First Buck Owens leaving Hee Haw in March 1986 and then the next year we lost Archie Campbell in August 1987. That was the end of Hee Haw in my humble opinion and in Roy Clark's opinion he stated interviewed years later.
Back in those days, both Porter Wagoner and Hee Haw ran first-run on weekends in syndication, and my family faithfully watched both (along with Buck Owens Show). When this episode came on, my mother howled and cracked up at this number..."I don't believe he knows any other song!" (As Hee Haw viewers know very well, Archie Campbell performed that number seemingly every week on the show.)
When i was in the service my squad was sitting around in a fairly safe spot as far as safe spots go everybody was kinda tense so i started singing a verse i made up to this song and when it came to the chorus all 7 of my guys sounded off! The 2 prisoners we was holding both started crying and babbling it was epic! GO NAVY
And this would go on to birth Hee Haw, a show of skits, shorts, songs and joy aimed at the farmfolk that feed us every day with their hard work and long hours. God Bless You Archie Campbell, God Bless You.

LOL. This is still fun to watch. Hee Haw picked this up and what a hoot. Fun to see Tammy Wynette and George Jones and Johnny Cash being a guest on this segment when it was on Hee Haw. Funny and still makes me laugh. Wished we had more fun innocent entertainment. Thank God for TH-cam and this posting. Little on TV is even enjoyable anymore.
And, unusual for a show like this(not Porter, but Hee Haw) was when freakin' Roy Clark would get out thw fiddle and play...Classical Chopin and such, and beautifully, too. The man was truly musically talented, and technically so very skilled(banjo, flat top, mandoline, fiddle, whatever). Buck Owens and Roy Clark together, what a hoot. Yep Saturday nights was with ritual Hee Haw and oh How High could you go, toking on a number, sitting on them sacko' seeds. Sorry, creative blending there, Jim Stafford tune.
What's amazing is that until these clips showed up here (and I happened across 'em) I hadn't seen any of these since the early runs of Hee Haw, and I still remember this silly song.
