Gosh damn I wish GM would bring this engine back to its lineup! Hook it up to at least a 8 speed, and with all this weight reduction on there cars it would put out serious power! Fuck all these 4 bangers! Best part it's this 6 cyl got better gas than some of these 4's are!
Cant hook up a low revving torque monster to an 8 speed auto man. It would never stay in its optimal power range, and wouldn't put power to the ground efficiently.
At least a 5-6 speed replacement for the glass-made 4t65

@DreamsMemories yes the first run i had lots of wheel spin second run i got the run on him top end and e60 m5 would for sure take me. I really need some drag radials. thanks for the comment

It can be fixed with stickier tires and know when to apply the power. having such a powerfull front wheel drive car takes lots of seat time to learn how to drive it. most people who drive l67 cars think a nice set of $500 all season performance tire is good enough. its not I run P0 summer tire and blizzecks in winter.

@Tboulda Thanks its a 2009 BMW M5 not sure if its a P500s or a E60. but on the end of the video when he drives away it sounds bad ass. I like the M5 a lot there sick rides.

I own a 98 Regal GS and i love the L67 but that M5 was toying with this GTP and one of our cars biggest downfalls is traction from a launch there has been many tines were i would have busted some ass but i could only get a little over halfway in the throttle until 2nd
Wow. M5 is either slow or has a bad driver, no offense, but it shoulda blown your GTP away.
Blake the M5 driver is no race car driver and was not launching the car either. On the streets I can hold up with it after 120 mph the m5 is gong. This same M5 I raced at a 1/4 mile track and it won by a full half second. so on the street it looks close, but we know it's a way faster car!
What were your quarter mile times?
Blake if I remember right it was around 12.5 trapped around 118 GTP was 13.05 trapped at 103 mph.

Blake at this time the car had cam, heads, headers, cold air intake, Dyno tuned with all the supporting mods. I love the supercharged motors just lower pulley and put new tune on car.

@imserious2187 thats why 03 and older gtp's want our GEN 5 blowers and our 4T65E (HD) Transmissions. but thats alright i like all grand prix old or new and all car guys that enjoy modifying cars. don't hate

Nice run! Nice mod list too. Was your boy in P500s in the M? You have a quick car but the E60 M5 with the right settings and driven properly tips it hat to few vehicles on the road. Check out my page and you'll see the hurting my stock M puts on some bad cars. Be safe out there bro
I have a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GT I've dumped thousands of dollars into because I love the 3800's so much. Just put new struts, tie rod ends, front wheel bearings, one rear wheel bearing, sway bar, trailer arm in the driver rear and finally my 4 wheel alignment. It still doesn't ride like a luxury vehicle but does not take shock to the suspension as it did before. I had an accident last year so I needed some of these repairs due to that, plus put more money in for a complete paint job and finding those Rocker Panel Assembly Brackets was a pain in the ass as the automotive companies wanted to sell the Rocker Panel along with the Assembly together, not separate, which would have cost $450 but I lucked out finding one in a junk yard paying only $20 for. Now I have to figure out why my defrost doesn't work and stops at the floor vents and not blowing air through the defrost vents.

wow! that's a lot of work. But it's fun, someday you will have to get practical and just buy a newer car. This way your not always fixing it, you can modify it to make it faster. Good luck and enjoy that 3800!!
no not stock lightly modded cold air intake, zzp 304 stainless steel headers, 3" down pipe no cat, 1.9 modified rockers with 90lb valve springs, 180 degree thermistat, colder plugs and smaller pulley (3.5) all with a custome tune from ZZperformance.
@jmrtinez69 its a bad sleeper i could tell it wasnt in m mode because i could see it wasnt pulling the way it should, i live in ny so the winters are fucked up i got a new body cadillac escalade, that shits pretty fast for a truck it has over 400 hp, but im looking to buy a white m5 by this spring or summer
I said earlier, I used to launch my M5 0 to 60 at about 4.1 seconds, no more than 4.2 all my 0 to 60 times were under 4.4, this is the case with your car, too, it's faster than whey pontiac claims, like a said little things like full tanks, etc make big differences on the quarter mile and 0 to 60 but I'll tell you this much if your gonna get this car be prepared to be at the gas station ALOT the best mile per gallon I ever got was 11.2 and the worst I got was 5.7 mpg in traffic I manhattan
Yes e92 M5 H was not in M Mode and exhaust bafals were closed. But on the end of the video when he drives away from me you can hear the car.
I raced an m5 with my 91 z28 aluminum heads aftermarket intake beat it til 90 mph and it started pulling me .they ain't slow that's was a 13 flat car probably
I got a E36 M3 with my basic 3.5 setup the other night. Beat him like a civic. but damn it sure sounded nice.

@rukeye yes i live in Michigan I know winters!!! lol My grand prix runs a 13.4 1/4 mile correct me if im wrong but a stock 2009 m5 e60 runs about a 12.8 1/4 mile. So it would not be pulling that much. Yes 6th tenth of a second is alot on the drag strip but small on streets. I would still trade my grand prix for any year of a M5.
You'd be surprised what GT or gtp are capable of, If you have a lot of knowledge You can make your Pontiac pretty fast. just hade to put your mind in to it.
GTP must have serious mods to keep up with an E60 like that.

@rukeye Nice ya with my driving conditions i normaly get about 16 mpg to 21 mpg. It sucks i know but I do have bigger fuel injectors. My 0 to 60 times on the street are around 4.1 sec and with semi slicks on the track im at 3.2 on a stock transmision and stock Torque Converter.

@imserious2187 i have a 04 gtp and from digs i get a lil too much wheel spin so it takes off slow, but from a roll im taking the 03 on down gtp's easily no problem. i love all GTP's though, the older ones look sexy in white my cousin has one and i want it lol

The m5 is not a 58,000$ lol it's $100,000 new lol but I knew that it wasnt in 507 hp mode Bkuz a lot of people probably say this bit I had that car it is a beast you could either go shopping with your family in it or do 204 mph on the highway and that's the beauty of the Beast lol oh man I miss my baby :(

Me too!! To bad im still on the same tires, stock trans and same stall converter. My top end is way faster.
@rukeye I'm busted yes the M5 was just playing he was driving it hard but it was just in sport mode and traction controll off. ;-)
I have a 2000 Grand Prix and a 1998 BMW e39. Both great cars! The grand prix is definitely better in 0-60 acceleration but my e39 can go 70-150 a hell of a lot faster than the grand prix can go 70-120

+Marquel Johnson ya I agree. just the way there geared. I have gotten mine up to 157 mph on the highway. I also trap 106 mph in the 1/4 mile. it's no sports car. But it's a fun grocery getter.
Ya it seems like my grand prix looses alot of balls around 60 to 70mph

They still own the rights to the brand it was just not making enough money and I believe they filed bankruptcy at some point and started cutting programs like Pontiac, hummer, etc.

Brandon Moody 1.9 Rocker Arms, 90 lbs valve springs, 3" catless downpipe, cold air intake, colder plugs and thermostat, transmission shift kit with raised pressure and ZZPerformance dyno tune.
jmrtinez69 i just purchased the headers and downpipe and 3.5 pulley for my car finally. Next week getting plugs and wires and thermostat. Just wanted to know where my car would be at. Do i have to get the springs and rocker arms now?
Brandon Moody no you do not have to get harder springs but there pretty inexpensive and your already in there changing the rocker arms. Harder springs will allow you to have more rpms with out valve float which means more hp.

Yes except shift kit and raised shift pressure. All for firmer shifts.

an e60 M5 would walk this regardless of the turbo GTP get on the M life style , the GTP turbo pumps out less HP and weighs about the same and once again comparing APPLES TO ORANGES
