. And Kindly read. As much as you may hate US, this country trains you to be dependent. I agree you have to work hard. But it is how we achieve. Maybe you would not have a chance to even get that simple interview, if u had not gone to US. Success is not just on tangible stuff. But the exposure, experience, problem solving skills and the fact that u get some advantage on top of others. Been in US for 6 yrs, i do visit often, i may not have plots or cars, but my mind has that potential of building an empire. All what matters is what you keep in your mind and utilize.
I feel you i was in Australia and I also came back and would never go back I dont regret my decision since I also dozed off due to fatigue and got an accident , luckily I am alive back in Kenya , most guys dont tell you the truth about overseas she is authentic all the best

My brother, drive there back home.tell them to really culculate for you the taxes they pay.they earn eg,they earn 1000 usd ,they pay 500usd taxes. As a truck driver in Kenya I guess you must be earning 40-50k amonth, do go anywhere
And buy your own truck you can make alot of money, usikufe moyo there is a kenyan company 4 guys partners wako na 300 trucks and they started being truck drivers!!.
The decision to leave one place and move to another whether local or international comes with its advantages and disadvantages. How you deal with your final decision is the key. You can either choose to live regretting or embrace your choice and be positive. All in all, life is a journey of learning and growth, in most joyous situations and even in the most challenging times. Thank you for sharing your story.

Marriage question is a pain in neck for most Kenyans in America. Then comes stating the job one does. Nungari is very straightforward unlike many people who can’t admit cleaning the elderly for a living.
This is my story . I Left him with kids and left for states. It took me three years to come back home. Husband moved on, he left the kids time ya corona , None of my relatives cared but they loved the money I used to send them lol, I used to bembeleza them to go see my kids , i send them fare but they didn't lol. I raised my kids on whatsapp videos , I took my daughter to school k kwa simu coz nobody was there, I ongad baby daddy ndio anisaidie ata kupeleka mtoto hospitali, my kids were depressed and all that. Anyway the ninja moved on and am happy for him, am now back home and happy with my kids. Mungu ni mwema. Hakuna pendo kama la Mama.
Her answers are very well thought of. She is not generalising every situation. She is just saying her situation and most likely it would not necessarily be another one's.

Starting after relocation to USA is not easy. Will be coming soon to Kenya. Some of what Nungari is saying is true but the Lord has been a blessing. Education is easy but very taxing to the body.
Something hard to bare is always sweet to remember. The problem with Kenya is u wake up early, work very hard but the profit is too low for most and also the corruption bit. At least in the diaspora u just work a lot of hours as u can and yu will leap the fruit. Kenyans are hardworking people

What about the brain drain..?
So true!

Judgement belong to God, be kind and know everyone is fighting a battle ,its by Gods race you are where you are today.

@@janekarue9410 Do our grades and certificates matter?

I believe you went back because of your children and your heart was not in USA. I love my life in UK and our community is together that you feel at home.
That true, sometimes a heart is connected to somewhere else rather than where you are living, I see many people in the rest part of Europe when they get papers they move to UK, either they say they will earn more money or because of the language, some comes back but others stay there forever, but when you embrace the language the culture then you live comfortably, I believe everything that has advantages and disadvantages at the same time
Well said sonny. Here we r a family looking after each other. How’s my gals and boys??

once you are in USA, open your eyes and roll up your sleeve, life is not easy but its promising. I don't regnet being in USA because my life and that of my children changed. when I manage to bring my children then I can go back to 254 to and fro. As I age up I need good medial and God had given me the chance. All depends on individusls
No place or country has a smooth life even in your own country the only thing you own is of movement it's hard enough as it is
Germany is worse coz you start by learning their language, and it's the first thing I did within the first few months, then with all the challenges, I did a fach assistance course in nursing and for 2 years now I have been working as one .
