    Very good review. I am just getting a 2009 with 73k miles here in Florida. The car belongs to an old lady who has to give up her driving privileges because of her eyes vision. The car is absolutely new. This is why I am looking at all videos regarding this model. Thanks so much for all the great information.

    My sister had one of these. Same year and same color. The only difference is that it was an LS model. She bought it brand new in Spring 2006. The car was built in December 2005. She loved that car. She drove the car until Christmas morning of 2016 when it broke down. She now has a black 2016 Nissan Rogue SV as a replacement to her HHR.

    HHR is like a pt cruiser on steriods,lots of headroom, decent mpgs, easy maintenance, had no real problems

    Battery in rear supposedly for heat protection and additional engine room up front. 50 amp BCM fuse on it too. Don't jump from the fuse box lead!!
    When battery dies, remove plastic cover on hatch door inside and use screwdriver to push tab to open hatch. Yes, is a PITA to do.
    Maintenance : replaced front hubs due to road noise, new tire's didn't fix, camshaft & exhaust position sensors (threw codes when it rained), rubber sheet covering fan box (ac/heat) as it will eventually leak water into passenger floor board area.
    Only use GM spark plugs.
    Alternator is easily replaced w/ help of harbor freight Serpentine bar (cut handle shorter) & replace the belt since your there.
    2006 2LT 2.4L = 20mpg city.

    Nice review. I have had my 2010 for 2-3 years and just crossed the 215,000 mile marker. Mine has had a few hick ups, but what do you expect for a 14 year old car. I like mine a lot and am starting to throw money at it here and there. The fuel line was the hardest part to swallow at almost $800 to replace. But all told I got a pretty good deal for a car that has cost me just under $3k total.
    Also I like this channel so I will subscribe to it.

    if you jump tire size up 1 size you will increase your fuel millage im get 29.7 in town and 40 on freeway you should try it

    • @JrZCarZ
      @JrZCarZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      False. Changing tire size either speeds up or slows down the rotation of the tire, so it throws the speedo off which throws the mileage off making it look like you are going more miles than you really are. You're not getting better mileage, you're speedo is off making you think you're getting better mileage.

I have 6 1/2 Questions: (1) What are some of the things that you love about this vehicle (2) What are some things that you wish that you knew about this vehicle? (5) 8:59 you're mentioning the oil filter.... so if you're attempting to remove this particular top... are tools needed or No, it unskrews by hand and the filter is changed easily by hand? *(6)* if a tool is actually n eeded for 8:59 , what is the exact name and size of that tool? @@keeponkeepkeepingon8376 > 32mm oil "wrench" fits over the oil filler, use socket wrench to loosen after you drain bottom drain plug, then just replace filter. I use mobile 1 syn oil 20-50w in Florida. Oil cap is removable and has dip stick. Auto transmission does not.
      Rotate tires on these front wheel drive cars or you'll be sorry you didn't because of wear.

    I have a PT Cruiser convertible that has required lots of repairs over the years I've owned it. Most repairs are labor-intensive and you have to take half the engine or dash apart to fix things. Is the HHR similar ? or, can parts be accessed easier for repairs? I'm very interested in buying a HHR if it's not going to be down a week or two every time it needs repaired. Thank you!

    • @JrZCarZ
      @JrZCarZ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Realistically it depends on what's being done. I know the engine compartment of the PT Cruiser is crammed so I can see how a lot would need to be taken apart to get to whatever it is. The HHR was less crammed so it can be easier.
      Thing is too..... I'd you take it to a mechanic they will go by the labor book of what the manufacturer says it should take. If the book says 8 hours of labor, they aren't going to give it to you in 5 cause they found an easier way, and they sure as hell will charge you every penny of that book time. This is why it's nice ro be able to work on your own cars. Buy better parts cheaper with no markup at a shop, no labor costs, and most likely faster turn around than at a shop that's making money just staring at your car.
      Happy motoring!
